mercy_n and_o fatherly_a love_n &_o hang_v thereon_o the_o assurance_n of_o our_o salvation_n the_o cause_n say_v i_o why_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n be_v that_o in_o our_o work_v there_o be_v no_o righteousness_n which_o may_v answer_v for_o we_o before_o god_n but_o we_o be_v all_o to_o be_v condemn_v but_o now_o god_n have_v so_o receive_v we_o with_o this_o condition_n that_o he_o forgive_v we_o all_o our_o sin_n and_o that_o not_o only_o for_o a_o day_n but_o for_o all_o the_o time_n of_o our_o life_n not_o that_o we_o shall_v sin_v under_o colour_n that_o god_n will_v be_v merciful_a unto_o we_o let_v we_o take_v heed_n of_o that_o but_o because_o we_o be_v frail_a and_o weak_a god_n will_v always_o continue_v his_o goodness_n towards_o us._n and_o far_o when_o we_o do_v any_o good_a there_o be_v yet_o some_o evil_n even_o in_o that_o good_a which_o we_o do_v for_o we_o never_o give_v any_o alm_n with_o such_o perfectness_n as_o be_v requisite_a but_o god_n may_v always_o find_v some_o fault_n or_o other_o in_o it_o it_o be_v with_o our_o work_n as_o man_n use_v to_o say_v of_o wine_n that_o there_o be_v still_o some_o fault_n or_o other_o in_o it_o it_o be_v good_a wine_n will_v one_o say_v but_o it_o have_v take_v wind_n it_o be_v too_o sharp_a it_o be_v musty_a or_o there_o be_v i_o know_v not_o what_o in_o it_o it_o be_v turn_v and_o so_o the_o wine_n be_v nothing_o worth_a even_o so_o be_v it_o with_o our_o work_n there_o be_v always_o some_o spot_n or_o other_o in_o they_o so_o that_o god_n shall_v have_v just_a cause_n to_o reject_v they_o see_v it_o be_v so_o we_o have_v need_v to_o be_v bear_v withal_o at_o his_o hand_n as_o a_o child_n be_v bear_v withal_o by_o his_o father_n and_o in_o very_a deed_n he_o have_v make_v we_o such_o a_o express_a promise_n by_o his_o prophet_n malachi_n 103.13_o mal._n 3.17_o psal._n 103.13_o that_o he_o will_v spare_v we_o even_o as_o a_o father_n spare_v his_o child_n who_o perceive_v his_o child_n to_o be_v willing_a to_o do_v that_o which_o he_o command_v he_o although_o he_o do_v not_o his_o work_n so_o perfect_o as_o be_v requisite_a he_o shall_v will_v not_o deal_v rigorous_o with_o he_o if_o so_o be_v he_o go_v about_o it_o with_o a_o willing_a and_o cheerful_a mind_n so_o than_o you_o see_v why_o it_o be_v say_v that_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n but_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v on_o the_o contrary_a side_n that_o our_o work_n shall_v be_v reckon_v unto_o we_o for_o righteousness_n it_o be_v because_o god_n accept_v they_o and_o why_o be_v it_o because_o they_o be_v worthy_a to_o be_v accept_v or_o for_o that_o they_o have_v any_o merit_n in_o they_o no._n but_o because_o of_o the_o covenaunt_n and_o agreement_n which_o he_o have_v make_v with_o we_o that_o see_v we_o be_v member_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n he_o bear_v with_o we_o he_o pardon_v we_o our_o sin_n and_o accept_v that_o which_o we_o offer_v unto_o he_o although_o it_o be_v worth_a nothing_o yet_o be_v it_o enough_o that_o he_o accept_v of_o it_o according_a unto_o this_o reason_n it_o be_v say_v in_o this_o place_n that_o the_o almesdeede_n which_o we_o do_v for_o god_n sake_n shall_v be_v accept_v at_o his_o hand_n for_o righteousness_n and_o this_o let_v not_o but_o that_o we_o be_v justify_v alonelie_o by_o faith_n for_o when_o righteousness_n be_v refer_v unto_o his_o fountain_n from_o whence_o proceed_v it_o from_o the_o free_a