that_o want_v a_o heart_n can_v give_v because_o he_o will_v not_o both_o therefore_o be_v requisite_a and_o for_o the_o get_n of_o both_o we_o must_v use_v these_o mean_n first_o we_o must_v serious_o consider_v of_o these_o many_o precept_n promise_n and_o threat_n which_o be_v in_o the_o book_n of_o god_n concern_v this_o duty_n press_v they_o upon_o ourselves_o and_o say_v do_v not_o drunkenness_n game_n and_o sinful_a expense_n by_o which_o man_n serve_v the_o devil_n and_o the_o flesh_n from_o needless_a journey_n and_o contentious_a suit_n in_o law_n from_o excess_n in_o work_n of_o kindness_n in_o attire_n feast_v householdstuff_n etc._n etc._n and_o true_o we_o shall_v be_v willing_a to_o deny_v ourselves_o in_o that_o which_o be_v much_o more_o then_o enough_o to_o minister_v to_o they_o that_o have_v less_o then_o enough_o 3._o we_o must_v lay_v up_o in_o store_n for_o mercy_n we_o must_v have_v a_o poor_n man_n box_n in_o our_o house_n as_o david_n when_o he_o intend_v to_o build_v a_o house_n for_o god_n he_o provide_v all_o thing_n aforehand_o in_o abundance_n so_o must_v we_o for_o work_n of_o mercy_n 1_o cor._n 16.1_o when_o thus_o it_o lie_v by_o we_o we_o will_v give_v it_o with_o a_o free_a heart_n quest._n how_o much_o must_v we_o lay_v aside_o answ._n be_v sure_a to_o do_v it_o in_o convenient_a abundance_n rather_o with_o the_o more_o than_o ability_n not_o after_o our_o neighbour_n nigardlinesse_n again_o how_o know_v thou_o that_o thou_o give_v as_o much_o as_o another_o of_o thy_o estate_n do_v thou_o know_v all_o that_o he_o give_v or_o what_o his_o estate_n be_v obâ—ect_n but_o i_o do_v not_o know_v that_o my_o neighbour_n be_v so_o poor_a answ._n first_o you_o can_v meek_a god_n with_o pretend_v ignorance_n prov._n 24.12_o second_o why_o do_v you_o not_o inform_v yourselves_o by_o inquire_v and_o seek_v to_o know_v why_o be_v you_o so_o inquisitive_a in_o inquire_v after_o all_o other_o thing_n and_o so_o careless_a in_o this_o to_o be_v ignorant_a then_o be_v your_o fault_n and_o one_o fault_n can_v excuse_v another_o object_n but_o i_o have_v little_a enough_o for_o myself_o and_o family_n answ._n first_o he_o that_o have_v two_o coat_n may_v think_v that_o he_o have_v little_a enough_o and_o yet_o he_o be_v command_v to_o part_n with_o one_o second_o probable_o its_o self-love_n that_o make_v thou_o think_v that_o thou_o have_v little_a enough_o can_v thou_o think_v so_o short_a a_o pittance_n as_o thy_o brother_n have_v enough_o for_o he_o and_o all_o thy_o abundance_n little_a enough_o for_o thou_o obj._n but_o i_o must_v provide_v for_o my_o family_n and_o therefore_o can_v give_v answ._n if_o this_o be_v a_o good_a argument_n than_o none_o shall_v give_v but_o the_o same_o god_n that_o bid_v thou_o to_o provide_v for_o thy_o family_n bid_v thou_o give_v too_o therefore_o thou_o must_v do_v both_o and_o not_o strive_v so_o to_o overdo_v for_o the_o one_o as_o to_o neglect_v the_o other_o provide_v moderate_o for_o thy_o own_o and_o thou_o shall_v have_v sufficient_a for_o the_o poor_a too_o object_n but_o i_o have_v not_o wherewithal_o to_o be_v still_o give_v i_o can_v spare_v it_o answ._n have_v thou_o for_o fine_a clothes_n for_o fine_a fare_n etc._n etc._n and_o have_v thou_o not_o for_o work_n of_o mercy_n suppose_v thy_o hat_n shall_v be_v lose_v have_v thou_o not_o wherewith_o to_o buy_v another_o yes_o why_o then_o wherefore_o have_v thou_o not_o wherewith_o to_o relieve_v a_o poor_a man_n object_n but_o if_o i_o shall_v lose_v again_o and_o again_o i_o shall_v have_v nothing_o at_o length_n answ._n it_o may_v be_v so_o but_o thou_o may_v give_v so_o moderate_o that_o thou_o may_v have_v still_o something_o to_o give_v object_n i_o give_v enough_o according_a to_o my_o estate_n why_o then_o do_v you_o press_v i_o to_o give_v more_o answ._n if_o this_o be_v true_a it_o be_v a_o good_a answer_n but_o in_o most_o i_o prove_v it_o to_o be_v false_a for_o compare_v thy_o expense_n for_o mercy_n with_o those_o for_o superfluity_n in_o entertainment_n in_o clothes_n etc._n etc._n they_o be_v far_o inferior_a those_o of_o mercy_n be_v nothing_o in_o comparison_n of_o the_o other_o whereas_o god_n bid_v feast_v the_o poor_a and_o not_o the_o rich_a i._n e._n rather_o than_o the_o rich_a therefore_o its_o evident_a that_o thou_o do_v not_o enough_o for_o mercy_n object_n yea_o â—ut_v my_o place_n require_v answ._n and_o do_v not_o thy_o place_n require_v that_o thou_o shall_v be_v rich_a in_o mercy_n as_o well_o as_o in_o clothes_n and_o other_o thing_n know_v therefore_o that_o till_o thou_o be_v as_o abundant_a in_o work_n of_o mercy_n as_o in_o other_o thing_n god_n do_v not_o account_v that_o thou_o have_v do_v enough_o object_n but_o the_o poor_a be_v unthankful_a it_o answ._n first_o all_o be_v not_o so_o therefore_o give_v to_o they_o that_o be_v thankful_a second_o one_o man_n fault_n must_v not_o dispense_v with_o another_o man_n duty_n thou_o be_v unthankful_a to_o god_n yet_o he_o give_v so_o must_v thou_o three_o take_v heed_n that_o thou_o do_v not_o causeless_o accuse_v they_o for_o unthankfulness_n which_o thou_o must_v prove_v object_n but_o they_o be_v idle_a and_o bring_v poverty_n upon_o themselves_o by_o their_o idleness_n and_o wastfulness_n answ._n first_o have_v thou_o before_o admonish_v they_o of_o slanderer_n as_o well_o as_o a_o niggard_n and_o that_o be_v a_o double_a fault_n object_n but_o they_o be_v such_o as_o have_v wrong_v i_o answ._n choose_v to_o give_v to_o such_o for_o so_o thou_o shall_v show_v more_o charity_n and_o have_v a_o great_a reward_n we_o be_v command_v to_o feed_v our_o hungry_a enemy_n and_o have_v a_o special_a blessing_n promise_v for_o it_o and_o this_o be_v to_o imitate_v god_n who_o love_v we_o when_o we_o be_v enemy_n nbject_n but_o if_o i_o be_v still_o give_v i_o shall_v give_v all_o away_o answ._n use_v thy_o discretion_n in_o give_v as_o in_o other_o thing_n and_o thou_o need_v not_o do_v it_o a_o man_n may_v be_v very_o bountiful_a and_o yet_o reserve_v enough_o for_o other_o good_a use_n 2_o cor._n 9.8_o object_n if_o i_o give_v so_o
