their_o mind_n full_a of_o doubt_v and_o so_o in_o other_o exercise_n of_o religion_n still_o they_o mingle_v their_o own_o corruption_n in_o so_o much_o that_o god_n can_v have_v no_o like_n of_o sing_v psalm_n and_o the_o like_a that_o they_o be_v wonderful_o disharten_v and_o begin_v to_o fear_v that_o god_n will_v in_o no_o sort_n accept_v of_o they_o if_o they_o shall_v come_v unto_o the_o table_n of_o his_o son_n but_o they_o must_v take_v heed_n how_o they_o give_v way_n to_o such_o conceit_n for_o the_o thing_n above_o mention_v do_v not_o exclude_v they_o from_o have_v right_o unto_o christ_n jesus_n and_o to_o his_o merit_n and_o therefore_o shall_v by_o no_o mean_n keep_v they_o from_o the_o holy_a sacrament_n but_o we_o come_v far_o short_a of_o that_o that_o shall_v be_v in_o us._n object_n what_o of_o that_o if_o you_o have_v a_o sight_n of_o your_o defect_n answ_n and_o a_o mourn_a heart_n for_o the_o same_o and_o a_o constant_a endeavour_n to_o get_v the_o desire_n after_o it_o and_o be_v at_o cost_n to_o procure_v it_o though_o neither_o by_o silver_n nor_o gold_n nor_o any_o charge_n of_o that_o kind_n as_o shall_v after_o be_v show_v 2_o second_o reason_n whereby_o the_o same_o be_v enforce_v 1_o the_o first_o whereof_o be_v draw_v from_o the_o hurt_n that_o will_v ensue_v if_o they_o do_v not_o follow_v his_o direction_n they_o shall_v shall_v reap_v benefit_n by_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n ordinance_n only_o thirsty_a soul_n find_v refresh_v from_o god_n ordinance_n those_o only_a that_o feel_v their_o own_o barrenness_n and_o emptiness_n and_o high_o esteem_v and_o hearty_o desire_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n through_o the_o merit_n of_o christ_n they_o only_o i_o say_v have_v right_a unto_o and_o shall_v have_v a_o be_v never_o so_o dry_a and_o barren_a we_o shall_v be_v make_v to_o flourish_v and_o grow_v as_o the_o grass_n verse_n 4_o and_o as_o the_o willow_n by_o the_o river_n of_o water_n and_o that_o none_o other_o can_v grow_v in_o grace_n or_o gather_v any_o spiritual_a strength_n by_o the_o mean_n it_o be_v evident_a in_o the_o epistle_n of_o peter_n where_o he_o exhort_v they_o in_o this_o manner_n as_o new_o bear_v babe_n desire_v the_o sincere_a milk_n of_o the_o word_n that_o you_o may_v grow_v thereby_o q._n d._n you_o may_v repair_v unto_o the_o word_n as_o often_o as_o you_o in_o us._n 3_o a_o three_o token_n of_o sincerity_n be_v mean_n a_o constant_a and_o conscionable_a use_n of_o all_o the_o mean_n constant_o and_o careful_o to_o use_v all_o the_o good_a mean_n of_o attain_v to_o goodness_n and_o to_o eschew_v all_o the_o inducement_n that_o may_v allure_v unto_o evil_n do_v any_o one_o hate_n swear_v then_o let_v he_o show_v it_o by_o avoid_v the_o company_n of_o blasphemer_n do_v any_o one_o hate_v impurity_n and_o filthiness_n then_o let_v he_o testify_v it_o by_o separate_n himself_o from_o all_o wanton_a and_o lascivious_a company_n and_o from_o all_o suspect_a person_n &_o place_n note_n if_o one_o pretend_v that_o he_o hate_v these_o &_o the_o like_a evil_n and_o yet_o will_v adventure_v upon_o the_o bait_n it_o be_v sure_a that_o such_o a_o one_o want_v that_o truth_n of_o heart_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o he_o and_o be_v in_o all_o so_o far_o as_o they_o be_v sound_v within_o so_o for_o the_o contrary_a do_v any_o one_o