name_n so_o that_o this_o be_v undoubted_o true_a that_o the_o penman_n of_o the_o scripture_n have_v thus_o explain_v it_o use_v 1_o wicked_o then_o deal_v the_o papist_n in_o that_o they_o lay_v a_o hardness_n and_o obscurity_n on_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o teach_v that_o though_o the_o scripture_n be_v deliver_v in_o our_o mother_n tongue_n yet_o they_o be_v so_o hard_a to_o be_v understand_v not_o only_o of_o the_o ignorant_a and_o common_a sort_n of_o people_n the_o laity_n but_o the_o learned_a among_o themselves_o they_o can_v tell_v when_o they_o have_v the_o true_a sense_n and_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n no_o not_o of_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v fundamental_a unless_o the_o church_n consent_n with_o they_o nay_o the_o great_a rabbin_n and_o doctor_n among_o we_o can_v understand_v the_o scripture_n without_o consent_n of_o the_o church_n oh_o consider_v have_v god_n send_v unto_o we_o his_o word_n as_o a_o letter_n and_o epistle_n to_o testify_v his_o mind_n unto_o we_o and_o unto_o his_o church_n and_o have_v he_o shut_v it_o up_o in_o such_o doubtful_a term_n that_o a_o man_n can_v tell_v when_o he_o have_v the_o understanding_n of_o it_o he_o send_v it_o to_o testify_v his_o mind_n and_o will_n unto_o we_o and_o have_v he_o so_o shut_v it_o up_o that_o we_o can_v tell_v when_o we_o have_v the_o sense_n of_o it_o oh_o fearful_a blasphemy_n why_o it_o be_v better_a that_o we_o have_v no_o scripture_n write_v at_o all_o far_o better_o then_o to_o have_v it_o so_o doubtful_a but_o there_o be_v no_o jot_n of_o it_o but_o serve_v for_o the_o good_a of_o his_o people_n both_o in_o this_o life_n and_o the_o life_n to_o come_v god_n have_v so_o order_v the_o tongue_n of_o the_o holy_a writer_n and_o penman_n of_o scripture_n his_o prophet_n and_o apostle_n that_o the_o meaning_n be_v easy_a to_o be_v understand_v by_o such_o as_o come_v unto_o it_o with_o attentive_a mind_n that_o do_v read_v diligent_o mark_v attentive_o judge_v humble_o and_o pray_v hearty_o use_v 2_o but_o to_o make_v use_n of_o this_o to_o ourselves_o be_v it_o so_o that_o the_o holy_a prophet_n and_o penman_n of_o scripture_n do_v deliver_v plain_o in_o one_o place_n what_o be_v hard_a in_o another_o upon_o this_o ground_n it_o follow_v that_o the_o best_a way_n of_o expound_v scripture_n be_v by_o scripture_n itself_o we_o common_o give_v thus_o much_o to_o a_o man_n that_o he_o be_v the_o best_a expounder_n of_o himself_o so_o then_o learn_v we_o to_o apply_v and_o compare_v scripture_n with_o scripture_n and_o in_o that_o we_o comfortable_a place_n of_o scripture_n that_o set_v forth_o god_n mercy_n as_o that_o in_o psal_n 103.8_o the_o lord_n be_v full_a of_o compassion_n and_o mercy_n slow_a to_o anger_n and_o of_o great_a kindness_n and_o in_o psal_n 145.9_o the_o mercy_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v over_o all_o his_o work_n these_o the_o devil_n make_v to_o entitle_v to_o themselves_o yea_o with_o a_o psalm_n of_o they_o by_o their_o meritorious_a desert_n this_o can_v possible_o be_v for_o mercy_n be_v give_v for_o the_o magnify_n of_o his_o mercy_n for_o if_o it_o be_v so_o as_o the_o papist_n teach_v give_v for_o their_o merit_n by_o the_o hand_n of_o justice_n sure_o than_o god_n shall_v aim_n at_o his_o justice_n as_o the_o main_a and_o high_a end_n of_o all_o in_o their_o glorification_n which_o be_v not_o so_o for_o he_o aim_v