badge_n of_o jesus_n crucify_v the_o sign_n of_o the_o cross_n upon_o which_o he_o be_v not_o only_o ashamed_a of_o it_o neither_o but_o not_o ashamed_a to_o oppose_v it_o and_o write_v and_o preach_v against_o it_o and_o disturb_v the_o peace_n of_o the_o church_n and_o simple_a soul_n about_o it_o if_o i_o say_v we_o have_v no_o other_o argument_n against_o they_o that_o they_o seek_v not_o jesus_n which_o be_v crucify_v i_o know_v not_o how_o they_o will_v invalidate_v and_o less_o answer_v it_o he_o certain_o that_o can_v endure_v the_o sign_n will_v less_o endure_v the_o thing_n itself_o nor_o seek_v he_o certain_o that_o hang_v upon_o it_o if_o he_o must_v succeed_v he_o there_o nay_o we_o ourselves_o who_o profess_v right_a enough_o live_v not_o i_o be_o afraid_a sometime_o as_o if_o we_o seek_v or_o serve_v a_o crucify_a jesus_n or_o indeed_o a_o jesus_n our_o devotion_n to_o he_o be_v dull_a and_o heavy_a slow_a and_o careless_a we_o come_v to_o church_n as_o if_o we_o care_v not_o whether_o we_o come_v or_o no_o we_o be_v niggardly_a and_o spare_v in_o the_o embalm_v of_o christ_n body_n to_o the_o church_n and_o to_o the_o poor_a we_o be_v afraid_a of_o pain_n and_o charge_n in_o his_o service_n we_o be_v ashamed_a too_o often_o to_o be_v find_v do_v well_o lest_o the_o wit_n and_o gallant_n of_o the_o age_n shall_v laugh_v at_o we_o afraid_a to_o be_v too_o ceremonious_a lest_o we_o give_v offence_n to_o i_o know_v not_o who_o ashamed_a of_o patience_n or_o humility_n lest_o we_o shall_v be_v think_v poor_a spirit_v christian_n that_o be_v the_o servant_n of_o so_o poor_a spirit_v a_o lord_n that_o will_v rather_o suffer_v himself_o to_o be_v so_o horrible_o abuse_v and_o crucify_v than_o to_o head_n his_o father_n legion_n to_o â—ight_n religious_a thought_n and_o never_o think_v of_o christ_n or_o of_o his_o cross_n either_o what_o he_o do_v or_o what_o he_o suffer_v for_o they_o or_o what_o he_o will_v have_v we_o to_o do_v upon_o it_o he_o can_v but_o say_v i_o know_v you_o seek_v not_o jesus_n that_o be_v crucify_v i_o see_v no_o balm_n in_o your_o hand_n no_o spice_n in_o your_o lap_n no_o tear_n in_o your_o eye_n no_o sorrow_n in_o your_o face_n no_o funeral_n by_o your_o garment_n no_o solemnness_n or_o seriousness_n at_o all_o in_o any_o of_o your_o demeanour_n that_o carry_v any_o semblance_n of_o relation_n to_o jesus_n crucify_v all_o so_o loose_a so_o fine_a so_o quite_o of_o another_o fashion_n that_o certain_o it_o be_v a_o tyranny_n over_o my_o faith_n to_o impose_v upon_o i_o to_o believe_v that_o you_o seek_v any_o such_o as_o a_o jesus_n that_o be_v crucify_v that_o any_o such_o as_o you_o do_v so_o at_o all_o i_o do_v not_o think_v to_o have_v make_v so_o severe_a a_o observation_n but_o that_o i_o find_v man_n think_v common_o that_o strict_a devotion_n be_v but_o woman_n work_n they_o themselves_o may_v live_v with_o great_a freedom_n but_o so_o it_o be_v not_o it_o be_v only_o this_o seek_v jesus_n we_o have_v speak_v of_o can_v real_o arm_v we_o against_o the_o grave_a or_o fit_v we_o for_o the_o resurrection_n and_o great_a person_n do_v so_o too_o too_o often_o think_v it_o be_v for_o those_o only_o of_o lesser_a rank_n the_o simple_a and_o the_o mean_a one_o they_o