sin_n again_o he_o that_o shall_v believe_v and_o be_v baptize_v shall_v be_v save_v and_o joh._n 3._o he_o say_v god_n so_o love_v the_o world_n that_o he_o have_v give_v his_o only_o beget_v son_n that_o who_o soever_o believe_v in_o he_o shall_v not_o perish_v but_o have_v everlasting_a life_n therefore_o god_n have_v set_v forth_o the_o mercy_n seat_n unto_o we_o whereunto_o he_o lead_v we_o from_o the_o judgement_n seat_n let_v we_o leave_v other_o before_o the_o judgement_n seat_n namely_o those_o proud_a holy_a one_o contemner_n and_o persecuter_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n where_o they_o shall_v hear_v sentence_n according_a to_o their_o deed_n we_o will_v suffer_v these_o to_o abide_v in_o their_o circle_n until_o they_o have_v humble_v themselves_o but_o we_o will_v not_o abide_v in_o this_o circle_n but_o will_v depart_v from_o it_o as_o far_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v able_a into_o the_o circle_n of_o the_o mercy_n feat_n unto_o which_o we_o do_v appeal_v neither_o have_v we_o invent_v this_o of_o our_o own_o brain_n but_o it_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n himself_o which_o threaten_v horrible_a judgement_n to_o they_o which_o come_v with_o their_o own_o holiness_n and_o trust_v thereunto_o do_v hope_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o stand_v before_o god_n the_o judge_n neglect_v the_o mercy_n seat_n of_o christ_n for_o the_o sentence_n stand_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v set_v before_o the_o judgement_n seat_n as_o christ_n say_v joh._n 3_o he_o that_o believe_v not_o be_v condemn_v already_o because_o he_o have_v not_o believe_v in_o the_o name_n of_o that_o only_o beget_v son_n of_o god_n he_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o be_v not_o condemn_v that_o be_v shall_v not_o come_v to_o the_o judgement_n seat_n but_o to_o the_o mercy_n seat_n where_o there_o be_v no_o wrath_n or_o rigour_n but_o grace_n &_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n all_o thing_n be_v remit_v which_o be_v not_o pure_a yea_o being_n blot_v out_o and_o so_o consume_v as_o a_o drop_n of_o water_n be_v consume_v of_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o sun_n for_o where_o the_o mercy_n seat_n reign_v there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o mere_a forgevenes_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n this_o therefore_o be_v know_v we_o must_v exact_o understand_v the_o difference_n between_o the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n whereof_o we_o often_o teach_v law_n the_o office_n of_o the_o law_n the_o law_n draw_v we_o to_o the_o judgement_n seat_n require_v of_o we_o integrity_n of_o life_n love_v out_o of_o a_o pure_a heart_n &_o a_o good_a conscience_n it_o make_v we_o also_o to_o exercise_v ourselves_o therein_o and_o must_v go_v no_o further_o but_o when_o it_o shall_v come_v and_o accuse_v thou_o and_o will_v reason_v with_o thou_o and_o have_v those_o thing_n to_o be_v perform_v which_o it_o require_v then_o shall_v thou_o be_v great_o trouble_v for_o albeit_o thou_o have_v do_v they_o yet_o be_v thou_o not_o able_a to_o stand_v before_o god_n before_o who_o judgement_n seat_n many_o thing_n be_v yet_o find_v want_v in_o thou_o which_o shall_v have_v be_v do_v of_o thou_o and_o thou_o have_v leave_v they_o undo_v neither_o be_v they_o know_v unto_o thyself_o seat_n the_o law_n will_v drive_v we_o unto_o desperation_n unless_o we_o can_v appeal_v from_o the_o judgement_n seat_n to_o the_o mercy_n seat_n whither_o then_o will_v thou_o turn_v thou_o here_o the_o law_n urge_v thou_o by_o all_o mean_n and_o thy_o own_o conscience_n be_v witness_n accuse_v thou_o require_v the_o sentence_n of_o the_o judge_n against_o thou_o then_o must_v thou_o despeire_n