it_o make_v the_o body_n to_o be_v subject_a to_o many_o great_a and_o fearful_a sickness_n and_o disease_n where_o from_o come_v these_o biles_fw-la the_o fever_n the_o palsy_n the_o pest_n the_o leprosy_n and_o other_o disease_n but_o from_o this_o corruption_n but_o i_o speak_v nothing_o of_o it_o i_o will_v let_v you_o see_v how_o it_o have_v spread_v itself_o in_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n brethren_n there_o be_v never_o a_o power_n nor_o faculty_n in_o the_o soul_n but_o all_o be_v infect_v this_o pest_n it_o have_v not_o only_o infect_v the_o inferior_a appetite_n as_o the_o blind_a philosopher_n think_v and_o as_o the_o papist_n do_v this_o day_n affirm_v but_o where_o begin_v it_o what_o be_v the_o most_o excellent_a power_n of_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v the_o understanding_n the_o mind_n and_o this_o be_v it_o that_o we_o call_v reason_n this_o corruption_n it_o have_v so_o enter_v into_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n that_o when_o as_o that_o understanding_n shall_v be_v as_o a_o light_n go_v before_o to_o direct_v all_o our_o action_n motion_n and_o thought_n the_o right_a way_n according_a to_o god_n word_n and_o ordinance_n it_o do_v nothing_o but_o fight_n and_o repine_v against_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o god_n of_o heaven_n it_o be_v a_o hard_a matter_n y_z t_o god_n have_v create_v this_o understanding_n and_o yet_o it_o fight_v against_o he_o paul_n say_v be_v refuse_v and_o eschew_v it_o fight_v not_o only_o direct_o against_o that_o most_o holy_a wisdom_n and_o will_n of_o god_n but_o even_o against_o that_o sponke_n of_o knowledge_n light_n and_o reason_n that_o be_v leave_v in_o man_n for_o when_o man_n fall_v in_o adam_n the_o lord_n take_v not_o all_o kind_n of_o light_n from_o man_n but_o he_o leave_v in_o his_o great_a mercy_n in_o man_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o worldly_a prince_n for_o the_o sight_n of_o their_o glory_n will_v not_o change_v thou_o nor_o make_v thou_o glorious_a but_o vanish_v away_o in_o a_o moment_n but_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o jesus_n shall_v change_v thou_o and_o make_v thou_o glorious_a whensoever_o thou_o behold_v he_o either_o by_o faith_n in_o this_o world_n or_o else_o face_n to_o thing_n to_o thy_o lord_n and_o master_n look_v if_o thou_o have_v a_o care_n to_o further_a other_o in_o the_o course_n of_o christianity_n and_o way_n of_o repentance_n then_o if_o thou_o have_v these_o token_n thou_o may_v rejoice_v then_o he_o go_v forward_o &_o he_o can_v sufficient_o set_v out_o that_o mercy_n which_o he_o find_v he_o know_v not_o how_o nor_o in_o what_o term_n to_o look_v if_o he_o think_v much_o of_o himself_o he_o be_v one_o of_o the_o cruel_a persecuter_n that_o ever_o be_v in_o the_o church_n he_o be_v in_o a_o rage_n against_o christ_n behold_v brethren_n paul_n be_v not_o ashamed_a to_o paint_v out_o himself_o in_o his_o own_o colour_n and_o particular_o to_o confess_v his_o former_a evil_a deed_n and_o to_o registrate_n they_o to_o his_o own_o shame_n to_o the_o world_n end_n yea_o you_o shall_v see_v in_o sundry_a place_n where_o he_o speak_v of_o himself_o that_o he_o can_v never_o satisfy_v himself_o in_o aggregate_a his_o own_o wickedness_n the_o sinner_n who_o have_v find_v mercy_n will_v not_o regard_v to_o discover_v his_o sin_n to_o his_o own_o shame_n and_o to_o tell_v all_o the_o world_n of_o they_o that_o he_o may_v lord_n with_o his_o own_o shame_n when_o david_n find_v mercy_n for_o his_o vile_a adultery_n and_o abominable_a murder_n he_o not_o only_o confess_v his_o sin_n to_o his_o own_o shame_n but_o also_o ascend_v to_o confess_v the_o natural_a corruption_n which_o he_o have_v from_o the_o loin_n of_o his_o parent_n the_o man_n that_o have_v fall_v into_o a_o notorious_a and_o vile_a sin_n and_o offence_n and_o yet_o for_o shame_n will_v not_o confess_v it_o that_o god_n may_v be_v glorify_v that_o soul_n have_v never_o feel_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o if_o thou_o have_v feel_v that_o mercy_n of_o god_n thy_o heart_n will_v be_v loose_v and_o thy_o mouth_n also_o to_o glorify_v god_n by_o a_o humble_a confession_n moreover_o you_o may_v perceive_v