prophet_n oftentimes_o as_o in_o isaiah_n jeremiah_n micah_n and_o sundry_a other_o and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o we_o will_v not_o be_v humble_v but_o many_o of_o we_o in_o the_o height_n of_o our_o imagination_n suppose_v that_o we_o of_o ourselves_o be_v apt_a and_o able_a to_o great_a matter_n whereas_o the_o scripture_n show_v the_o clean_a contrary_a affirm_v 3.5_o 2._o cor._n 3.5_o that_o both_o the_o will_n and_o the_o deed_n 2.13_o phil_n 2.13_o and_o that_o of_o his_o good_a pleasure_n onclie_o assure_v we_o in_o a_o other_o place_n that_o the_o natural_a man_n perceive_v not_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n 2.14_o 1._o cor._n 2.14_o and_o in_o this_o very_a chapter_n tell_v we_o in_o plain_a term_n 8.7_o rom._n 8.7_o that_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o flesh_n be_v enmity_n against_o god_n for_o it_o be_v not_o subject_a to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n neither_o indeed_o can_v be_v all_o which_o may_v teach_v we_o to_o hate_v and_o condemn_v and_o that_o from_o the_o bottom_n of_o our_o heart_n the_o dotage_n of_o pelagian_n and_o semipelagian_n as_o papist_n and_o such_o other_o who_o either_o in_o whole_a or_o in_o part_n stand_v so_o stifelie_o for_o may_v be_v cure_v of_o he_o that_o only_o can_v heal_v we_o and_o be_v strengthen_v and_o supply_v from_o he_o that_o be_v the_o god_n of_o all_o might_n and_o power_n and_o have_v all_o power_n in_o neither_o second_o in_o as_o much_o as_o the_o creature_n be_v become_v subject_a to_o the_o vain_a use_n of_o man_n and_o to_o a_o flit_a &_o vanish_v estate_n as_o in_o respect_n of_o themselves_o and_o all_o this_o be_v bring_v to_o pass_v by_o the_o mean_n of_o sin_n we_o may_v learn_v not_o only_o what_o stink_n and_o corruption_n hang_v upon_o iniquity_n as_o which_o taint_v both_o the_o party_n commit_v the_o same_o and_o infect_v as_o it_o be_v all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o whole_a order_n of_o nature_n but_o also_o that_o for_o as_o much_o as_o transgression_n bring_v forth_o these_o pestilent_a fruit_n &_o effect_n and_o namely_o that_o beside_o other_o manifold_a inconvenience_n as_o god_n dishonour_v slander_n of_o his_o truth_n offence_n of_o his_o child_n grief_n of_o our_o own_o soul_n etc._n etc._n it_o make_v the_o very_a creature_n unclean_a and_o unprofitable_a unto_o we_o that_o therefore_o we_o shall_v learn_v to_o fly_v from_o sin_n as_o from_o the_o face_n of_o a_o serpent_n &_o never_o to_o use_v god_n creature_n but_o in_o all_o humble_a and_o unfeigned_a confession_n of_o our_o sin_n on_o the_o one_o side_n and_o in_o reverend_a read_n hear_v and_o meditation_n of_o his_o word_n 4._o 1._o tim_n 4._o and_o in_o hearty_a prayer_n unto_o his_o majesty_n for_o the_o sanctifieng_v of_o they_o unto_o we_o on_o the_o other_o side_n that_o so_o the_o pollution_n of_o sin_n be_v take_v away_o &_o holiness_n from_o god_n be_v communicate_v unto_o we_o his_o creature_n may_v be_v profitable_a to_o nourish_v our_o outward_a man_n not_o only_o in_o and_o let_v we_o have_v even_o in_o this_o life_n not_o only_o a_o sober_a and_o reverend_a but_o even_o a_o most_o large_a &_o liberal_a use_n of_o they_o that_o so_o we_o be_v by_o they_o for_o a_o while_n foster_v &_o feed_v here_o we_o may_v in_o the_o end_n come_v to_o the_o full_a fruition_n of_o that_o glory_n which_o he_o have_v lay_v up_o for_o we_o in_o the_o heaven_n which_o rich_a and_o abundant_a kindness_n of_o he_o bestow_v even_o then_o upon_o we_o when_o we_o be_v his_o deadly_a ennimy_n shall_v provoke_v we_o not_o only_o to_o humble_a thankfulness_n towards_o his_o majesty_n both_o in_o word_n and_o deed_n for_o his_o infinite_a mercy_n but_o shall_v instruct_v we_o to_o strive_v with_o care_n and_o conscience_n to_o walk_v even_o in_o the_o day_n of_o this_o of_o they_o up_o and_o have_v no_o use_n of_o they_o subiect_v they_o to_o moth_n worm_n rust_n and_o rottenness_n deprive_v as_o themselves_o so_o other_o and_o special_o the_o church_n and_o commonwealth_n of_o the_o free_a &_o christian_n