there_o be_v no_o counsel_n or_o help_v to_o be_v have_v except_o thou_o know_v to_o fly_v from_o the_o judgement_n seat_n to_o the_o mercy_n seat_n as_o for_o example_n admit_v some_o bishop_n die_v in_o his_o own_o holiness_n who_o while_o he_o live_v be_v as_o it_o seem_v of_o a_o good_a life_n and_o acknowledge_v christ_n not_o otherwise_o then_o a_o cruel_a judge_n as_o it_o have_v be_v hitherto_o preach_v of_o he_o neither_o have_v he_o be_v otherwise_o set_v forth_o as_o he_o be_v also_o wont_a to_o be_v unto_o such_o not_o of_o his_o own_o nature_n for_o in_o deed_n he_o be_v most_o gracious_a and_o comfortable_a but_o because_o they_o esteem_v he_o for_o no_o other_o in_o their_o heart_n behold_v this_o man_n be_v a_o hindrance_n unto_o himself_o that_o he_o can_v not_o obtain_v any_o grace_n for_o he_o know_v no_o difference_n of_o the_o judgement_n seat_n and_o the_o mercy_n seat_n yea_o he_o be_v altogether_o ignorant_a whether_o there_o be_v a_o mercy_n seat_n from_o which_o he_o so_o err_v and_o must_v be_v bind_v to_o the_o judgement_n seat_n but_o we_o teach_v thus_o of_o how_o christ_n must_v be_v learned_a and_o consider_v of_o that_o christ_n be_v so_o to_o be_v learned_a and_o consider_v that_o we_o be_v most_o certain_o persuade_v that_o he_o sit_v before_o miserable_a and_o tremble_a conscience_n that_o believe_v in_o he_o not_o as_o a_o angry_a judge_n which_o command_v forthwith_o to_o carry_v violent_o they_o that_o be_v guilty_a unto_o punishment_n but_o as_o a_o gentle_a love_a and_o comfortable_a mediator_n between_o my_o fearful_a conscience_n and_o god_n which_o say_v unto_o i_o if_o thou_o be_v a_o sinner_n and_o astonish_v and_o the_o devil_n labour_v to_o draw_v thou_o to_o the_o judgement_n seat_n then_o see_v that_o thou_o fly_v unto_o i_o and_o fear_v no_o wrath_n or_o anger_n wherefore_o even_o because_o i_o sit_v here_o that_o if_o thou_o believe_v in_o i_o i_o may_v make_v intercession_n for_o thou_o to_o my_o father_n that_o no_o anger_n and_o severity_n may_v hurt_v thou_o for_o all_o anger_n and_o punishment_n shall_v be_v soon_o lay_v upon_o i_o then_o be_v bear_v of_o thou_o howbeit_o that_o can_v not_o be_v for_o he_o be_v the_o only_o belove_a son_n in_o who_o all_o grace_n and_o favour_n dwell_v who_o as_o often_o as_o the_o father_n do_v behold_v he_o can_v not_o but_o replenish_v own_o holiness_n and_o pureness_n but_o for_o christ_n sake_n to_o who_o we_o cleave_v by_o faith_n as_o to_o our_o mercy_n seat_n be_v assure_o persuade_v that_o with_o he_o there_o remain_v no_o anger_n but_o mere_a love_n and_o pardon_n and_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n thus_o the_o heart_n be_v purify_v before_o god_n and_o the_o conscience_n make_v good_a and_o quiet_a not_o in_o respect_n have_v of_o my_o own_o pureness_n of_o life_n lead_v before_o the_o world_n but_o by_o trust_n and_o confidence_n of_o that_o excellent_a treasure_n which_o my_o heart_n apprehend_v which_o be_v unto_o i_o in_o steed_n of_o a_o pledge_n and_o fullness_n when_o as_o before_o god_n i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o pay_v feign_a we_o must_v especial_o take_v heed_n that_o our_o faith_n be_v not_o false_a or_o feign_a but_o herein_o the_o whole_a force_n of_o the_o matter_n consist_v that_o we_o do_v again_o and_o again_o take_v heed_n that_o our_o faith_n be_v not_o false_a or_o as_o paul_n speak_v feign_v for_o if_o this_o err_v and_o deceive_v we_o all_o thing_n deceive_v us._n for_o there_o have_v be_v many_o in_o all_o age_n as_o there_o be_v also_o at_o this_o day_n which_o can_v speak_v many_o thing_n of_o faith_n and_o will_v be_v master_n not_o only_o of_o the_o law_n but_o even_o of_o the_o gospel_n also_o who_o say_v the_o same_o that_o we_o do_v that_o faith_n perform_v &_o do_v all_o