god_n and_o that_o our_o affliction_n proceed_v from_o his_o final_a anger_n never_o to_o be_v appease_v but_o these_o his_o sugiestion_n be_v false_a let_v we_o not_o believe_v they_o let_v we_o believe_v that_o who_o god_n do_v chasten_v he_o love_v and_o therefore_o we_o may_v assure_v ourselves_o so_o much_o the_o more_o that_o we_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n by_o how_o much_o we_o find_v these_o tentation_n in_o we_o for_o if_o we_o be_v he_o as_o he_o will_v sugy_a unto_o we_o that_o god_n be_v angry_a with_o we_o and_o we_o not_o he_o he_o need_v not_o to_o trouble_v we_o but_o he_o know_v that_o we_o be_v the_o lord_n he_o work_v by_o all_o mean_n to_o draw_v we_o to_o distrust_v in_o god_n and_o that_o the_o merit_n of_o christ_n can_v avail_v us._n but_o let_v we_o be_v strong_a in_o the_o lord_n let_v we_o trust_v constant_o and_o confident_o in_o the_o merit_n of_o his_o son_n arm_v with_o the_o shield_n of_o faith_n and_o buckle_v unto_o ourselves_o the_o sword_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o do_v contain_v most_o sure_a promise_n that_o he_o will_v never_o leave_v we_o nor_o forsake_v we_o let_v we_o pray_v always_o o_o lord_n with_o meekness_n humbleness_n patience_n peace_n and_o love_n let_v neither_o of_o our_o natural_a infirmity_n o_o lord_n nor_o satan_n practice_n and_o malice_n move_v or_o make_v any_o more_o contention_n quarrel_n or_o debate_n betwixt_o we_o but_o as_o thou_o have_v make_v we_o by_o thy_o holy_a ordinance_n one_o so_o let_v our_o love_n mind_n and_o affection_n be_v one_o that_o late_a to_o taste_v of_o some_o of_o they_o and_o that_o when_o one_o trouble_n be_v past_a to_o prepare_v himself_o for_o another_o for_o common_o when_o one_o cross_a be_v go_v another_o come_v here_o god_n will_v not_o leave_v his_o child_n idle_a and_o to_o live_v in_o carnal_a security_n here_o lest_o they_o shall_v forget_v he_o and_o so_o turn_v his_o favour_n into_o wantonness_n therefore_o say_v david_n 7._o as_o one_o deep_a call_v another_o deep_a by_o the_o noise_n of_o the_o water_n another_o so_o one_o affliction_n call_v for_o another_o sin_n call_v for_o sickness_n sickness_n for_o poverty_n poverty_n for_o enemy_n enemy_n for_o contempt_n vexation_n and_o slander_n if_o thou_o have_v neither_o sickness_n poverty_n enemy_n nor_o contempt_n yet_o sin_n thou_o have_v which_o call_v also_o for_o disobedience_n in_o thy_o child_n disquietness_n in_o thy_o wife_n falsehood_n in_o thy_o servant_n loss_n of_o good_n death_n of_o thy_o virtuous_a child_n or_o thy_o love_a wife_n these_o be_v common_o repute_v cross_n and_o who_o be_v free_a from_o they_o all_o be_v assure_v if_o thou_o be_v the_o true_a child_n of_o god_n one_o or_o some_o or_o all_o these_o will_v visit_v thou_o by_o turn_n 12._o innumerable_a trouble_n say_v david_n have_v compass_v i_o about_o on_o all_o side_n here_o and_o that_o be_v the_o condition_n of_o god_n dear_a saint_n here_o to_o suffer_v affliction_n on_o all_o side_n and_o to_o be_v exercise_v with_o temptation_n of_o diverse_a sort_n the_o servant_n be_v not_o above_o his_o lord_n 20._o if_o they_o have_v persecute_v i_o say_v christ_n they_o will_v also_o persecute_v you_o if_o christ_n have_v trouble_v here_o so_o must_v we_o as_o christ_n through_o many_o trouble_n and_o persecution_n come_v to_o glory_n so_o must_v every_o of_o his_o elect_a drink_n of_o the_o same_o cup_n through_o many_o trouble_n they_o must_v enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n he_o that_o will_v live_v religious_o and_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n must_v look_v for_o trial_n and_o trouble_n in_o the_o world_n trial_n and_o continual_a temptation_n of_o satan_n to_o draw_v he_o to_o sin_n that_o by_o his_o sin_n he_o may_v offend_v god_n that_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a god_n may_v forsake_v he_o the_o most_o godly_a have_v many_o sin_n punish_v and_o sin_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o trouble_n as_o appear_v by_o that_o which_o be_v say_v before_o and_o if_o we_o sin_n shall_v we_o think_v we_o shall_v not_o be_v punish_v though_o not_o as_o the_o mere_o wicked_a in_o god_n hot_a dipleasure_n but_o in_o love_n and_o the_o punishment_n may_v seem_v alike_o with_o
