fornication_n be_v it_o enact_v that_o what_o man_n or_o woman_n soever_o shall_v commit_v fornication_n he_o and_o she_o so_o offend_v tobacco_n person_n convict_v of_o fornication_n fine_v five_o hundred_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n upon_o proof_n thereof_o by_o confession_n or_o evidence_n shall_v pay_v each_o of_o they_o five_o hundred_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n five_o to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o parish_n or_o parish_n they_o dwell_v in_o and_o be_v bind_v to_o their_o good_a behaviour_n and_o be_v imprison_v till_o they_o find_v security_n to_o be_v bind_v with_o they_o and_o if_o they_o or_o either_o of_o they_o commit_v fornication_n as_o aforesaid_a be_v servant_n than_o the_o master_n of_o such_o servant_n so_o offend_v shall_v pay_v the_o say_v five_o hundred_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n as_o aforesaid_a for_o which_o the_o say_a servant_n shall_v serve_v half_o a_o year_n after_o the_o time_n by_o indenture_n or_o custom_n be_v expire_v punish_v servant_n guilty_a thereof_o how_o to_o be_v punish_v and_o if_o the_o master_n shall_v refuse_v to_o pay_v the_o fine_a than_o the_o servant_n to_o be_v whip_v and_o if_o it_o happen_v that_o a_o bastard_n child_n be_v get_v in_o such_o fornication_n than_o the_o woman_n if_o a_o servant_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o loss_n and_o trouble_v her_o master_n sustain_v by_o she_o have_v a_o bastard_n shall_v serve_v two_o year_n after_o her_o time_n by_o indenture_n be_v expire_v or_o pay_v two_o thousand_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n to_o her_o master_n beside_o the_o fine_a or_o punishment_n for_o commit_v the_o offence_n and_o the_o repute_a father_n to_o put_v in_o security_n to_o keep_v the_o child_n and_o save_v the_o parish_n harmless_a ci._n hire_a servant_n whereas_o divers_a person_n that_o by_o indenture_n custom_n or_o after-contract_n for_o wage_n be_v servant_n to_o several_a man_n do_v many_o time_n run_v away_o to_o plantation_n far_o remote_a and_o there_o be_v unknown_a procure_v entertainment_n with_o other_o for_o wages_n or_o share_n to_o the_o great_a damage_n and_o sometime_o utter_a undo_n of_o their_o true_a master_n and_o also_o of_o those_o that_o ignorant_o entertain_v they_o by_o pay_v the_o fine_a for_o prevention_n whereof_o for_o the_o future_a and_o for_o the_o better_a discovery_n of_o such_o runaway_n be_v it_o enact_v that_o all_o servant_n at_o the_o expiration_n of_o their_o time_n shall_v with_o their_o master_n or_o a_o sufficient_a testimonial_a from_o he_o freedom_n servants_z when_o their_o time_n be_v expire_v shall_v take_v certificate_n of_o their_o freedom_n go_v to_o the_o court_n in_o that_o county_n where_o he_o serve_v and_o there_o enter_v his_o freedom_n and_o take_v certificate_n thereof_o from_o the_o clerk_n of_o the_o say_a court_n which_o certificate_n shall_v be_v sufficient_a warrant_n for_o any_o person_n to_o entertain_v he_o into_o his_o service_n and_o whoever_o after_o his_o first_o time_n by_o indenture_n be_v expire_v and_o certificate_n thereof_o take_v out_o as_o aforesaid_a shall_v again_o upon_o any_o term_n become_v servant_n to_o another_o the_o master_n then_o hire_v the_o say_a servant_n shall_v take_v his_o certificate_n of_o freedom_n and_o keep_v it_o until_o the_o time_n contract_v for_o be_v expire_v and_o whoever_o shall_v entertain_v or_o harbour_v any_o servant_n or_o hire_a freeman_n run_v away_o from_o his_o master_n service_n and_o not_o have_v a_o certificate_n as_o aforesaid_a shall_v pay_v to_o the_o master_n of_o the_o say_a servant_n thirty_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n per_fw-la day_n and_o night_n for_o all_o the_o time_n they_o shall_v harbour_v or_o entertain_v they_o master_n and_o produce_v they_o when_o entertain_v by_o other_o master_n provide_v that_o if_o such_o runaway_n servant_n shall_v forge_v a_o certificate_n or_o steal_v the_o true_a one_o from_o the_o master_n he_o be_v hire_v to_o and_o by_o that_o mean_n procure_v himself_o entertainment_n the_o person_n entertain_v he_o shall_v be_v free_a from_o the_o fine_a but_o the_o servant_n steal_v or_o forge_v a_o certificate_n shall_v be_v punish_v for_o his_o forgery_n by_o stand_v in_o the_o pillory_n two_o hour_n upon_o a_o court_n day_n and_o if_o any_o person_n come_v free_a into_o the_o country_n shall_v by_o any_o contract_n agree_v with_o one_o person_n and_o before_o the_o time_n agree_v for_o be_v accomplish_v shall_v depart_v to_o another_o he_o shall_v first_o perform_v the_o tenor_n of_o his_o contract_n first_o make_v and_o pay_v the_o apparent_a damage_n that_o shall_v arise_v by_o his_o breach_n of_o covenant_n and_o shall_v after_o that_o satssfied_a be_v liable_a to_o the_o payment_n of_o what_o damage_n any_o other_o contractor_n with_o he_o shall_v recover_v of_o he_o by_o law_n and_o in_o regard_n the_o certificate_n of_o freedom_n may_v be_v wear_v out_o and_o lose_v and_o by_o those_o mean_v new_a one_o be_v require_v it_o be_v further_a enact_v that_o every_o clerk_n upon_o such_o pretence_n grant_v a_o new_a certificate_n shall_v mention_v in_o that_o the_o loss_n of_o the_o first_o and_o that_o for_o that_o cause_n this_o second_o be_v issue_v cii_o runaway_n whereas_o there_o be_v divers_a loiter_a runaway_n in_o this_o country_n who_o very_o often_o absent_a themselves_o from_o their_o master_n service_n and_o sometime_o in_o a_o long_a time_n can_v be_v find_v the_o loss_n of_o their_o time_n and_o the_o charge_n of_o the_o seek_v they_o often_o exceed_v the_o value_n of_o their_o labour_n be_v it_o therefore_o enact_v that_o all_o runaway_n that_o shall_v absent_v themselves_o from_o their_o say_a master_n service_n shall_v be_v liable_a to_o make_v satisfaction_n by_o service_n after_o the_o time_n by_o custom_n or_o indenture_n be_v expire_v viz._n double_v their_o time_n
