to_o abstain_v from_o evil_a but_o he_o must_v also_o do_v well_o not_o only_o not_o to_o do_v evil_a but_o to_o do_v good_a it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o prove_v a_o man_n to_o be_v a_o godly_a man_n and_o a_o sound_n christian_n that_o he_o careful_o shun_v and_o avoid_v the_o lewd_a counsel_n and_o company_n of_o wicked_a man_n but_o he_o must_v also_o be_v as_o careful_a to_o meditate_v in_o the_o law_n of_o god_n day_n and_o night_n and_o therefore_o as_o in_o this_o place_n so_o usual_o in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n they_o be_v both_o join_v together_o cease_v from_o evil_n learn_v to_o do_v well_o 3.10_o esay_n 1.16_o psalm_n 34_o matt._n 3.10_o eschew_v evil_a and_o do_v good_a and_o thou_o shall_v live_v for_o ever_o the_o axe_n be_v put_v to_o the_o root_n of_o the_o tree_n every_o tree_n that_o bring_v not_o forth_o good_a fruit_n mark_v christ_n say_v not_o only_o every_o tree_n that_o be_v barren_a and_o bring_v forth_o no_o fruit_n good_a or_o bad_a nor_o every_o one_o that_o bring_v forth_o evil_a fruit_n but_o that_o bring_v not_o forth_o good_a fruit_n be_v hew_v down_o and_o cast_v into_o the_o fire_n 25.41_o mat._n 25.41_o and_o at_o the_o last_o day_n the_o lord_n will_v say_v to_o the_o wicked_a depart_v you_o curse_v not_o for_o rob_v the_o poor_a of_o meat_n drink_n or_o apparel_n or_o cast_v they_o out_o of_o door_n but_o for_o want_v of_o show_v mercy_n unto_o they_o a_o christian_a life_n do_v consist_v of_o two_o part_n so_o set_v down_o by_o the_o apostle_n paul_n abhor_v that_o be_v evil_a there_o be_v one_o half_a and_o cleave_v to_o that_o be_v good_a rom._n 12.9_o there_o be_v the_o other_o half_a if_o any_o want_v the_o former_a or_o the_o latter_a he_o be_v but_o half_a a_o christian_n and_o so_o shall_v at_o last_o come_v short_a of_o a_o reward_n and_o therefore_o this_o be_v a_o privilege_n to_o all_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n that_o where_o any_o vice_n be_v forbid_v the_o contrary_a virtue_n be_v lord_n and_o in_o his_o law_n he_o do_v meditate_v both_o day_n and_o night_n use_v 1_o this_o serve_v to_o reproove_v most_o man_n in_o the_o world_n as_o no_o godly_a man_n indeed_o nor_o sound_a christian_n for_o most_o man_n do_v think_v if_o they_o can_v say_v i_o thank_v god_n i_o do_v no_o body_n any_o harm_n nor_o say_v they_o harm_n i_o be_o neither_o whore_n nor_o thief_n i_o be_o neither_o blasphemer_n drunkard_n etc._n etc._n all_o be_v then_o well_o they_o be_v as_o good_a christian_n as_o the_o best_a and_o shall_v as_o well_o be_v save_v as_o the_o best_a preacher_n of_o they_o all_o yea_o but_o you_o see_v here_o a_o godly_a man_n must_v not_o only_o abstain_v from_o evil_a but_o meditate_v in_o the_o law_n of_o god_n not_o only_o cease_v from_o evil_a but_o do_v good_a look_v on_o the_o place_n of_o scripture_n before_o name_v 5.23_o matt._n 3.10_o mat._n 25.41_o judg._n 5.23_o deborah_n pronounce_v a_o heavy_a curse_n against_o nerosh_n not_o for_o hurt_v or_o hinder_v the_o people_n of_o god_n but_o because_o they_o do_v not_o help_v they_o against_o the_o enemy_n of_o god_n and_o so_o the_o axe_n and_o curse_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v upon_o all_o those_o that_o be_v not_o as_o careful_a to_o do_v good_a as_o to_o eschew_v evil_a s._n paul_n profess_v that_o he_o be_v a_o man_n of_o a_o upright_a life_n and_o one_o that_o be_v unrebukeable_a to_o the_o world_n and_o yet_o profess_v that_o all_o this_o be_v but_o as_o dung_n without_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n philippian_n 3.4_o it_o be_v good_a if_o our_o civil_a honest_a man_n as_o we_o call_v they_o will_v consider_v this_o they_o stand_v upon_o this_o they_o defy_v all_o the_o world_n who_o can_v say_v black_a be_v their_o eye_n they_o say_v no_o body_n harm_n nor_o do_v none_o well_o grant_v that_o they_o