serve_v god_n only_a for_o the_o reward_n but_o i_o suppose_v they_o that_o speak_v undervalue_o of_o this_o principle_n do_v mean_a or_o at_o least_o shall_v mean_v by_o the_o tendency_n of_o their_o discourse_n that_o it_o be_v a_o legal_a principle_n to_o serve_v god_n in_o hope_n of_o the_o reward_n or_o for_o the_o reward_n and_o that_o so_o far_o as_o we_o serve_v god_n from_o this_o principle_n we_o be_v legal_a or_o at_o least_o we_o miscarry_v in_o so_o do_v and_o indeed_o to_o show_v that_o i_o do_v not_o slander_v a_o party_n i_o have_v hear_v several_a discourse_n wherein_o this_o have_v be_v hot_o argue_v that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o right_a or_o at_o least_o not_o a_o gospel-principle_n to_o serve_v god_n for_o fear_n of_o head_n which_o be_v to_o i_o all_o one_o as_o we_o be_v command_v in_o the_o gospel_n john_n 5.23_o that_o all_o man_n shall_v honour_v the_o son_n as_o they_o honour_v the_o father_n and_o wherein_o do_v abraham_n glorify_v god_n so_o much_o poor_a contemptible_a way_n of_o believe_v only_o believe_v believe_v and_o all_o thing_n be_v possible_a do_v just_o love_v mercy_n and_o walk_v humble_o with_o thy_o god_n no_o but_o man_n that_o will_v merit_v heaven_n they_o must_v be_v do_v such_o a_o number_n of_o duty_n so_o many_o ave-maries_a so_o many_o pater-noster_n heathenish_a vain_a repetition_n they_o must_v give_v themselves_o so_o many_o stripe_n of_o a_o good-friday_n sure_o they_o think_v god_n slight_v plain_a honesty_n as_o a_o homely_a thing_n and_o that_o he_o be_v take_v with_o gallant_a gandy_a magnificent_a conscience_n of_o some_o superstitious_a observation_n be_v mislead_v by_o the_o care_n to_o be_v sufficient_o reverend_a yet_o to_o be_v great_o superstitious_a in_o gospel-day_n be_v a_o shrewd_a sign_n of_o a_o rot_a heart_n and_o so_o not_o so_o incident_a to_o good_a man_n 2_o for_o the_o duty_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n good_a man_n legality_n lie_v in_o two_o particular_n 1._o when_o they_o have_v perform_v a_o duty_n right_o and_o spiritual_o they_o be_v apt_a to_o reflect_v upon_o it_o with_o a_o spiritual_a pride_n and_o ready_a to_o lay_v too_o much_o stress_n upon_o it_o and_o to_o think_v that_o now_o god_n must_v needs_o grant_v the_o petition_n they_o have_v ask_v whereas_o perhaps_o they_o have_v answer_n enough_o in_o the_o very_a sweetness_n of_o the_o duty_n number_n of_o chapter_n or_o do_v any_o good_a task_n which_o they_o have_v lay_v upon_o themselves_o than_o they_o have_v a_o great_a fear_n and_o terror_n lest_o god_n shall_v be_v angry_a and_o displease_v with_o they_o though_o indeed_o mercy_n be_v at_o end_v instead_o of_o sacrifice_n but_o such_o as_o these_o belong_v to_o another_o head_n or_o character_n of_o a_o legal_a spirit_n to_o seek_v it_o this_o way_n it_o must_v be_v in_o some_o kind_n of_o action_n or_o other_o now_o i_o have_v show_v that_o these_o very_a man_n that_o be_v tax_v for_o legality_n by_o the_o apostle_n declare_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v so_o many_o sad_a droop_a despond_v saint_n as_o there_o be_v that_o though_o they_o live_v holy_o and_o we_o can_v but_o think_v they_o be_v good_a man_n yet_o which_o be_v proper_a to_o ourselves_o and_o as_o necessary_a as_o any_o thing_n which_o have_v be_v speak_v to_o i_o affirm_v therefore_o that_o we_o be_v to_o know_v and_o believe_v in_o christ_n
