now_o here_o first_o of_o all_o he_o prevent_v a_o objection_n yet_o so_o that_o withal_o he_o do_v bring_v a_o very_a effectual_a reason_n for_o the_o strengthen_n of_o his_o petition_n the_o objection_n may_v more_o full_o thus_o be_v frame_v what_o be_v this_o that_o i_o hear_v do_v thou_o entreat_v i_o for_o that_o vile_a varlet_n onesimus_fw-la that_o vile_a varlet_n and_o fugitive_n thief_n will_v thou_o open_v thy_o mouth_n for_o such_o a_o one_o paul_n answer_v by_o a_o distinction_n of_o time_n once_o now_o grant_v that_o once_o he_o be_v so_o but_o now_o the_o case_n be_v alter_v with_o he_o he_o be_v become_v a_o new_a man_n in_o his_o answer_n note_v two_o thing_n first_o his_o grant_n of_o the_o objection_n in_o regard_n of_o time_n past_a wherewithal_o he_o mollify_v the_o objection_n with_o a_o lessen_v kind_a of_o speech_n when_o he_o say_v only_o that_o he_o be_v unprofitable_a although_o he_o be_v not_o only_o unprofitable_a but_o also_o hurtful_a second_o the_o denial_n of_o it_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o time_n present_a which_o be_v set_v forth_o by_o the_o contrary_a affirmation_n now_o he_o say_v not_o he_o be_v not_o unprofitable_a but_o he_o be_v profitable_a and_o this_o his_o profitablenesse_n be_v amplify_v by_o comparison_n of_o unequals_n that_o it_o be_v far_o great_a than_o his_o former_a unprofitablenesse_n which_o be_v show_v by_o the_o subject_n of_o both_o before_o he_o be_v unprofitable_a to_o thou_o only_o but_o now_o his_o profitablenesse_n extend_v itself_o not_o only_o to_o thou_o who_o only_o he_o hurt_v with_o his_o theft_n but_o to_o i_o also_o and_o so_o in_o i_o to_o many_o other_o hence_o note_n how_o hard_o a_o thing_n it_o be_v even_o for_o good_a doct._n man_n to_o forget_v and_o forgive_v injury_n do_v unto_o they_o injury_n hard_o for_o good_a man_n to_o forgive_v injury_n for_o what_o need_v paul_n to_o have_v prevent_v this_o objection_n if_o he_o have_v not_o think_v philemon_z will_v have_v be_v ready_a to_o have_v object_v it_o and_o in_o that_o paul_n as_o soon_o as_o ever_o he_o have_v name_v onesimus_fw-la forthwith_o prevent_v this_o objection_n thereby_o he_o give_v we_o sufficient_o to_o understand_v that_o such_o be_v our_o corruption_n that_o we_o can_v scarce_o patient_o endure_v the_o very_a name_n of_o those_o that_o have_v wrong_v us._n and_o true_o we_o shall_v see_v oftentimes_o at_o the_o very_a name_n of_o those_o who_o they_o count_v their_o enemy_n their_o blood_n will_v present_o rise_v but_o as_o paul_n go_v about_o to_o prevent_v this_o in_o philemon_z so_o must_v we_o in_o ourselves_o and_o for_o this_o purpose_n we_o must_v call_v back_o our_o mind_n from_o those_o injury_n which_o our_o brethren_n have_v do_v we_o and_o set_v they_o to_o consider_v of_o those_o which_o we_o very_o indign_o have_v offer_v the_o lord_n and_o when_o we_o shall_v once_o see_v his_o patience_n in_o bear_v with_o great_a and_o grievous_a contumely_n at_o our_o hand_n this_o will_v make_v we_o more_o easy_o to_o pass_v the_o small_a and_o petty_a injury_n of_o our_o brethren_n thus_o much_o from_o the_o objection_n consider_v now_o paul_n answer_n and_o first_o his_o concession_n doct._n once_o he_o be_v unprofitable_a family_n wicked_a servant_n may_v be_v in_o good_a family_n whence_o we_o may_v learn_v that_o sometime_o there_o may_v be_v wicked_a servant_n even_o in_o the_o