we_o must_v consider_v therefore_o when_o we_o pray_v in_o who_o presence_n we_o stand_v to_o who_o we_o speak_v and_o what_o we_o desire_v we_o stand_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o almighty_a creator_n of_o heaven_n &_o earth_n and_o all_o thing_n therein_o contain_v to_o who_o eternal_a majesty_n innumerable_a thousand_o of_o angel_n do_v assist_v seâ—ue_v and_o obey_v we_o speak_v unto_o he_o who_o know_v the_o secret_n of_o our_o heart_n before_o who_o nothing_o be_v more_o odious_a than_o hypocrisy_n and_o dissimulation_n we_o ask_v those_o thing_n which_o be_v most_o to_o his_o glory_n and_o the_o comfort_n of_o our_o conscience_n we_o must_v therefore_o diligent_o endeavour_n ourselves_o to_o remove_v all_o such_o thing_n as_o may_v offend_v his_o divine_a majesty_n and_o first_o that_o we_o be_v free_a from_o all_o worldly_a care_n &_o fleshly_a cogitation_n whereby_o our_o mind_n be_v carry_v hither_o and_o thither_o &_o be_v draw_v out_o of_o heaven_n and_o from_o the_o pure_a behold_v of_o god_n be_v press_v down_o to_o the_o earth_n and_o here_o let_v we_o call_v to_o mind_n how_o unreverent_o we_o abuse_v the_o great_a goodness_n of_o god_n call_v we_o into_o familiar_a talk_n with_o he_o when_o we_o have_v not_o that_o reverend_a fear_n of_o his_o sacred_a majesty_n that_o we_o will_v have_v of_o a_o earthly_a creature_n or_o a_o worldly_a prince_n but_o suffer_v our_o heart_n to_o be_v carry_v away_o with_o wander_a thought_n and_o worldly_a imagination_n be_v otherwise_o occupy_v and_o forsake_v he_o in_o the_o mid_n of_o our_o prayer_n as_o god_n be_v a_o spirit_n so_o he_o will_v be_v worship_v in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n that_o be_v in_o the_o inward_a affection_n of_o the_o heart_n &_o with_o a_o true_a faithful_a and_o unfeigned_a kind_n of_o worship_n and_o therefore_o as_o at_o all_o other_o time_n he_o require_v the_o heart_n so_o special_o in_o the_o time_n of_o prayer_n when_o we_o show_v ourselves_o in_o his_o presence_n &_o enter_v into_o communication_n with_o he_o &_o thereupon_o when_o he_o promise_v to_o hear_v all_o those_o that_o call_v upon_o he_o he_o make_v a_o restraint_n &_o say_v that_o call_v upon_o he_o in_o truth_n see_v therefore_o the_o chief_a duty_n of_o prayer_n consist_v in_o the_o heart_n we_o must_v with_o our_o whole_a heart_n pour_v out_o our_o prayer_n unto_o god_n the_o searcher_n of_o heart_n &_o with_o a_o sincere_a unfeigned_a &_o ardent_a affection_n &_o open_v of_o our_o heart_n before_o god_n call_v upon_o he_o or_o else_o we_o shall_v not_o find_v he_o let_v we_o know_v therefore_o that_o none_o prepare_v themselves_o right_o to_o prayer_n but_o such_o as_o have_v a_o reverend_a fear_n of_o god_n majesty_n which_o they_o can_v have_v that_o come_v not_o to_o it_o unburden_v of_o earthly_a care_n &_o affection_n and_o thiâ—_z be_v it_o that_o be_v mean_v in_o the_o scripture_n by_o the_o lift_n up_o of_o hand_n that_o we_o shall_v remember_v ourselves_o to_o be_v far_o off_o from_o god_n unless_o we_o lift_v up_o our_o heart_n &_o mind_n also_o on_o high_a an_o therefore_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o psalm_n 25._o to_o thou_o have_v i_o lift_v up_o my_o soul_n the_o scripture_n use_v also_o this_o manner_n of_o speech_n to_o lift_v up_o prayer_n that_o they_o which_o desire_v to_o be_v hear_v of_o god_n shall_v not_o have_v their_o mind_n carry_v