LXXIII GOD truely unto Israel is good as may be seen Even to all such as upright are and of a heart that 's clean verse 2 But as for me in my great grief my feet in ev'rie way Were almost gone my steps also had well nigh slipt away verse 3 For envious at foolish men I was most foolishlie When of the wicked still I saw the great prosperitie verse 4 For in their death there are no baâ— as others feel infirm But in their health and wealth also their strength is ever firm verse 5 They are not as all other men in trouble as we see Nor yet like other men also on earth they plagued be verse 6 Therefore vain pride even as a chiâ—â— doth compasse them about Even as a garment violence doth cover them throughout verse 7 Their eyes always with fatnes swolâ— stand out yea more then this They have more wealth among their hands than any heart could wish verse 8 They altogether are corrupt and speak most wickedly Concerning their oppression great they proud speak loftily verse 9 Against the heav'ns most proudly they do set their mouth and talk Their tongue reviling throgh the earth continually doth walk verse 10 Therefore soon hither do return the people round about And of a full cup waters great unto them are wrung out verse 11 And thus they say how doth at all GOD know the things that be And is there any knowledge now in him who is most hie verse 12 Behold those the ungodly are and prosper at their will Heer in the world alwayes they do increase in riches still verse 13 I verilie did say my heart I cleansed have in vain And in mine innocencie al 's have wash'd my hands with paiâ— verse 14 For all the day long have I been still plagued more and more And every morning early I have al 's been chastned sore verse 15 If I say I will surely thus speak as I did intend Thy childrens generation just behold I should offend verse 16 When I this thought to know theâ— too painfull was for me verse 17 Till to GODS Sanctuary I went then I their end did see verse 18 In slipperie places surely thou didst set them all at last Thou them into destruction all down shamefully didst cast verse 19 How into desolation they as in a moment be Thus brought They all with terrours are consumed utterlie verse 20 As a vain dream when one awakes even so O LORD likewise When thou awak'st most surely thou their image shalt despise verse 21 Thus was my heart griev'd I was in my reines pricked sore verse 22 So foolish I and ignorant a beast was thee before verse 23 Neverthelesse continually I alwayes am with thee By my right hand thou surely hast most safely holden me verse 24 Thou shalt me with thy couÌ„sel wise still guide as I do crave And afterward to glory thou me surely shalt receive verse 25 Whom in distresse have I in heav'n but thee whom I require Besides thee also there is none on earth that I desire verse 26 My flesh and heart fail me but God who failes me neveâ— The strength is of my heart and â— my portion ev'n for ever verse 27 For lo they that are far from shall perish so and so Thou hast all them destroyed thaâ— from thee a whoring go verse 28 But for me to draw neer to Gâ—â— it 's good ev'n evry where I trusted have in God that I may all thy works declare PSAL. LXXIV O God why hast thou us for â— cast off in danger deep why doth thine anger smoak agaiâ— ev'n thine own pasture sheep verse 2 Thy congregation dear to thee in good remembrance hold Which thou ev'n in thy mercie gâ— hast purchased of old The rod of thine inheritance which thou redeemed hast This Mount Sion wherein alwayes thou dwelt m time bypast To desolations lasting still lift up thy feet anone â—'n all that in the Sanctuarie the enemie still hath done Amidst thy congregations all thy enmies still do roar They also do set up for signes their ensignes in great store A man was famous and renown'd in their societies â—ccording as the axes he did lift on the thick trees But with sharp axes and also strong hammers which they take â—e carved work thereof at once in furie down they break They fire into thy Sanctuary have cast by casting down â—hey have defil'd the dwelling place of thy Name to the ground verse 8 They said in heart Let us destroâ— together all their band GODS synagogues they have burnt that are in all the land verse 9 Our signes we see not no more a Prophet us among Nor yet among us any is that knoweth well how long verse 10 How long Lord shall th'adversâ— thus us reproach with shame Shall th' enmie fierce for ever thus blaspheme thy holy Name verse 11 Why
