mortal_a creature_n be_v as_o the_o roar_n of_o a_o lion_n o_o what_o be_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n the_o wrath_n of_o man_n can_v but_o reach_v to_o the_o body_n and_o estate_n of_o man_n but_o the_o anger_n of_o god_n reach_v to_o the_o soul_n the_o anger_n of_o man_n be_v finite_a the_o anger_n of_o god_n be_v infinite_a as_o himself_o be_v second_o reas_n 2_o the_o effect_n of_o the_o anger_n angry_a and_o sin_n not_o since_o he_o be_v only_o angry_a at_o sin_n as_o a_o father_n that_o see_v a_o serpent_n in_o his_o child_n bosom_n he_o hate_v the_o serpent_n but_o love_v the_o child_n so_o here_o god_n be_v not_o angry_a with_o his_o child_n to_o destroy_v they_o but_o with_o their_o sin_n to_o save_v they_o and_o howsoever_o the_o sin_n of_o his_o choose_a may_v so_o far_o provoke_v the_o lord_n to_o wrath_n as_o to_o turn_v his_o smile_n into_o frown_n which_o god_n many_o time_n do_v by_o their_o sin_n and_o those_o fruit_n of_o his_o love_n be_v many_o time_n turn_v into_o the_o effect_n of_o his_o hatred_n in_o outward_a appearance_n yet_o then_o even_o then_o be_v they_o belove_v of_o he_o and_o the_o lord_n be_v about_o to_o do_v they_o good_a god_n never_o hate_v any_o who_o he_o once_o love_v in_o christ_n neither_o can_v any_o sin_n of_o any_o of_o god_n elect_n cause_v the_o lord_n to_o reject_v they_o though_o the_o lord_n hate_v sin_n in_o they_o of_o the_o word_n or_o by_o some_o sharp_a affliction_n they_o have_v have_v their_o sin_n discover_v and_o their_o conscience_n awaken_v fall_v to_o sport_n and_o pastime_n and_o merry_a company_n and_o drink_v away_o care_v and_o to_o put_v away_o these_o melancholic_a thought_n as_o they_o call_v they_o out_o of_o their_o head_n and_o use_v all_o mean_n possible_o to_o thrust_v out_o of_o their_o mind_n the_o thought_n of_o sin_n that_o they_o may_v not_o be_v trouble_v like_o a_o man_n in_o a_o burn_a fever_n that_o drink_v cold_a water_n which_o at_o last_o do_v but_o increase_v his_o fit_n alas_o what_o cold_a comfort_n be_v this_o to_o a_o distress_a conscience_n whereas_o the_o only_a way_n be_v to_o fly_v unto_o god_n to_o confess_v sin_n and_o by_o true_a repentance_n and_o godly_a sorrow_n to_o lay_v the_o soul_n low_a at_o the_o footstool_n of_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n with_o david_n and_o to_o beg_v for_o mercy_n o_o fill_v we_o with_o thy_o mercy_n we_o of_o god_n saint_n in_o this_o life_n reas_n 1_o have_v no_o grace_n in_o perfection_n we_o be_v not_o capable_a of_o fullness_n of_o grace_n in_o this_o life_n but_o must_v pray_v still_o lord_z themselves_o that_o when_o they_o have_v get_v a_o little_a taste_n and_o feel_n of_o god_n love_n and_o of_o the_o work_n of_o grace_n in_o theirsoul_n have_v a_o little_a measure_n of_o knowledge_n of_o faith_n and_o other_o grace_n content_v themselves_o and_o think_v they_o have_v enough_o but_o this_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v if_o ever_o thou_o have_v any_o true_a taste_n of_o god_n mercy_n in_o christ_n it_o will_v make_v thou_o hunger_n and_o thirst_n after_o more_o and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n exhort_v 1.2_o 2_o pet._n 1.2_o that_o as_o new_a bear_v babe_n we_o shall_v desire_v the_o sincere_a milk_n of_o the_o word_n that_o we_o may_v grow_v thereby_o he_o add_v if_o you_o have_v taste_v how_o sweet_a the_o lord_n be_v intimate_v thus_o much_o that_o until_o such_o time_n feel_n of_o god_n love_n fill_v their_o sack_n say_v joseph_n scanty_a sack_n can_v not_o carry_v away_o any_o plentiful_a store_n of_o provision_n where_o faith_n be_v weak_a &_o the_o neck_n of_o the_o soul_n narrow_a and_o straight_o there_o will_v be_v but_o a_o little_a measure_n of_o the_o feel_n of_o god_n mercy_n which_o shall_v stir_v we_o up_o to_o grow_v in_o faith_n because_o as_o our_o faith_n grow_v so_o our_o feel_n of_o god_n mercy_n grow_v satisfy_v we_o early_o or_o in_o the_o morning_n that_o be_v with_o speed_n they_o that_o lust_n for_o a_o thing_n can_v endure_v to_o be_v delay_v it_o be_v death_n to_o a_o thirsty_a man_n to_o belongwithout_n drink_v so_o they_o that_o have_v their_o soul_n scorch_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o god_n anger_n o_o it_o be_v mercy_n they_o long_v for_o and_o such_o a_o soul_n think_v every_o hour_n ten_o and_o every_o day_n a_o year_n till_o they_o be_v refresh_v with_o god_n mercy_n all_o delay_n to_o such_o distress_a soul_n