away_o with_o earthly_a cogitation_n &_o vanity_n and_o though_o it_o be_v hard_a to_o be_v so_o bend_v to_o prayer_n but_o that_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o many_o high_a thought_n will_v creep_v upon_o we_o to_o hinder_v our_o prayer_n yet_o the_o more_o hard_a it_o be_v the_o more_o earnest_o we_o must_v wrestle_v to_o overcome_v all_o let_n and_o hindrance_n &_o labour_n with_o inward_a groan_n unto_o the_o lord_n 86._o that_o he_o will_v link_v our_o heart_n fast_o unto_o he_o and_o not_o suffer_v we_o to_o beledde_v away_o from_o he_o by_o the_o vain_a suggestion_n of_o satan_n who_o at_o all_o time_n compass_v we_o about_o be_v never_o more_o busy_a then_o when_o we_o address_v ourselves_o to_o prayer_n secret_o and_o subtle_o creep_v into_o our_o breast_n and_o call_v we_o back_o from_o god_n so_o that_o oftentimes_o when_o we_o with_o all_o reverence_n shall_v speak_v to_o god_n we_o find_v our_o heart_n talk_v with_o the_o vanity_n of_o the_o world_n or_o with_o the_o foolish_a imagination_n of_o our_o own_o heart_n final_o we_o must_v be_v in_o christian_n charity_n love_n and_o concord_n with_o all_o man_n seek_v unfeigned_a hearty_a and_o brotherly_a reconciliation_n if_o we_o have_v offend_v any_o man_n before_o we_o enter_v into_o prayer_n or_o else_o god_n will_v not_o hear_v our_o prayer_n yea_o they_o be_v otherwise_o execrable_a &_o full_a of_o damnable_a hypocrisy_n in_o god_n sight_n and_o this_o that_o be_v speak_v of_o prayer_n may_v be_v say_v also_o of_o hear_v of_o god_n word_n or_o any_o other_o service_n of_o god._n we_o must_v therefore_o lay_v aside_o all_o malice_n envy_n wrath_n grudge_n contention_n wrangle_v dissimulation_n all_o guileful_a crafty_a and_o subtle_a deal_n and_o with_o a_o single_a heart_n do_v to_o other_o as_o we_o will_v they_o shall_v do_v to_o we_o 2._o peter_n will_v that_o such_o as_o have_v once_o taste_v how_o good_a and_o bounteous_a the_o lord_n be_v and_o be_v become_v new_a creature_n by_o the_o heavenly_a regeneration_n through_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n shall_v like_v holy_a and_o innocent_a babe_n lay_v aside_o all_o such_o work_n of_o the_o flesh_n which_o do_v deprive_v a_o man_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god._n 5._o and_o s._n paul_n command_v we_o that_o lay_v aside_o those_o curse_a work_n of_o darkness_n we_o shall_v in_o the_o stead_n one_o another_o if_o any_o have_v a_o quarrel_n to_o another_o as_o christ_n forgive_v we_o and_o above_o all_o these_o thing_n say_v he_o put_v on_o love_n which_o be_v the_o bond_n of_o perfection_n and_o let_v the_o peace_n of_o
permanent_a thing_n and_o less_o mindful_a of_o transitory_a thing_n by_o reason_n hereof_o i_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o lament_v and_o to_o rejoice_v to_o lament_v because_o i_o be_o so_o earthly_a mind_v so_o little_a desirous_a of_o my_o home_n so_o unthankful_a for_o thy_o providence_n and_o fatherly_a protection_n here_o on_o earth_n to_o rejoice_v because_o of_o my_o home_n and_o the_o great_a glory_n thereof_o because_o thou_o do_v so_o provide_v for_o i_o here_o because_o thou_o do_v so_o correct_v and_o chasten_v i_o etc_n etc_n but_o alas_o i_o be_o altogether_o a_o wretch_n earthly_a and_o unthankful_a not_o only_o for_o these_o corporal_a benefit_n health_n riches_n friend_n fame_n wisdom_n etc_n etc_n for_o thy_o fatherly_a