parent_n that_o will_v never_o have_v pray_v for_o you_o or_o if_o they_o have_v have_v no_o interest_n with_o god_n but_o you_o have_v such_o as_o pray_v often_o for_o you_o it_o may_v be_v when_o you_o can_v or_o do_v not_o pray_v for_o yourselves_o and_o be_v not_o this_o a_o great_a mercy_n while_o wicked_a person_n dedicate_v their_o child_n to_o the_o service_n of_o satan_n godly_a parent_n when_o god_n give_v they_o child_n dedicate_v they_o to_o the_o lord_n and_o by_o faith_n give_v they_o to_o be_v his_o child_n for_o ever_o as_o hanna_n do_v samuel_n 1._o sam._n 1.26_o 27_o have_v in_o they_o every_o thing_n that_o concern_v our_o salvation_n that_o they_o be_v the_o word_n of_o eternal_a life_n and_o that_o they_o be_v able_a to_o make_v you_o wise_a to_o salvation_n 2_o tim._n 3.15_o wicked_a parent_n leave_v their_o child_n in_o ignorance_n or_o instruct_v they_o in_o superstition_n and_o vanity_n but_o the_o godly_a instruct_v their_o child_n in_o the_o scripture_n be_v it_o not_o then_o a_o great_a mercy_n to_o be_v the_o child_n of_o such_o parent_n chap._n iii_o they_o be_v instruct_v what_o sin_n be_v make_v acquaint_v with_o christ_n with_o gospel_n duty_n with_o heaven_n and_o hell_n godly_a parent_n in_o instruct_v their_o child_n in_o the_o scripture_n do_v take_v special_a care_n to_o teach_v they_o the_o fundamental_o of_o be_v a_o mercy_n second_o they_o do_v not_o rest_v there_o but_o they_o tell_v they_o also_o what_o a_o evil_a sin_n be_v they_o open_v to_o they_o the_o nature_n of_o sin_n that_o it_o be_v a_o transgression_n of_o god_n holy_a law_n that_o it_o be_v that_o which_o be_v contrary_a to_o god_n they_o show_v they_o also_o the_o danger_n of_o sin_v and_o the_o fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o it_o and_o these_o thing_n take_v the_o heart_n of_o their_o child_n whereas_o many_o parent_n never_o speak_v of_o these_o thing_n to_o their_o child_n therefore_o it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n to_o have_v good_a parent_n iii_o the_o child_n of_o godly_a parent_n be_v make_v acquaint_v with_o gospel_n duty_n and_o ordinance_n their_o parent_n teach_v they_o which_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o the_o gospel_n believe_v and_o obey_v and_o show_v they_o the_o necessity_n of_o perform_v they_o for_o he_o that_o believe_v not_o be_v condemn_v already_o the_o fruitfulness_n and_o pleasure_n
of_o they_o and_o the_o great_a benefit_n of_o they_o which_o be_v peace_n of_o conscience_n joy_n in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o everlasting_a salvation_n they_o acquaint_v they_o with_o the_o ordinance_n and_o bring_v they_o to_o they_o and_o show_v they_o how_o they_o must_v be_v perform_v that_o it_o must_v be_v in_o spirit_n and_o in_o truth_n that_o the_o heart_n must_v be_v engage_v in_o every_o duty_n many_o think_v that_o when_o they_o have_v repeat_v a_o few_o word_n they_o have_v pray_v or_o when_o they_o have_v sit_v in_o church_n or_o house_n they_o have_v hear_v or_o when_o they_o have_v receive_v the_o bread_n and_o wine_n they_o have_v receive_v the_o lord_n supper_n but_o a_o godly_a man_n teach_v he_o that_o they_o must_v pray_v with_o understanding_n and_o that_o the_o heart_n must_v be_v engage_v in_o prayer_n and_o that_o the_o word_n and_o sacrament_n must_v be_v mix_v with_o faith_n therefore_o