thing_n but_o that_o the_o law_n and_o good_a work_n be_v also_o to_o be_v join_v unto_o it_o and_o that_o otherwise_o if_o these_o be_v not_o add_v faith_n avail_v nothing_o in_o which_o word_n they_o mix_v &_o mingle_v together_o our_o life_n &_o work_n and_o christ_n but_o this_o be_v not_o pure_o and_o sincere_o to_o have_v teach_v faith_n but_o to_o have_v colour_v defile_v and_o corrupt_a faith_n so_o that_o it_o can_v no_o more_o be_v call_v faith_n but_o a_o feign_a colour_n &_o counterfect_v of_o faith_n the_o trust_n and_o confidence_n of_o the_o heart_n stand_v not_o pure_o towards_o christ_n as_o the_o only_a mercy_n seat_n but_o be_v ground_v upon_o our_o one_o holiness_n as_o be_v able_a to_o stand_v before_o the_o judgement_n seat_n wherefore_o do_v thus_o we_o be_v most_o right_o cast_v of_o before_o god_n and_o condemn_v unto_o destruction_n whereof_o we_o be_v most_o worthy_a for_o if_o faith_n must_v be_v pure_a and_o void_a of_o all_o counterfect_a and_o feign_v
that_o his_o kingdom_n be_v set_v in_o the_o mid_n of_o the_o fight_n yea_o and_o in_o the_o mid_n of_o the_o hater_n thereof_o these_o thing_n be_v write_v for_o our_o comfort_n that_o we_o which_o mind_n to_o serve_v under_o the_o prince_n of_o this_o kingdom_n be_v so_o instruct_v that_o we_o look_v for_o no_o other_o than_o be_v here_o prescribe_v and_o set_v forth_o unto_o we_o world_n the_o godly_a must_v look_v for_o no_o peace_n or_o quietness_n in_o the_o world_n that_o we_o seek_v not_o here_o to_o get_v unto_o we_o the_o favour_n of_o the_o world_n neither_o that_o we_o serve_v the_o world_n and_o labour_n to_o have_v no_o enemy_n therein_o for_o the_o word_n of_o zacharias_n declare_v that_o it_o be_v the_o quality_n of_o this_o kingdom_n to_o deliver_v from_o enemy_n now_o kingdom_n as_o be_v subject_a to_o the_o hatred_n and_o malice_n of_o the_o world_n as_o you_o see_v at_o this_o day_n that_o our_o enemy_n bear_v a_o deadly_a hatred_n unto_o the_o light_n which_o have_v a_o little_a shine_v forth_o thanks_n be_v to_o christ_n therefore_o no_o man_n be_v any_o where_o so_o hate_v as_o a_o christian_a both_o the_o pope_n and_o the_o furious_a bishop_n with_o their_o false_a apostle_n also_o the_o rage_a prince_n moreover_o the_o holy_a learned_a and_o wise_a of_o the_o world_n all_o at_o this_o day_n do_v most_o bitter_o hate_v christian_n neither_o be_v they_o content_a that_o they_o be_v kill_v &_o slay_v but_o they_o will_v have_v they_o extinguish_v and_o utter_o root_v out_o that_o there_o may_v be_v no_o memory_n of_o they_o as_o they_o think_v leave_v among_o man_n and_o this_o be_v the_o state_n these_o be_v the_o badge_n and_o cognisance_n of_o christian_n that_o when_o satan_n by_o his_o minister_n persecute_v we_o he_o think_v quite_o to_o root_v we_o out_o this_o verse_n also_o give_v we_o to_o understand_v that_o christ_n be_v our_o king_n that_o he_o may_v save_v and_o deliver_v we_o out_o of_o the_o hand_n of_o our_o enemy_n which_o he_o notable_o perform_v and_o show_v his_o power_n in_o the_o mid_n of_o the_o world_n in_o the_o mid_n of_o the_o force_n of_o flesh_n and_o satan_n when_o as_o peace_n and_o quietness_n be_v not_o where_o leave_v to_o a_o christian_a but_o in_o his_o christ_n alone_o this_o also_o we_o must_v mark_v that_o there_o be_v not_o one_o but_o many_o which_o assail_v &_o persecute_v christian_n but_o yet_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o therefore_o be_v destroy_v forasmuch_o as_o we_o have_v one_o which_o be_v strong_a both_o than_o the_o world_n and_o the_o prince_n thereof_o as_o john_n say_v now_o whereas_o he_o promise_v we_o we_o know_v certain_o that_o he_o both_o will_v and_o be_v able_a to_o perform_v we_o shall_v in_o deed_n feel_v the_o assault_n but_o he_o will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o