exercise_n be_v these_o the_o first_o to_o make_v all_o his_o subject_n to_o humble_v themselves_o and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o go_v crooked_a and_o buckle_v under_o their_o offence_n commit_v against_o his_o majesty_n in_o time_n past_a thus_o job_n after_o the_o lord_n have_v long_o afflict_v he_o and_o lay_v his_o hand_n sore_o upon_o he_o say_v behold_v i_o be_o vile_a and_o again_o i_o abhor_v myself_o and_o repent_v in_o dust_n and_o ash_n 42.6_o in_o the_o same_o manner_n we_o be_v his_o subject_n and_o people_n must_v look_v to_o be_v exercise_v with_o temptation_n and_o affliction_n like_a manner_n christ_n subject_n be_v bold_a to_o sin_n by_o nature_n and_o therefore_o to_o prevent_v a_o mischief_n he_o do_v exercise_v they_o with_o affliction_n &_o seem_v for_o a_o season_n as_o though_o he_o will_v quite_o forsake_v his_o church_n but_o his_o meaning_n be_v only_o to_o prevent_v offence_n in_o time_n to_o come_v the_o three_o end_n be_v to_o continue_v his_o subject_n hence_o it_o be_v that_o although_o the_o power_n of_o the_o church_n of_o god_n on_o earth_n be_v weak_a &_o slender_a in_o itself_o &_o contrariwise_o the_o power_n of_o the_o devil_n exceed_v great_a yet_o can_v he_o not_o so_o much_o as_o touch_v the_o people_n of_o god_n and_o he_o more_o prevail_v by_o inward_a suggestion_n and_o temptation_n then_o by_o outward_a violence_n and_o if_o it_o be_v not_o the_o power_n of_o christ_n that_o do_v bridle_v his_o rage_n there_o be_v no_o abode_n for_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n in_o this_o world_n thus_o we_o have_v see_v what_o be_v the_o work_n of_o christ_n in_o govern_v his_o church_n and_o we_o that_o profess_v ourselves_o to_o be_v member_n thereof_o must_v show_v ourselves_o to_o be_v so_o indeed_o by_o a_o experience_n of_o these_o work_n of_o his_o in_o our_o own_o heart_n and_o we_o must_v suffer_v he_o to_o gather_v we_o under_o his_o own_o wing_n and_o to_o guide_v we_o by_o his_o word_n &_o spirit_n &_o we_o be_v to_o acquaint_v ourselves_o with_o those_o spiritual_a exercise_n whereby_o his_o good_a pleasure_n be_v to_o nurture_n we_o to_o all_o obedience_n last_o we_o must_v depend_v on_o his_o aid_n and_o protection_n in_o all_o estate_n and_o see_v we_o in_o this_o land_n have_v have_v peace_n and_o rest_n with_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n among_o we_o a_o long_a time_n by_o god_n especial_a goodness_n we_o must_v now_o after_o these_o day_n of_o peace_n look_v for_o day_n of_o tribulation_n we_o must_v not_o imagine_v that_o our_o ease_n and_o liberty_n will_v continue_v
that_o all_o and_o every_o man_n shall_v be_v save_v indeed_o if_o he_o have_v say_v come_v you_o bless_v of_o my_o father_n inherit_v the_o kingdom_n prepare_v for_o all_o but_o receive_v of_o you_o as_o you_o do_v it_o to_o the_o least_o of_o these_o my_o brother_n you_o do_v it_o to_o i_o a_o most_o notable_a sentence_n and_o it_o serve_v to_o teach_v we_o how_o we_o shall_v and_o ought_v to_o wise_a governor_n of_o his_o church_n have_v set_v down_o this_o sentence_n of_o condemnation_n against_o the_o wicked_a that_o the_o child_n of_o god_n in_o this_o world_n whensoever_o they_o shall_v hear_v or_o read_v the_o same_o may_v be_v move_v thereby_o to_o stand_v in_o great_a fear_n of_o god_n and_o more_o dutiful_o perform_v obedience_n to_o his_o commandment_n away_o from_o i_o here_o we_o may_v learn_v what_o a_o bless_a thing_n it_o be_v for_o a_o man_n to_o have_v true_a fellowship_n with_o christ_n in_o this_o world_n for_o in_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n the_o punishment_n of_o the_o wicked_a be_v to_o be_v cut_v off_o from_o he_o and_o drive_v away_o from_o his_o presence_n now_o he_o that_o will_v have_v fellowship_n with_o god_n after_o this_o life_n and_o escape_v that_o punishment_n must_v seek_v to_o have_v it_o in_o this_o life_n and_o he_o that_o will_v not_o seek_v to_o have_v fellowship_n with_o he_o in_o this_o life_n shall_v never_o have_v it_o after_o in_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n again_o let_v we_o mark_v that_o it_o be_v nothing_o to_o draw_v never_o unto_o christ_n with_o our_o lip_n if_o the_o heart_n be_v not_o with_o he_o for_o such_o as_o come_v never_o with_o the_o lip_n and_o have_v keep_v aloof_o in_o the_o heart_n