it_o be_v a_o mercy_n to_o have_v good_a parent_n four_o they_o acquaint_v they_o with_o heaven_n and_o hell_n they_o lay_v the_o glory_n of_o heaven_n before_o they_o and_o tell_v they_o that_o all_o tear_n be_v wipe_v from_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n and_o that_o they_o enjoy_v god_n and_o be_v continual_o in_o his_o presence_n blessing_n and_o praise_v his_o name_n they_o tell_v they_o also_o that_o none_o go_v thither_o but_o those_o that_o be_v holy_a and_o that_o the_o way_n be_v narrow_a and_o few_o enter_v thither_o therefore_o they_o must_v strive_v they_o acquaint_v they_o also_o with_o hell_n and_o the_o torment_n of_o it_o that_o there_o be_v continual_o weep_v and_o gnash_n of_o tooth_n that_o there_o be_v a_o everlasting_a fire_n they_o tell_v they_o also_o that_o the_o way_n be_v broad_a and_o their_o child_n ignorant_a of_o they_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o mercy_n to_o have_v godly_a parent_n chap._n iu._n other_o reason_n they_o be_v encourage_v in_o good_a and_o discourage_v from_o evil_a and_o pray_v for_o by_o the_o godly_a the_o four_o reason_n it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n to_o be_v the_o child_n of_o godly_a parent_n for_o they_o be_v exhort_v to_o and_o encourage_v in_o every_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a good_a parent_n do_v not_o only_o acquaint_v their_o child_n with_o the_o command_n of_o god_n but_o do_v daily_o exhort_v they_o to_o obey_v they_o they_o tell_v they_o what_o be_v their_o duty_n and_o diligent_o persuade_v they_o to_o perform_v they_o and_o they_o also_o encourage_v they_o in_o the_o performance_n of_o they_o they_o be_v not_o satisfy_v to_o acquaint_v they_o with_o god_n mind_n but_o study_v all_o sort_n of_o argument_n to_o persuade_v they_o to_o obedience_n wicked_a parent_n do_v not_o exhort_v their_o child_n to_o holiness_n but_o at_o best_o to_o some_o outward_a form_n of_o religion_n and_o if_o they_o find_v the_o power_n of_o godliness_n in_o their_o soul_n they_o be_v apt_a to_o hate_v they_o and_o instead_o of_o encourage_v they_o they_o discourage_v they_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o mercy_n to_o be_v the_o child_n of_o godly_a parent_n the_o five_o reason_n it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n to_o be_v the_o child_n of_o godly_a parent_n because_o such_o be_v warn_v against_o all_o evil_a watch_v over_o least_o they_o shall_v run_v to_o evil_n and_o always_o discourage_v in_o whatsoever_o be_v evil_a and_o if_o nothing_o will_v do_v than_o they_o correct_v they_o know_v how_o god_n use_v to_o bless_v the_o correction_n of_o his_o child_n prov._n 22.17_o correct_v thy_o son_n and_o he_o shall_v give_v thou_o rest_v yea_o he_o shall_v give_v delight_n to_o thy_o soul_n that_o be_v god_n will_v bless_v thy_o due_a correction_n that_o thou_o shall_v find_v a_o satisfactory_a fruit_n arise_v they_o in_o what_o you_o can_v and_o by_o be_v thankful_a to_o god_n for_o they_o the_o six_o direction_n improve_v this_o mercy_n by_o take_v care_n and_o by_o use_v all_o diligence_n to_o get_v the_o same_o faith_n that_o your_o parent_n have_v and_o so_o i_o be_o come_v to_o the_o second_o observation_n chap._n xi_o the_o second_o observation_n reason_n why_o the_o child_n of_o believer_n shall_v take_v care_n to_o look_v after_o