correction_n sickness_n temptation_n etc_n etc_n but_o also_o for_o thy_o heavenly_a benefit_n for_o christ_n jesus_n for_o the_o promise_n of_o thy_o spirit_n for_o thy_o gospel_n etc_n etc_n yea_o even_o for_o heaven_n itself_o and_o thy_o whole_a glory_n 106._o as_o the_o israelite_n be_v for_o the_o land_n of_o canaan_n and_o therefore_o never_o enjoy_v it_o but_o perish_v in_o the_o wilderness_n i_o be_o proud_a in_o prosperity_n and_o forget_v thou_o wax_v secure_a and_o careless_a i_o be_o impatient_a in_o the_o cross_n and_o too_o much_o consider_v worldly_a discommodity_n oh_o dear_a father_n forgive_v i_o live_v in_o such_o sort_n as_o other_o see_v they_o may_v in_o and_o by_o their_o holiness_n and_o godly_a conversation_n be_v occasion_v as_o to_o know_v thou_o so_o to_o sanctify_v thy_o name_n according_o and_o therefore_o thou_o set_v forth_o here_o unto_o i_o what_o be_v the_o chief_a &_o principal_a wish_n and_o desire_v of_o thy_o child_n and_o people_n chiâ—â—dren_n namely_o that_o thou_o in_o christ_n may_v be_v true_o know_v and_o honour_v both_o of_o themselves_o and_o of_o other_o inward_o and_o outward_o as_o by_o the_o contrary_a a_o man_n may_v easy_o perceive_v people_n and_o labour_v diligent_o after_o their_o vocation_n as_o they_o for_o the_o obtain_n of_o the_o other_o both_o to_o other_o and_o to_o they_o self_n do_v take_v no_o small_a pain_n in_o prayer_n study_n and_o godly_a exercise_n by_o reason_n hereof_o i_o see_v that_o i_o be_o far_o from_o this_o desire_n and_o lamentation_n which_o be_v in_o thy_o child_n ignorance_n i_o see_v my_o ignorance_n of_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o thou_o and_o thy_o name_n for_o else_o it_o have_v not_o need_v thou_o so_o by_o thy_o word_n to_o have_v reveal_v thyself_o i_o see_v also_o my_o own_o ignorance_n of_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o same_o for_o else_o will_v thou_o not_o have_v tell_v i_o that_o the_o sanctfy_n of_o thy_o name_n be_v the_o chief_a thing_n thou_o require_v of_o every_o man._n again_o need_n i_o see_v my_o great_a want_n of_o holiness_n for_o else_o thou_o need_v not_o to_o teach_v i_o to_o seek_v and_o pray_v for_o that_o i_o want_v not_o moreover_o i_o see_v my_o great_a perversity_n which_o will_v not_o seek_v at_o thy_o hand_n for_o sanctification_n although_o i_o see_v my_o need_n thereof_o for_o the_o which_o thou_o will_v not_o have_v command_v i_o to_o pray_v if_o i_o see_v my_o want_n will_v have_v pray_v unto_o thou_o for_o the_o same_o last_o of_o all_o love_n i_o see_v thy_o wonderful_a goodness_n which_o will_v undoubted_o give_v unto_o i_o sanctification_n and_o holiness_n for_o thou_o will_v not_o that_o i_o shall_v ask_v for_o that_o thing_n that_o thou_o will_v not_o give_v i_o so_o that_o i_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o lament_v and_o rejoice_v to_o lament_v because_o i_o be_o so_o far_o from_o this_o desire_n and_o lamentation_n which_o thy_o child_n have_v also_o because_o of_o my_o ignorance_n poverty_n perversity_n unthankfulness_n etc_n etc_n but_o most_o of_o all_o because_o thy_o holy_a name_n word_n and_o religion_n be_v so_o blaspheme_v both_o in_o doctrine_n &_o in_o live_v of_o many_o especial_o in_o this_o realm_n to_o rejoice_v i_o have_v great_a cause_n for_o thy_o exceed_a goodness_n and_o mercy_n which_o will_v so_o disclose_v thyself_o by_o thy_o work_n word_n and_o gospel_n which_o