mercy_n of_o god_n in_o that_o he_o forgive_v we_o our_o sin_n now_o since_o it_o be_v ground_v upon_o that_o we_o must_v not_o imagine_v that_o there_o be_v any_o contradiction_n in_o these_o place_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o brief_o note_v that_o when_o our_o lord_n say_v that_o the_o alm_n which_o we_o bestow_v shall_v be_v reckon_v to_o we_o for_o righteousness_n it_o be_v to_o encourage_v we_o the_o more_o to_o the_o intent_n we_o shall_v not_o fear_v that_o either_o our_o pain_n or_o our_o money_n be_v lose_v when_o we_o have_v relieve_v the_o necessity_n of_o the_o poor_a and_o when_o we_o have_v this_o lesson_n we_o will_v not_o come_v and_o lay_v the_o foundation_n of_o our_o salvation_n upon_o our_o work_v but_o we_o will_v always_o build_v the_o assurance_n of_o our_o salvation_n on_o the_o only_a mercy_n of_o god_n and_o upon_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n by_o who_o sacrifice_n we_o be_v reconcile_v and_o through_o who_o obedience_n all_o our_o sin_n and_o iniquity_n be_v do_v away_o this_o say_v i_o be_v the_o mean_n to_o assure_v we_o of_o our_o salvation_n and_o thus_o when_o we_o have_v settle_v our_o trust_n and_o confidence_n in_o the_o only_a mercy_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n we_o will_v have_v no_o mind_n to_o stand_v upon_o our_o work_v but_o it_o will_v suffice_v we_o that_o be_v accept_v by_o the_o free_a mercy_n of_o god_n without_o any_o merit_n or_o deseruable_a worthiness_n of_o our_o work_n he_o will_v give_v we_o will_n strength_n and_o power_n to_o serve_v he_o to_o serve_v he_o i_o say_v not_o after_o our_o own_o fantasy_n but_o according_o as_o he_o command_v us._n now_o let_v we_o kneel_v down_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o our_o good_a god_n with_o acknowledgement_n of_o our_o fault_n pray_v he_o to_o take_v they_o away_o and_o therewithal_o so_o to_o refourme_v we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n as_o our_o mark_v when_o this_o be_v treat_v of_o for_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o moses_n speak_v of_o this_o instruction_n why_o so_o for_o if_o we_o be_v not_o subdue_v it_o be_v hard_o for_o we_o to_o submit_v ourselves_o to_o god_n nay_o rather_o we_o draw_v clean_a back_n from_o he_o therefore_o must_v our_o lord_n be_v fain_o to_o correct_v this_o loftiness_n in_o we_o and_o when_o he_o see_v we_o after_o that_o sort_n either_o rebellious_a or_o stubborn_a or_o that_o we_o be_v dull_a upon_o the_o spur_n he_o must_v use_v such_o mean_n as_o he_o know_v to_o be_v fit_a to_o reclaim_v we_o withal_o we_o see_v how_o moses_n say_v here_o that_o the_o wonder_n which_o be_v wrought_v at_o the_o publish_n of_o the_o law_n serve_v as_o it_o be_v for_o a_o nurture_a to_o the_o intent_n that_o the_o people_n shall_v no_o more_o be_v so_o unruly_a as_o they_o have_v be_v before_o but_o become_v more_o fit_n to_o be_v teach_v but_o this_o vice_n reign_v not_o among_o the_o jew_n only_o it_o be_v to_o be_v find_v continual_o among_o all_o man_n therefore_o let_v we_o learn_v to_o make_v our_o own_o profit_n of_o the_o thing_n that_o our_o lord_n have_v give_v we_o for_o the_o authorise_a of_o his_o word_n that_o we_o play_v not_o the_o wood_n beast_n but_o behave_v ourselves_o as_o meek_a sheep_n and_o lamb_n to_o hearken_v to_o the_o voice_n of_o our_o shepherd_n seed_n after_o they_o howbeit_o that_o he_o say_v thy_o seed_n after_o he_o moses_n change_v here_o the_o number_n and_o not_o