the_o same_o faith_n i_o be_o come_v now_o to_o the_o second_o observation_n from_o the_o text_n obser_n 2._o it_o shall_v be_v the_o care_n of_o the_o child_n of_o godly_a parent_n to_o get_v the_o same_o unfeigned_a faith_n with_o their_o parent_n this_o be_v timothy_n happiness_n that_o he_o have_v the_o same_o unfeigned_a faith_n with_o his_o parent_n you_o will_v not_o come_v behind_o your_o parent_n in_o estate_n honour_n and_o the_o like_a be_v sure_a then_o to_o be_v good_a and_o holy_a as_o well_o as_o they_o and_o as_o you_o will_v have_v their_o estate_n so_o get_v their_o holiness_n and_o that_o for_o those_o reason_n the_o first_o reason_n child_n shall_v take_v care_n to_o get_v unfeigned_a faith_n because_o the_o faith_n of_o their_o parent_n can_v save_v they_o although_o the_o faith_n of_o their_o parent_n may_v bring_v down_o many_o outward_a mercy_n upon_o they_o and_o withhold_v outward_a judgement_n from_o they_o yet_o it_o can_v hinder_v eternal_a judgement_n from_o seize_v upon_o they_o if_o they_o walk_v in_o sin_n and_o iniquity_n esau_n a_o wicked_a son_n of_o a_o godly_a parent_n must_v go_v to_o hell_n notwithstanding_o the_o godliness_n of_o his_o parent_n and_o so_o must_v all_o the_o wicked_a child_n of_o godly_a parent_n if_o they_o die_v in_o their_o sin_n every_o one_o be_v save_v by_o his_o own_o faith_n and_o as_o a_o wicked_a man_n child_n shall_v be_v save_v if_o he_o believe_v for_o see_v act_n 13.39_o for_o by_o he_o all_o that_o believe_v be_v justify_v whither_o they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o wicked_a or_o good_a parent_n so_o no_o good_a man_n child_n shall_v be_v save_v without_o faith_n see_v joh._n 3.18_o he_o that_o believe_v on_o he_o be_v not_o condemn_v but_o to_o get_v faith_n because_o faith_n be_v not_o entail_v on_o the_o child_n of_o believer_n they_o do_v not_o convey_v grace_n as_o they_o do_v corruption_n on_o his_o child_n for_o faith_n be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o although_o godly_a parent_n be_v often_o instrument_n of_o work_a faith_n in_o their_o child_n yet_o it_o be_v give_v by_o the_o special_a hand_n of_o god_n neither_o be_v god_n bind_v to_o give_v grace_n to_o child_n for_o the_o godliness_n of_o their_o parent_n although_o he_o often_o sanctify_v such_o and_o hear_v the_o prayer_n of_o parent_n for_o their_o child_n yet_o he_o be_v a_o free_a agent_n and_o bestow_v grace_n on_o who_o he_o please_v and_o therefore_o we_o see_v that_o godly_a parent_n sometime_o have_v wicked_a child_n and_o wicked_a parent_n have_v godly_a child_n ephes_n 1.5_o have_v predestinate_v we_o to_o the_o adoption_n of_o child_n by_o jesus_n christ_n according_a to_o the_o good_a pleasure_n of_o his_o will_n the_o will_n and_o pleasure_n of_o god_n be_v the_o rule_n of_o his_o bestow_n grace_n therefore_o let_v the_o child_n of_o believer_n be_v careful_a to_o get_v faith_n the_o three_o reason_n the_o child_n of_o good_a parent_n shall_v be_v careful_a to_o get_v faith_n because_o this_o great_a mercy_n we_o enjoy_v of_o have_v parent_n that_o be_v godly_a that_o pâ—ay_v for_o we_o instruct_v we_o correct_v we_o bring_v we_o to_o the_o ordinance_n and_o give_v we_o holy_a example_n if_o we_o do_v not_o receive_v instruction_n increase_v our_o condemnation_n at_o last_o therefore_o be_v careful_a the_o four_o reason_n