will_v open_v these_o thing_n thus_o unto_o i_o and_o also_o give_v unto_o i_o and_o other_o sanctification_n in_o thy_o sight_n by_o faith_n and_o in_o the_o sight_n of_o man_n by_o pureness_n of_o life_n and_o godly_a conversation_n but_o alas_o i_o do_v hearty_o neither_o the_o one_o nor_o the_o other_o that_o be_v lament_v or_o rejoice_v as_o thou_o father_n which_o search_v obey_v thy_o will_n that_o be_v to_o love_v thou_o with_o all_o our_o heart_n to_o love_v our_o neighbour_n as_o ourselves_o to_o die_v to_o ourselves_o to_o live_v to_o thou_o to_o take_v up_o our_o cross_n and_o to_o follow_v thou_o to_o believe_v to_o repent_v etc_n etc_n for_o else_o thou_o will_v never_o have_v bid_v we_o to_o pray_v for_o a_o thing_n which_o we_o shall_v not_o look_v for_o so_o that_o i_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o lament_v and_o rejoice_v to_o lament_v because_o of_o my_o miserable_a state_n and_o condition_n because_o of_o my_o sin_n ignorance_n poverty_n and_o perversity_n also_o because_o thy_o will_n be_v every_o where_o either_o not_o know_v or_o contemn_v and_o satan_n will_n the_o will_n of_o the_o world_n and_o of_o the_o flesh_n ready_o obey_v to_o it_o etc_n etc_n and_o by_o the_o help_n and_o work_n of_o the_o same_o spirit_n may_v suppress_v the_o will_n of_o the_o flesh_n again_o grant_v i_o thy_o holy_a spirit_n to_o reveal_v to_o i_o thy_o will_n declare_v in_o thy_o law_n and_o gospel_n that_o i_o may_v true_o know_v the_o same_o and_o inflame_v so_o my_o affection_n that_o i_o may_v will_v and_o love_v the_o same_o in_o such_o sort_n that_o it_o may_v be_v my_o meat_n and_o drink_v to_o do_v thy_o will._n here_o call_v to_o mind_v the_o ten_o commandment_n of_o god_n particular_o or_o general_o what_o therein_o he_o require_v and_o pray_v for_o the_o same_o particular_o as_o you_o see_v your_o need_n and_o that_o not_o only_o for_o yourself_o but_o also_o for_o other_o pray_v for_o patience_n to_o suffer_v what_o cross_n so_o ever_o god_n shall_v lay_v upon_o you_o and_o pray_v for_o they_o that_o be_v under_o the_o cross_n that_o they_o may_v be_v patient_a pray_v for_o spiritual_a wisdom_n in_o every_o cross_n peculiar_a or_o public_a that_o you_o may_v see_v and_o love_v god_n will._n give_v we_o this_o day_n our_o daily_a bread_n bread._n by_o bread_n the_o food_n of_o the_o body_n be_v understand_v all_o thing_n necessary_a for_o this_o corporal_a life_n as_o meat_n drink_n health_n success_n in_o our_o vocation_n etc_n etc_n give_v by_o this_o word_n give_v we_o shall_v understand_v that_o not_o only_o spiritual_a thing_n but_o also_o corporal_a benefit_n be_v god_n free_a gift_n and_o come_v not_o for_o our_o worthiness_n or_o travel_n take_v about_o the_o same_o although_o our_o travel_n be_v oftentimes_o mean_n by_o the_o which_o god_n do_v give_v corporal_a thing_n by_o daily_o we_o understand_v the_o content_a mind_n of_o thy_o child_n daily_n with_o that_o which_o be_v sufficient_a for_o the_o present_a time_n as_o have_v hope_n in_o thou_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o want_v but_o daily_o shall_v receive_v at_o thy_o hand_n plenty_n and_o enough_o of_o all_o thing_n by_o this_o word_n our_o be_v as_o well_o understand_v public_a benefit_n our_o as_o peace_n in_o the_o common_a weal_n good_a magistrate_n good_a law_n seasonable_a weather_n etc_n etc_n also_o particular_a benefit_n namely_o child_n health_n