their_o say_a act_n and_o ordinance_n hereafter_o mention_v and_o by_o they_o so_o to_o we_o exhibit_v will_v examine_v and_o those_o and_o every_o of_o they_o correct_v and_o amend_v and_o so_o approve_v they_o in_o due_a and_o convenient_a manner_n and_o form_n as_o the_o say_v recite_v act_n of_o parliament_n require_v we_o well_o perceive_v and_o consider_v the_o say_a supplication_n to_o be_v good_a and_o reasonable_a according_a to_o their_o desire_n and_o by_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o say_a act_n of_o parliament_n to_o we_o give_v all_z and_o every_o their_o act_n and_o it_o be_v ordain_v that_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n and_o their_o surcessor_n for_o ever_o shall_v and_o may_v from_o time_n to_o time_n and_o at_o all_o time_n hereafter_o by_o the_o appointment_n of_o the_o master_n or_o in_o his_o absence_n of_o the_o warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o the_o time_n be_v assemble_v themselves_o together_o as_o heretofore_o have_v be_v usual_a and_o keep_v court_n at_o their_o common_a hall_n or_o other_o convenient_a place_n of_o meet_v within_o the_o city_n of_o london_n or_o liberties_n thereof_o for_o such_o affair_n of_o the_o say_a company_n as_o have_v be_v usual_o at_o such_o court_n do_v and_o dispatch_v wherein_o care_n shall_v be_v take_v as_o well_o for_o the_o better_a order_v rule_v and_o govern_v of_o the_o say_a society_n and_o the_o member_n thereof_o as_o also_o for_o the_o correction_n redress_n and_o reformation_n of_o such_o abuse_n and_o disorder_n which_o may_v happen_v in_o the_o say_a society_n among_o any_o the_o member_n thereof_o and_o shall_v and_o may_v there_o also_o admit_v apprentice_n to_o their_o respective_a member_n according_a to_o the_o usage_n of_o the_o say_a society_n and_o law_n and_o statute_n of_o this_o kingdom_n and_o may_v also_o then_o make_v free_a of_o the_o say_a society_n such_o as_o have_v serve_v their_o apprenticeship_n or_o such_o as_o shall_v be_v otherwise_o think_v fit_a to_o be_v admit_v freeman_n thereof_o as_o by_o the_o ancient_a usage_n of_o this_o company_n have_v be_v do_v and_o practise_v and_o may_v also_o at_o such_o court_n debate_n and_o determine_v all_o and_o every_o other_o lawful_a act_n and_o act_n thing_n and_o thing_n which_o shall_v at_o any_o time_n or_o time_n appear_v to_o the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o great_a number_n of_o they_o there_o meet_v together_o fit_a and_o convenient_a touch_v or_o concern_v the_o state_n or_o government_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o any_o thing_n relate_v thereunto_o which_o say_v court_n or_o assembly_n shall_v be_v call_v court_n of_o assistant_n and_o to_o which_o court_n or_o assembly_n to_o be_v hold_v in_o manner_n aforesaid_a the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n shall_v come_v in_o their_o gown_n and_o other_o decent_a apparel_n and_o the_o say_a assistant_n shall_v not_o depart_v from_o thence_o without_o the_o leave_n of_o the_o master_n or_o one_o of_o the_o warden_n first_o have_v and_o that_o every_o person_n be_v a_o member_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v upon_o summons_n by_o the_o beadle_n or_o other_o person_n for_o that_o purpose_n appoint_v repair_v to_o every_o such_o court_n or_o assembly_n to_o be_v hold_v by_o the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o at_o such_o hour_n and_o time_n as_o he_o or_o they_o shall_v be_v appoint_v and_o shall_v not_o depart_v thence_o without_o the_o leave_n of_o the_o master_n or_o one_o of_o the_o warden_n first_o have_v upon_o pain_n that_o every_o person_n so_o neglect_v or_o disobey_v not_o have_v a_o sufficient_a excuse_n to_o be_v allow_v by_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n the_o sum_n of_o one_o shilling_n it_o be_v also_o ordain_v that_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v and_o may_v yearly_o and_o every_o year_n from_o henceforth_o hold_v and_o keep_v four_o quarter_n court_n or_o assembly_n to_o wit_n one_o in_o each_o quarter_n at_o such_o time_n and_o place_n within_o the_o city_n of_o london_n aforesaid_a or_o liberty_n thereof_o as_o the_o say_a master_n or_o warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v appoint_v to_o which_o say_v court_n or_o assembly_n the_o say_a master_n or_o warden_n may_v cause_v to_o be_v summon_v by_o their_o beadle_n or_o other_o person_n appoint_v for_o that_o purpose_n all_o the_o member_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o so_o many_o of_o they_o as_o to_o the_o say_a master_n or_o warden_n shall_v be_v think_v fit_a every_o of_o which_o member_n be_v so_o summon_v shall_v according_o appear_v at_o every_o such_o court_n at_o all_o which_o time_n all_o the_o order_n and_o ordinance_n