verse 7 I watch alwayes and I am as a sparrow that alone In grief and sorrow sitteth still ev'n the house top upon verse 8 Mine enmies me do still reproch each day both ev'n and morn And they that are against me mad are al 's against me sworn verse 9 For ashes I have eaten still like bread as I do think And in my grief I mingled have with weeping all my drink verse 10 Because of thy most fearfull wrath and indignation great For thou hast lift me up and hast down cast me from my seat verse 11 My dayes are like a shadow that declining soon doth passe And I with troubles vexed sore am with'red like the grasse verse 12 But thou O LORD for ever shalt endure most stedfastlie And to all generations still thy remembrance shall be verse 13 Thou shalt arise and mercy have on Zion thus ov'rcome For now the time to favour her yea the set time is come verse 14 For thy servants do in stones delight and pleasure take Yea and the very dust thereof they favour for her sake verse 15 So of the LORD the heathen shall with rev'rence fear the Name And to thy glory earthly Kings shall all still do the same verse 16 When as the LORD in mercy shall build up his Zion dear He shall then in his glory great with Majesty appear verse 17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute likewise And al 's the prayer that they make he never will despise verse 18 This for the generation to come shall written be And people not created yet shall praise the Lord most hie verse 19 For he look'd down hath from the height of all his Sanctuary The LORD the earth all did behold ev'n from the heavens hye verse 20 To hear ev'n of the prisoners all the heavy groning breath To freely loose all those that are appointed unto death verse 21 In Zion clearly to declare the Lords most holy Name And also to set foorth his praise ev'n in Jerusalem verse 22 WheÌ„ people the kingdomes meet to serve the LORD alwayes verse 23 He weakned in the way my strength he shortned al 's my dayes verse 24 In midst of all my dayes I said Lord take me not away Throughout all generations still thy yeers for ever stay verse 25 Of old thou the foundation of the earth most sure hast laid The heav'ns above are the great work which by thy hand was made verse 26 They perish shall but stedfastly thou shalt endure alway Yea like a garment shall they all wax old and wear away Thou shalt them as a vesture change and changed be they shall verse 27 But thou the same art and thy yeers shall have no end at all verse 28 The children of thy servants all continue shall indeed And for all times shall thee before establish'd be their feed PSAL. CIII O Thou my Soul most thankfully go to and blesse the LORD All that 's in me his holy Name now blesse with one accord verse 2 Blesse GOD my Soul and not forget his benefits not small verse 3 Who all thy sins forgives who al 's heals thy diseases all verse 4 Who from destruction doth redeem thy life sore pressed down Who doth with loving kindnesse thee and tender mercies crown verse 5 Who fully with good things also doth satisfie thy mouth So that ev'n like the Eagles still renewed is thy youth verse 6 The mighty Lord doth execute ev'n righteousnesse most rare And judgement also for all those that heer oppressed are verse 7 He to his servant Moses made his wayes most clearly known And unto Israels children al 's his valiant acts were shown verse 8 Both mercifull and gracious still the Lord delights to be To anger slow most plenteous al 's in mercy still is he verse 9 He though for sin he whiles us check yet will not alwayes chide Nor yet will he his anger keep for ever to abide verse 10 He not according to our sins hath dealt with us in wrath Nor after our iniquities he us rewarded hath verse 11 For as the heaven very high above the earth is set So toward them that doe him fear his mercy still is great verse 12 As far as th' East is from the West so far by his great love From us he our transgressions all in mercy doth remove verse 13 Like as a father tenderly his children pities heer So likewise the Lord pities them that truely do him fear verse 14 For he that made us all doth know our frame most perfectly He also doth remember well that but frail dust we be verse 15 As for man heer his dayes are as the grasse in ev'ry case As of the field a flower ev'n so he flourisheth a space verse 16 For over it the winde doth passe and it is gone therefore And after that the place thereof shall know it then no more verse 17 But GODS mercy for ever lasts upon them that him fear His righteousnesse doth also reach to childrens children heer verse 18 To such as still his cov'nant keep and also those unto That his commandments every one remember well to do verse 19 The Lord up in the heav'ns above prepared hath his throne And his most glorious kingdome still rules over all alone verse 20 Ye angels that excell in strength most gladly blesse the Lord Who do his precepts hearkning well to the voice of his word verse 21 Blesse chearfully the Lord all ye his hosts that do excell Ye Ministers of all his coasts that do his pleasure well verse 22 Now blesse the Lord all yee he his works and that with one accord Of his dominion in each place O my soul blesse the Lord