that_o god_n will_v perchance_o suffer_v we_o to_o endure_v many_o misery_n and_o when_o we_o be_v escape_v out_o of_o one_o we_o shall_v enter_v into_o another_o and_o that_o it_o may_v be_v as_o a_o continual_a exercise_n for_o we_o all_o the_o time_n of_o our_o life_n so_o as_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o respite_n for_o the_o poor_a child_n of_o god_n but_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v torment_v a_o over_o great_a unthankfulness_n and_o frowardness_n yet_o notwithstanding_o as_o oft_o as_o god_n help_v those_o that_o be_v he_o it_o be_v to_o assure_v they_o for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v to_o then_o come_v rest_n when_o god_n strip_v we_o out_o of_o this_o mortal_a body_n for_o you_o see_v how_o he_o than_o make_v a_o end_n of_o all_o our_o labour_n grief_n and_o battle_n but_o let_v it_o suffice_v we_o to_o have_v the_o plain_a meaning_n of_o this_o text_n which_o be_v that_o although_o we_o be_v toss_v with_o many_o misery_n during_o this_o present_a life_n god_n will_v continual_o make_v we_o way_n out_o of_o they_o and_o bring_v we_o to_o a_o good_a haven_n to_o be_v short_a mention_n be_v make_v here_o of_o seven_o correction_n after_o the_o common_a manner_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n for_o this_o say_a number_n of_o seven_o import_v a_o great_a and_o as_o it_o be_v a_o infinite_a quantity_n and_o here_o you_o see_v why_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o proverb_n that_o the_o righteous_a man_n fall_v seven_o time_n a_o day_n and_o rise_v again_o true_a it_o be_v that_o some_o man_n understand_v this_o to_o be_v mean_v of_o sin_v but_o solomon_n speak_v only_o of_o the_o mischance_n that_o we_o fall_v into_o for_o we_o be_v beat_v with_o many_o rod_n one_o while_o there_o come_v some_o disease_n and_o a_o other_o time_n some_o other_o adversity_n now_o some_o man_n shall_v trouble_v we_o and_o a_o one_o another_o shall_v do_v we_o some_o wrong_n you_o see_v then_o the_o fall_v which_o god_n child_n fall_v into_o so_o that_o in_o stead_n of_o hold_v they_o up_o with_o strong_a hand_n it_o seem_v that_o he_o let_v they_o tumble_v down_o like_o little_a babe_n which_o have_v no_o strength_n but_o what_o when_o we_o be_v so_o fall_v god_n do_v always_o relieve_v we_o and_o special_o as_o he_o say_v in_o another_o text_n he_o will_v have_v his_o hand_n under_o we_o and_o will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o fall_v over_o hard_o then_o let_v we_o learn_v by_o this_o strain_v that_o we_o be_v warn_v first_o of_o all_o not_o to_o marvel_v though_o it_o behoove_v we_o to_o come_v in_o many_o tribulation_n and_o why_o for_o god_n have_v set_v we_o in_o the_o world_n to_o the_o same_o purpose_n and_o end_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o for_o we_o too_o promise_v ourselves_o this_o or_o that_z and_o what_o shall_v we_o gain_v by_o bear_v ourselves_o in_o hand_n that_o we_o shall_v have_v that_o thing_n which_o be_v not_o in_o our_o power_n to_o have_v also_o god_n will_v always_o suffer_v we_o to_o be_v disappoint_v of_o our_o expectation_n when_o we_o be_v so_o foolish_a as_o to_o make_v our_o reckon_v without_o he_o and_o submit_v not_o ourselves_o to_o his_o government_n therefore_o no_o man_n must_v warrant_v himself_o a_o continual_a rest_n see_v that_o god_n will_v have_v we_o too_o fight_v and_o that_o it_o be_v his_o pleasure_n to_o exercise_v we_o so_o furthermore_o sith_o we_o see_v that_o we_o cease_v not_o to_o provoke_v god_n wrath_n and_o that_o there_o be_v such_o store_n of_o fault_n in_o we_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o we_o shall_v thereupon_o desire_v to_o live_v at_o our_o