of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o so_o many_o of_o they_o as_o shall_v be_v hold_v necessary_a shall_v be_v then_o and_o there_o distinct_o read_v and_o publish_v before_o the_o member_n of_o the_o say_a society_n who_o shall_v be_v there_o assemble_v the_o better_a to_o acquaint_v they_o with_o the_o same_o and_o that_o they_o may_v also_o be_v put_v in_o mind_n of_o keep_v the_o same_o according_a to_o the_o tenor_n of_o their_o oath_n take_v at_o their_o admittance_n into_o the_o freedom_n of_o the_o say_a society_n and_o also_o that_o all_o person_n who_o be_v concern_v to_o obey_v the_o same_o may_v be_v leave_v whole_o inexcusable_a for_o any_o disobedience_n thereunto_o at_o which_o say_v quarter_n court_n or_o assembly_n every_o member_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v pay_v to_o the_o renter_n warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o such_o other_o person_n to_o be_v by_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o at_o any_o court_n of_o assistant_n appoint_v for_o that_o purpose_n to_o demand_v and_o receive_v the_o same_o his_o or_o their_o quarteridge-money_n which_o shall_v be_v due_a and_o payable_a to_o the_o say_a society_n by_o he_o or_o they_o according_a to_o the_o rate_n or_o proportion_n follow_v viz._n the_o master_n each_o warden_n and_o every_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v pay_v the_o sum_n of_o two_o shilling_n eight_o penny_n yearly_a by_o eight_o penny_n a_o quarter_n every_o person_n which_o be_v of_o the_o livery_n or_o clothing_n of_o the_o say_a company_n shall_v pay_v the_o sum_n of_o two_o shilling_n yearly_a by_o six_o penny_n a_o quarter_n and_o every_o person_n of_o the_o yeomanry_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v pay_v the_o sum_n of_o one_o shilling_n and_o four_o penny_n yearly_a by_o four_o penny_n every_o quarter_n for_o ever_o towards_o the_o support_n and_o maintenance_n of_o the_o say_a society_n and_o every_o person_n so_o refuse_v or_o delay_v to_o pay_v the_o same_o quarterly_o upon_o demand_n as_o aforesaid_a shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v to_o the_o say_a master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n for_o every_o such_o default_n the_o several_a rate_n follow_v viz._n every_o assistant_n the_o sum_n of_o eight_o penny_n beside_o his_o quarterage_n every_o livery-man_n six_o penny_n beside_o his_o quarterage_n and_o every_o one_o of_o the_o yeomanry_n four_o penny_n beside_o his_o quarterage_n and_o for_o the_o better_a avoid_v of_o disorder_n noise_n and_o confusion_n in_o all_o court_n of_o assistant_n or_o assembly_n as_o aforesaid_a it_o be_v ordain_v that_o every_o member_n of_o the_o say_a court_n shall_v always_o keep_v silence_n at_o the_o command_n or_o desire_v of_o the_o master_n or_o warden_n and_o when_o any_o matter_n or_o thing_n shall_v be_v move_v or_o debate_v in_o any_o court_n of_o assistant_n or_o assembly_n as_o aforesaid_a there_o shall_v but_o one_o person_n speak_v at_o one_o time_n to_o the_o matter_n in_o debate_n and_o all_o debate_n proposition_n and_o discourse_n shall_v be_v address_v to_o the_o master_n or_o in_o his_o absence_n to_o he_o who_o shall_v possess_v the_o chair_n only_o which_o person_n to_o supply_v the_o place_n of_o master_n in_o his_o absence_n shall_v be_v choose_v by_o the_o major_a part_n of_o the_o member_n be_v of_o the_o court_n of_o assistant_n there_o present_a that_o so_o the_o opinion_n and_o judgement_n of_o every_o member_n may_v be_v hear_v and_o know_v and_o also_o that_o every_o person_n shall_v speak_v bareheaded_a and_o that_o every_o person_n except_o the_o master_n or_o that_o person_n who_o in_o his_o absence_n shall_v possess_v the_o chair_n who_o shall_v at_o any_o time_n speak_v as_o aforesaid_a shall_v address_v his_o discourse_n to_o the_o master_n or_o he_o who_o shall_v in_o his_o absence_n mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n aforesaid_a the_o sum_n of_o one_o shilling_n it_o be_v likewise_o ordain_v that_o the_o full_a and_o absolute_a power_n of_o nomination_n and_o election_n of_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n