forsooth_o have_v enough_o to_o do_v to_o dress_v and_o visit_v and_o talk_v idle_o and_o take_v a_o liberty_n from_o morn_n to_o night_n answerable_a to_o their_o greatness_n their_o fortune_n or_o their_o youth_n this_o story_n of_o jesus_n crucify_v spoil_v all_o the_o sport_n and_o lay_v all_o their_o honour_n too_o soon_o in_o the_o dust_n well_o notwithstanding_o we_o have_v better_a all_o of_o we_o have_v the_o angel_n here_o than_o they_o commend_v we_o his_o testimony_n rather_o that_o we_o seek_v jesus_n that_o be_v crucify_v than_o their_o wit_n that_o make_v light_a of_o it_o iii_o and_o yet_o methinks_v they_o here_o be_v but_o slender_o reward_v for_o it_o for_o all_o their_o pain_n now_o they_o have_v do_v all_o he_o be_v not_o here_o that_o we_o call_v the_o correction_n of_o their_o search_n
our_o pollute_a ugliness_n we_o will_v in_o a_o word_n profess_v if_o we_o believe_v he_o be_v our_o lord_n we_o can_v no_o less_o than_o even_o desire_v he_o to_o depart_v lest_o he_o shall_v see_v too_o many_o error_n and_o miscarriage_n in_o his_o servant_n indeed_o the_o whole_a sum_n of_o all_o be_v but_o to_o teach_v we_o humble_o to_o confess_v ourselves_o unworthy_a of_o such_o a_o lord_n and_o master_n not_o worthy_a of_o his_o miracle_n not_o worthy_a of_o his_o mercy_n not_o worthy_a of_o his_o presence_n and_o way_n or_o method_n of_o his_o presence_n be_v no_o better_a than_o sinful_a man_n this_o if_o you_o carry_v home_o and_o lay_v it_o up_o and_o practise_v it_o you_o carry_v enough_o for_o once_o and_o this_o well_o do_v will_v be_v a_o sure_a foundation_n for_o all_o still_o our_o lot_n to_o labour_v still_o and_o get_v nothing_o yet_o in_o confidence_n of_o that_o word_n we_o must_v let_v down_o again_o and_o now_o we_o do_v yea_o though_o it_o be_v his_o pleasure_n that_o our_o net_n return_v again_o both_o empty_a and_o break_a i_o will_v not_o meddle_v now_o with_o st._n peter_n story_n as_o he_o be_v a_o fisherman_n what_o he_o sometime_o be_v it_o matter_n not_o god_n respect_v no_o man_n person_n i_o shall_v consider_v he_o only_o under_o these_o two_o notion_n as_o a_o man_n one_o of_o the_o same_o common_a fortune_n with_o the_o son_n of_o man_n and_o as_o a_o fisher_n of_o man_n one_o select_v by_o the_o great_a master_n of_o the_o world_n to_o ensnare_v the_o soul_n of_o man_n to_o bring_v they_o to_o his_o own_o table_n and_o in_o do_v it_o at_o his_o word_n that_o be_v ready_o whensoever_o or_o as_o soon_o soever_o as_o he_o command_v 2._o at_o his_o word_n that_o be_v obedient_o for_o his_o word_n sake_n upon_o his_o spirit_n be_v it_o not_o a_o toil_n somewhat_o more_o than_o labour_n yet_o thus_o be_v all_o our_o labour_n under_o the_o sun_n when_o christ_n be_v absent_a from_o we_o for_o what_o be_v there_o to_o sweeten_v any_o of_o our_o labour_n when_o god_n be_v go_v call_v up_o the_o choice_a of_o those_o aim_v you_o propound_v as_o end_n to_o your_o pain_n and_o reward_n to_o your_o labour_n and_o little-ease_n or_o a_o narrow_a prison_n these_o end_n then_o not_o be_v able_a to_o take_v off_o the_o nature_n of_o toil_n from_o the_o mean_n and_o endeavour_n by_o which_o they_o be_v pursue_v there_o can_v be_v nothing_o say_v to_o quit_v our_o labour_n from_o the_o true_a