ease_n and_o in_o pleasure_n never_o to_o part_v from_o they_o be_v not_o that_o enough_o to_o make_v we_o rot_v in_o our_o own_o dung_n if_o god_n shall_v not_o scour_v we_o from_o they_o by_o affliction_n let_v we_o learn_v then_o to_o prepare_v ourselves_o to_o battle_n assure_v ourselves_o that_o while_n we_o live_v in_o this_o world_n we_o be_v not_o here_o as_o in_o a_o paradise_n but_o we_o be_v here_o to_o have_v many_o misery_n and_o trouble_n because_o god_n will_v be_v so_o and_o so_o we_o know_v that_o adversity_n be_v profitable_a for_o we_o yea_o and_o necessary_a for_o our_o salvation_n and_o that_o god_n be_v fain_o to_o visit_v and_o quicken_v we_o up_o after_o this_o manner_n thus_o much_o concern_v the_o first_o point_n how_o the_o holy_a ghost_n declare_v here_o that_o the_o faithful_a shall_v be_v subject_n to_o many_o infirmity_n for_o he_o speak_v not_o but_o of_o god_n child_n even_o of_o those_o to_o who_o he_o show_v mercy_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o say_v even_o of_o they_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v torment_v not_o of_o one_o affliction_n alone_o but_o of_o six_o or_o seven_o now_o by_o the_o way_n after_o we_o be_v warn_v to_o be_v patient_a in_o the_o faithful_a speak_v so_o it_o seem_v that_o they_o be_v nice_a and_o womanishe_v and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o these_o be_v they_o that_o be_v most_o strong_a and_o steadfast_a and_o who_o we_o have_v see_v govern_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n so_o as_o they_o have_v have_v a_o invincible_a courage_n have_v not_o david_n a_o goodly_a patience_n god_n exercise_v he_o very_o much_o and_o yet_o we_o see_v he_o always_o have_v the_o upper_a hand_n so_o he_o be_v never_o carry_v away_o unto_o wickedness_n for_o all_o the_o trouble_n that_o befall_v he_o you_o see_v here_o a_o man_n of_o arm_n who_o have_v be_v practise_v in_o all_o manner_n of_o battle_n not_o only_o for_o a_o day_n or_o for_o a_o year_n but_o all_o his_o life_n long_o and_o yet_o for_o all_o his_o experience_n he_o complain_v as_o if_o he_o have_v never_o be_v acquaint_v with_o any_o adversity_n or_o as_o if_o he_o wist_v not_o what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v afflict_v yea_o very_o but_o as_o i_o have_v say_v let_v we_o mark_v that_o he_o be_v not_o press_v with_o bodily_a harm_n and_o although_o he_o be_v sensible_a as_o other_o man_n be_v yet_o have_v it_o not_o great_o grieve_v he_o too_o bear_v any_o sickness_n or_o too_o suffer_v any_o such_o other_o like_o thing_n what_o be_v it_o then_o that_o drive_v he_o too_o complain_v so_o it_o be_v because_o he_o enter_v into_o himself_o and_o be_v touch_v in_o his_o conscience_n as_o though_o god_n have_v not_o only_o forsake_v he_o but_o also_o be_v become_v his_o deadly_a foe_n and_o pursue_v he_o even_o unto_o hell_n too_o say_v thou_o shall_v have_v neither_o peace_n nor_o truce_n but_o i_o will_v drown_v thou_o altogether_o see_v then_o that_o david_n be_v so_o press_v with_o the_o feel_n of_o his_o sin_n and_o perceive_v that_o god_n wrath_n be_v kindle_v against_o he_o you_o see_v what_o nip_v he_o even_o too_o the_o heart_n ezechias_n feel_v as_o much_o for_o god_n not_o only_o afflict_v he_o with_o sickness_n as_o may_v according_a as_o a_o man_n shall_v be_v weak_a and_o as_o god_n shall_v not_o have_v endue_v he_o with_o so_o great_a a_o grace_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n so_o very_o will_v he_o make_v he_o too_o feel_v his_o judgement_n thereafter_o howbeit_o he_o will_v hold_v he_o up_o and_o make_v he_o to_o taste_v of_o his_o mercy_n in_o the_o mid_n of_o his_o wrath_n so_o as_o the_o same_o shall_v not_o utter_o dismay_v