be_v alike_o punish_v and_o in_o deed_n it_o be_v hard_o for_o a_o man_n to_o judge_v his_o own_o much_o more_o hard_a to_o determine_v of_o another_o man_n deserve_n bâ—fore_o god_fw-we who_o often_o time_n keep_v the_o godly_a still_o in_o trouble_n and_o ease_v the_o wicked_a which_o make_v the_o carnal_a man_n to_o think_v the_o wicked_a to_o be_v in_o god_n favour_n and_o the_o child_n of_o god_n in_o deed_n not_o to_o be_v belove_v of_o he_o but_o mark_v well_o the_o purpose_n of_o god_n wicked_a in_o thus_o relieve_n comfort_v and_o ease_v a_o wicked_a man_n of_o his_o trouble_n think_v not_o it_o be_v in_o his_o love_n but_o in_o that_o he_o observe_v in_o he_o a_o mind_n incline_v to_o some_o stubborn_a opposition_n against_o his_o command_n which_o he_o will_v put_v in_o execution_n but_o that_o his_o cross_n and_o affliction_n hinder_v he_o as_o pharaoh_n be_v afflict_v entreat_v moses_n to_o pray_v for_o he_o and_o be_v ease_v thereof_o he_o forget_v his_o affliction_n so_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n when_o they_o rebel_v against_o god_n and_o god_n afflict_v they_o for_o their_o disobedience_n assoon_o as_o by_o submission_n and_o prayer_n they_o be_v ease_v they_o fall_v to_o their_o old_a and_o wont_a stubbornness_n and_o this_o do_v god_n foresee_v namely_o that_o neither_o affliction_n and_o misery_n on_o the_o one_o side_n nor_o prosperity_n and_o outward_a felicity_n on_o the_o other_o can_v bring_v a_o wicked_a man_n to_o be_v good_a a_o rebellious_a to_o be_v obedient_a as_o touch_v god_n correct_v godly_a and_o again_o comfort_v his_o own_o child_n it_o be_v to_o another_o end_n for_o when_o by_o his_o chastisement_n he_o have_v sufficient_o try_v and_o humble_v they_o and_o bring_v they_o to_o the_o knowledge_n and_o acknowledgement_n of_o that_o for_o which_o their_o calamity_n and_o cross_n be_v fall_v upon_o they_o namely_o for_o their_o sin_n and_o disobedience_n then_o he_o begin_v as_o the_o skilful_a chirurgeon_n to_o lay_v mollify_a and_o heal_a plaster_n of_o love_n upon_o their_o wound_n he_o work_v inward_a assurance_n of_o the_o free_a pardon_n of_o their_o sin_n in_o their_o conscience_n by_o the_o apprehension_n of_o his_o mercy_n in_o christ._n the_o godly_a may_v be_v visit_v with_o sickness_n afflict_v so_o may_v the_o wicked_a and_o either_o of_o they_o recover_v their_o health_n they_o may_v likewise_o fall_v into_o poverty_n and_o want_n they_o may_v be_v alike_o imprison_v they_o may_v fall_v into_o equal_a outward_a cross_n and_o be_v alike_o ease_v of_o they_o but_o to_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o one_o and_o that_o god_n glory_n may_v the_o more_o appear_v in_o his_o recovery_n and_o release_n through_o his_o faithful_a prayer_n and_o to_o the_o further_a condemnation_n of_o the_o other_o reserve_v for_o he_o a_o great_a punishment_n howsoever_o he_o may_v think_v that_o god_n have_v restore_v he_o in_o his_o love_n and_o therefore_o god_n be_v sure_o whosoever_o thou_o be_v that_o suffer_v affliction_n here_o to_o hold_v fast_o by_o god_n through_o a_o strong_a faith_n and_o know_v that_o thy_o cross_n be_v send_v thou_o to_o exercise_v thou_o mortal_a danger_n but_o thou_o have_v preserve_v i_o i_o have_v be_v in_o want_n but_o thou_o have_v relieve_v i_o i_o have_v have_v many_o domestical_a cross_n but_o thou_o have_v give_v i_o patience_n to_o bear_v they_o and_o although_o i_o be_v not_o yet_o free_a from_o some_o of_o they_o