success_n in_o the_o work_n of_o our_o vocation_n etc_n etc_n and_o beside_o this_o by_o it_o we_o shall_v see_v the_o care_n even_o for_o corporal_a thing_n which_o thy_o child_n have_v for_o other_o as_o well_o as_o for_o themselves_o so_o that_o here_o i_o may_v learn_v how_o far_o i_o be_o from_o that_o i_o shall_v be_v and_o that_o i_o see_v thy_o child_n be_v come_v unto_o i_o see_v my_o ignorance_n also_o how_o that_o as_o spiritual_a thing_n do_v come_v from_o thou_o so_o do_v temporal_a thing_n and_o as_o they_o come_v from_o thou_o so_o be_v they_o conserve_v and_o keep_v of_o thou_o and_o therefore_o thy_o child_n be_v thankful_a &_o look_v for_o they_o as_o thy_o mere_a gift_n notwithstanding_o the_o mean_n which_o they_o use_v if_o they_o have_v they_o howbeit_o they_o use_v they_o but_o as_o mean_n 127._o for_o except_o thou_o work_v therewith_o all_o be_v in_o vain_a again_o here_o i_o be_o teach_v to_o be_v to_o see_v the_o compassion_n and_o brotherly_a care_n which_o thy_o child_n have_v one_o for_o a_o other_o last_o of_o all_o here_o i_o may_v see_v thy_o goodness_n which_o as_o thou_o will_v give_v i_o all_o thing_n necessary_a for_o this_o life_n or_o else_o thou_o will_v not_o bid_v i_o ask_v etc_n etc_n so_o thou_o command_v all_o man_n to_o pray_v and_o care_n for_o i_o &_o that_o bodily_a much_o more_o then_o if_o they_o be_v able_a they_o be_v command_v to_o help_v i_o both_o in_o body_n and_o soul_n by_o reason_n whereof_o i_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o lament_v and_o rejoice_v to_o lament_v because_o i_o be_o not_o so_o affect_v as_o thy_o child_n be_v because_o of_o my_o ignorance_n my_o ingratitude_n my_o perversity_n and_o contempt_n of_o thy_o goodness_n and_o of_o the_o of_o your_o child_n and_o family_n also_o your_o parent_n neighbour_n kinsfolk_n also_o your_o friend_n country_n magistrate_n etc_n etc_n as_o
you_o shall_v have_v time_n thereto_o and_o by_o god_n good_a spirit_n shall_v be_v provoke_v forgive_v we_o our_o debt_n as_o we_o forgive_v they_o that_o be_v debtor_n unto_o us._n debt_n by_o our_o debt_n we_o understand_v not_o only_o the_o thing_n we_o have_v do_v but_o the_o omission_n and_o leave_v undo_v of_o the_o good_a thing_n we_o ought_v to_o do_v our_o by_o our_o we_o understand_v i_o and_o sure_o i_o ought_v to_o be_v persuade_v of_o thy_o mercy_n though_o my_o sin_n be_v innumerable_a for_o i_o see_v not_o only_o in_o this_o but_o in_o every_o petition_n how_o that_o every_o one_o of_o the_o church_n pray_v for_o i_o yea_o christ_n thy_o son_n who_o sit_v on_o thy_o right_a hand_n pray_v for_o i_o etc_n etc_n oh_o dear_a father_n be_v merciful_a unto_o i_o and_o forgive_v i_o all_o my_o sin_n and_o of_o thy_o goodness_n give_v i_o thy_o holy_a spirit_n to_o open_v my_o eye_n that_o i_o may_v see_v sin_n the_o better_a to_o know_v it_o the_o more_o true_o to_o hate_v have_v commit_v heretofore_o remember_v if_o you_o have_v occasion_v any_o to_o sin_n to_o pray_v for_o they_o by_o name_n remember_v that_o god_n law_n shall_v be_v so_o dear_a unto_o we_o that_o the_o break_v thereof_o in_o other_o shall_v be_v a_o occasion_n to_o make_v we_o to_o lament_v with_o tear_n etc_n etc_n lead_v we_o not_o into_o temptation_n because_o of_o our_o continual_a &_o great_a infirmity_n because_o of_o the_o great_a diligence_n and_o subtlety_n of_o our_o enemy_n and_o because_o thou_o be_v wont_a to_o punish_v