out_o of_o these_o word_n how_o and_o what_o way_n the_o apostle_n find_v the_o strength_n and_o power_n of_o the_o gospel_n he_o find_v a_o power_n in_o it_o but_o not_o at_o the_o first_o instant_n but_o ere_o ever_o he_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o the_o lord_n he_o find_v himself_o to_o be_v weak_a and_o ere_o he_o feel_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n he_o find_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o miserable_a man_n thou_o shall_v never_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o god_n except_o first_o thou_o feel_v thy_o own_o weakness_n and_o thou_o shall_v never_o feel_v his_o mercy_n except_o first_o thou_o feel_v thy_o misery_n and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n jesus_n many_o a_o time_n sundry_a way_n cross_v his_o own_o in_o this_o life_n to_o the_o end_n that_o they_o may_v know_v and_o feel_v their_o weakness_n and_o misery_n and_o so_o go_v use_v all_o the_o day_n of_o their_o life-time_n to_o expone_fw-la they_o to_o cross_n that_o every_o day_n find_v more_o their_o want_n infirmity_n and_o lack_v of_o comfort_n in_o themselves_o find_v in_o many_o other_o of_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n but_o assoon_o as_o he_o call_v they_o effectual_o he_o lay_v the_o cross_n upon_o they_o that_o see_v their_o weakness_n and_o distrust_v themselves_o they_o may_v learn_v to_o renounce_v themselves_o and_o desire_v to_o find_v the_o power_n and_o life_n of_o jesus_n in_o they_o which_o they_o will_v find_v effectual_a in_o the_o cross_n in_o a_o wonderful_a manner_n look_v 2._o cor._n 11._o the_o lord_n lay_v manifold_a cross_n upon_o paul_n and_o when_o with_o tear_n he_o pray_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v take_v they_o away_o he_o get_v this_o answer_n my_o grace_n be_v sufficient_a for_o thou_o for_o my_o power_n be_v make_v perfect_a through_o thy_o weakness_n mean_v that_o he_o will_v be_v glorify_v and_o make_v paul_n to_o find_v strength_n in_o he_o when_o as_o he_o be_v weak_a in_o himself_o and_o never_o one_o be_v strong_a in_o christ_n but_o when_o he_o feel_v himself_o weak_a therefore_o he_o subjoin_v that_o he_o will_v rejoice_v and_o take_v pleasure_n in_o his_o infirmity_n that_o the_o power_n of_o christ_n may_v dwell_v in_o he_o he_o say_v 2._o cor._n 12._o 8._o 9_o 10._o and_o 2._o cor._n 4._o 10._o every_o where_o we_o brare_n about_o in_o our_o body_n the_o die_a of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n that_o the_o life_n of_o jesus_n may_v also_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o our_o body_n etc._n etc._n when_o the_o body_n by_o cross_n be_v die_v than_o he_o find_v the_o life_n of_o christ_n and_o no_o soul_n shall_v find_v that_o life_n without_o it_o be_v die_v therefore_o if_o ever_o thou_o will_v find_v the_o power_n and_o life_n of_o christ_n in_o thou_o be_v careful_a to_o feel_v thy_o own_o weakness_n and_o misery_n yet_o mark_v the_o word_n he_o say_v notwithstanding_o of_o my_o persecution_n forgive_v thou_o and_o wonder_v thou_o as_o thou_o will_v all_o the_o angel_n of_o heaven_n wonder_v that_o sinner_n shall_v get_v mercy_n &_o that_o god_n love_v the_o unworthy_a world_n so_o that_o he_o will_v give_v his_o only_a son_n to_o die_v that_o they_o shall_v live_v for_o ever_o and_o they_o wonder_v when_o adam_n &_o the_o father_n of_o old_a get_v mercy_n but_o when_o christ_n come_v into_o the_o world_n to_o die_v for_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o world_n they_o wonder_v far_o more_o at_o that_o mercy_n and_o with_o cheerful_a voice_n praise_v god_n for_o the_o himself_o and_o show_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v give_v he_o mercy_n and_o salvation_n he_o set_v down_o next_o the_o end_n of_o this_o grace_n but_o herefore_o say_v he_o he_o have_v mercy_n on_o world_n that_o in_o christ_n his_o mercy_n may_v shine_v in_o the_o world_n what_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o this_o preach_n of_o the_o euangell_n why_o be_v it_o send_v that_o his_o mercy_n may_v shine_v in_o the_o world_n and_o all_o the_o pastor_n shall_v teach_v and_o proclaim_v this_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o not_o speak_v of_o