reverence_n and_o will_v neither_o make_v nor_o meddle_v with_o god_n nor_o his_o cause_n no_o although_o ten_o thousand_o idol_n be_v bring_v in_o for_o one_o god_n as_o english_a man_n have_v see_v in_o former_a time_n as_o long_o as_o christ_n have_v a_o king_n in_o this_o realm_n to_o hold_v of_o his_o part_n time_n and_o that_o great_a live_n gain_n friendship_n and_o love_n of_o y_fw-fr e_o world_n rise_v for_o god_n sake_n they_o dissemble_v towards_o his_o word_n and_o so_o long_o as_o fair_a word_n can_v please_v god_n he_o lack_v none_o but_o now_o even_o such_o as_o god_n do_v most_o for_o do_v know_v neither_o god_n nor_o his_o word_n but_o have_v rather_o hear_v ten_o time_n speak_v of_o the_o false_a tradition_n that_o ever_o man_n bring_v into_o the_o church_n than_o once_o of_o christ_n most_o holy_a gospel_n so_o that_o now_o man_n nature_n for_o adversity_n sake_n be_v clean_o turn_v from_o god_n how_o long_o the_o love_n of_o man_n continue_v towards_o man_n daily_a experience_n show_v within_o one_o month_n man_n if_o a_o man_n fall_v into_o trouble_n for_o the_o most_o just_a cause_n he_o that_o be_v his_o friend_n will_v not_o only_o alter_v his_o love_n from_o he_o but_o also_o all_o the_o note_n and_o token_n of_o the_o same_o whereas_o in_o prosperity_n he_o be_v assure_v both_o of_o friendly_a word_n and_o friendly_a work_n in_o adversity_n he_o shall_v find_v neither_o word_n nor_o work_n except_o word_n and_o work_n of_o displeasure_n in_o prosperity_n fair_a look_n and_o amiable_a countenance_n be_v as_o common_a as_o the_o cart_n way_n in_o adversity_n there_o shall_v neither_o look_v nor_o countenance_n be_v show_v except_o it_o be_v frown_v and_o bend_v of_o brow_n yea_o and_o moreover_o adversity_n take_v from_o the_o dissemble_a friend_n all_o knowledge_n that_o ever_o he_o have_v of_o his_o friend_n afflict_v that_o if_o the_o poor_a afflict_a although_o he_o be_v even_o under_o the_o nose_n of_o his_o feign_a friend_n with_o courtesy_n and_o all_o obeisance_n can_v be_v know_v oh_o god_n afflict_a bless_a be_v thy_o name_n that_o withdrawe_v neither_o thy_o knowledge_n love_n nor_o yet_o thy_o help_n his_o prosperity_n sake_n god_n turn_v not_o his_o favour_n from_o man_n for_o trouble_n but_o for_o sin_n the_o world_n for_o trouble_n sake_n will_v not_o know_v the_o most_o dear_a and_o honest_a friend_n but_o let_v the_o most_o wicked_a that_o live_v by_o breath_n have_v prosperity_n and_o wicked_a people_n will_v not_o fail_v to_o know_v he_o with_o beck_n and_o du-gard_n if_o he_o come_v murmure_v against_o god_n because_o he_o help_v not_o when_o man_n wisdom_n judge_v most_o meet_a to_o be_v holpen_v but_o patient_a expectation_n prescribe_v god_n no_o time_n when_o to_o help_v nor_o yet_o mean_n how_o to_o help_v but_o say_v 8_o thy_o will_v be_v do_v in_o earth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o heaven_n
no_o more_o merciful_a to_o help_v he_o out_o of_o trouble_n that_o special_o and_o particular_o suffer_v the_o trouble_n and_o this_o question_n so_o ask_v be_v very_o common_a and_o familiar_a to_o the_o christian_n and_o put_v they_o to_o great_a trouble_n and_o heaviness_n as_o we_o may_v see_v that_o this_o prophet_n asaphe_n consider_v the_o year_n before_o he_o and_o what_o god_n do_v to_o his_o elder_n and_o find_v that_o they_o receive_v remission_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o great_a benefit_n in_o this_o world_n at_o god_n hand_n so_o do_v a_o great_a