without_o cause_n for_o after_o he_o have_v speak_v of_o the_o father_n he_o return_v to_o one_o alone_a that_o be_v to_o wit_n to_o abraham_n because_o it_o be_v he_o with_o who_o god_n make_v the_o covenant_n and_o again_o it_o serve_v to_o magnify_v the_o grace_n that_o be_v mention_v here_o as_o shall_v be_v declare_v anon_o more_o at_o large_a the_o effect_n of_o y_fw-fr e_o thing_n y_z t_o moses_n intend_v to_o tell_v y_z e_o people_n be_v that_o it_o be_v a_o great_a shame_n for_o they_o and_z y_z t_z they_o be_v unexcusable_a if_o they_o know_v not_o the_o goodness_n of_o their_o god_n and_o why_o because_o god_n of_o his_o own_o free_a mercy_n choose_v they_o not_o for_o that_o they_o be_v better_a than_o other_o nation_n as_o shall_v be_v show_v more_o at_o length_n hereafter_o or_o for_o that_o there_o be_v more_o nobleness_n worthiness_n or_o virtue_n in_o they_o but_o for_o that_o it_o please_v he_o to_o love_v their_o father_n now_o we_o see_v that_o the_o meaning_n of_o moses_n be_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v thus_o you_o have_v here_o a_o inestimable_a benefit_n above_o all_o people_n namely_o that_o god_n vouchsafe_v to_o reign_v among_o you_o that_o he_o have_v sanctify_v you_o to_o himself_o that_o you_o be_v his_o forefather_n see_v then_o that_o god_n have_v choose_v you_o after_o such_o a_o sort_n you_o see_v there_o be_v none_o other_o cause_n of_o the_o come_n of_o salvation_n unto_o you_o but_o only_o his_o mere_a goodness_n now_o therefore_o consider_v how_o much_o you_o be_v bind_v to_o your_o god_n and_o be_v not_o unthankful_a to_o he_o neither_o suffer_v such_o a_o benefit_n to_o slip_v from_o be_v set_v down_o here_o to_o express_v the_o better_a that_o that_o thing_n come_v not_o of_o the_o people_n themselves_o but_o that_o god_n be_v the_o first_o beginner_n thereof_o that_o be_v one_o point_v which_o we_o ought_v to_o mark_v well_o for_o it_o be_v not_o only_o here_o that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n speak_v thereof_o but_o all_o the_o whole_a scripture_n be_v full_a of_o that_o doctrine_n namely_o of_o tell_v we_o that_o we_o must_v not_o seek_v the_o cause_n of_o our_o salvation_n in_o ourselves_o as_o who_o shall_v say_v we_o be_v better_a than_o other_o man_n 12.4_o 1._o folk_n be_v as_o good_a as_o blind_v and_o deaf_a still_o now_o when_o the_o gospel_n be_v preach_v in_o any_o place_n it_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o choose_v and_o it_o be_v the_o very_a same_o that_o moses_n speak_v of_o here_o see_v then_o that_o god_n cause_v his_o word_n to_o rain_v upon_o we_o so_o as_o we_o have_v our_o fill_n of_o it_o every_o day_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a season_n other_o much_o great_a rich_a and_o noble_a city_n want_v it_o and_o be_v destitute_a of_o it_o let_v we_o understande_v that_o this_o so_o great_a benefit_n come_v not_o of_o our_o own_o seek_v neither_o have_v we_o obtain_v it_o by_o our_o own_o travel_n or_o policy_n but_o it_o be_v god_n that_o have_v choose_v we_o to_o it_o of_o his_o own_o mercy_n mark_v that_o for_o one_o point_n 2.8_o eph._n 2.8_o again_o whereas_o it_o please_v he_o to_o give_v we_o faith_n so_o as_o we_o taste_v of_o his_o word_n and_o be_v thorough_o feed_v with_o it_o and_o it_o touch_v we_o inward_o at_o the_o very_a heart_n let_v we_o understand_v that_o y_o it_o be_v a_o second_o sort_n of_o choose_v which_o god_n make_v of_o us._n so_o then_o let_v we_o yield_v he_o his_o