forehead_n do_v the_o priest_n shall_v make_v a_o cross_n upon_o the_o child_n forehead_n sign_n he_o with_o the_o sign_n of_o the_o cross_n in_o token_n that_o hereafter_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v ashamed_a to_o confess_v the_o faith_n of_o christ_n crucify_v and_o manful_o to_o fight_v under_o his_o banner_n against_o sin_n the_o world_n and_o the_o devil_n and_o to_o continue_v christ_n faithful_a soldier_n and_o servant_n unto_o his_o life_n end_v amen_n ¶_o then_o shall_v the_o priest_n say_v see_v now_o dear_o belove_a brethren_n that_o this_o child_n be_v by_o baptism_n regenerate_v and_o graft_v into_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n church_n let_v we_o give_v thanks_o to_o almighty_a god_n for_o these_o benefit_n and_o with_o one_o accord_n make_v our_o prayer_n unto_o be_v partaker_n of_o his_o resurrection_n so_o that_o final_o with_o the_o residue_n of_o thy_o holy_a church_n he_o may_v be_v a_o inheritor_n of_o thy_o everlasting_a kingdom_n through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n amen_o ¶_o then_o all_o stand_v up_o the_o minister_n shall_v make_v this_o exhortation_n to_o the_o godfather_n and_o godmother_n forasmuch_o as_o this_o child_n have_v promise_v by_o you_o his_o surety_n to_o renounce_v the_o devil_n and_o all_o his_o work_n to_o believe_v in_o god_n and_o to_o serve_v he_o you_o must_v remember_v that_o it_o be_v your_o part_n lord_n prayer_n and_o the_o ten_o commandment_n in_o the_o vulgar_a tongue_n and_o all_o other_o thing_n which_o a_o christian_a ought_v to_o know_v and_o believe_v to_o his_o soul_n health_n and_o that_o this_o child_n may_v be_v virtuous_o bring_v up_o to_o lead_v a_o godly_a and_o a_o christian_a life_n remember_v always_o that_o baptism_n do_v represent_v unto_o we_o our_o profession_n which_o be_v to_o follow_v the_o example_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n and_o be_v make_v like_o unto_o he_o that_o as_o he_o die_v and_o rise_v again_o for_o we_o so_o shall_v we_o who_o be_v baptise_a die_v from_o sin_n and_o rise_v again_o unto_o righteousness_n continual_o mortify_v all_o our_o evil_n and_o corrupt_a affection_n and_o daily_a proceed_n in_o all_o virtue_n and_o godliness_n of_o live_v ¶_o but_o if_o they_o which_o bring_v the_o infant_n to_o the_o church_n do_v make_v such_o uncertain_a answer_n to_o the_o priest_n question_n as_o that_o it_o can_v appear_v that_o the_o child_n be_v baptise_a with_o water_n in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o father_n and_o of_o the_o son_n and_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o be_v essential_a part_n of_o baptism_n then_o let_v the_o priest_n baptise_v it_o in_o the_o form_n before_o appoint_v for_o public_a baptism_n of_o infant_n save_v that_o at_o the_o dip_v of_o the_o child_n in_o the_o font_n he_o shall_v use_v this_o form_n of_o word_n if_o thou_o be_v not_o already_o baptise_a n._n i_o baptise_v thou_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o father_n and_o of_o the_o son_n and_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n amen_n the_o ministration_n of_o baptism_n to_o such_o as_o be_v of_o ripe_a year_n and_o able_a to_o answer_v for_o themselves_o ¶_o when_o any_o such_o person_n as_o be_v of_o ripe_a year_n be_v to_o be_v baptiezd_v timely_a notice_n shall_v be_v give_v to_o the_o bishop_n or_o who_o he_o shall_v appoint_v for_o that_o purpose_n a_o week_n before_o at_o the_o least_o by_o the_o parent_n or_o some_o other_o discreet_a person_n that_o so_o due_a care_n may_v be_v take_v for_o their_o examination_n whether_o they_o be_v sufficient_o instruct_v in_o the_o principle_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n and_o that_o they_o may_v be_v exhort_v to_o prepare_v themselves_o with_o prayer_n and_o fast_v for_o the_o receive_n of_o this_o holy_a sacrament_n ¶_o and_o if_o they_o shall_v be_v find_v fit_a than_o the_o godfather_n and_o godmother_n the_o people_n be_v assemble_v upon_o the_o sunday_n or_o holiday_n appoint_v shall_v be_v ready_a to_o present_v they_o at_o the_o font_n immediate_o after_o the_o second_o lesson_n either_o at_o morning_n or_o evening_n prayer_n as_o the_o curate_n in_o his_o discretion_n wall_n think_v fit_a ¶_o and_o stand_v there_o the_o priest_n anew_o of_o water_n and_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n i_o beseech_v you_o to_o call_v upon_o god_n the_o father_n through_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n that_o of_o his_o bounteous_a goodness_n he_o will_v grant_v to_o these_o person_n that_o which_o by_o nature_n they_o can_v have_v that_o they_o may_v be_v baptize_v with_o water_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o receive_v into_o christ_n declare_v by_o his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n let_v we_o faithful_o and_o devout_o give_v thanks_o to_o he_o and_o say_v almighty_a and_o everlasting_a god_n heavenly_a father_n we_o give_v thou_o
