commandment_n two_o thing_n be_v here_o contain_v a_o commandment_n and_o a_o exhortation_n to_o obedience_n the_o exhortation_n which_o be_v annex_v unto_o the_o commandment_n consist_v of_o five_o property_n of_o god_n which_o ought_v to_o stir_v we_o up_o to_o obey_v god._n 1_o he_o call_v himself_o our_o god_n that_o be_v our_o maker_n and_o saviour_n and_o the_o author_n of_o all_o good_a thing_n hereby_o than_o he_o advertise_v we_o what_o execrable_a unthankfulness_n it_o be_v to_o revolt_v from_o the_o true_a worship_v of_o he_o unto_o idolatry_n 2_o he_o call_v himself_o a_o mighty_a god_n that_o be_v who_o be_v mighty_a in_o power_n as_o well_o to_o punish_v the_o obstinate_a as_o to_o reward_v the_o obedient_a 3_o he_o term_v himself_o a_o jealous_a god_n that_o be_v a_o most_o sharp_a defender_n of_o his_o own_o honour_n wonderful_o displease_v with_o such_o as_o revolt_v from_o he_o or_o violate_v and_o impair_v his_o honour_n and_o worship_n now_o see_v jealousy_n or_o indignation_n conceive_v for_o any_o injury_n or_o dishonesty_n arise_v from_o his_o love_n which_o be_v hurt_v god_n do_v hereby_o withal_o signify_v that_o he_o do_v ardent_o and_o entire_o love_v those_o who_o be_v he_o 4_o he_o call_v himself_o a_o god_n which_o visit_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o father_n upon_o the_o child_n unto_o the_o three_o and_o four_o generation_n of_o they_o that_o hate_v he_o whereby_o he_o exaggerate_v or_o increase_v the_o grievousnesse_n of_o his_o anger_n and_o their_o punishment_n when_o he_o threaten_v also_o and_o denounce_v unto_o the_o child_n and_o to_o the_o child_n child_n and_o to_o the_o child_n child_n child_n of_o his_o enemy_n even_o to_o the_o four_o degree_n and_o descent_n to_o take_v vengeance_n on_o the_o sin_n of_o their_o ancestor_n in_o they_o if_o namely_o they_o also_o partake_v with_o the_o sin_n of_o their_o ancestor_n but_o to_o this_o commination_n or_o denouncement_n the_o say_n of_o ezechiel_n cap._n 18._o seem_v to_o be_v repugnaunt_a the_o soul_n that_o sin_v it_o shall_v die_v the_o son_n shall_v not_o bear_v the_o iniquity_n of_o the_o father_n neither_o shall_v the_o father_n bear_v the_o iniquity_n of_o the_o son_n but_o in_o the_o same_o place_n be_v add_v a_o reconcilement_n of_o these_o two_o place_n of_o scripture_n if_o a_o wicked_a man_n beget_v a_o son_n that_o see_v all_o his_o father_n sin_n which_o he_o have_v do_v and_o fear_v neither_o do_v the_o like_a he_o shall_v not_o die_v in_o the_o iniquity_n of_o his_o father_n but_o shall_v sure_o live_v he_o threaten_v then_o that_o he_o will_v punish_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o ancestor_n in_o their_o posterity_n that_o be_v such_o as_o persist_v in_o the_o sin_n of_o their_o ancestor_n who_o it_o be_v meet_v and_o just_a to_o be_v partaker_n also_o of_o their_o punishment_n if_o any_o man_n reply_n that_o by_o this_o mean_v the_o posterity_n rue_v only_o their_o own_o sin_n and_o not_o the_o sin_n also_o of_o their_o ancestor_n this_o reply_n be_v false_a and_o of_o no_o consequence_n for_o there_o may_v be_v and_o be_v oftentimes_o more_o impellent_fw-fr and_o motive_n cause_v of_o one_o effect_n and_o the_o cause_n of_o one_o punishment_n be_v mo_z sin_n as_o well_o of_o diverse_a as_o of_o the_o same_o man_n if_o further_o it_o be_v urge_v that_o vengeance_n be_v not_o take_v on_o the_o ancestor_n sin_n in_o the_o posterity_n because_o the_o sense_n and_o feel_n of_o those_o pain_n which_o the_o posterity_n suffer_v reach_v not_o to_o the_o ancestor_n we_o answer_v first_o that_o the_o posterity_n be_v a_o part_n of_o their_o ancestor_n of_o who_o they_o come_v and_o therefore_o that_o be_v feel_v of_o they_o as_o it_o be_v in_o some_o part_n of_o they_o which_o their_o posterity_n suffer_v second_o we_o say_v that_o the_o ancestor_n be_v torment_v and_o vex_v when_o they_o understand_v or_o see_v their_o offspring_n in_o this_o life_n and_o in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v to_o be_v afflict_v three_o we_o say_v that_o beside_o the_o feel_n or_o fellowship_n of_o grief_n the_o punishment_n of_o their_o posterity_n do_v belong_v unto_o they_o by_o a_o relation_n in_o as_o much_o as_o god_n pronounce_v that_o he_o therefore_o do_v inflict_v this_o on_o the_o posterity_n that_o thereby_o he_o may_v testify_v how_o great_o he_o be_v angry_a and_o offend_v both_o with_o theâ—_n sin_n and_o with_o the_o sin_n