member_n of_o the_o livery_n and_o of_o all_o other_o officer_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v always_o be_v and_o remain_v as_o usual_o heretofore_o have_v be_v only_o in_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n or_o court_n of_o assistant_n assemble_v in_o which_o nomination_n and_o choice_n they_o shall_v observe_v the_o ancient_a way_n time_n and_o method_n of_o nomination_n and_o election_n which_o have_v heretofore_o be_v observe_v and_o use_v in_o the_o say_a society_n and_o it_o be_v further_a ordain_v that_o the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n or_o court_n of_o assistant_n assemble_v yearly_a and_o every_o year_n according_a to_o their_o ancient_a usage_n and_o at_o their_o usual_a time_n shall_v elect_a and_o choose_v one_o discreet_a honest_a and_o able_a person_n be_v a_o member_n of_o the_o say_a court_n of_o assistant_n to_o be_v master_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o one_o year_n than_o next_o follow_v which_o person_n so_o elect_v shall_v forthwith_o accept_v the_o office_n of_o master_n of_o the_o say_a society_n and_o take_v the_o oath_n hereafter_o in_o these_o present_n for_o that_o purpose_n appoint_v and_o shall_v hear_v the_o same_o charge_n and_o perform_v the_o same_o duty_n as_o other_o master_n before_o he_o have_v heretofore_o usual_o do_v and_o shall_v continue_v therein_o for_o one_o whole_a year_n and_o penalty_n incur_v for_o refusal_n also_o it_o be_v ordain_v that_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o shall_v according_a to_o their_o ancient_a usage_n at_o such_o court_n of_o assistant_n to_o be_v hold_v at_o the_o say_v usual_a time_n elect_a and_o choose_v one_o of_o the_o member_n of_o the_o say_a society_n be_v qualify_v as_o aforesaid_a to_o be_v first_o or_o upper_a warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o one_o whole_a year_n from_o thence_o next_o ensue_v which_o person_n so_o elect_v shall_v forthwith_o accept_v of_o the_o say_a may_v excuse_v he_o from_o serve_v in_o the_o say_a office_n upon_o payment_n of_o a_o more_o moderate_a fine_a to_o be_v by_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n impose_v not_o under_o twelve_o pound_n and_o that_o then_o the_o master_n remain_v warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n shall_v forthwith_o upon_o such_o refusal_n elect_v in_o manner_n and_o form_n aforesaid_a one_o other_o fit_a person_n to_o be_v first_o or_o vpper-warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n instead_o of_o the_o person_n so_o refuse_v and_o for_o such_o time_n as_o he_o shall_v have_v serve_v first_o or_o vpper-warden_n by_o such_o election_n if_o he_o have_v not_o refuse_v and_o until_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o first_o or_o vpper-warden_n choose_v who_o shall_v take_v upon_o he_o the_o execution_n of_o the_o say_a office_n and_o take_v the_o say_a oath_n the_o same_o method_n shall_v be_v observe_v and_o penalty_n incur_v upon_o every_o such_o refusal_n and_o it_o be_v likewise_o ordain_v that_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o according_a to_o their_o ancient_a usage_n at_o such_o court_n of_o assistant_n to_o be_v hold_v at_o such_o usual_a time_n shall_v elect_a and_o choose_v one_o other_o member_n of_o the_o say_a society_n be_v qualify_v as_o aforesaid_a to_o be_v second_o or_o vnder-warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o one_o whole_a year_n from_o thence_o next_o ensue_v which_o person_n so_o elect_v shall_v forthwith_o accept_v the_o say_a office_n and_o take_v the_o oath_n hereafter_o in_o these_o present_n for_o that_o purpose_n appoint_v and_o shall_v continue_v therein_o for_o one_o whole_a year_n and_o until_o some_o one_o second_o or_o vnder-warden_n shall_v be_v elect_v and_o swear_v in_o his_o place_n and_o shall_v bear_v a_o equal_a part_n with_o his_o vpper-warden_n in_o the_o make_n of_o a_o election-dinner_n for_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n and_o livery_n according_a to_o the_o ancient_a custom_n of_o this_o company_n this_o company_n make_v to_o he_o and_o his_o vpper-warden_n the_o same_o allowance_n which_o have_v be_v usual_o make_v to_o other_o warden_n upon_o the_o same_o occasion_n and_o in_o case_n of_o the_o death_n or_o removal_n of_o such_o second_o or_o vnder-warden_n the_o master_n remain_v warden_n aâ—d_a assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o may_v forthwith_o