say_v which_o be_v impossible_a though_o they_o can_v abstain_v from_o all_o outward_a evil_n as_o swear_v lie_a drunkenness_n whore_v pride_n envy_n etc._n etc._n proceed_v against_o man_n not_o only_o for_o do_v evil_a but_o especial_o for_o nor_o do_v good_a use_v 2_o second_o if_o such_o as_o abstain_v from_o gross_a evil_n be_v in_o danger_n of_o damnation_n for_o want_n of_o do_v good_a that_o be_v to_o say_v because_o they_o have_v not_o lead_v a_o godly_a life_n bestow_v much_o time_n in_o hear_v and_o read_v the_o scripture_n pray_v and_o we_o must_v not_o sleep_v in_o sin_n neither_o give_v yourselves_o to_o security_n but_o be_v careful_a and_o circumspect_a that_o we_o be_v not_o sudden_o overtake_v this_o be_v that_o charge_n which_o our_o saviour_n give_v 24._o math._n 24._o watch_v therefore_o for_o you_o know_v neither_o the_o day_n nor_o hour_n in_o the_o which_o the_o son_n of_o man_n will_v come_v the_o judgement_n righteous_a come_v the_o description_n of_o a_o wicked_a man_n in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v here_o the_o prophet_n describe_v the_o wicked_a &_o ungodly_a man_n by_o his_o fearful_a end_n and_o that_o which_o shall_v befall_v he_o hereafter_o and_o that_o he_o draw_v into_o two_o phrase_n of_o speech_n first_o they_o shall_v not_o stand_v in_o judgement_n second_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v assotiate_v with_o the_o just_a so_o that_o we_o see_v that_o howsoever_o now_o the_o wicked_a bear_v it_o out_o and_o seem_v to_o be_v the_o only_a man_n in_o the_o world_n yet_o in_o that_o great_a day_n of_o the_o lord_n when_o we_o must_v all_o appear_v before_o his_o bar_n that_o will_v judge_v just_o without_o respect_n of_o person_n then_o these_o wretched_a man_n shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o stand_v that_o be_v to_o endure_v the_o sentence_n of_o the_o judge_n and_o his_o angry_a countenance_n but_o shall_v receive_v the_o fearful_a doom_n of_o eternal_a death_n depart_v from_o i_o you_o curse_v well_o then_o by_o this_o we_o learn_v that_o 4.1_o doctr._fw-la 1._o the_o certainty_n of_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n prove_v malac._n 4.1_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o judgement_n wherein_o man_n must_v stand_v to_o appear_v before_o god_n to_o give_v account_n of_o their_o work_n and_o this_o we_o acknowledge_v in_o that_o article_n of_o our_o faith_n when_o we_o say_v we_o believe_v that_o he_o shall_v come_v to_o judge_v both_o the_o quick_a and_o the_o dead_a behold_v say_v the_o lord_n the_o day_n come_v that_o shall_v burn_v as_o a_o oven_n and_o all_o the_o proud_a and_o all_o the_o wicked_a shall_v be_v stubble_n 3.3_o mat._n 25_o 41_o act_n 17.31_o 2._o cor._n 5.10_o 2._o thes_n 1.7_o 8.9_o reu._n 20.12_o 1._o pet._n 3.3_o and_o the_o day_n that_o come_v shall_v burn_v they_o up_o and_o our_o saviour_n alude_v to_o that_o day_n say_v then_o will_v i_o say_v to_o they_o on_o my_o left_a hand_n etc._n etc._n again_o he_o have_v appoint_v a_o day_n in_o the_o which_o he_o will_v judge_v the_o world_n in_o righteousness_n now_o if_o there_o be_v no_o place_n in_o the_o scripture_n but_o this_o text_n it_o may_v suffice_v to_o prove_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o day_n of_o judgement_n but_o beside_o these_o testimony_n there_o be_v certain_a reason_n that_o prove_v the_o same_o take_v from_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n and_o his_o principal_a attribute_n his_o mercy_n and_o justice_n which_o we_o must_v needs_o confess_v he_o be_v most_o true_a in_o both_o he_o be_v most_o merciful_a and_o most_o just_a and_o therefore_o have_v promise_v it_o shall_v go_v well_o with_o his_o child_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v happy_a and_o bless_a and_o that_o the_o wicked_a shall_v be_v miserable_a and_o curse_a in_o these_o two_o