or_o fellowship_n with_o god_n himself_o as_o christ_n in_o his_o solemn_a prayer_n to_o his_o father_n a_o little_a before_o his_o death_n signify_v i_o pray_v not_o for_o these_o alone_a 17.21_o but_o for_o they_o also_o which_o shall_v believe_v in_o i_o through_o thy_o word_n that_o they_o all_o may_v be_v one_o as_o thou_o o_o father_n art_n in_o i_o &_o i_o in_o thou_o even_o that_o signify_v that_o although_o now_o we_o use_v the_o preach_n of_o the_o word_n and_o the_o administration_n of_o the_o sacrament_n as_o mean_n of_o our_o fellowship_n with_o god_n yet_o when_o this_o life_n be_v end_v they_o must_v all_o cease_v god_n and_o christ_n be_v instead_o of_o all_o these_o mean_n unto_o us._n and_o he_o add_v further_a the_o city_n have_v no_o need_n of_o the_o sun_n neither_o of_o the_o moon_n to_o shine_v in_o it_o what_o then_o will_v some_o say_v must_v there_o be_v nothing_o but_o darkness_n not_o so_o for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n do_v lighten_v it_o 23._o and_o the_o lamb_n be_v the_o light_n of_o it_o again_o he_o say_v that_o in_o the_o paradise_n of_o god_n there_o be_v the_o river_n of_o water_n of_o life_n and_o the_o tree_n of_o life_n bear_v fruit_n every_o month_n 22.1_o and_o that_o be_v christ._n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v have_v no_o need_n of_o meat_n drink_n apparel_n sleep_n etc._n etc._n but_o christ_n himself_o our_o head_n in_o number_n six_o the_o first_o be_v a_o absolute_a freedom_n from_o all_o want_n in_o the_o mind_n there_o shall_v be_v no_o ignorance_n no_o unbelief_n no_o distrust_n in_o god_n no_o ambition_n no_o envy_n anger_n nor_o carnal_a lust_n nor_o terror_n in_o conscience_n or_o corrupt_a affection_n in_o the_o body_n there_o be_v no_o sore_n no_o sickness_n nor_o pain_n for_o god_n shall_v wipe_v away_o all_o tear_n from_o their_o eye_n 21.4_o nay_o then_o all_o defect_n or_o want_n in_o body_n or_o soul_n or_o in_o both_o be_v supply_v and_o the_o whole_a man_n make_v perfect_a every_o way_n he_o be_v permit_v to_o see_v only_o his_o hinder_a part_n 13.12_o &_o as_o paul_n say_v now_o we_o know_v in_o part_n and_o dark_o as_o through_o a_o glass_n in_o this_o life_n we_o can_v â—o_o otherwise_o discern_v but_o as_o a_o old_a man_n through_o spectacle_n and_o the_o creature_n but_o special_o the_o word_n of_o god_n &_o the_o sacrament_n be_v the_o spectacle_n of_o our_o mind_n wherein_o we_o behold_v his_o justice_n mercy_n love_n etc._n etc._n &_o without_o they_o we_o can_v discern_v little_a or_o nothing_o yet_o after_o this_o life_n when_o that_o which_o be_v perfect_a be_v come_v and_o that_o which_o be_v imperfect_a be_v abolish_v we_o shall_v see_v god_n as_o he_o be_v to_o be_v see_v not_o as_o through_o a_o glass_n but_o face_n to_o face_n and_o we_o shall_v know_v he_o as_o we_o be_v know_v of_o his_o majesty_n so_o far_o forth_o as_o possible_o a_o creature_n may_v god_n in_o deed_n be_v infinite_a and_o therefore_o the_o full_a knowledge_n of_o his_o majesty_n can_v no_o more_o be_v comprehend_v by_o the_o understanding_n of_o a_o creature_n which_o be_v finite_a than_o the_o sea_n by_o a_o spoon_n yet_o nevertheless_o god_n shall_v be_v know_v every_o way_n of_o man_n so_o far_o forth_o as_o a_o creature_n may_v know_v the_o creator_n now_o upon_o this_o that_o the_o elect_n have_v such_o fullness_n of_o knowledge_n it_o may_v be_v demand_v whether_o man_n shall_v know_v one_o a_o other_o after_o this_o life_n or_o no._n answer_v this_o question_n be_v often_o move_v by_o such_o as_o be_v ignorant_a