he_o but_o as_o for_o he_o that_o have_v receive_v a_o more_o singular_a strength_n and_o who_o god_n have_v fortify_v with_o his_o holy_a spirit_n he_o must_v be_v fain_o to_o himself_o and_o now_o let_v we_o fall_v down_o before_o the_o face_n of_o our_o good_a god_n with_o acknowledgement_n of_o our_o sin_n pray_v he_o too_o make_v we_o feel_v they_o better_o than_o we_o the_o one_o be_v that_o when_o god_n have_v speak_v a_o thing_n and_o promise_v to_o be_v merciful_a and_o favourable_a to_o we_o and_o to_o succour_v we_o in_o all_o our_o need_n we_o must_v steadfast_o believe_v it_o and_o rest_n upon_o it_o without_o any_o doubt_v whither_o he_o will_v perform_v his_o promise_n or_o no._n why_o for_o his_o truth_n be_v infallible_a likewise_o on_o the_o contrary_a part_n if_o he_o threaten_v we_o we_o must_v tremble_v assure_v ourselves_o that_o it_o be_v not_o for_o we_o to_o dally_v with_o such_o a_o master_n thus_o you_o see_v to_o what_o end_n themselves_o wonder_v and_o as_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o prophet_n special_o in_o isaiah_n they_o make_v a_o
shall_v god_n goodness_n deface_v his_o glory_n aught_v it_o too_o bar_v we_o from_o humble_v ourselves_o unto_o he_o &_o from_o yield_v he_o his_o due_a honour_n no_o but_o clean_o contrary_a for_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o our_o lord_n speak_v so_o gross_o in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n it_o be_v his_o infinite_a goodness_n who_o see_v our_o wit_n so_o dull_a stammer_v with_o we_o see_v the_o case_n stand_v so_o let_v we_o learn_v to_o yield_v reverence_n to_o the_o holy_a scripture_n notwithstanding_o that_o our_o lord_n use_v a_o ordinary_a manner_n of_o speech_n yea_o even_o behold_v the_o heavenly_a power_n and_o godly_a majesty_n that_o be_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n see_v there_o be_v no_o paint_v nor_o file_a language_n after_o the_o manner_n of_o the_o worldling_n that_o study_v rhetoric_n and_o colour_v their_o word_n with_o a_o fond_a bravery_n in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n then_o we_o find_v gross_a language_n but_o behold_v the_o majesty_n of_o god_n show_v itself_o therewithal_o there_o be_v no_o fleshly_a nor_o earthly_a thing_n to_o set_v any_o gloss_n upon_o it_o but_o we_o be_v convince_v that_o god_n discover_v his_o own_o arm_n there_o yea_o and_o we_o be_v constrain_v to_o feel_v it_o and_o to_o speak_v it_o and_o therefore_o so_o little_o ought_v the_o simplicity_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n to_o cause_v we_o to_o despise_v it_o as_o we_o see_v the_o proud_a stink_a sort_n do_v which_o make_v no_o account_n of_o it_o that_o it_o ought_v rather_o to_o make_v we_o perceive_v that_o god_n need_v not_o to_o borrow_v any_o help_n elsewhere_o &_o that_o his_o power_n show_v itself_o there_o as_o it_o be_v too_o eyesight_n too_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v be_v the_o more_o move_v to_o honour_v he_o &_o to_o submit_v ourselves_o whole_o unto_o he_o therefore_o let_v we_o mark_v well_o that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o we_o to_o have_v a_o good_a desire_n to_o profit_n in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n but_o also_o that_o we_o must_v come_v to_o it_o with_o all_o reverence_n and_o desire_v nothing_o but_o to_o embrace_v all_o that_o be_v contain_v there_o not_o have_v our_o tongue_n file_v to_o prattle_v with_o god_n nor_o bring_v any_o doctrine_n or_o disputation_n against_o the_o pure_a doctrine_n of_o the_o scripture_n but_o conclude_v general_o and_o say_v look_v whatsoever_o be_v say_v to_o we_o here_o or_o whatsoever_o we_o read_v here_o we_o know_v it_o to_o