procee_v to_o a_o new_a election_n in_o manner_n and_o form_n aforesaid_a according_a to_o the_o custom_n of_o the_o say_a society_n of_o some_o fit_a person_n be_v of_o the_o say_a court_n of_o assistant_n to_o serve_v in_o the_o place_n or_o office_n of_o second_o or_o vnder-warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o the_o remainder_n of_o the_o time_n which_o the_o decease_a or_o remove_v second_o or_o vnder-warden_n ought_v to_o have_v serve_v and_o if_o any_o person_n choose_v as_o aforesaid_a to_o be_v second_o or_o vnder-warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v refuse_v to_o accept_v the_o say_a office_n and_o to_o take_v the_o oath_n in_o manner_n aforesaid_a have_v no_o reasonable_a as_o aforesaid_a have_v not_o serve_v second_o or_o under-warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n before_o yet_o if_o he_o shall_v make_v his_o application_n to_o the_o court_n of_o assistant_n the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n if_o they_o shall_v think_v fit_a may_v excuse_v he_o from_o serve_v in_o the_o say_a office_n upon_o payment_n of_o a_o small_a sum_n of_o money_n than_o the_o say_v twenty_o pound_n so_o as_o it_o be_v not_o under_o ten_o pound_n and_o that_o then_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n shall_v forthwith_o upon_o such_o refusal_n elect_v in_o manner_n and_o form_n aforesaid_a one_o other_o fit_a person_n to_o be_v second_o or_o under-warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n instead_o of_o the_o person_n so_o refuse_v and_o for_o such_o time_n as_o
he_o shall_v have_v serve_v second_o or_o under-warden_n by_o such_o election_n if_o he_o have_v not_o refuse_v and_o until_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o second_o or_o under-warden_n choose_v who_o shall_v take_v upon_o he_o the_o execution_n of_o the_o say_a office_n and_o take_v the_o say_a oath_n the_o same_o method_n shall_v be_v observe_v and_o penalty_n incur_v upon_o every_o such_o the_o say_a society_n who_o have_v pay_v their_o fine_n for_o not_o serve_v or_o else_o have_v serve_v according_a to_o the_o custom_n of_o the_o say_a society_n in_o the_o office_n or_o place_n of_o renter-warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n as_o they_o or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o shall_v think_v fit_a to_o be_v assistant_n to_o the_o say_a master_n and_o warden_n and_o of_o common_a council_n of_o the_o say_a society_n and_o that_o every_o person_n and_o person_n so_o choose_v as_o aforesaid_a shall_v before_o he_o or_o they_o take_v upon_o he_o or_o they_o his_o office_n or_o place_n of_o a_o assistant_n as_o aforesaid_a or_o sit_v in_o any_o court_n of_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n take_v a_o oath_n before_o the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o which_o oath_n be_v to_o be_v administer_v in_o a_o court_n of_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o according_a to_o the_o form_n for_o that_o purpose_n hereafter_o appoint_v every_o which_o say_v person_n or_o person_n so_o choose_v to_o be_v a_o assistant_n as_o aforesaid_a shall_v after_o his_o be_v swear_v as_o aforesaid_a pay_v to_o the_o clerk_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o administer_a the_o oath_n and_o register_n his_o name_n the_o usual_a fee_n of_o ten_o shilling_n and_o to_o the_o beadle_n of_o the_o say_a society_n his_o usual_a fee_n of_o five_o shilling_n and_o it_o be_v hereby_o likewise_o ordain_v that_o within_o some_o time_n convenient_a after_o the_o election_n and_o oath_n take_v by_o the_o new_a master_n and_o warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n as_o aforesaid_a not_o exceed_v two_o month_n the_o last_o master_n and_o warden_n and_o every_o of_o they_o shall_v give_v a_o true_a and_o just_a account_n in_o writing_n unto_o such_o person_n as_o shall_v be_v appoint_v by_o the_o then_o master_n warden_n and_o time_n come_v to_o his_o or_o their_o hand_n charge_n or_o custody_n and_o shall_v likewise_o safe_o deliver_v they_o to_o the_o master_n and_o warden_n then_o in_o be_v together_z with_o his_o or_o their_o key_n or_o key_n and_o also_o all_o other_o thing_n whatsoever_o belong_v to_o the_o say_a society_n which_o be_v or_o be_v in_o his_o or_o their_o custody_n and_o not_o account_v for_o upon_o pain_n of_o forfeit_v to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o every_o month_n that_o every_o such_o person_n or_o person_n shall_v