judgement_n but_o when_o man_n regard_v not_o his_o mercy_n from_o all_o her_o iniquity_n as_o he_o will_v say_v i_o have_v tell_v you_o he_o be_v merciful_a &_o full_a of_o redemption_n but_o i_o come_v near_a hand_n thou_o shall_v find_v in_o experience_n that_o he_o be_v merciful_a &_o full_a of_o redemption_n so_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o the_o preacher_n of_o y_fw-fr e_o word_n to_o preach_v god_n mercy_n and_o redemption_n general_o to_o the_o world_n no_o they_o must_v come_v near_a hand_n &_o in_o promise_v they_o must_v make_v to_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o people_n a_o particular_a application_n and_o say_v not_o only_o god_n be_v merciful_a but_o he_o will_v be_v merciful_a unto_o you_o and_o he_o be_v full_a of_o redemption_n and_o he_o shall_v redeem_v you_o and_o so_o say_v i_o i_o have_v not_o be_v speak_v of_o mercy_n and_o redemption_n that_o appertain_v not_o to_o we_o but_o the_o lord_n shall_v be_v merciful_a and_o redeem_v you_o if_o you_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n for_o there_o be_v no_o grace_n but_o in_o he_o if_o this_o particular_a application_n be_v not_o make_v the_o conscience_n of_o sin_n be_v so_o great_a that_o the_o sinner_n dare_v not_o put_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o receive_v mercy_n now_o to_o who_o pertain_v mercy_n and_o redemption_n he_o say_v he_o shall_v redeem_v israel_n that_o be_v the_o church_n militant_a the_o church_n be_v militant_a in_o this_o world_n but_o redemption_n pertain_v to_o it_o in_o the_o end_n but_o where_o from_o shall_v the_o lord_n redeem_v y_z e_o church_n not_o from_o persecution_n and_o tribulation_n in_o this_o world_n but_o from_o all_o her_o sin_n so_o this_o presupponeth_n first_o that_o the_o church_n be_v full_a of_o sin_n so_o long_o as_o it_o be_v in_o this_o world_n this_o be_v but_o a_o vain_a dream_n to_o imagine_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o church_n or_o any_o member_n of_o the_o same_o in_o this_o world_n without_o spot_n away_o with_o that_o vanity_n so_o next_o the_o redemption_n of_o the_o church_n stand_v nor_o so_o much_o in_o free_v it_o from_o persecution_n or_o tribulation_n although_o she_o shall_v be_v redeem_v from_o all_o these_o thing_n also_o as_o from_o redeem_v she_o from_o sin_n the_o chiese_n redemption_n shall_v be_v from_o sin_n for_o why_o the_o great_a enemy_n of_o the_o church_n be_v she_o own_o sin_n &_o it_o be_v she_o own_o sin_n that_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o her_o persecution_n and_o it_o be_v sin_n that_o the_o lord_n mortify_v and_o slay_v by_o persecution_n and_o tribulation_n for_o if_o there_o be_v no_o sin_n there_o will_v not_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n as_o a_o persecuter_n or_o a_o tyrant_n against_o she_o and_o the_o great_a burden_n that_o y_z e_z godly_a feel_v be_v always_o their_o own_o sin_n &_o they_o be_v never_o under_o so_o great_a perfecution_n no_o cross_n no_o trouble_n comparable_a to_o the_o burden_n of_o sin_n paul_n say_v rom._n 7._o 24_o miserable_a man_n who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o where_o from_o not_o from_o persecution_n albeit_o he_o be_v subject_a to_o as_o great_a persecution_n as_o any_o man_n but_o from_o this_o body_n of_o sin_n because_o he_o can_v not_o get_v that_o obedience_n to_o god_n that_o he_o will_v have_v have_v and_o wherefore_o die_v christ_n be_v it_o to_o redeem_v we_o from_o persecution_n or_o cross_n in_o this_o world_n no_o the_o lord_n die_v that_o he_o may_v redeem_v we_o from_o sin_n with_o his_o precious_a blood_n and_o paul_n to_o y_o e_o corin_n make_v mention_n of_o that_o triumph_n that_o the_o church_n shall_v have_v when_o the_o lord_n jesus_n shall_v come_v o_o death_n where_o be_v thy_o sting_n then_o she_o shall_v glory_v that_o she_o be_v redeem_v from_o sin_n and_o from_o offend_v of_o god._n and_o that_o shall_v be_v our_o chief_a felicity_n in_o that_o life_n to_o come_v that_o our_o heart_n &_o thought_n shall_v be_v free_a of_o all_o sin_n we_o shall_v offend_v god_n no_o more_o but_o all_o shall_v be_v full_a of_o obedience_n to_o jesus_n trouble_v in_o their_o conscience_n for_o such_o do_v be_v not_o such_o man_n