number_n of_o man_n in_o hear_v and_o read_v the_o scripture_n of_o god_n see_v and_o perceive_v the_o remission_n of_o many_o man_n sin_n and_o how_o merciful_o god_n deal_v with_o they_o yet_o when_o they_o feel_v their_o own_o sin_n and_o suffer_v their_o own_o cross_n and_o trouble_v they_o have_v much_o a_o do_v and_o with_o great_a difficulty_n do_v they_o believe_v that_o god_n will_v be_v as_o good_a unto_o they_o be_v private_a sinner_n and_o private_o afflict_v as_o he_o be_v unto_o the_o great_a number_n of_o those_o of_o who_o they_o read_v in_o the_o scripture_n that_o god_n forgive_v they_o their_o sin_n and_o preserve_v they_o in_o most_o horrible_a and_o dangerous_a trouble_n comfort_n therefore_o this_o be_v a_o common_a wisdom_n and_o daily_a experiment_a sentence_n omnes_fw-la cùm_fw-la valemus_fw-la but_o most_o common_o if_o we_o be_v sick_a ourselves_o trouble_v or_o in_o mistrust_n of_o god_n promise_n we_o can_v ease_v or_o comfort_v ourselves_o very_o little_a and_o good_a cause_n why_o for_o god_n that_o give_v of_o his_o own_o gist_n and_o only_o free_a liberality_n wisdom_n knowledge_n learning_n and_o consolation_n give_v also_o the_o grace_n that_o the_o say_a virtue_n may_v work_v their_o operation_n and_o expel_v the_o infirmity_n and_o disease_n wherefore_o these_o wisdom_n and_o virtue_n be_v ordain_v as_o it_o be_v marvellous_o note_v of_o saint_n paul_n 3._o i_o whether_o his_o mercy_n be_v clean_o go_v for_o ever_o the_o verity_n of_o his_o knowledge_n be_v to_o judge_v and_o say_v that_o it_o be_v his_o mercy_n that_o forgive_v sin_n and_o not_o he_o or_o any_o other_o man_n merit_n that_o can_v deserve_v the_o pardon_v of_o sin_n as_o you_o may_v see_v how_o sinful_a saul_n for_o his_o sin_n 15._o think_v to_o have_v appease_v god_n with_o sacrifice_n trouble_v and_o full_a of_o anguish_n and_o pain_n and_o as_o long_o as_o they_o be_v in_o this_o case_n without_o god_n mercy_n they_o can_v do_v nothing_o that_o plese_v god_n or_o content_v themselves_o but_o as_o soon_o as_o the_o spirit_n be_v assure_v and_o feel_v that_o god_n for_o his_o mercy_n do_v forgive_v and_o forget_v the_o iniquity_n that_o the_o spirit_n and_o body_n have_v commit_v and_o do_v against_o god_n it_o rejoice_v and_o be_v so_o glad_a that_o it_o will_v do_v nothing_o but_o that_o which_o plese_v and_o be_v acceptable_a unto_o god_n and_o in_o christ_n may_v find_v it_o in_o the_o other_o and_o where_o he_o say_v he_o will_v remember_v all_o y_z e_z work_n of_o the_o lord_n mean_v as_o many_o as_o the_o scripture_n make_v mention_n of_o we_o be_v instruct_v that_o we_o can_v see_v these_o work_n for_o our_o erudition_n neither_o yet_o give_v y_o e_o almighty_a god_n thanks_o except_o we_o learn_v they_o from_o one_o of_o his_o book_n to_o insensible_a creature_n as_o though_o they_o be_v sensible_a and_o work_v miracle_n in_o they_o for_o the_o instruction_n and_o amendment_n of_o sensible_a and_o reasonable_a man_n the_o learning_n touch_v god_n be_v god_n that_o he_o work_v his_o will_n and_o use_v his_o creature_n as_o it_o seem_v unto_o his_o wisdom_n inscrutable_a must_v meet_v and_o convenient_a as_o here_o he_o trouble_v and_o alter_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o sea_n and_o water_n 1._o these_o water_n be_v appoint_v by_o god_n in_o the_o three_o day_n of_o the_o creation_n to_o be_v in_o one_o place_n and_o be_v earth_n with_o necessary_a moisture_n by_o privy_a vein_n and_o secret_a passage_n