such_o child_n shall_v be_v careful_a to_o get_v faith_n for_o if_o they_o miss_v of_o it_o they_o will_v be_v without_o excuse_n they_o can_v say_v but_o they_o have_v be_v offer_v heaven_n and_o call_v upon_o to_o walk_v with_o god_n for_o ever_o they_o can_v say_v but_o they_o have_v be_v instruct_v reprove_v exhort_v to_o good_a encourage_v in_o it_o and_o tell_v of_o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n and_o dehort_v from_o sin_n therefore_o see_v you_o get_v grace_n or_o else_o you_o will_v be_v without_o excuse_n and_o miserable_a chap._n xii_o other_o reason_n a_o use_n of_o reproof_n the_o several_a way_n that_o godly_a man_n child_n forfeit_v their_o mercy_n the_o five_o reason_n godly_a man_n child_n shall_v be_v very_o careful_a to_o get_v faith_n because_o satan_n be_v most_o busy_a with_o such_o he_o see_v your_o parent_n use_v diligence_n to_o save_v you_o and_o see_v you_o be_v near_a heaven_n therefore_o he_o will_v bestir_v himself_o and_o use_v all_o mean_n to_o take_v care_n and_o not_o trust_v in_o the_o goodness_n of_o their_o parent_n nor_o outward_a profession_n but_o get_v a_o unfeigned_a faith_n yourselves_o use_v if_o the_o child_n of_o godly_a parent_n shall_v be_v so_o careful_a to_o get_v unfeigned_a faith_n this_o sad_o reprove_v such_o as_o neglect_v it_o and_o continue_v in_o sin_n though_o they_o have_v parent_n that_o hate_v sin_n how_o many_o such_o be_v there_o if_o there_o be_v any_o weakness_n in_o their_o parent_n they_o will_v imitate_v they_o in_o that_o but_o never_o look_v after_o their_o good_a they_o slight_v the_o mercy_n of_o have_v good_a parent_n as_o if_o it_o be_v of_o no_o value_n have_v god_n give_v you_o these_o mercy_n and_o will_v you_o abuse_v they_o be_v you_o so_o fair_a for_o heaven_n and_o will_v not_o you_o strive_v to_o enter_v god_n offer_v heaven_n and_o will_v you_o refuse_v it_o there_o be_v three_o way_n that_o i_o find_v in_o scripture_n and_o experience_n that_o the_o child_n of_o godly_a parent_n depart_v from_o god_n and_o abuse_v this_o mercy_n which_o i_o shall_v lay_v down_o that_o you_o may_v avoid_v they_o 1._o way_n where_o the_o child_n of_o godly_a parent_n do_v not_o prove_v godly_a they_o often_o prove_v to_o be_v mocker_n and_o persecutor_n of_o godliness_n see_v gen._n 21.9_o 10._o ishmael_n the_o son_n of_o godly_a abraham_n mock_v isaac_n that_o be_v persecute_v he_o we_o have_v many_o sad_a experience_n of_o this_o and_o be_v it_o not_o a_o sad_a thing_n to_o see_v person_n educate_v righteous_o persecute_v religion_n certain_o their_o we_o may_v say_v of_o many_o as_o of_o they_o rom._n 10.3_o for_o they_o be_v ignorant_a of_o god_n righteousness_n and_o go_v about_o to_o establish_v their_o own_o righteousness_n have_v not_o submit_v themselves_o to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n it_o be_v ignorance_n that_o make_v any_o trust_n in_o their_o own_o righteousness_n this_o we_o be_v all_o apt_a to_o aspecial_o such_o as_o have_v the_o form_n of_o godliness_n therefore_o beware_v of_o this_o and_o if_o thou_o be_v in_o any_o of_o these_o way_n consider_v these_o follow_a partcular_o chap._n xiii_o fourteen_o consideration_n to_o the_o child_n of_o godly_a parent_n that_o be_v ungodly_a consid_fw-la 1._o let_v all_o the_o ungodly_a child_n of_o godly_a parent_n consider_v that_o god_n never_o reject_v