miserable_o deceive_v who_o when_o they_o be_v go_v to_o judgement_n and_o wrath_n rejoice_v yea_o when_o they_o be_v post_v to_o destruction_n take_v their_o pastime_n when_o they_o be_v run_v to_o condemnation_n laugh_v and_o who_o when_o they_o be_v most_o miserable_a think_v themselves_o most_o happy_a and_o a_o worm_n in_o his_o finger_n or_o tooth_n it_o will_v keep_v itself_o quiet_a and_o cease_v from_o gnaw_v for_o a_o season_n &_o he_o will_v think_v he_o be_v whole_a enough_o but_o take_v a_o little_a vinegar_n or_o some_o such_o like_a pierce_a and_o sharp_a water_n than_o she_o will_v begin_v to_o gnaw_v and_o then_o the_o silly_a man_n will_v complain_v that_o he_o be_v beguile_v when_o he_o think_v he_o be_v well_o enough_o even_o so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o conscience_n of_o man_n for_o it_o lie_v in_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n lurk_v as_o a_o worm_n lie_v in_o the_o flesh_n &_o sometime_o it_o gnaw_v and_o sometime_o it_o lie_v still_o and_o let_v the_o murderer_n the_o adulterer_n the_o oppressor_n go_v forward_o in_o murder_n adultery_n oppression_n and_o other_o most_o abominable_a sin_n without_o any_o accusation_n grief_n remorse_n or_o fear_v of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o threaten_v of_o the_o curse_n thereof_o i_o shall_v tell_v you_o more_o than_o that_o sometime_o the_o conscience_n of_o a_o miserable_a malefactor_n will_v be_v so_o senseless_a that_o it_o will_v no_o way_n be_v move_v by_o the_o preach_a a_o murderer_n will_v be_v sit_v before_o the_o minister_n a_o vile_a filthy_a adulterer_n will_v be_v sit_v there_o devise_v how_o to_o accomplish_v their_o abominable_a lust_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n that_o the_o minister_n will_v be_v threaten_v judgement_n against_o their_o wickedness_n they_o will_v not_o be_v move_v with_o the_o threaten_n but_o will_v disdain_v and_o scorn_v they_o in_o their_o heart_n and_o will_v say_v this_o fellow_n do_v nothing_o but_o prate_v and_o raise_v what_o he_o please_v and_o after_o preach_v will_v go_v out_o merry_o to_o his_o dinner_n and_o there_o curse_v and_o swear_v and_o blaspheme_v god_n name_n and_o thereafter_o go_v to_o his_o bed_n as_o a_o beast_n or_o a_o senseless_a sow_n but_o i_o admonish_v thou_o o_o miserable_a wretch_n in_o despite_n of_o thy_o tooth_n thy_o conscience_n shall_v not_o sleep_v always_o the_o conscience_n of_o all_o flesh_n shall_v be_v waken_v one_o day_n either_o to_o their_o weal_n or_o to_o their_o woe_n and_o that_o law_n which_o so_o secure_o man_n contemn_v many_o a_o time_n shall_v be_v so_o powerful_a to_o waken_v the_o conscience_n &_o to_o torment_v hem_o that_o by_o no_o mean_n nor_o policy_n shall_v they_o be_v able_a to_o pacify_v they_o again_o their_o drink_n their_o halk_n their_o hunt_n their_o card_v their_o dice_a and_o other_o pastime_n will_v not_o then_o bring_v comfort_n or_o true_a peace_n to_o the_o soul_n then_o that_o man_n who_o think_v himself_o most_o happy_a when_o he_o be_v enjoy_v the_o pleasure_n of_o sin_n shall_v think_v himself_o the_o most_o miserable_a wretch_n that_o ever_o the_o earth_n bear_v brethren_n the_o law_n that_o be_v give_v and_o threaten_v thereof_o be_v wondrous_a terrible_a and_o for_o as_o little_a as_o many_o man_n account_v of_o it_o yet_o either_o one_o time_n or_o other_o it_o shall_v be_v effectual_a to_o stir_v up_o and_o to_o waken_v the_o conscience_n of_o man_n i_o except_v no_o man_n and_o if_o the_o conscience_n sleep_v still_o on_o in_o this_o life_n till_o death_n overtake_v man_n as_o it_o do_v in_o many_o yet_o it_o shall_v be_v so_o waken_v after_o this_o life_n in_o hell_n that_o it_o shall_v never_o get_v leave_n to_o sleep_v again_o it_o natural_a uncleanness_n and_o be_v touch_v in_o conscience_n with_o the_o pollution_n which_o he_o give_v to_o his_o child_n and_o strive_v to_o have_v it_o purge_v for_o in_o so_o do_v he_o both_o acquire_v a_o good_a conscience_n to_o himself_o and_o give_v his_o child_n a_o better_a heritage_n than_o if_o he_o leave_v he_o all_o the_o heyreship_n of_o the_o world_n when_o thou_o have_v beget_v thy_o child_n and_o gather_v good_n and_o riches_n together_o and_o acquire_v great_a possession_n