neglect_v to_o account_n as_o aforesaid_a or_o detain_v any_o of_o the_o say_a premise_n after_o the_o time_n limit_v hereby_o over_o and_o above_o the_o full_a value_n of_o the_o same_o such_o person_n or_o person_n have_v no_o just_a impediment_n for_o so_o do_v which_o shall_v be_v so_o allow_v by_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n the_o sum_n of_o one_o hundred_o pound_n and_o it_o be_v likewise_o ordain_v that_o the_o say_v account_n with_o the_o inventory_n and_o such_o other_o thing_n as_o shall_v be_v so_o deliver_v up_o shall_v immediate_o after_o the_o the_o hall_n or_o such_o other_o place_n as_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n shall_v direct_v and_o to_o which_o there_o shall_v be_v three_o several_a lock_n and_o key_n the_o custody_n of_o one_o of_o which_o say_v key_n shall_v be_v in_o the_o master_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o the_o time_n be_v the_o custody_n of_o another_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o first_o or_o upper_a warden_n for_o the_o time_n be_v and_o the_o custody_n of_o the_o three_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o second_o or_o under_o warden_n for_o the_o time_n be_v during_o their_o respective_a office_n and_o until_o their_o account_n shall_v be_v audit_v only_o and_o if_o it_o shall_v happen_v the_o say_a master_n or_o either_o of_o the_o say_a warden_n to_o be_v sick_a or_o travail_v out_o of_o the_o say_a city_n or_o shall_v absent_v himself_o for_o fourteen_o day_n that_o then_o in_o such_o case_n every_o such_o master_n and_o warden_n respective_o shall_v leave_v he_o or_o their_o key_n or_o key_n with_o some_o other_o honest_a and_o able_a person_n or_o person_n be_v one_o of_o the_o say_a assistant_n so_o that_o the_o say_v company_n affair_n may_v not_o suffer_v prejudice_n by_o want_n thereof_o upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v for_o every_o such_o default_n to_o the_o say_a master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n aforesaid_a the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n also_o it_o be_v further_o ordain_v that_o no_o lease_n demise_n annuity_n grant_n gift_n or_o bargain_n and_o sales_n of_o what_o nature_n or_o kind_n soever_o of_o any_o house_n or_o house_n land_n tenement_n or_o other_o thing_n or_o thing_n whatsoever_o appertain_v to_o the_o say_a society_n nor_o any_o obligation_n bill_n or_o specialty_n whatsoever_o shall_v at_o any_o time_n be_v grant_v by_o or_o pass_v under_o the_o common_a seal_n of_o the_o say_a society_n unless_o the_o same_o be_v order_v so_o to_o be_v by_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n upon_o pain_n that_o the_o master_n and_o each_o warden_n which_o shall_v be_v master_n or_o warden_n at_o the_o time_n of_o such_o offence_n offend_v contrary_a to_o this_o ordinance_n shall_v forthwith_o be_v disfranchise_v and_o pay_v each_o of_o they_o for_o such_o their_o offence_n to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n aforesaid_a over_o and_o above_o the_o damage_n which_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v receive_v for_o such_o their_o offence_n the_o sum_n of_o one_o hundred_o pound_n a_o piece_n and_o also_o it_o be_v ordain_v that_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n when_o and_o as_o often_o as_o they_o shall_v think_v fit_a may_v elect_n choose_v and_o admit_v into_o the_o livery_n or_o clothing_n of_o the_o say_a society_n such_o person_n and_o person_n free_a of_o the_o say_a society_n as_o they_o shall_v think_v fit_a and_o that_o after_o election_n of_o any_o person_n into_o the_o livery_n or_o clothing_n aforesaid_a the_o master_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v cause_v the_o beadle_n of_o the_o say_a society_n to_o put_v upon_o he_o so_o elect_v a_o livery_n gown_n after_o the_o manner_n heretofore_o accustom_v in_o the_o say_a society_n and_o then_o the_o say_a master_n shall_v put_v upon_o his_o shoulder_n a_o particoloured_a hood_n make_v after_o the_o usual_a manner_n after_o