respect_n it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o there_o must_v be_v a_o day_n of_o judgement_n for_o in_o this_o world_n who_o endure_v more_o misery_n grief_n and_o wrong_n than_o god_n child_n who_o be_v contemn_v mock_v misuse_v 16._o luke_n 16._o and_o by_o all_o mean_v abuse_v by_o wicked_a man_n they_o be_v in_o want_n sickness_n persecution_n in_o poverty_n and_o a_o thousand_o misery_n beside_o but_o the_o wicked_a flourish_n live_v in_o wealth_n and_o ease_n and_o all_o thing_n that_o heart_n can_v wish_v now_o then_o see_v this_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o god_n child_n in_o this_o world_n full_a of_o trouble_n and_o misery_n and_o the_o wicked_a live_v at_o ease_n according_a to_o their_o lust_n it_o must_v needs_o follow_v that_o there_o must_v be_v a_o day_n of_o judgement_n when_o god_n shall_v show_v his_o mercy_n in_o blessing_n and_o crown_v the_o virtue_n of_o his_o child_n and_o likewise_o in_o execute_v justice_n upon_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a o_o that_o man_n and_o woman_n can_v often_o think_v of_o the_o time_n of_o the_o last_o judgement_n use_v oh_o that_o we_o can_v bestow_v that_o time_n which_o we_o bestow_v upon_o our_o pleasure_n and_o foolish_a sport_n to_o meditate_v on_o this_o day_n o_o that_o man_n will_v bestow_v that_o time_n which_o they_o bestow_v on_o unprofitable_a if_o not_o sinful_a exercise_n as_o card_v dice_a deck_v and_o paint_v these_o carcase_n of_o they_o oh_o i_o say_v happy_a be_v we_o if_o we_o can_v bestow_v this_o time_n in_o think_v of_o this_o judgement_n what_o shall_v then_o become_v of_o we_o for_o evermore_o there_o be_v no_o man_n so_o wreathe_a and_o desperate_a but_o he_o can_v wish_v with_o balaam_n oh_o that_o i_o may_v die_v the_o death_n of_o the_o righteous_a and_o that_o my_o last_o end_n may_v be_v like_o one_o of_o they_o labour_v now_o then_o in_o time_n to_o become_v a_o new_a creature_n walk_v with_o god_n in_o obedience_n labour_n for_o sanctification_n and_o this_o will_v cause_v thou_o to_o stand_v out_o in_o this_o judgement_n now_o that_o the_o wicked_a shall_v not_o stand_v in_o this_o judgement_n some_o may_v here_o object_v and_o say_v this_o be_v that_o which_o we_o desire_v that_o we_o may_v not_o appear_v before_o the_o face_n of_o that_o angry_a judge_n who_o presence_n be_v so_o intolerable_a but_o alas_o this_o be_v not_o all_o for_o then_o the_o wicked_a may_v seem_v to_o be_v bless_v if_o they_o may_v here_o delight_v in_o sin_n and_o drink_v down_o iniquity_n like_o water_n and_o never_o be_v call_v to_o account_v for_o the_o same_o therefore_o the_o wicked_a shall_v appear_v in_o judgement_n judgement_n in_o four_o respect_n the_o wicked_a must_v appear_v in_o judgement_n and_o yet_o not_o any_o whit_n contrary_a to_o this_o text_n which_o say_v the_o wicked_a shall_v not_o stand_v in_o judgement_n and_o that_o in_o these_o four_o respect_n first_o in_o regard_n of_o their_o appearance_n there_o 35.21_o jere._n 35.21_o the_o lord_n will_v enter_v into_o judgement_n with_o all_o flesh_n if_o with_o all_o flesh_n then_o chief_o with_o such_o kind_n of_o flesh_n as_o be_v species_n of_o that_o genus_fw-la so_o flesh_n as_o that_o three_o they_o must_v arise_v and_o appear_v in_o this_o judgement_n to_o be_v indict_v for_o god_n will_v bring_v every_o work_n of_o they_o into_o judgement_n 12.14_o eccl._n 12.14_o whether_o they_o be_v good_a or_o evil_n four_o and_o last_o they_o must_v arise_v and_o stand_v in_o this_o judgement_n to_o hear_v the_o sentence_n of_o the_o judge_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n pass_v against_o they_o 25.41_o mat._n 25.41_o depart_v from_o i_o you_o curse_v into_o everlasting_a fire_n prepare_v for_o the_o devil_n and_o his_o angel_n a_o thunder_a sentence_n indeed_o able_a if_o it_o be_v possible_a to_o wound_v to_o death_n the_o hatrs_n