be_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n lord_n see_v thou_o haste_v speak_v it_o it_o be_v enough_o for_o we_o it_o be_v not_o for_o we_o to_o reply_v it_o be_v meet_v for_o we_o to_o stand_v to_o that_o which_o thou_o have_v utter_v without_o any_o gainsay_n you_o see_v then_o that_o the_o thing_n which_o we_o have_v to_o note_v in_o this_o word_n wisdom_n be_v that_o where_o as_o man_n be_v draw_v away_o by_o their_o own_o vain_a imagination_n when_o they_o build_v new_a wisdom_n in_o the_o air_n we_o must_v say_v that_o our_o lord_n have_v not_o without_o cause_n entitle_v his_o word_n by_o the_o name_n of_o wisdom_n for_o his_o qualify_a of_o it_o after_o that_o sort_n be_v to_o show_v we_o that_o we_o must_v come_v thither_o and_o submit_v ourselves_o unto_o it_o &_o rest_v whole_o there_o and_o why_o for_o it_o be_v the_o thing_n wherein_o lie_v our_o whole_a perfection_n and_o as_o touch_v that_o which_o be_v say_v of_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n like_v as_o gold_n and_o silver_n be_v try_v in_o the_o furnace_n or_o by_o the_o tutchstone_n so_o must_v we_o be_v try_v that_o it_o may_v be_v know_v whither_o we_o have_v profit_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n that_o be_v to_o say_v whither_o we_o be_v edify_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n or_o no._n we_o go_v to_o a_o sermon_n and_o they_o that_o have_v the_o commodity_n do_v read_v holy_a scripture_n also_o very_o well_o it_o be_v a_o good_a and_o holy_a exercise_n and_o will_v god_n we_o be_v yet_o much_o more_o give_v unto_o it_o without_o all_o here_o you_o see_v also_o why_o solomon_n in_o the_o text_n that_o we_o allege_v out_o of_o the_o first_o chapter_n of_o his_o proverb_n say_v that_o the_o knowledge_n of_o holy_a thing_n be_v the_o true_a understanding_n after_o he_o have_v speak_v of_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n he_o set_v down_o the_o knowledge_n of_o holy_a thing_n see_v then_o that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v knit_v these_o two_o thing_n together_o in_o unseparable_a bond_n it_o behoove_v we_o also_o to_o knit_v they_o together_o hereby_o he_o mean_v that_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n will_v never_o be_v in_o we_o till_o we_o be_v come_v to_o the_o point_n that_o we_o speak_v of_o which_o be_v that_o we_o know_v god_n mercy_n as_o it_o be_v offer_v we_o in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n namely_o that_o we_o be_v draw_v unto_o he_o by_o his_o goodness_n where_o through_o he_o allure_v
allege_v no_o such_o thing_n and_o therefore_o thou_o may_v well_o seek_v to_o thy_o good_a god_n and_o return_v unto_o he_o &_o see_v he_o show_v himself_o so_o kindhearted_a and_o pitiful_a towards_o thou_o he_o will_v still_o be_v thy_o father_n and_o preserver_n you_o see_v they_o how_o this_o comparison_n ought_v to_o serve_v our_o turn_n and_o that_o it_o behove_v we_o to_o master_n our_o affection_n when_o we_o feel_v to_o much_o heartburning_n &_o repine_v in_o ourselves_o &_o that_o we_o be_v tempt_v to_o stomach_n &_o rebel_n against_o god_n it_o behove_v we_o i_o say_v to_o think_v upon_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v set_v down_o here_o and_o job_n allege_v again_o unto_o god_n that_o he_o be_v a_o poor_a frail_a man_n and_o near_o unto_o death_n and_o that_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o marvel_n why_o god_n shall_v persecute_v he_o so_o rough_o i_o know_v say_v he_o that_o thou_o will_v send_v i_o to_o the_o grave_n too_o the_o house_n that_o belong_v unto_o all_o that_o live_v see_v that_o the_o state_n of_o all_o man_n be_v such_o as_o thou_o have_v set_v they_o here_o too_o make_v they_o pass_v