deserve_a praise_n for_o in_o withhold_v it_o from_o he_o we_o be_v traitor_n to_o he_o and_o we_o bereave_v he_o of_o the_o thing_n that_o belong_v alone_o unto_o he_o and_o in_o so_o do_v we_o set_v up_o ourselves_o as_o idol_n in_o his_o steed_n for_o a_o man_n can_v take_v a_o great_a honour_n to_o himself_o than_o to_o bear_v himself_o in_o hand_n that_o he_o be_v the_o author_n of_o his_o own_o salvation_n and_o that_o it_o be_v he_o that_o prevent_v god_n if_o we_o imagine_v so_o it_o be_v a_o deface_v of_o god_n glory_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o bear_v this_o lesson_n well_o in_o mind_n howbeit_o forasmuch_o as_o man_n be_v malicious_a &_o when_o they_o can_v abolish_v god_n praise_v altogether_o they_o darken_v it_o as_o much_o as_o they_o can_v moses_n exclude_v here_o express_o all_o worthiness_n of_o person_n and_o all_o desert_n of_o work_n
overcome_v they_o by_o do_v good_a for_o evil_n but_o this_o will_v be_v the_o better_a understand_v if_o we_o take_v the_o matter_n by_o part_n first_o we_o must_v call_v to_o mind_n here_o what_o have_v be_v declare_v upon_o the_o six_o chapter_n 6.1.2_o deut._n 6.1.2_o that_o be_v to_o wit_n that_o it_o be_v not_o for_o we_o to_o measure_v god_n judgement_n after_o our_o fancy_n for_o we_o must_v needs_o grant_v that_o sometime_o they_o be_v as_o a_o bottomless_a pit_n but_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o they_o cease_v not_o to_o be_v rightful_a still_o then_o shall_v we_o not_o always_o see_v the_o reason_n of_o god_n do_n but_o yet_o must_v we_o like_v well_o of_o they_o without_o gainsay_v for_o it_o be_v good_a reason_n that_o all_o creature_n shall_v stoop_v to_o he_o and_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v bind_v to_o yield_v any_o account_n and_o therefore_o when_o the_o thing_n that_o god_n command_v we_o seem_v strange_a let_v we_o hold_v our_o mind_n in_o awe_n and_o subjection_n and_o yield_v god_n so_o much_o honour_n as_o to_o confess_v that_o he_o be_v righteous_a &_o just_a though_o we_o perceive_v it_o not_o let_v that_o serve_v for_o one_o point_n again_o when_o we_o see_v he_o utter_v such_o rigour_n towards_o other_o as_o to_o we_o may_v seem_v excessive_a therein_o let_v we_o acknowledge_v his_o goodness_n and_o mercy_n towards_o we_o for_o he_o may_v do_v the_o like_a to_o us._n of_o what_o or_o of_o who_o be_v it_o long_o that_o we_o perish_v not_o as_o well_o as_o they_o upon_o who_o god_n pour_v out_o the_o extremity_n of_o his_o rigour_n it_o be_v certain_a that_o our_o sin_n have_v well_o deserve_v that_o as_o much_o shall_v befall_v we_o but_o god_n bear_v with_o we_o of_o his_o infinite_a goodness_n therefore_o let_v we_o stand_v in_o awe_n for_o though_o god_n use_v goodness_n and_o patience_n towards_o we_o as_o now_o yet_o have_v not_o he_o forget_v our_o fault_n except_o we_o ourselves_o do_v bear_v they_o in_o mind_n to_o have_v pity_n on_o the_o poor_a and_o to_o relieve_v they_o in_o their_o need_n that_o be_v to_o be_v note_v for_o one_o point_n again_o for_o the_o other_o he_o say_v thus_o go_v to_o you_o be_v of_o opinion_n that_o all_o be_v lose_v which_o you_o give_v unto_o a_o poor_a man_n and_o that_o because_o he_o have_v not_o wherewith_o to_o recompense_v you_o or_o because_o he_o be_v unthankful_a promise_v unto_o abraham_n shall_v come_v of_o his_o seed_n 7.14_o 2._o sam._n 7.14_o he_o confirm_v and_o ratify_v that_o which_o we_o hear_v in_o this_o text_n say_v if_o thy_o seed_n do_v fall_v
