of_o every_o repentance_n but_o of_o that_o that_o be_v toward_o god_n which_o christ_n the_o lord_n himself_o raise_v up_o in_o our_o mind_n and_o that_o be_v true_a contrition_n and_o a_o just_a grief_n for_o our_o sin_n which_o we_o have_v commit_v in_o thought_n word_n or_o deed_n against_o the_o law_n of_o god_n which_o grief_n &_o anguish_n drive_v we_o to_o flee_v to_o christ_n with_o faith_n and_o trust_v that_o for_o his_o sake_n we_o shall_v be_v deliver_v from_o all_o our_o sin_n and_o from_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o that_o for_o his_o sake_n we_o shall_v be_v number_v among_o the_o ryghteous_a before_o god_n and_o shall_v be_v count_v heir_n of_o everlasting_a life_n this_o be_v a_o very_a evangelical_a and_o christian_a repentance_n for_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o wholesome_a repentance_n to_o be_v grieve_v and_o vex_v for_o our_o sin_n and_o to_o fear_v the_o judge_n mean_v of_o god_n with_o which_o repentance_n cain_n and_o judas_n perish_v &_o wherewith_o at_o length_n all_o ungodlye_a man_n perish_v after_o that_o they_o begin_v to_o feel_v what_o anger_n of_o god_n &_o what_o damnation_n they_o have_v purchase_v to_o themselves_o through_o their_o sinful_a act_n but_o as_o paul_n say_v we_o must_v necessare_o have_v repentance_n towards_o god_n that_o be_v to_o say_v we_o must_v therefore_o be_v greve_v for_o our_o sin_n and_o fear_v the_o judgement_n of_o god_n because_o we_o have_v offend_v god_n our_o creator_n and_o redeemer_n and_o have_v forsake_v he_o through_o sin_n that_o besides_o contrition_n for_o our_o sin_n there_o be_v in_o we_o also_o a_o burn_v desire_n and_o study_v of_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n a_o trust_n to_o obtain_v the_o same_o and_o a_o sure_a purpose_n to_o amend_v our_o lyve_n and_o to_o yield_v ourselves_o whole_o in_o to_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n al_n which_o thing_n a_o true_a repentance_n must_v have_v desire_v and_o perceyve_v and_o that_o through_o our_o only_a bischoppe_n and_o redeemer_n jesus_n cehrist_n which_o alone_o stir_v up_o and_o work_v true_a repentance_n in_o we_o while_o he_o make_v the_o preachinge_a of_o repentance_n effectual_a in_o our_o herte_n gyvinge_v his_o increase_n of_o the_o preachinge_a of_o repentance_n but_o to_o raise_v up_o this_o repentance_n in_o our_o herte_n we_o must_v chief_o use_v the_o preachinge_a of_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n wherewith_o he_o satisfy_v god_n the_o father_n for_o our_o sin_n and_o we_o must_v also_o use_v a_o continual_a declaration_n and_o repetinge_v of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n wherein_o god_n show_v what_o thing_n he_o allow_v in_o we_o and_o what_o he_o disalow_v and_o how_o gentle_o and_o bountious_o he_o handle_v they_o that_o obey_v his_o commaundimente_n and_o how_o rigorous_o christ_n that_o repentance_n must_v be_v teach_v out_o of_o the_o ignominious_a death_n of_o christ_n he_o punish_v they_o that_o contemn_v the_o same_o wherefore_o the_o preacher_n in_o their_o sermon_n and_o in_o the_o administration_n of_o the_o sacrament_n must_v preach_v the_o death_n of_o the_o lord_n with_o singular_a diligence_n and_o set_v before_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o people_n and_o warn_v they_o studious_o that_o the_o son_n of_o god_n which_o never_o commit_v any_o sin_n suffer_v that_o most_o bitter_a and_o shanful_a death_n only_o for_o our_o sin_n for_o they_o shall_v teach_v that_o they_o be_v so_o abominable_a in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o they_o can_v be_v purge_v with_o none_o other_o sacrifice_n with_o no_o merit_n or_o peyne_n either_o of_o man_n or_o angel_n but_o only_o with_o the_o precious_a death_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n for_o this_o cause_n the_o preacher_n shall_v admonish_v man_n of_o the_o greatness_n of_o sin_n and_o of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o they_o shall_v stir_v they_o up_o to_o repent_v earness_o and_o because_o christ_n our_o lord_n be_v the_o only_a glass_n and_o exemplar_n of_o a_o godly_a life_n we_o may_v learn_v certain_o and_o substantial_o out_o of_o the_o life_n and_o obedience_n of_o christ_n to_o what_o manner_n of_o life_n we_o be_v make_v and_o call_v what_o stubburne_v there_o be_v in_o we_o against_o god_n and_o what_o corruption_n of_o nature_n whereby_o
promise_n for_o it_o have_v a_o peculiar_a and_o large_a promise_n of_o long_a life_n in_o the_o land_n which_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n gyve_v namely_o in_o which_o god_n be_v call_v upon_o and_o worship_v whereupon_o his_o eye_n look_v to_o show_v bountiousnes_n on_o it_o for_o it_o become_v they_o to_o have_v long_o life_n in_o the_o people_n of_o god_n which_o submit_v themselves_o and_o show_v themselves_o obedient_a and_o thankful_a to_o their_o parent_n to_o the_o power_n and_o to_o all_o man_n so_o in_o the_o sixth_o comaundement_n the_o preacher_n shall_v teach_v first_o that_o soul_n and_o all_o his_o strength_n but_o none_o of_o the_o saint_n attein_v hereunto_o while_o they_o live_v here_o wherefore_o it_o behove_v to_o grant_n that_o all_o man_n be_v convict_v by_o this_o commandment_n and_o that_o no_o man_n lyve_v in_o this_o world_n which_o in_o deed_n be_v of_o a_o clean_a herte_n and_o have_v no_o need_n to_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o curse_n and_o follow_v which_o be_v most_o horrible_a of_o all_o that_o sin_n be_v punish_v with_o sin_n whereby_o great_a mischive_n and_o abomination_n spring_v forth_o for_o how_o great_a and_o how_o horrible_a not_o true_a faith_n but_o as_o it_o be_v a_o dream_a or_o rather_o a_o dead_a faith_n neither_o that_o we_o understande_v a_o maim_a faith_n as_o be_v in_o satan_n as_o be_v in_o judas_n and_o be_v in_o all_o they_o that_o despair_v of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n for_o this_o faith_n beleve_v not_o the_o
holy_a gospel_n but_o only_a part_n of_o the_o gospel_n i_o mean_v that_o part_n wherein_o god_n pronounce_v the_o everlasting_a punishment_n of_o the_o evil_a and_o not_o that_o part_n wherein_o he_o offer_v his_o grace_n to_o they_o that_o believe_v for_o they_o that_o have_v this_o faith_n believe_v that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n that_o make_v and_o rule_v all_o thing_n that_o punish_v the_o of_o adoption_n unto_o everlasting_a life_n and_o hereby_o bread_v in_o they_o and_o inflame_v a_o earnest_n and_o fervent_a love_n of_o god_n and_o work_v also_o a_o perpetual_a and_o effectuous_a study_n of_o all_o holiness_n and_o sincere_a &_o serviceable_a love_n towards_o our_o neighbour_n final_o bring_v to_o pass_v that_o they_o that_o believe_v give_v themselves_o altogether_o to_o