be_v destroy_v or_o overcome_v so_o that_o we_o hope_v and_o trust_v in_o he_o it_o follow_v moreover_o verse_n 72._o that_o he_o may_v show_v mercy_n towards_o our_o father_n be_v the_o manner_n of_o the_o apostle_n also_o that_o they_o often_o time_n have_v recourse_n to_o the_o old_a testament_n as_o i_o have_v say_v before_o that_o god_n speak_v and_o promise_v by_o the_o mouth_n of_o the_o prophet_n etc._n etc._n even_o as_o zacharias_n do_v in_o this_o place_n objection_n a_o objection_n some_o man_n may_v now_o say_v they_o be_v dead_a how_o therefore_o will_v he_o show_v mercy_n unto_o they_o again_o what_o need_n be_v there_o to_o rehearse_v that_o he_o will_v show_v mercy_n to_o the_o father_n when_o as_o it_o be_v declare_v in_o the_o prophet_n but_o this_o be_v therefore_o do_v answer_n the_o answer_n that_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n may_v be_v show_v forth_o and_o may_v be_v also_o approve_v unto_o we_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v ignorant_a that_o those_o thing_n be_v not_o due_a to_o our_o merit_n in_o the_o first_o book_n of_o moses_n be_v mention_v how_o god_n promise_v to_o abraham_n 22.18_o gen._n 22.18_o that_o in_o his_o seed_n all_o thing_n go_v backward_o notwithstanding_o howsoever_o it_o be_v delay_v and_o seem_v yet_o it_o be_v fulfil_v and_o perform_v whatsoever_o be_v promise_v to_o abraham_n and_o god_n have_v not_o only_o deliver_v he_o from_o his_o enemy_n but_o have_v bestow_v upon_o he_o all_o good_a thing_n yea_o have_v give_v himself_o unto_o he_o and_o all_o that_o he_o have_v and_o all_o this_o be_v certain_a thousand_o of_o year_n before_o i_o be_v bear_v that_o thou_o will_v do_v it_o who_o do_v then_o desire_v he_o that_o he_o will_v give_v we_o those_o thing_n when_o he_o have_v determine_v thereof_o and_o here_o the_o mouth_n of_o every_o one_o be_v stop_v so_o at_o this_o day_n also_o none_o of_o we_o unto_o who_o thanks_n be_v to_o god_n the_o gospel_n have_v shine_v can_v glory_v that_o we_o obtain_v it_o by_o our_o own_o mean_n labour_n endeavour_n or_o good_a conversation_n for_o those_o which_o be_v count_v the_o best_a work_n and_o the_o most_o excellent_a study_n be_v disallow_v and_o overthrow_v as_o to_o celebrate_v mass_n to_o join_v himself_o to_o this_o or_o that_o hypocritical_a sect_n which_o they_o call_v a_o order_n etc._n etc._n these_o the_o gospel_n condemn_v and_o reject_v and_o how_o can_v i_o attain_v to_o the_o gospel_n by_o that_o which_o it_o reject_v wherefore_o this_o stand_v sure_a and_o certain_a that_o all_o that_o we_o have_v be_v of_o the_o mere_a grace_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n so_o that_o with_o his_o honour_n and_o praise_n we_o may_v confess_v that_o we_o have_v deserve_v far_o otherwise_o namely_o hell_n fire_n if_o hold_v no_o water_n they_o forsake_v god_n the_o fountain_n of_o life_n afterward_o he_o say_v they_o dare_v rise_v against_o i_o that_o i_o shall_v not_o be_v angry_a with_o they_o allege_v that_o be_v i_o that_o quicken_v he_o that_o believe_v in_o i_o shall_v not_o dye_v this_o as_o i_o say_v before_o be_v to_o teach_v the_o gospel_n right_o that_o be_v to_o show_v the_o true_a and_o right_a way_n which_o lead_v unto_o eternal_a life_n when_o the_o disciple_n know_v not_o the_o way_n that_o lead_v unto_o glory_n the_o lord_n make_v no_o delay_n affirm_v unto_o they_o that_o he_o be_v that_o way_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v if_o you_o desire_v to_o know_v the_o way_n to_o glory_n seek_v not_o the_o strength_n light_n and_o righteousness_n of_o creature_n but_o look_v unto_o i_o for_o i_o be_o the_o way_n the_o truth_n and_o the_o life_n although_o i_o must_v be_v put_v to_o death_n although_o i_o be_o vile_a and_o of_o no_o reputation_n according_a to_o