away_o as_o it_o be_v in_o a_o moment_n why_o shall_v thou_o try_v thyself_o and_o utter_v thy_o force_n upon_o they_o and_o against_o they_o lo_o what_o job_n meaning_n be_v we_o have_v hear_v the_o like_a sentence_n heretofore_o and_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o they_o be_v repeat_v here_o for_o undoubted_o god_n will_v have_v we_o to_o pray_v unto_o he_o and_o set_v the_o infirmity_n of_o our_o frail_a state_n before_o he_o to_o move_v he_o to_o take_v we_o to_o mercy_n and_o to_o ease_v we_o as_o when_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o psalm_n that_o the_o lord_n know_v how_o we_o be_v but_o dust_n &_o that_o when_o we_o have_v pass_v through_o this_o world_n we_o must_v be_v fain_o to_o come_v to_o rottenness_n and_o see_v we_o know_v that_o god_n spare_v we_o and_o pity_v our_o misery_n ought_v not_o that_o promise_n to_o move_v we_o to_o pray_v unto_o he_o after_o that_o sort_n and_o again_o in_o another_o text_n it_o be_v say_v that_o god_n forgive_v man_n sin_n because_o he_o see_v they_o be_v but_o a_o shadow_n that_o pass_v and_o vanish_v away_o therefore_o when_o we_o pray_v god_n too_o deliver_v we_o from_o our_o misery_n let_v we_o learn_v how_o we_o ought_v to_o allege_v that_o we_o ourselves_o be_v nothing_o and_o that_o although_o we_o have_v life_n yet_o we_o die_v in_o the_o turn_n of_o a_o hand_n insomuch_o that_o even_o in_o our_o chief_a flower_n and_o flourish_a time_n we_o be_v liken_v unto_o grass_n which_o be_v green_a to_o day_n and_o cut_v down_o tomorrow_o so_o as_o it_o with_o er_v and_o dry_v without_o moisture_n or_o substance_n the_o allege_v of_o these_o thing_n unto_o god_n will_v make_v he_o pitiful_a towards_o we_o to_o deliver_v we_o from_o our_o misery_n not_o that_o he_o have_v need_n to_o be_v put_v in_o mind_n for_o he_o know_v our_o infirmity_n better_a than_o we_o our_o self_n and_o therefore_o need_v not_o to_o be_v advertise_v of_o it_o but_o like_a as_o our_o pray_v to_o he_o be_v for_o our_o own_o self_n so_o likewise_o all_o the_o request_n and_o reason_n which_o we_o allege_v in_o our_o prayer_n be_v to_o our_o own_o use_n and_o profit_n then_o if_o a_o man_n allege_v unto_o god_n that_o he_o be_v a_o poor_a frail_a creature_n he_o sure_o job_n have_v not_o so_o good_a stay_n of_o himself_o here_o as_o he_o ought_v to_o have_v have_v for_o to_o what_o purpose_n say_v he_o i_o know_v i_o must_v go_v to_o the_o grave_n even_o too_o the_o house_n of_o all_o live_a creature_n no_o doubt_n but_o he_o show_v here_o excess_n of_o the_o passion_n wherewith_o he_o be_v tempt_v not_o that_o he_o be_v overcome_v of_o it_o but_o yet_o he_o feel_v such_o rebel_n in_o himself_o as_o he_o yield_v not_o so_o peaceable_o to_o god_n will_v as_o he_o ought_v to_o have_v do_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v thou_o try_v i_o here_o some_o faultiness_n except_o god_n preserve_v we_o by_o miracle_n i_o say_v heretofore_o that_o it_o be_v a_o good_a and_o holy_a thing_n that_o man_n which_o be_v smite_v by_o god_n hand_n shall_v for_o the_o obtain_n of_o mercy_n allege_v their_o own_o feebleness_n and_o show_v that_o their_o life_n be_v nothing_o and_o that_o they_o have_v not_o any_o strength_n in_o they_o and_o that_o death_n threaten_v they_o every_o minute_n of_o a_o hour_n this_o i_o say_v be_v a_o good_a and_o holy_a thing_n and_o it_o serve_v too_o humble_a we_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v offer_v unto_o god_n the_o sacrifice_n that_o please_v he_o so_o well_o but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o turn_v this_o thing_n to_o evil_a according_a as_o we_o see_v in_o this_o present_a example_n if_o a_o man_n say_v unto_o god_n lord_n who_o