which_o the_o say_a master_n and_o warden_n each_o in_o their_o order_n shall_v give_v to_o such_o person_n and_o person_n he_o and_o their_o hand_n say_v these_o word_n videl_n t._o brother_z you_o be_v admit_v to_o the_o clothing_n of_o this_o company_n or_o word_n to_o that_o effect_n and_o that_o every_o person_n which_o shall_v be_v elect_v and_o choose_v of_o the_o livery_n or_o clothing_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v upon_o such_o his_o admission_n into_o the_o livery_n or_o clothing_n as_o aforesaid_a according_a to_o the_o ancient_a usage_n of_o the_o say_a society_n pay_v to_o the_o say_a master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n the_o sum_n of_o twenty_o pound_n for_o a_o fee_n or_o income_n for_o such_o he_o or_o their_o admission_n as_o aforesaid_a and_o to_o the_o clerk_n of_o this_o society_n his_o usual_a fee_n of_o ten_o shilling_n and_o to_o the_o beadle_n of_o this_o society_n his_o usual_a fee_n of_o five_o shilling_n and_o if_o any_o such_o person_n so_o elect_v into_o the_o clothing_n as_o aforesaid_a shall_v refuse_v to_o accept_v thereof_o have_v no_o reasonable_a cause_n and_o to_o be_v so_o allow_v by_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n then_o he_o shall_v pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n for_o such_o refusal_n the_o sum_n of_o forty_o â—_z of_o london_n the_o sum_n of_o one_o shilling_n and_o also_o it_o be_v ordain_v that_o every_o year_n yearly_a in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n to_o be_v hold_v as_o aforesaid_a at_o the_o usual_a time_n the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o then_o present_a may_v elect_a and_o choose_v one_o honest_a discreet_a and_o able_a man_n be_v of_o the_o livery_n of_o the_o say_a society_n who_o shall_v bear_v the_o title_n of_o renter-warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n for_o one_o year_n next_o ensue_v and_o till_o another_o shall_v be_v choose_v and_o swear_v in_o his_o place_n and_o in_o case_n of_o the_o death_n or_o removal_n of_o any_o renter-warden_n the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n and_o shall_v also_o at_o the_o usual_a time_n to_o wit_n within_o one_o month_n after_o some_o other_o person_n shall_v be_v swear_v into_o the_o the_o say_a society_n and_o shall_v speedy_o make_v payment_n of_o what_o shall_v remain_v in_o his_o hand_n due_a upon_o such_o account_n and_o deliver_v his_o book_n and_o all_o other_o paper_n or_o thing_n whatsoever_o which_o may_v concern_v the_o say_a society_n to_o the_o master_n and_o warden_n or_o such_o other_o person_n or_o person_n as_o the_o master_n and_o warden_n shall_v appoint_v upon_o pain_n that_o every_o person_n offend_v against_o this_o ordinance_n shall_v pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n for_o every_o month_n time_n that_o he_o shall_v after_o request_n or_o summons_n in_o that_o behalf_n make_v refuse_v or_o delay_n to_o make_v such_o account_n the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n and_o for_o every_o month_n time_n after_o such_o account_n state_v that_o the_o money_n which_o shall_v be_v due_a upon_o the_o foot_n of_o such_o account_n to_o the_o say_a master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n or_o any_o part_n thereof_o shall_v remain_v unpaid_a the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n he_o have_v no_o reasonable_a impediment_n or_o excuse_v which_o shall_v be_v so_o allow_v by_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n for_o his_o failor_n therein_o and_o further_o it_o be_v likewise_o ordain_v that_o after_o the_o election_n of_o the_o renter-warden_n by_o the_o office_n and_o take_v the_o say_a oath_n in_o manner_n aforesaid_a have_v no_o reasonable_a or_o just_a impediment_n or_o excuse_v that_o may_v hinder_v he_o so_o to_o do_v and_o which_o shall_v be_v allow_v by_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n than_o such_o person_n so_o elect_v and_o refuse_v to_o take_v upon_o he_o the_o execution_n of_o the_o say_a office_n shall_v for_o such_o his_o refusal_n forthwith_o pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n the_o sum_n of_o fifty_o pound_n but_o if_o any_o person_n which_o shall_v be_v choose_v renter-warden_n as_o aforesaid_a likewise_o ordain_v that_o every_o person_n who_o shall_v hereafter_o serve_v in_o the_o say_a place_n or_o office_n of_o renter-warden_n to_o the_o say_a society_n according_a to_o the_o ancient_a the_o member_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v at_o any_o time_n hereafter_o revile_v abuse_v or_o defame_v in_o word_n or_o otherwise_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o any_o of_o they_o or_o any_o other_o member_n of_o the_o same_o society_n but_o shall_v at_o all_o time_n well_o demean_v themselves_o and_o be_v of_o good_a behaviour_n and_o civil_a conversation_n both_o in_o word_n and_o