secret_o pass_v through_o the_o earth_n and_o when_o the_o flood_n that_o do_v moisture_n the_o earth_n have_v do_v their_o office_n they_o return_v into_o their_o old_a lodging_n the_o sea_n again_o from_o whence_o rise_v the_o matter_n of_o shower_n and_o rain_n to_o moisture_n from_o above_o that_o flood_n beneath_o can_v be_v convey_v unto_o and_o it_o serve_v for_o transport_v the_o necessary_n of_o one_o realm_n to_o the_o other_o quiet_o suffer_v the_o ship_n of_o pass_n with_o great_a gain_n &_o pleasure_n these_o and_o many_o more_o commodity_n god_n work_v by_o this_o insensible_a creature_n when_o it_o be_v calm_a and_o navigable_a but_o when_o he_o move_v it_o with_o his_o wind_n and_o tempest_n it_o be_v so_o horrible_a in_o itself_o that_o no_o man_n may_v without_o peril_n and_o death_n travel_n within_o it_o so_o rage_v and_o fearful_a be_v that_o pleasant_a element_n of_o tho_o water_n when_o god_n move_v it_o it_o have_v by_o god_n appointment_n his_o time_n of_o calm_a and_o time_n of_o storm_n time_n to_o profit_n man_n time_n and_o time_n to_o undo_v man_n time_n to_o be_v a_o refuge_n for_o man_n in_o the_o day_n of_o peril_n and_o time_n to_o be_v a_o grave_n and_o sepulchre_n for_o man_n time_n to_o conjoin_v strange_a nation_n together_o and_o time_n to_o separate_v they_o again_o as_o it_o please_v the_o creator_n almighty_a god_n to_o appoint_v and_o direct_v it_o the_o doctrine_n that_o touch_v the_o insensible_a creature_n itself_o creature_n be_v that_o it_o can_v be_v no_o long_o calm_v nor_o any_o long_o trouble_v than_o it_o please_v the_o heavenly_a governor_n to_o dispose_v it_o and_o here_o be_v to_o be_v note_v against_o such_o man_n as_o attribute_v storm_n and_o calm_v to_o fortune_n 29._o whereas_o only_o the_o voice_n of_o the_o lord_n move_v tempest_n and_o send_v fair_a weather_n it_o be_v also_o a_o doctrine_n against_o thereof_o be_v so_o extreme_a yet_o in_o deed_n the_o bottom_n of_o the_o sea_n be_v not_o feel_v neither_o do_v the_o ship_n that_o be_v save_v descend_v so_o far_o but_o the_o tempest_n be_v so_o sore_o that_o it_o seem_v to_o the_o sufferer_n thereof_o that_o no_o extremity_n can_v be_v more_o in_o this_o sense_n it_o serve_v marvellous_o the_o prophets_n purpose_n similitude_n for_o as_o operation_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n dry_v up_o and_o clean_o lade_v out_o the_o pond_n and_o deep_a sea_n of_o mistrust_n &_o hevine_v out_o of_o the_o soul_n and_o turn_v the_o soul_n itself_o to_o the_o use_n of_o his_o own_o honour_n in_o the_o joy_n everlasting_a and_o as_o the_o water_n cover_v the_o beauty_n of_o the_o land_n so_o do_v sin_n &_o temptation_n cover_v the_o image_n and_o beauty_n of_o man_n soul_n in_o this_o life_n but_o as_o with_o a_o word_n god_n can_v remedy_v the_o one_o so_o with_o the_o least_o of_o his_o mercy_n he_o can_v redress_v the_o other_o and_o for_o the_o better_a experience_n and_o more_o certainty_n thereof_o we_o see_v it_o prove_v by_o this_o prophet_n asaph_n in_o this_o place_n for_o the_o ground_n be_v never_o more_o overwhelm_v with_o water_n nor_o the_o bright_a sun_n with_o dimmie_a cloud_n then_o be_v this_o poor_a prophets_n spirit_n with_o heaviness_n and_o sorrow_n of_o sin_n and_o temptation_n therefore_o he_o feel_v how_o god_n ease_v the_o heart_n and_o record_v how_o he_o banish_a flood_n and_o water_n to_o make_v his_o people_n a_o way_n to_o rest_n and_o tranquillity_n 17_o the_o cloud_n pour_v out_o water_n the_o
