a_o true_a and_o perfect_a relation_n of_o the_o surrender_n of_o the_o strong_a and_o impregnable_a garrison_n the_o island_n of_o scilly_n to_o captain_n batten_n vice-admiral_n of_o the_o large_a of_o all_o our_o proceed_n at_o pendennis_n but_o since_o i_o have_v be_v in_o the_o castle_n i_o can_v give_v you_o more_o true_a and_o just_a account_n of_o which_o more_o in_o the_o ensue_a letter_n because_o i_o think_v it_o meet_v to_o insert_v in_o this_o place_n the_o gallant_a proceed_n of_o our_o vice-admiral_n in_o the_o reduce_n of_o the_o island_n of_o silly_a viz._n upon_o the_o 24._o of_o august_n 1646._o some_o of_o the_o chief_a commander_n of_o the_o garrison_n of_o the_o island_n of_o silly_a have_v before_o send_v a_o trumpeter_n to_o the_o vice-admiral_n for_o a_o treaty_n come_v aboard_o the_o andrew_n where_o they_o lay_v open_a and_o present_v their_o proposition_n for_o the_o surrender_n of_o that_o island_n where_o after_o some_o consultation_n between_o the_o vice-admiral_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o his_o officer_n their_o earnest_a request_n be_v admit_v and_o immediate_o begin_v to_o debate_v upon_o the_o article_n and_o at_o last_o conclude_v that_o the_o garrison_n and_o island_n of_o silly_a with_o all_o the_o ordnance_n arm_n and_o ammunition_n shall_v be_v surrender_v to_o captain_n batten_n vice-admiral_n of_o the_o parliament_n navy_n upon_o the_o 25._o of_o august_n 1646._o a_o true_a relation_n of_o the_o surrender_n of_o pendennis_n and_o the_o island_n of_o scilly_n love_v friend_n the_o well_o wish_n of_o a_o friend_n beside_o this_o these_o may_v as_o well_o certify_v you_o of_o our_o health_n as_o of_o the_o surrender_n of_o pendennis_n castle_n to_o colonel_n fortescue_n and_o our_o commander_n the_o very_a truth_n be_v they_o will_v not_o have_v yield_v to_o the_o colonel_n but_o to_o avoid_v contention_n the_o admiral_n desire_v they_o will_v treaty_n with_o both_o which_o treaty_n at_o first_o do_v not_o hold_v for_o they_o have_v no_o mind_n to_o the_o land_n force_v neither_o value_v they_o as_o in_o my_o hear_v the_o governor_n of_o the_o castle_n tell_v the_o admiral_n but_o as_o sure_a as_o may_v be_v at_o the_o break_n of_o the_o first_o treaty_n they_o go_v into_o the_o castle_n and_o take_v on_o oath_n all_o the_o gentry_n to_o split_v the_o ordinance_n of_o which_o we_o have_v find_v fourscore_o and_o odd_a and_o to_o blow_v up_o the_o castle_n and_o so_o to_o fall_v upon_o the_o land_n force_v to_o live_v and_o die_v together_o this_o you_o may_v very_o credible_a report_n for_o i_o have_v hear_v it_o from_o the_o mouth_n of_o the_o best_a of_o they_o and_o and_o sir_n henry_n kilegrew_n my_o patient_n with_o home_n i_o be_v two_o hour_n before_o they_o surenderd_v to_o we_o but_o the_o prevention_n of_o this_o plot_n be_v by_o mean_n of_o the_o admiral_n for_o he_o have_v so_o wrought_v with_o some_o that_o come_v a_o board_n that_o he_o put_v all_o the_o soldier_n in_o a_o mutiny_n and_o by_o this_o mean_n digbie_n and_o his_o crew_n can_v not_o perform_v there_o bloody_a design_n and_o so_o they_o come_v again_o to_o treat_v and_o surrender_v the_o 17._o day_n there_o be_v no_o bread_n not_o drink_v only_o a_o little_a water_n nor_o meat_n only_o a_o cask_n of_o horse_n salt_v but_o powder_n and_o shot_n enough_o we_o have_v take_v there_o best_a shallop_n from_o they_o that_o no_o other_o dare_v venture_v to_o they_o i_o believe_v there_o be_v betwixt_o 3_o and_o 400_o sick_a leave_v behind_o the_o rest_n be_v match_v