deed_n and_o it_o be_v further_o ordain_v that_o if_o any_o person_n of_o the_o court_n of_o assistant_n or_o common_a council_n of_o this_o society_n shall_v infringe_v this_o ordinance_n or_o any_o part_n thereof_o he_o shall_v be_v liable_a to_o be_v expel_v and_o put_v out_o of_o his_o place_n as_o a_o assistant_n or_o one_o of_o the_o common_a council_n of_o the_o say_a society_n and_o after_o such_o expulsion_n shall_v not_o be_v capable_a of_o be_v choose_v again_o until_o he_o or_o they_o shall_v pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n such_o fine_a not_o exceed_v five_o pound_n as_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n shall_v impose_v upon_o he_o or_o they_o for_o such_o he_o or_o their_o offence_n and_o also_o upon_o pain_n that_o every_o other_o member_n of_o the_o say_a society_n offend_v against_o this_o ordinance_n shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n such_o fine_a not_o exceed_v twenty_o shilling_n as_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n shall_v impose_v upon_o he_o or_o they_o for_o such_o he_o or_o their_o offence_n and_o also_o it_o be_v further_o ordain_v that_o if_o any_o person_n be_v a_o member_n of_o this_o society_n be_v of_o the_o court_n of_o assistant_n or_o a_o livery_n man_n of_o the_o say_a society_n when_o command_v by_o the_o master_n and_o warden_n to_o attend_v in_o his_o gown_n and_o hood_n shall_v at_o any_o time_n render_v himself_o disobedient_a to_o the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o any_o of_o they_o or_o shall_v hold_v any_o private_a meeting_n or_o give_v counsel_n to_o or_o confederate_n with_o any_o person_n or_o person_n to_o resist_v or_o oppose_v the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o any_o of_o they_o in_o their_o lawful_a
government_n or_o shall_v do_v any_o act_n or_o thing_n which_o may_v in_o any_o wise_a prejudice_n the_o say_a society_n or_o may_v tend_v to_o the_o breach_n of_o any_o of_o the_o aforesaid_a lawful_a constitution_n and_o ordinance_n then_o every_o person_n so_o offend_v for_o such_o his_o offence_n against_o any_o part_n of_o this_o ordinance_n shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n such_o fine_a not_o exceed_v five_o pound_n as_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n shall_v impose_v upon_o he_o or_o they_o for_o such_o he_o or_o their_o offence_n also_o it_o be_v ordain_v that_o if_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o any_o of_o they_o or_o any_o other_o member_n of_o the_o say_a society_n shall_v at_o any_o time_n hereafter_o reveal_v disclose_v or_o make_v know_v any_o of_o the_o lawful_a secret_n conference_n or_o consultation_n of_o the_o say_a society_n tend_v to_o the_o discredit_n damage_n or_o prejudice_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o any_o of_o the_o governor_n officer_n or_o member_n thereof_o that_o then_o such_o person_n so_o offend_v be_v he_o master_n warden_n or_o one_o of_o the_o assistant_n shall_v be_v exclude_v from_o the_o court_n of_o assistant_n or_o common_a council_n of_o the_o say_a society_n until_o he_o have_v pay_v such_o fine_a not_o exceed_v the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n as_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o court_n shall_v impose_v upon_o he_o or_o they_o for_o such_o he_o or_o their_o offence_n and_o every_o other_o member_n so_o offend_v shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n such_o fine_a not_o exceed_v forty_o shilling_n as_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n shall_v company_n for_o any_o copy_n right_o or_o any_o thing_n relate_v to_o print_n book-selling_a or_o book-binding_a that_o then_o before_o any_o action_n or_o suit_n be_v commence_v they_o shall_v first_o make_v their_o application_n to_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n and_o give_v they_o true_a information_n of_o the_o ground_n and_o occasion_n of_o such_o difference_n or_o controversy_n which_o say_v master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n be_v hereby_o authorize_v to_o hear_v all_o party_n concern_v and_o to_o use_v their_o utmost_a endeavour_n to_o compose_v such_o difference_n and_o difference_n without_o the_o trouble_n and_o charge_n of_o go_v to_o law_n upon_o pain_n that_o every_o member_n that_o shall_v for_o any_o of_o the_o cause_n aforesaid_a commence_v any_o suit_n or_o suit_n without_o application_n make_v as_o aforesaid_a shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n the_o sum_n of_o ten_o pound_n and_o whereas_o since_o the_o make_n of_o the_o late_a act_n of_o parliament_n make_v in_o his_o now_o majesty_n reign_n entitle_v a_o act_n for_o prevent_v the_o frequent_a abuse_n in_o print_v seditious_a treasonable_a and_o unlicensed_a book_n and_o pamphlet_n and_o for_o regulate_v of_o print_v and_o printing-presses_a several_a member_n of_o the_o say_a society_n have_v erect_v press_v contrary_a to_o the_o say_a act_n and_o therewithal_o have_v print_v several_a seditious_a treasonable_a schismatical_a scandalous_a and_o unlicensed_a book_n and_o pamphlet_n to_o the_o great_a scandal_n of_o the_o say_a company_n and_o the_o government_n thereof_o for_o the_o future_a prevention_n whereof_o it_o be_v hereby_o ordain_v that_o no_o member_n of_o this_o company_n shall_v hereafter_o erect_a or_o cause_n to_o be_v erect_v any_o press_n or_o press_n for_o print_v or_o any_o printing-house_n or_o printing-house_n nor_o shall_v know_o demise_n or_o let_n or_o suffer_v to_o be_v hold_v or_o use_v any_o house_n vault_n or_o or_o press_n house_n or_o house_n place_n or_o place_n or_o the_o name_n or_o name_n of_o any_o such_o person_n or_o person_n that_o shall_v erect_v or_o cause_n to_o be_v erect_v or_o contribute_v towards_o the_o erect_n furnish_v supply_v work_v at_o or_o prepare_v work_n for_o any_o such_o private_a press_n or_o press_n or_o shall_v willing_o and_o know_o buy_v barter_n or_o contract_n for_o any_o impression_n or_o part_n of_o any_o impression_n of_o any_o book_n or_o book_n or_o part_n of_o book_n pamphlet_n or_o paper_n or_o know_o bind_v stitch_n put_v together_o for_o sale_n publish_v dispose_n or_o disperse_v any_o book_n pamphlet_n or_o paper_n which_o shall_v be_v imprint_v at_o any_o such_o private_a press_n or_o press_n upon_o pain_n that_o every_o member_n in_o any_o of_o the_o say_a case_n offend_v shall_v be_v liable_a to_o be_v disfranchise_v for_o such_o offence_n or_o to_o pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n such_o reasonable_a fine_a not_o exceed_v fifty_o pound_n as_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a company_n or_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o in_o a_o court_n of_o assistant_n shall_v impose_v upon_o he_o for_o such_o his_o offence_n and_o for_o the_o better_a discovery_n of_o all_o such_o private_a printing-presses_a common_o call_v press_n in_o holes_n it_o be_v further_o ordain_v that_o every_o person_n and_o person_n that_o shall_v discover_v any_o such_o private_a printing-presse_a to_o the_o master_n and_o warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o either_o of_o they_o shall_v have_v the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n or_o what_o more_o the_o master_n or_o warden_n shall_v think_v fit_a as_o a_o reward_n for_o such_o his_o service_n to_o be_v pay_v to_o he_o out_o of_o the_o common_a stock_n of_o the_o say_a society_n by_o the_o say_a master_n or_o warden_n or_o one_o of_o employ_v
either_o to_o work_v at_o the_o case_n or_o press_n or_o otherwise_o about_o his_o print_n any_o journeyman-printer_n freeman_n or_o forreigner_n or_o other_o person_n whatsoever_o that_o shall_v have_v offend_v in_o any_o of_o the_o case_n mention_v in_o the_o two_o last_o beforementioned_a ordinance_n for_o the_o space_n of_o three_o month_n next_o after_o due_a proof_n thereof_o make_v either_o by_o confession_n or_o otherwise_o to_o the_o court_n of_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a society_n and_o notice_n thereof_o give_v to_o the_o wheral_a master-printer_n of_o the_o say_a society_n without_o licence_n from_o the_o master_n or_o warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n first_o have_v and_o obtain_v upon_o pain_n that_o every_o member_n so_o offend_v after_o notice_n give_v as_o aforesaid_a shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v to_o the_o master_n and_o keeper_n or_o warden_n and_o commonalty_n of_o the_o mystery_n or_o art_n of_o stationer_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n the_o sum_n of_o ten_o shilling_n for_o every_o month_n that_o he_o or_o they_o shall_v employ_v such_o offender_n or_o offender_n as_o aforesaid_a and_o it_o be_v likewise_o further_o ordain_v that_o as_o aforesaid_a to_o the_o master_n and_o warden_n of_o the_o say_a society_n or_o any_o of_o they_o or_o shall_v know_o work_v at_o or_o upon_o the_o print_n of_o any_o seditious_a or_o scandalous_a