use_n of_o they_o no_o man_n almost_o among_o ten_o thousand_o strive_a or_o care_v religious_o and_o in_o sanctification_n to_o use_v they_o not_o of_o it_o own_o will_n the_o reason_n be_v because_o if_o the_o creature_n can_v choose_v it_o will_v not_o be_v subject_a to_o that_o poor_a estate_n by_o which_o we_o may_v see_v that_o he_o mean_v then_o that_o it_o be_v unwilling_o in_o respect_n of_o itself_o bring_v under_o this_o condition_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o by_o the_o mean_n of_o man_n sin_n subdue_v to_o this_o thraldom_n and_o slavery_n and_o see_v we_o know_v that_o such_o creature_n have_v not_o sens_fw-fr or_o wit_n though_o for_o our_o rudeness_n sake_n such_o thing_n be_v ascribe_v to_o they_o let_v we_o therefore_o understand_v that_o will_v in_o this_o place_n must_v be_v take_v for_o some_o natural_a inclination_n in_o the_o creature_n against_o which_o they_o be_v subject_a as_o before_o &_o not_o otherwise_o and_o the_o rather_o let_v we_o yield_v to_o this_o because_o we_o see_v by_o the_o light_n of_o humane_a reason_n that_o everi_n thing_n do_v by_o a_o natural_a instinct_n aim_v at_o the_o preservation_n of_o itself_o what_o it_o can_v &_o if_o it_o can_v not_o effect_v it_o it_o be_v not_o for_o want_v of_o care_n or_o love_n in_o themselves_o for_o themselves_o but_o by_o mouth_n but_o also_o in_o the_o reverend_a soul_n and_o sanctify_a use_n of_o his_o creature_n and_o that_o the_o rather_o because_o whereas_o he_o may_v for_o our_o sin_n have_v just_o deprive_v we_o not_o of_o some_o one_o of_o they_o alone_o but_o of_o all_o of_o they_o and_o by_o consequent_a of_o our_o natural_a life_n also_o he_o have_v be_v please_v to_o leave_v to_o we_o a_o most_o large_a and_o liberal_a portion_n as_o before_o have_v be_v say_v which_o to_o wit_n god_n alone_o for_o none_o other_o can_v do_v it_o but_o he_o and_o such_o as_o he_o shall_v appoint_v and_o furnish_v with_o gift_n for_o the_o do_n of_o the_o same_o for_o beside_o that_o we_o see_v many_o of_o the_o mighty_a creature_n untameable_a and_o every_o one_o of_o they_o in_o their_o rage_n ready_a to_o the_o crawl_a of_o frog_n in_o his_o own_o chamber_n 31_o psal_n 105.30_o 31_o nor_o let_v the_o swarm_n of_o fly_n and_o louse_n that_o be_v in_o all_o the_o quarter_n of_o his_o land_n why_o be_v not_o we_o ourselves_o able_a to_o avoid_v the_o dart_n of_o death_n the_o grief_n of_o the_o grave_n nay_o what_o speak_v i_o of_o such_o great_a thing_n why_o do_v we_o not_o shun_v if_o we_o can_v the_o sting_a of_o bee_n and_o wasp_n the_o bite_n of_o gnat_n fly_n and_o sundry_a such_o like_a we_o see_v then_o that_o this_o must_v needs_o be_v understand_v of_o god_n alone_o because_o it_o be_v as_o a_o man_n will_v say_v a_o certain_a description_n of_o he_o for_o in_o who_o hand_n and_o power_n be_v it_o else_o to_o cause_v the_o creature_n to_o tremble_v and_o quake_v at_o his_o presence_n and_o to_o walk_v in_o obedience_n unto_o his_o good_a pleasure_n but_o in_o the_o lord_n alone_o let_v we_o proceed_v have_v subdue_v to_o wit_n by_o his_o almighty_a power_n &_o by_o the_o force_n of_o his_o eternal_a word_n ordinance_n and_o decree_n which_o as_o it_o be_v strong_a in_o the_o beginning_n to_o make_v all_o thing_n of_o nothing_o and_o have_v be_v powerful_a ever_o by_o the_o name_n of_o one_o both_o for_o the_o excellency_n of_o he_o that_o be_v the_o one_o and_o the_o only_a creator_n and_o also_o for_o the_o singular_a harmony_n and_o consent_n which_o be_v among_o all_o the_o creature_n themselves_o howsoever_o that_o now_o and_o then_o through_o the_o corruption_n that_o cleave_v unto_o they_o by_o man_n sin_n they_o seem_v to_o jar_v one_o of_o they_o with_o a_o other_o and_o to_o be_v hurtful_a and_o noisome_a one_o to_o a_o other_o but_o of_o this_o somewhat_o have_v be_v say_v before_o &_o therefore_o we_o stay_v not_o upon_o it_o now_o but_o go_v forward_o under_o hope_n to_o wit_n of_o restitution_n to_o that_o excellent_a estate_n which_o they_o have_v by_o creation_n and_o of_o delivery_n from_o that_o miserable_a and_o slavish_a