yet_o will_v i_o not_o fear_v or_o faint_v now_o by_o thy_o grace_n have_v have_v so_o many_o testimony_n of_o thy_o fatherly_a love_a kindness_n towards_o i_o in_o work_v so_o many_o gracious_a delivery_n for_o i_o my_o sin_n then_o provoke_v thou_o to_o correct_v i_o i_o be_o a_o sinner_n to_o rebel_v and_o to_o kick_v against_o thy_o fatherly_a correction_n suggest_v unto_o i_o that_o they_o proceed_v of_o thy_o final_a hatred_n towards_o i_o and_o covet_v to_o feed_v my_o carnal_a inclination_n with_o the_o vain_a pleasure_n and_o delight_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o lust_n of_o my_o corrupt_a heart_n and_o to_o reject_v the_o yoke_n of_o thy_o gentle_a chastisement_n but_o lord_n thou_o have_v teach_v i_o to_o know_v and_o i_o have_v find_v he_o as_o in_o deed_n he_o be_v a_o liar_n a_o enemy_n a_o tempter_n o_o give_v i_o wisdom_n to_o observe_v and_o strength_n to_o withstand_v all_o his_o tentation_n and_o allurement_n that_o i_o may_v onlâ—â—elie_v upon_o thy_o providence_n mercy_n and_o goodness_n wherein_o i_o know_v that_o all_o the_o trouble_n and_o unto_o and_o rely_v only_o upon_o god_n in_o faithful_a prayer_n and_o wait_v with_o patience_n for_o and_o receive_v timely_a supply_n by_o trouble_n and_o affliction_n they_o find_v the_o world_n inconstancy_n humane_a fickleness_n world_n and_o that_o in_o the_o world_n the_o dear_a child_n of_o god_n have_v least_o rest_n they_o be_v toss_v hither_o and_o thither_o one_o trouble_n follow_v another_o as_o the_o drop_n of_o rain_n whereby_o also_o the_o pride_n of_o corrupt_a nature_n in_o the_o godly_a be_v humble_v their_o confidence_n in_o worldly_a mean_n abate_v their_o security_n abandon_v they_o find_v that_o fullness_n breed_v sin_n and_o sin_n procure_v god_n displeasure_n and_o in_o his_o displeasure_n he_o punish_v the_o wicked_a and_o correct_v the_o godly_a and_o neither_o but_o for_o sin_n yet_o the_o one_o in_o his_o justice_n the_o other_o in_o mercy_n and_o therefore_o say_v job_n to_o encourage_v the_o godly_a to_o

the_o more_o appear_v especial_o in_o heal_v the_o sick_a lazarus_n die_v and_o yet_o christ_n say_v 15._o that_o his_o sickness_n be_v not_o unto_o death_n not_o so_o unto_o death_n but_o that_o he_o know_v he_o can_v and_o will_v raise_v he_o again_o though_o he_o be_v four_o day_n dead_a and_o bury_v and_o therefore_o be_v his_o sickness_n and_o death_n only_o that_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n sick_a man_n who_o power_n be_v common_o so_o shake_v with_o the_o force_n of_o the_o disease_n as_o grief_n of_o the_o heart_n can_v hardly_o wrest_v tear_n from_o the_o eye_n or_o word_n from_o the_o lip_n yet_o with_o god_n it_o shall_v be_v accept_v both_o sufficient_a prayer_n and_o prevail_a tear_n if_o thou_o find_v such_o grief_n in_o thy_o heart_n for_o thy_o sin_n and_o such_o a_o desire_n to_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n in_o christ_n as_o may_v but_o move_v inward_a and_o silent_a sigh_n unto_o god_n who_o respect_v more_o the_o holy_a disposition_n of_o the_o heart_n than_o any_o outward_a action_n or_o gesture_n of_o the_o body_n it_o shall_v be_v sufficient_a though_o some_o outward_a show_n of_o faith_n and_o repentance_n be_v necessary_a for_o the_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o thy_o weakness_n become_v such_o as_o thou_o can_v not_o vocal_o and_o verbal_o pray_v as_o by_o thy_o sickness_n it_o may_v come_v to_o pass_v though_o thou_o be_v in_o present_a perfect_a memory_n thy_o heart_n though_o never_o so_o faint_a may_v yet_o have_v a_o feel_n of_o god_n mercy_n not_o and_o may_v show_v itself_o powerful_a to_o god_n though_o it_o seem_v weak_a unto_o man_n for_o god_n be_v absolute_a in_o understanding_n can_v and_o do_v conceive_v the_o meaning_n of_o thy_o heart_n blessing_n far_o better_o than_o in_o thy_o best_a strength_n thou_o