title_n of_o toil_n and_o misery_n misery_n indeed_o as_o well_o as_o toil_n if_o god_n be_v not_o with_o they_o for_o without_o he_o we_o can_v but_o be_v miserable_a we_o and_o all_o we_o do_v we_o and_o all_o we_o have_v samson_n grind_v at_o his_o mill_n be_v in_o more_o ease_n and_o happiness_n than_o we_o without_o christ._n all_o our_o work_n be_v like_o spider_n web_n good_a for_o nothing_o but_o to_o catch_v fly_n that_o be_v impudent_a and_o importunate_a desire_n which_o be_v the_o daily_a issue_n of_o our_o ill-spent_a hour_n for_o our_o desire_n and_o lust_n increase_v with_o our_o labour_n and_o add_v to_o their_o toil_n they_o suffer_v we_o to_o take_v no_o rest_n neither_o day_n nor_o night_n even_o upon_o our_o bed_n they_o trouble_v we_o and_o make_v our_o downy_a feather_n as_o hard_o as_o rock_n and_o marble_n the_o covetous_a man_n can_v sleep_v for_o the_o importunate_a buzzing_n of_o his_o desire_n nor_o the_o ambitious_a man_n for_o he_o nor_o the_o luxurious_a man_n for_o he_o their_o eyelid_n can_v sleep_v nor_o can_v the_o temple_n of_o their_o head_n take_v any_o rest_n for_o the_o swarm_n and_o hum_n of_o their_o inordinate_a passion_n the_o case_n be_v somewhat_o better_a with_o he_o who_o labour_n be_v for_o god_n but_o it_o be_v somewhat_o alike_o when_o it_o find_v no_o success_n a_o mere_a toil_a of_o the_o spirit_n our_o study_n and_o pain_n and_o preach_n do_v but_o wear_v out_o our_o body_n and_o afflict_v our_o soul_n when_o we_o only_o go_v round_o as_o in_o a_o circle_n without_o fasten_v any_o where_o when_o we_o effect_v nothing_o with_o all_o our_o pain_n man_n think_v the_o minister_n have_v a_o easy_a life_n of_o it_o but_o if_o they_o know_v their_o down-sitting_n and_o their_o up-rising_n the_o travel_n of_o their_o pain_n even_o to_o a_o sickness_n the_o labour_n of_o their_o mind_n even_o to_o distraction_n the_o perplexity_n of_o opinion_n that_o molest_v they_o the_o hard_a task_n of_o reconcile_a difference_n that_o daily_o lie_v sore_o upon_o they_o the_o diversity_n of_o judgement_n that_o distract_v they_o the_o care_n of_o their_o pastoral_n charge_v that_o night_n and_o day_n torture_n they_o their_o toiling_n whole_a night_n even_o without_o a_o figure_n that_o wear_v they_o out_o the_o little_a esteem_n after_o all_o this_o of_o all_o their_o pain_n and_o person_n that_o deject_v their_o spirit_n the_o less_o success_n of_o their_o endeavour_n that_o grieve_v they_o to_o the_o soul_n and_o heart_n if_o man_n will_v but_o understand_v the_o sad_a toil_n of_o these_o labour_a thought_n as_o well_o as_o labour_n together_o with_o those_o indisposition_n of_o body_n that_o usual_o grow_v upon_o they_o and_o those_o force_a retirement_n or_o debarment_n from_o those_o just_a pleasure_n and_o recreation_n that_o man_n of_o other_o condition_n lawful_o enough_o indulge_v themselves_o they_o will_v confess_v free_o that_o our_o labour_n too_o if_o we_o abstract_a it_o from_o the_o relation_n it_o have_v to_o god_n be_v but_o toil_n and_o misery_n and_o 2._o as_o uncomfortable_a too_o as_o you_o as_o any_o else_o can_v be_v for_o what_o more_o uncomfortable_a then_o to_o see_v so_o many_o year_n of_o preach_v and_o pray_v read_v and_o study_v return_n back_o