PSAL. CXXXVII OF Babylon the rivers by there sate we down together Yea we did weep all troubled when we Zion did remember verse 2 On willows then we hang'd our harps in midst thereof along For there they that us captive led requir'd of us a song And they that always wasted us did mirth of us require Sing us said they one of the songs of Zion we desire verse 4 How shal we all thus fill'd with grief such things now take in hand As gladly the LORDS song to sing in a strange forrain land verse 5 But O Jerusalem if I forget thee also let My right hand well addrest to play her cunning quite forget verse 6 If I do not remember thee as long as I shall live Then to the roof still of my mouth let my tongue ever cleave If I not dear Jerusalem with a most hearty love Be carefull ever to prefer my chiefest joy above verse 7 Remember Edoms children LORD who said in Salems day Raze it to the foundation all yea raze it quite away verse 8 O Babels daughter who destroy'd shall all be happy he That as thou hast ill served us likewise rewardeth thee verse 9 Most happy shall he be alwayes that takes thy little ones And them without compassion all doth dash against the stones PSAL. CXXXVIII WIth my whole heart most thankfully thee always praise I wil Before the gods I will also sing praise unto thee still verse 2 Thy holy Temple towards I to worship now will go And for thy kindnes praise thy Name and for thy truth also For thou who ever art most true and stedfast in thy love Hast highly magnifi'd thy word even all thy Name above verse 3 When in the day of troubles I did cry thou answer'dst me And also with strength in my soul thou didst well strengthen me verse 4 The kings all of the earth below shall then of thee praise O LORD When they of thy most blessed mouth shall hear the lively word verse 5 Yea in the wayes they of the Lord shall alwayes surely sing For great indeed the glory is of the Lord GOD our King verse 6 Though God by high yet stil he hath to humble men and low A great respect as for the proud a farre he them doth know verse 7 Though I in midst of trouble walk I from thee life shall have Gainst my foes wrath thou'lt stretch thâ— hand thy right hand shall me save verse 8 GOD will perfite what me concerns for ay thy mercy stands O LORD in wrath forsake not now the works of thine own hands PSAL. CXLV O Thou who art my God King I will extoll thy fame â—â—r ever and for ever I will blesse thy holy Name Ev'n ev'ry day I live on earth I with thy saints together â—ill still thee blesse and praise I will thy Name for ever and ever Great is the Lord and greatly to be praisd by great and small And his excellent greatnesse is unsearchable to all verse 4 One generation still shall praise thy works unto another And clearly also shall declare thy mighty acts together verse 5 I of the glorious honour of thy divine Majestie Will alwayes speak and of thy wâ— that still most wondrous be verse 6 And of thy acts most terrible men shall speak of the might And I likewise thy greatnesse will declare with heart upright verse 7 They utter shall aboundantly of thy great goodnesse all The memorie of thy righteousneâ— most sweetly sing they shall verse 6 The LORD is gracious and full compassion ev'ry way To anger slow and also is of mercy great alway verse 9 The LORD his goodnes doth exâ— unto both great and small â—is tender mercies alwayes are his works ev'n over all Thy works al shal thee praise O Lord thy Saints shall blesse thee all Thy kingdoms glory tell shall they of thy might talk they shall To make known to the sons of men his acts that mighty be â—â—d of his kingdome excellent the glorious Majestie An everlasting kingdome is thy Kingdome firme and sure 〈◊〉 thy dominion always doth through ages all endure By his almighty hand the LORD upholdeth all that fall â—â—d those that low be bowed down up high he raiseth all The eyes of all things on the earth wait on thee as is meet â—â—d in due season always thou giv'st unto them their meat verse 16 Thy hand thou op'nest very wide great blessings for to bring And the desire dost satisfie of every living thing verse 17 The LORD is ever righteous still in all wayes that are his And also he in all his works most truely holy is verse 18 The LORD to all that call on him is nigh in ev'ry part Even to all those that on him call in truth with all their heart verse 19 The good desire he will fulfill of them that do him fear He will them save he also will their cry in trouble hear verse 20 The Lord preserves them who 〈…〉 that nothing them anoy But all the wicked in his wrath he surely will destroy verse 21 The praise of the Almighty Lorâ— my mouth shall still proclame And let all flesh for evermore still blesse his holy Name PSAL. CXLVI PRaise ye the Lord his servants all and that with one accord O thou my soul most chearfully praise the almighty Lord.