the_o outward_a appearance_n neither_o let_v this_o offend_v you_o that_o they_o which_o be_v i_o be_v subject_a to_o persecution_n the_o right_a way_n to_o the_o father_n be_v find_v in_o i_o let_v none_o remove_v you_o from_o this_o persuasion_n therefore_o he_o say_v moreover_o no_o man_n come_v unto_o the_o father_n but_o by_o i_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v no_o man_n can_v come_v to_o the_o father_n by_o his_o own_o strength_n or_o merit_n the_o law_n terrifi_v the_o conscience_n that_o it_o can_v not_o go_v to_o the_o father_n the_o word_n of_o christ_n which_o justifi_v we_o by_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n bring_v we_o to_o the_o father_n whereupon_o follow_v that_o which_o he_o afterward_o say_v if_o you_o have_v know_v i_o you_o shall_v have_v know_v my_o father_n also_o for_o as_o no_o man_n come_v to_o the_o father_n but_o by_o the_o son_n so_o no_o man_n know_v the_o father_n but_o by_o christ_n the_o son_n first_o the_o father_n will_n be_v not_o know_v to_o wit_n that_o he_o will_v save_v we_o unless_o we_o see_v it_o in_o christ_n he_z which_o be_v in_o the_o bosom_n of_o the_o father_n have_v reveal_v it_o unto_o us._n second_o the_o father_n be_v not_o believe_v for_o reason_n by_o itself_o do_v not_o understand_v that_o it_o receive_v any_o thing_n of_o god_n wherefore_o it_o be_v needful_a that_o christ_n declare_v that_o bountifulness_n and_o goodness_n unto_o us._n a_o trouble_a conscience_n fly_v the_o father_n neither_o can_v it_o abide_v to_o commit_v itself_o unto_o he_o but_o they_o that_o be_v justify_v by_o the_o word_n of_o christ_n do_v not_o any_o more_o contemn_v the_o father_n neither_o fly_v he_o as_o the_o israelite_n do_v but_o stand_v before_o he_o as_o moses_n and_o be_v enlighten_v with_o divine_a light_n that_o they_o may_v know_v the_o power_n of_o god_n and_o mercy_n of_o the_o father_n hereupon_o come_v trust_n and_o confidence_n in_o he_o hereby_o we_o know_v that_o we_o receive_v all_o thing_n at_o his_o hand_n and_o look_v for_o all_o as_o well_o spiritual_a as_o corporal_a thing_n of_o he_o all_o these_o we_o must_v acknowledge_v to_o be_v receive_v by_o faith_n reason_n can_v not_o attain_v unto_o they_o for_o it_o endevour_v to_o obtain_v god_n by_o she_o own_o strength_n and_o merit_n but_o that_o endeavour_n be_v in_o vain_a wherefore_o when_o it_o be_v not_o able_a to_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n by_o she_o own_o strength_n it_o utter_o deni_v god_n and_o say_v that_o there_o be_v no_o god_n after_o when_o it_o see_v uncleanness_n in_o her_o work_n it_o despeir_v and_o be_v in_o most_o great_a distress_n but_o when_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o foolish_a preach_n we_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n the_o father_n as_o soon_o as_o we_o believe_v the_o word_n of_o christ_n and_o so_o we_o try_v the_o power_n of_o the_o father_n in_o affliction_n and_o adversity_n although_o they_o be_v even_o great_a this_o be_v shadow_v forth_o in_o that_o that_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n can_v not_o abide_v to_o hear_v the_o voice_n of_o god_n but_o desire_v that_o moses_n may_v speak_v unto_o they_o where_o christ_n also_o be_v figure_v that_o he_o shall_v make_v intercession_n for_o we_o to_o the_o father_n and_o be_v our_o mercy_n seat_n for_o nature_n be_v more_o weak_a &_o frail_a then_o that_o it_o can_v abide_v to_o talk_v with_o god_n wherefore_o he_o have_v give_v unto_o we_o this_o his_o son_n a_o mediator_n in_o who_o and_o by_o who_o we_o must_v have_v to_o do_v with_o he_o when_o as_o the_o lord_n so_o love_o and_o gentle_o deal_v with_o thomas_n and_z sheweth_z unto_o he_o how_o he_o must_v come_v to_o the_o father_n to_o wit_n by_o the_o son_n and_o that_o the_o