desire_v that_o grace_n and_o religion_n may_v flourish_v in_o his_o heart_n and_o that_o the_o fruit_n thereof_o may_v appear_v in_o his_o life_n then_o let_v he_o use_v all_o private_a and_o public_a religious_a exercise_n whereby_o these_o thing_n may_v be_v wrought_v and_o increase_v in_o he_o and_o delight_n in_o such_o company_n as_o both_o by_o precept_n and_o example_n may_v further_o he_o therein_o do_v any_o one_o wish_n that_o he_o can_v get_v victory_n over_o some_o special_a sin_n and_o corruption_n that_o he_o be_v trouble_v withal_o then_o let_v he_o enter_v into_o combat_n against_o they_o as_o the_o apostle_n do_v rom._n 7._o let_v he_o humble_v himself_o by_o fast_v and_o prayer_n and_o complain_v &_o cry_v unto_o the_o lord_n for_o the_o repress_v of_o they_o and_o get_v such_o forcible_a reason_n against_o they_o out_o of_o the_o scripture_n as_o may_v quell_v the_o strength_n and_o violence_n of_o they_o and_o thus_o a_o sincere_a heart_n will_v do_v but_o if_o we_o but_o by_o fit_n and_o flart_n or_o if_o we_o use_v they_o constant_o yet_o we_o do_v it_o but_o remissly_a and_o cold_o we_o can_v have_v any_o assurance_n that_o our_o heart_n be_v faithful_a unto_o the_o lord_n a_o four_o argument_n of_o sincerity_n be_v to_o perform_v all_o duty_n as_o in_o god_n presence_n thing_n respect_v god_n in_o all_o thing_n look_v unto_o he_o as_o the_o direct_a and_o discerner_n of_o our_o thought_n word_n and_o work_n and_o think_v it_o sufficient_a if_o he_o approve_v of_o we_o though_o man_n do_v dislike_v we_o as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n tell_v the_o corinthian_n 4.3.4_o 1_o cor._n 4.3.4_o as_o touch_v i_o i_o pass_v very_o little_a to_o be_v judge_v of_o you_o or_o of_o man_n judgement_n etc._n etc._n he_o that_o iudgee_v i_o be_v the_o lord_n condemn_v themselves_o and_o be_v thorough_o angry_a with_o themselves_o for_o that_o which_o they_o have_v do_v note_n yea_o sometime_o when_o man_n praise_v and_o extol_v they_o yet_o they_o blush_v within_o themselves_o and_o have_v a_o holy_a indignation_n against_o their_o own_o soul_n that_o they_o have_v deal_v hypocritical_o or_o vain_a glorious_o or_o light_o or_o indiscreet_o or_o passionate_o this_o be_v a_o very_a singular_a mark_n &_o undouted_a argument_n of_o great_a piety_n &_o sincerity_n as_o on_o the_o contrary_a it_o be_v a_o certain_a note_n of_o gross_a hypocrisy_n ever_o to_o be_v care_v what_o man_n think_v &_o speak_v of_o we_o &_o of_o our_o do_n &_o never_o to_o regard_v what_o god_n see_v amiss_o in_o the_o same_o profitably_n to_o receive_v a_o rebuke_n will_v ng_o and_o profitably_n 1_o the_o last_o note_n though_o many_o other_o may_v be_v name_v shall_v be_v this_o patient_o to_o endure_v a_o admonition_n and_o reproof_n and_o to_o be_v desirous_a of_o the_o same_o to_o the_o intent_n we_o may_v profit_v thereby_o in_o public_a to_o like_v best_a and_o desire_v most_o those_o sermon_n wherein_o our_o own_o corruption_n be_v most_o thorough_o meet_v withal_o and_o strike_v at_o with_o great_a sharpness_n and_o vehemency_n note_v and_o in_o private_a to_o be_v most_o glad_a of_o the_o society_n of_o those_o friend_n that_o will_v in_o wisdom_n and_o mercy_n tell_v we_o most_o often_o and_o most_o plain_o of_o our_o fault_n hypocrite_n can_v abide_v that_o any_o shall_v rub_v upon_o their_o gall_a back_n as_o it_o be_v or_o come_v near_o they_o