be_o i_o thou_o know_v i_o be_o but_o a_o shadow_n that_o pass_v and_o vanish_v away_o and_o all_o my_o strength_n be_v but_o a_o smoke_n if_o a_o man_n i_o say_v speak_v so_o and_o therewithal_o fret_v and_o repine_v because_o he_o think_v it_o strange_a that_o god_n shall_v chastise_v he_o no_o doubt_n but_o the_o same_o be_v a_o wicked_a and_o curse_v pass_v and_o yet_o as_o i_o have_v tell_v you_o this_o complaint_n be_v good_a and_o profitable_a and_o so_o it_o be_v in_o deed_n but_o man_n can_v not_o withhold_v themselves_o from_o mingle_v some_o excess_n always_o with_o it_o and_o from_o pervert_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a and_o so_o there_o be_v such_o a_o ungraciousness_n in_o our_o nature_n as_o we_o corrupt_v the_o good_a and_o turn_v it_o into_o evil_n so_o much_o the_o more_o than_o behove_v it_o we_o too_o stand_v always_o upon_o our_o guard_n and_o to_o mistrust_v ourselves_o see_v we_o be_v so_o waver_v that_o we_o can_v follow_v right_o forth_o the_o thing_n that_o god_n command_v we_o yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o must_v not_o therefore_o discomfort_v ourselves_o for_o our_o lord_n will_v take_v we_o in_o good_a worth_n so_o we_o condemn_v the_o excess_n in_o ourselves_o true_o we_o must_v not_o use_v here_o any_o flattery_n nor_o make_v ourselves_o believe_v that_o vice_n be_v not_o vice_n but_o we_o must_v condemn_v it_o &_o when_o we_o have_v so_o do_v no_o doubt_n but_o our_o lord_n receive_v we_o here_o withal_o it_o behove_v we_o to_o return_v to_o job_n intent_n i_o go_v to_o my_o grave_n say_v he_o and_o i_o know_v that_o none_o shall_v stretch_v his_o hand_n thither_o or_o that_o god_n shall_v not_o stretch_v his_o hand_n thither_o but_o the_o natural_a sense_n be_v this_o when_o never_o so_o many_o man_n have_v bewail_v i_o yet_o shall_v none_o of_o they_o stretch_v his_o hand_n thither_o to_o succour_v i_o when_o death_n have_v once_o catch_v i_o there_o be_v no_o more_o remedy_n all_o man_n help_n boot_v not_o we_o see_v then_o that_o job_n intent_n be_v to_o say_v see_v that_o death_n tarry_v for_o we_o and_o be_v allot_v to_o we_o and_o when_o we_o be_v dead_a we_o be_v clean_o honour_n to_o put_v he_o in_o trust_n with_o it_o we_o shall_v find_v in_o the_o end_n that_o he_o have_v be_v a_o good_a and_o faithful_a keeper_n of_o it_o and_o therefore_o if_o it_o please_v he_o to_o bring_v we_o to_o such_o a_o afterdeale_n for_o a_o time_n as_o we_o shall_v perceive_v no_o token_n of_o his_o favour_n but_o shall_v seem_v to_o be_v quite_o alienate_v from_o he_o let_v we_o tarry_v his_o leisure_n and_o mourn_v till_o he_o give_v we_o again_o the_o cheerfulness_n that_o be_v speak_v of_o here_o now_o after_o that_o eliu_n have_v treat_v of_o the_o affliction_n which_o god_n send_v to_o the_o faithful_a and_o show_v that_o they_o must_v first_o be_v cast_v down_o before_o god_n set_v they_o up_o he_o add_v that_o when_o god_n intend_v to_o make_v they_o feel_v his_o violent_a remedy_n but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o i_o procure_v your_o health_n by_o it_o and_o therefore_o consider_v you_o of_o this_o my_o goodness_n thus_o yeesee_v that_o when_o so_o ever_o god_n give_v we_o the_o holy_a scripture_n into_o our_o hand_n and_o we_o find_v there_o any_o promise_n of_o his_o mercy_n or_o if_o he_o send_v we_o a_o man_n that_o be_v able_a to_o warrant_v we_o pretend_v to_o give_v ourselves_o unto_o goodness_n when_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n our_o heart_n be_v far_o from_o it_o and_o we_o go_v the_o clean_a contrary_a way_n and_o again_o pride_n make_v we_o to_o desire_v always_o to_o be_v in_o good_a reputation_n alas_o we_o seek_v to_o be_v esteem_v