lay_v up_o in_o heaven_n for_o the_o faithful_a yea_o we_o manifest_o perceive_v that_o this_o honourable_a commendation_n comprehend_v under_o it_o the_o free_a covenant_n by_o which_o the_o lord_n adopt_v unto_o himself_o abraham_n posterity_n into_o the_o hope_n of_o eternal_a life_n the_o sum_n of_o all_o come_v to_o this_o verse_n the_o sum_n of_o this_o verse_n that_o see_v the_o goodness_n and_o power_n of_o god_n be_v so_o great_a we_o ought_v not_o to_o distrust_v he_o but_o our_o confidence_n ought_v so_o to_o be_v settle_v thereupon_o that_o we_o shall_v assure_o rely_v upon_o his_o help_n and_o to_o this_o belong_v these_o excellent_a benefit_n which_o the_o prophet_n here_o mention_n verse_n 5._o thou_o do_v meet_v he_o that_o rejoice_v in_o thou_o and_o do_v just_o they_o word_n to_o remember_v god_n signify_v to_o be_v so_o sweet_o allure_v with_o think_v on_o he_o that_o we_o wish_v for_o nothing_o beside_o and_o place_v our_o whole_a felicity_n in_o he_o for_o there_o be_v nothing_o which_o more_o rejoice_v we_o than_o the_o remembrance_n of_o his_o mercy_n as_o on_o the_o contrary_a if_o we_o feel_v he_o angry_a than_o the_o remembrance_n of_o his_o name_n be_v terrible_a unto_o us._n and_o we_o have_v sin_v the_o prophet_n render_v a_o reason_n of_o that_o above_o say_v for_o they_o murmur_v not_o against_o god_n because_o they_o feel_v he_o otherwise_o to_o they_o then_o he_o be_v towards_o their_o father_n but_o they_o lie_v the_o whole_a blame_n upon_o themselves_o hence_o let_v we_o learn_v never_o to_o think_v of_o the_o affliction_n wherewith_o the_o lord_n visit_v we_o unless_o therewithal_o we_o call_v our_o sin_n to_o remembrance_n that_o so_o we_o may_v both_o acknowledge_v our_o fault_n as_o also_o confess_v that_o we_o be_v if_o they_o be_v to_o expect_v nothing_o but_o utter_a ruin_n the_o prophet_n therefore_o admonish_v they_o betimes_o not_o to_o quail_v though_o they_o be_v forsake_v because_o god_n according_a to_o come_v not_o between_o day_n will_v seem_v unto_o we_o as_o long_o as_o year_n year_n if_o we_o set_v not_o the_o eternal_a weight_n of_o glory_n against_o our_o momentany_a affliction_n day_n will_v seem_v to_o we_o as_o long_o as_o year_n neither_o be_v there_o any_o reason_n to_o compare_v seventie_o year_n captivity_n to_o a_o moment_n if_o the_o continual_a progress_n of_o god_n favour_n be_v deluge_n which_o then_o deform_v the_o face_n of_o the_o whole_a earth_n so_o as_o the_o church_n seem_v to_o be_v utter_o waste_v the_o people_n be_v all_o in_o a_o manner_n carry_v away_o and_o transform_v into_o a_o strange_a nation_n the_o kingdom_n and_o government_n be_v overthrow_v their_o bondage_n be_v extreme_a and_o no_o man_n will_v have_v imagine_v but_o that_o their_o memory_n and_o name_n have_v be_v whole_o blot_v out_o and_o questionless_a that_o which_o our_o prophet_n say_v in_o the_o first_o chapter_n come_v to_o pass_v namely_o that_o if_o the_o lord_n have_v not_o leave_v a_o small_a remnant_n they_o shall_v have_v be_v like_o to_o sodom_n and_o gomorah_n it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n then_o that_o he_o compare_v this_o captivity_n to_o the_o water_n of_o way_n of_o comparison_n for_o he_o oppose_v this_o member_n to_o the_o former_a promise_v never_o to_o correct_v his_o people_n so_o severe_o again_o but_o that_o he_o will_v both_o mitigate_v and_o moderate_v his_o stripe_n although_o tyrant_n then_o play_v the_o wild_a beast_n in_o run_v upon_o we_o with_o a_o desperate_a fury_n and_o that_o satan_n on_o the_o other_o side_n leave_v no_o plot_n work_n of_o his_o hand_n by_o how_o much_o the_o more_o than_o a_o man_n be_v possess_v with_o the_o true_a fear_n of_o god_n the_o more_o near_o be_v he_o touch_v to_o the_o quick_a with_o the_o feel_n of_o his_o judgement_n in_o the_o mean_a while_n the_o wicked_a be_v besot_v when_o he_o manifest_v the_o same_o and_o will_v not_o be_v move_v for_o any_o terror_n whatsoever_o the_o godly_a on_o the_o contrary_a quake_n at_o the_o least_o sign_n of_o his_o displeasure_n if_o we_o have_v experience_n of_o this_o what_o think_v we_o the_o prophet_n feel_v who_o see_v all_o these_o horrible_a desolation_n before_o the_o prophet_n as_o in_o a_o table_n it_o be_v necessary_a that_o be_v move_v with_o sorrow_n and_o grief_n he_o shall_v turn_v his_o eye_n unto_o the_o lord_n for_o otherwise_o he_o may_v have_v be_v entangle_v with_o confuse_a passion_n and_o great_a disquietness_n of_o mind_n and_o therefore_o be_v assure_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v provide_v for_o his_o to_o pray_v with_o such_o word_n as_o savour_n somewhat_o of_o the_o infirmity_n of_o our_o nature_n the_o faithful_a then_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v arise_v or_o awake_v not_o as_o if_o he_o be_v idle_a or_o asleep_a in_o heaven_n but_o they_o rather_o acknowledge_v therein_o their_o own_o dulness_n or_o slothfulness_n in_o regard_n they_o can_v conceive_v aught_o else_o of_o god_n as_o long_o if_o two_o or_o three_o be_v not_o sufficient_a yet_o at_o least_o the_o great_a number_n of_o they_o may_v whole_o confirm_v the_o faith_n of_o the_o elect_a now_o because_o it_o be_v too_o tedious_a to_o draw_v a_o long_a catalogue_n of_o all_o he_o name_v this_o first_o and_o excellent_a miracle_n among_o the_o rest_n namely_o the_o wonderful_a deliverance_n of_o the_o people_n out_o of_o speedy_o of_o our_o affliction_n impatiency_n we_o must_v set_v christ_n speedines_n in_o come_v to_o our_o rescue_n against_o our_o impatiency_n which_o we_o ought_v to_o oppose_v to_o our_o impatiency_n because_o it_o seem_v to_o we_o that_o he_o be_v too_o slow_a in_o succor_v us._n but_o when_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o oversway_v by_o our_o passion_n let_v we_o think_v sure_o this_o come_v to_o pass_v because_o we_o give_v not_o place_n to_o his_o providence_n although_o then_o that_o he_o tarry_v according_a to_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o flesh_n us._n although_o christ_n seem_v to_o tarry_v long_o in_o our_o sense_n yet_o he_o know_v what_o time_n be_v fit_a to_o help_v us._n yet_o do_v he_o always_o moderate_v his_o judgement_n after_o a_o most_o excellent_a order_n according_a as_o he_o know_v the_o season_n best_o for_o us._n for_o this_o cause_n then_o let_v we_o quiet_o wait_v his_o good_a pleasure_n verse_n 6._o we_o have_v hear_v of_o the_o pride_n of_o
