To divers particular workes of charity As I finde them annexed in the Texts although all places quoted to almes in generall may be applied to each of these particulars 1. Lending to the Poore Gods blessing in all that concernes us f and to our seed is promised g ● If there be among you a ●oore ma● of one of thy brethren within any 〈◊〉 thy gates thou shalt not harden th●ne heart nor shut thine hand from thy poore brother But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need in that which hee wanteth Thou shalt surely give him and thy heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him because that for this thing the Lord thy God shal bless● thee ●●al thy works and in al ●h●t tho● puttest thine hand unto Deut. 15.7.8.10 g Hee is ever mercifull and lendeth and his seed is blessed P. 37.26 2. To leaving gleanings of Corne or Vintage The LORD will blesse all the workes of our hands ● l When thou cuttest downe thy harvest if the field and hast forgot a sheafe in the field thou shalt not goe againe to fetc● it It shal be for the strangers for the fatherlesse and for the widow that the Lord thy God may blesse thee in al the worke of thy hands when thou beatest thine Olive-Tree thou shalt not goe over the boughes againe it shalt be c. When thou gatherest the Grapes of the Vineyard thou shalt not gleane it afterward it shal bee for the stranger for the Fatherlesse and for the widow Deut. 24.19 20 21. 4. To Selling Corne to the Poore The blessings of the LORD shall be upon such m m He that withholdeth corne the people shall curse him but blessings shall bee upon the head of him that selleth it Prov. 11.26 5 To feeding the Hungry giving Drinke to the Thirsty Lodging to the harbourlesse cloathing to the Naked visiting the Sick and Prisoners and receiveing poore Strangers These are signes of our Justification by Christ and that we shall not be punished or perish for our Fathers faults n Christ takes all as done to himselfe o And will accept and acquit us in mercy according to such Workes at the last day p And reward them with Eternall life q ● Vide supra Ez. 18.7.9 g h o And the King shal answer and say unto them verily I say unto you in as much as yee have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren ye have done it unto me Ma● 25.40 p Come vee blessed of my Father inherit the Kingdome prepared for you from