sin_n with_o sin_n which_o of_o all_o punishment_n be_v the_o great_a &_o most_o to_o be_v fear_v in_o this_o petition_n thou_o will_v have_v thy_o child_n to_o have_v the_o same_o in_o remembrance_n and_o for_o a_o remedy_n hereof_o thou_o have_v appoint_v prayer_n so_o that_o the_o only_a cause_n why_o any_o be_v overcome_v and_o lead_v into_o temptation_n be_v for_o that_o they_o forget_v what_o they_o desire_v in_o the_o petition_n go_v before_o this_o which_o shall_v never_o be_v out_o of_o their_o memory_n to_o provoke_v they_o to_o be_v more_o thankful_a to_o thou_o and_o more_o vigilant_a and_o heedy_a hereafter_o for_o fall_v common_o be_v unthankfulness_n pride_n security_n and_o forget_v of_o our_o self_n forget_v of_o other_o forgetfulness_n of_o god_n of_o our_o mortality_n etc_o etc_o the_o evil_n come_v of_o adversity_n common_o be_v impatiency_n murmur_a grudge_a despair_a contemn_v of_o god_n flatter_v of_o man_n steal_v lie_a with_o many_o other_o evil_n whereto_o tentation_n will_v entice_v a_o man_n that_o be_v leave_v to_o himself_o wicked_a where_o as_o to_o one_o that_o be_v guide_v with_o god_n spirit_n temptation_n be_v but_o trial_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_o comfort_n of_o the_o tempt_v and_o edify_v of_o thy_o church_n but_o as_o i_o say_v if_o a_o man_n be_v leave_v alone_o tentation_n entice_v even_o to_o the_o devil_n himself_o and_o therefore_o thy_o child_n pray_v to_o be_v displeasure_n &_o heavy_a plague_n at_o hand_n for_o our_o great_a wickedness_n than_o thou_o
and_o be_v our_o head_n on_o who_o we_o hang_v and_o hope_n that_o our_o poor_a petition_n shall_v not_o be_v in_o vain_a through_o he_o and_o for_o his_o name_n sake_n we_o beseech_v thou_o well_o to_o assure_v we_o of_o pardon_n and_o that_o thou_o do_v accept_v we_o into_o thy_o favour_n as_o thy_o dear_a child_n in_o christ_n and_o for_o his_o sake_n as_o to_o write_v thy_o law_n in_o our_o heart_n and_o so_o to_o work_v in_o we_o that_o we_o may_v now_o begin_v and_o go_v forward_o in_o beleve_v live_a fear_v obey_v pray_v hope_v and_o serve_v thou_o as_o thou_o do_v require_v blind_v with_o error_n overcharge_v with_o labour_n vex_v with_o tentation_n overcome_v with_o vain_a delight_n and_o pleasure_n of_o the_o world_n &_o miserable_o wrap_v in_o many_o kind_n of_o calamity_n wherefore_o oh_o lord_n arise_v and_o help_v i_o comfort_v my_o exile_n assuage_v my_o sorrow_n destroy_v the_o power_n of_o my_o enemy_n the_o kingdom_n of_o sin_n satan_n the_o world_n our_o iniquity_n may_v through_o thy_o goodness_n be_v merciful_o turn_v into_o cheapness_n and_o plenty_n for_o the_o love_n of_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n to_o who_o with_o thou_o and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v praise_n for_o ever_o amen_n in_o the_o time_n of_o war_n almighty_a god_n king_n of_o all_o king_n and_o governor_n of_o all_o thing_n â–ª_o who_o power_n no_o creature_n be_v able_a to_o resist_v to_o who_o it_o belong_v just_o to_o punish_v sinner_n and_o to_o be_v merciful_a to_o they_o that_o true_o repent_v save_v and_o deliver_v we_o we_o humby_a beseech_v thou_o from_o the_o hand_n of_o our_o enemy_n abate_v their_o pride_n assuage_v their_o malice_n and_o confound_v their_o device_n that_o we_o be_v arm_v with_o thy_o defence_n may_v be_v preserve_v from_o all_o peril_n to_o glorify_v thou_o which_o be_v the_o only_a giver_n