among_o man_n or_o at_o leastwise_o to_o keep_v ourselves_o from_o reproach_n and_o although_o we_o know_v our_o own_o sin_n yet_o be_v we_o loath_a to_o be_v tell_v of_o they_o and_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n behold_v our_o condemnation_n increase_v and_o double_v before_o god_n and_o his_o angel_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o learn_v too_o tame_a this_o pride_n until_o it_o be_v full_o subdue_v so_o as_o we_o may_v come_v to_o our_o god_n with_o all_o humility_n and_o not_o only_o confess_v our_o wretchedness_n before_o he_o but_o also_o endeavour_n too_o edify_v our_o neighbour_n if_o a_o man_n demand_v for_o what_o cause_n we_o shall_v speak_v so_o before_o man_n there_o be_v two_o reason_n the_o one_o be_v that_o god_n may_v be_v know_v too_o be_v only_o righteous_a as_o i_o have_v say_v and_o that_o his_o grace_n may_v appear_v and_o shine_v forth_o although_o god_n can_v ourselves_o according_a as_o we_o see_v in_o very_a deed_n that_o the_o confession_n which_o the_o faithful_a have_v make_v in_o time_n past_a do_v serve_v at_o this_o day_n for_o our_o learning_n if_o we_o have_v not_o the_o example_n of_o david_n in_o the_o great_a number_n of_o affliction_n which_o he_o feel_v and_o overcome_v as_o soon_o as_o we_o feel_v any_o small_a adversity_n we_o shall_v forthwith_o be_v at_o the_o point_n of_o despair_n but_o when_o we_o see_v that_o the_o issue_v be_v good_a and_o profitable_a unto_o david_n and_o that_o he_o confess_v it_o too_o have_v be_v a_o necessary_a thing_n for_o he_o too_o be_v so_o afflict_v and_o chastise_v at_o god_n hand_n we_o also_o do_v trust_n in_o god_n and_o flee_v unto_o he_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o it_o be_v his_o shall_v visit_v they_o in_o their_o turn_n and_o that_o as_o i_o have_v say_v they_o may_v know_v themselves_o to_o be_v wretched_a sinner_n and_o seek_v the_o remedy_n of_o it_o by_o put_v their_o trust_n in_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o be_v more_o and_o more_o stir_v up_o too_o serve_v and_o honour_v he_o when_o they_o shall_v have_v feel_v his_o here_o job_n say_v here_o what_o be_v my_o strength_n true_a it_o be_v that_o his_o strength_n be_v nothing_o but_o when_o he_o know_v it_o and_o stay_v upon_o it_o be_v it_o not_o the_o next_o way_n too_o make_v he_o more_o impatient_a than_o he_o be_v afore_o job_n think_v that_o his_o strength_n fail_v he_o not_o save_v in_o the_o present_a misery_n that_o he_o endure_v but_o contrariwise_o take_v his_o sword_n or_o i_o wot_v not_o what_o lo_o how_o job_n run_v a_o head_n but_o we_o must_v demand_v and_o seek_v what_o our_o strength_n be_v not_o in_o ourselves_o but_o in_o he_o that_o strengthen_v we_o for_o we_o shall_v never_o find_v any_o thing_n but_o vanity_n in_o ourselves_o if_o we_o think_v ourselves_o to_o have_v strength_n to_o carry_v but_o one_o fardel_n we_o shall_v a_o very_a shadow_n so_o then_o forasmuch_o as_o we_o know_v how_o our_o strength_n be_v nothing_o let_v we_o conclude_v in_o general_a alas_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o i_o if_o god_n lie_v his_o hand_n upon_o i_o aught_v i_o not_o to_o endure_v a_o far_o greevous_a torment_n &_o yet_o notwithstanding_o not_o lift_v up_o myself_o against_o he_o then_o although_o god_n afflict_v we_o as_o uttermost_a and_o full_a height_n of_o all_o evil_a so_o then_o let_v we_o learn_v that_o if_o god_n will_v remedy_v our_o vice_n he_o must_v abate_v this_o devilish_a pride_n of_o we_o to_o make_v we_o too_o know_v it_o otherwise_o we_o shall_v never_o profit_v by_o all_o the_o chastisement_n that_o he_o can_v send_v we_o and_o when_o we_o know_v the_o evil_a that_o be_v in_o we_o we_o must_v