at_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o mercy_n for_o indeed_o as_o god_n intend_v and_o aim_v at_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o justice_n and_o power_n as_o the_o high_a end_n in_o the_o destruction_n of_o the_o reprobate_n and_o wicked_a and_o so_o he_o aim_v at_o the_o glorification_n of_o his_o mercy_n as_o the_o high_a end_n in_o the_o salvation_n of_o the_o elect_a and_o patience_n to_o the_o reprobate_n be_v to_o manifest_v the_o power_n of_o his_o wrath_n and_o that_o be_v to_o make_v his_o power_n know_v god_n suffer_v reprobate_n a_o long_a time_n that_o there_o may_v be_v a_o manifestation_n of_o his_o power_n and_o wrath_n in_o punish_v of_o they_o which_o be_v holy_a and_o good_a end_n here_o we_o may_v stand_v to_o show_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v know_v to_o be_v a_o god_n of_o power_n not_o only_o of_o infinite_a power_n of_o mercy_n but_o he_o will_v be_v know_v to_o be_v a_o god_n of_o just_a anger_n and_o of_o punishment_n on_o wicked_a person_n and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v some_o to_o everlasting_a destruction_n for_o the_o set_n forth_o of_o his_o power_n for_o if_o all_o be_v to_o be_v save_v than_o he_o be_v only_o a_o god_n of_o mercy_n but_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v know_v to_o be_v a_o just_a god_n in_o his_o punish_n of_o they_o and_o to_o be_v a_o god_n of_o infinite_a power_n now_o if_o it_o be_v so_o as_o the_o anabaptist_n hold_v that_o he_o have_v ordain_v all_o to_o salvation_n he_o be_v then_o a_o god_n of_o mercy_n and_o not_o of_o justice_n let_v we_o consider_v these_o two_o end_n 1._o to_o show_v his_o wrath_n 2._o to_o make_v his_o power_n know_v and_o first_o of_o the_o end_n to_o show_v his_o wrath_n what_o if_o god_n willing_a to_o show_v his_o wrath_n god_n suffer_v wicked_a person_n that_o he_o may_v conceive_v just_a displeasure_n against_o they_o and_o may_v inflict_v punishment_n upon_o they_o and_o may_v just_o be_v angry_a with_o they_o to_o this_o end_n be_v he_o patient_a and_o forbear_v they_o now_o then_o from_o this_o we_o may_v gather_v this_o conclusion_n that_o god_n be_v just_o offend_v with_o such_o person_n that_o do_v abuse_v his_o patience_n where_o the_o apostle_n threaten_v judgement_n to_o fall_v upon_o as_o do_v abuse_v the_o bounty_n gentleness_n kindness_n and_o patience_n of_o god_n and_o be_v not_o better_v by_o it_o but_o rather_o worse_a oh_o say_v the_o apostle_n thou_o that_o suffer_v thyself_o to_o go_v on_o in_o sin_n and_o be_v not_o lead_v to_o repentance_n by_o the_o long_a suffering_n of_o god_n what_o do_v thou_o thou_o do_v heap_v up_o to_o thyself_o wrath_n and_o heavy_a vengeance_n against_o the_o day_n of_o wrath_n in_o prov._n 1.22_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n cry_v out_o to_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a person_n in_o this_o manner_n o_o you_o foolish_a people_n how_o long_o will_v you_o be_v so_o foolish_a how_o long_o will_v the_o scornful_a take_v pleasure_n and_o delight_n in_o scorn_v long_o will_v you_o love_v foolishness_n see_v i_o have_v call_v and_o you_o have_v refuse_v i_o have_v woo_v you_o i_o have_v seek_v unto_o you_o and_o send_v my_o messenger_n and_o minister_n time_n after_o time_n and_o you_o have_v refuse_v my_o correction_n and_o my_o counsel_n therefore_o say_v the_o lord_n i_o will_v laugh_v at_o your_o destruction_n and_o mock_v when_o your_o fear_n come_v