of_o all_o victory_n through_o the_o merit_n of_o thy_o only_a son_n jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n so_o be_v it_o in_o the_o time_n of_o any_o common_a plague_n or_o sickness_n oh_o almighty_a god_n which_o in_o thy_o wrath_n in_o the_o time_n of_o king_n david_n do_v slay_v with_o the_o plague_n of_o pestilence_n threescore_o and_o ten_o thousand_o and_o yet_o remember_v thy_o mercy_n do_v save_v the_o rest_n have_v pity_n upon_o we_o miserable_a sinner_n that_o now_o be_v visit_v with_o great_a sickness_n and_o mortality_n that_o like_a as_o thou_o do_v then_o command_v thinâ—_n angel_n to_o cease_v from_o punish_v so_o it_o may_v now_o please_v thou_o to_o withdraw_v from_o we_o this_o plague_n &_o grievous_a sickness_n through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n a_o prayer_n for_o the_o strength_n and_o comfort_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n almighty_a and_o most_o merciful_a god_n which_o give_v to_o thine_o elect_a people_n thy_o holy_a spirit_n as_o a_o sure_a pledge_n of_o thy_o heavenly_a kingdom_n we_o most_o humble_o beseech_v thou_o so_o to_o replenish_v our_o heart_n with_o the_o grace_n of_o thy_o holy_a spirit_n that_o he_o may_v bear_v witness_n to_o our_o spirit_n that_o we_o be_v thy_o child_n and_o heir_n of_o thy_o kingdom_n and_o that_o by_o the_o gracious_a work_n of_o this_o thy_o good_a spirit_n we_o may_v kill_v all_o â—aâ—nall-lustes_n unlawâ—full_a pleasure_n concupiscence_n and_o evil_a affection_n contrary_a to_o thy_o most_o bless_a will_n through_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n jesus_n christ._n so_o be_v it_o for_o sure_a hope_n and_o true_a taste_n of_o everlasting_a life_n oh_o almighty_a god_n which_o have_v prepare_v everlasting_a life_n for_o all_o those_o that_o be_v thy_o faithful_a servant_n grant_v unto_o we_o sure_a hope_n of_o this_o life_n everlasting_a that_o while_o we_o be_v here_o in_o this_o miserable_a world_n we_o may_v have_v some_o taste_n &_o feeling_n of_o it_o in_o our_o heart_n through_o the_o merit_n of_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n jesus_n christ._n so_o be_v it_o for_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o his_o word_n and_o a_o life_n agreeable_a to_o the_o same_o grant_v unto_o we_o oh_o merciful_a god_n we_o most_o hearty_o beseech_v thou_o knowledge_n and_o true_a understanding_n of_o thy_o bless_a will_n and_o word_n that_o all_o ignorance_n be_v expel_v we_o may_v know_v what_o thy_o will_n and_o pleasure_n be_v in_o all_o thing_n and_o how_o to_o do_v our_o duty_n and_o true_o to_o walk_v in_o our_o vocation_n and_o that_o also_o we_o may_v express_v in_o our_o live_v those_o thing_n that_o we_o do_v know_v that_o we_o be_v not_o only_a knower_n of_o thy_o will_n and_o word_n good_a lord_n but_o also_o may_v be_v hearty_a and_o faithful_a worker_n of_o the_o same_o through_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n jesus_n christ._n so_o be_v it_o a_o prayer_n for_o the_o strength_n and_o increase_n of_o faith_n oh_o almighty_a &_o everlasting_a god_n which_o not_o only_o give_v every_o good_a and_o perfect_a gift_n but_o also_o increase_v those_o gift_n that_o thou_o have_v give_v we_o most_o humble_o beseech_v thâ—e_n to_o increase_v in_o we_o the_o gift_n of_o faith_n that_o we_o may_v tâ—â—â—ly_o believe_v in_o thou_o and_o in_o thy_o promise_n make_v unto_o we_o in_o
