then_o grant_v the_o mercy_n in_o kind_n that_o be_v desire_v we_o shall_v begin_v with_o the_o last_o as_o be_v many_o a_o time_n the_o sad_a trial_n and_o exercise_n of_o the_o saint_n who_o not_o see_v the_o lord_n design_n nor_o observe_v the_o compensation_n it_o haply_o be_v in_o spiritual_n which_o be_v not_o so_o easy_o discern_v have_v be_v ready_a to_o apprehend_v such_o a_o use_v as_o talent_n wherewith_o we_o shall_v trade_v and_o gain_v and_o not_o to_o be_v lay_v up_o in_o a_o napkin_n to_o rust_v and_o corrupt_v and_o therefore_o its_o needful_a that_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o providence_n shall_v offer_v occasion_n for_o their_o exercise_n as_o in_o the_o present_a case_n while_o he_o withholdeth_a our_o heart_n desire_v then_o in_o patience_n to_o submit_v to_o his_o holy_a counsel_n and_o still_o to_o depend_v upon_o he_o as_o it_o must_v be_v the_o work_n of_o honest_a supplicant_n so_o 2._o it_o be_v their_o trial_n thus_o the_o sincerity_n of_o their_o heart_n and_o reality_n of_o their_o grace_n be_v bring_v to_o the_o touchstone_n not_o only_o must_v our_o grace_n be_v exercise_v for_o their_o growth_n and_o increase_n but_o also_o for_o their_o trial_n and_o discovery_n and_o to_o give_v satan_n the_o world_n yea_o and_o our_o own_o heart_n a_o evidence_n of_o their_o truth_n yea_o and_o sometime_o of_o their_o strength_n and_o perfection_n if_o notwithstanding_o we_o meet_v with_o no_o sensible_a demonstration_n yet_o we_o will_v believe_v god_n word_n of_o promise_n depend_v upon_o he_o and_o patient_o bear_v a_o seem_a repulse_n and_o denial_n 3._o hereby_o the_o lord_n will_v draw_v our_o heart_n off_o from_o the_o creature_n that_o we_o may_v enjoy_v a_o more_o fulâ—_n and_o immediate_a communion_n with_o himself_o he_o will_v of_o performance_n a_o impenitent_a bold_a sinner_n dare_v not_o can_v pray_v importunate_o and_o in_o faith_n and_o thus_o the_o prayer_n of_o secure_a sinner_n must_v be_v naught_o and_o many_o way_n defective_a so_o that_o this_o sort_n of_o sin_n do_v bring_v a_o long_a and_o must_v be_v accompany_v with_o the_o former_a a_o guilty_a supplicant_n will_v not_o pray_v to_o purpose_n but_o suppose_v his_o prayer_n be_v regular_a yet_o his_o sin_n will_v outcry_n his_o prayer_n while_o david_n though_o a_o eminent_a saint_n be_v pray_v he_o hear_v a_o voice_n cry_v and_o plead_v
