STEVVARD THe Kings most excellent Majesty doth straightly charge and command all manner of Persons chosen for the Knights Citizens and Burgesses to attend in this present Parliament that they nor any of them do presume to sit or take their places in the lower House of Parliament untill they and every of them have first taken the Oathes of Supremacie and Allegiance in the usuall manner and place nor untill the Sheriffe shall make returne of his Writ according to Statute unto the Clarke of the Crowne in Chancery and his or their names bee there entred in such manner as hath heretofore beene accustomed upon paine of the perill shall fall thereon God save the King ALl Knights Citizens and Burgesses chosen to attend this present Parliament make your appearance and answer to your names as you shall bee called The names of the Knights Citizens and Burgesses of the Counties Cities and Borough-Townes of England and Wales and the Baronie of the Ports now sitting in Parliament holden at Westminster the 3. day of November 1640. in the sixteenth yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord King Charles VVIlliam Lenthall Esquire Speaker Bedford Oliver Luke knight Roger Burgoyne Esq Bedford Towne Beauchamp St. Iohn K.