family_n of_o most_o religious_a governor_n onesimus_fw-la when_o he_o be_v yet_o a_o naughty-pack_n be_v yet_o in_o godly_a philemon_n house_n thus_o be_v elisha_n trouble_v with_o gehazi_n and_o abraham_n with_o hagar_n neither_o always_o may_v the_o wickedness_n of_o the_o servant_n be_v impute_v to_o their_o master_n so_o that_o they_o do_v that_o which_o belong_v to_o they_o as_o no_o doubt_n philemon_z do_v abundant_o for_o his_o house_n be_v the_o church_n of_o god_n but_o if_o any_o such_o naughty_a servant_n grow_v desperate_a and_o seem_v and_o present_a feel_v of_o ourselves_o and_o discern_v of_o other_o how_o many_o be_v there_o that_o be_v the_o same_o that_o they_o be_v always_o even_o from_o the_o beginning_n and_o this_o they_o think_v a_o special_a commendation_n other_o indeed_o be_v change_v but_o with_o a_o change_n clean_o contrary_a to_o this_o of_o onesimus_fw-la from_o good_a to_o evil_n and_o from_o evil_a to_o servant_n howsoever_o the_o world_n blind_v in_o judgement_n judge_v he_o of_o all_o other_o the_o most_o unprofitable_a wherefore_o as_o this_o must_v teach_v master_n as_o we_o have_v show_v to_o have_v a_o special_a respect_n of_o religion_n in_o the_o election_n of_o their_o servant_n so_o likewise_o servant_n if_o so_o be_v that_o they_o desire_v to_o do_v any_o profitable_a service_n to_o their_o master_n first_o of_o all_o true_o to_o convert_v to_o the_o lord_n their_o heavenly_a master_n to_o subject_v themselves_o to_o he_o and_o for_o his_o sake_n to_o serve_v their_o earthly_a and_o then_o they_o shall_v be_v right_a onesimuss_n indeed_o and_o of_o unprofitable_a servant_n become_v profitable_a but_o here_o master_n also_o must_v learn_v another_o lesson_n that_o since_o their_o godly_a servant_n be_v profitable_a to_o they_o they_o likewise_o be_v in_o some_o good_a measure_n profitable_a also_o to_o their_o servant_n and_o do_v not_o deal_v with_o they_o in_o any_o case_n so_o as_o laban_n will_v have_v do_v with_o jacob_n send_v they_o away_o empty_a when_o they_o have_v for_o many_o year_n have_v the_o benefit_n of_o their_o service_n and_o thereby_o have_v be_v make_v partaker_n of_o many_o of_o god_n blessing_n master_n must_v not_o be_v unprofitable_a to_o their_o profitable_a servant_n further_o we_o may_v observe_v out_o of_o this_o that_o s._n paul_n calling_n conversion_n work_n conscience_n in_o particular_a calling_n make_v onesimus_fw-la now_o convert_v a_o profitable_a servant_n that_o the_o fruit_n of_o true_a conversion_n do_v not_o only_o appear_v in_o the_o general_a duty_n of_o christianity_n but_o also_o and_o that_o special_o in_o the_o special_a duty_n of_o our_o personal_a calling_n many_o profess_v hear_v receive_v pray_v and_o do_v such_o like_a general_a duty_n who_o yet_o in_o the_o work_n of_o their_o special_a calling_n be_v find_v halt_v so_o gross_o that_o they_o may_v seem_v whole_o to_o deny_v the_o power_n of_o godliness_n for_o they_o make_v no_o conscience_n if_o they_o be_v child_n or_o servant_n to_o shake_v off_o the_o yoke_n of_o their_o parent_n and_o master_n if_o tradesman_n to_o deal_v deceitful_o and_o unfaithful_o but_o if_o thou_o be_v true_o convert_v whatsoever_o thy_o call_v shall_v be_v in_o it_o special_o thou_o will_v show_v the_o power_n of_o religion_n if_o a_o servant_n thou_o will_v be_v a_o religious_a and_o dutiful_a servant_n if_o a_o master_n a_o just_a and_o equal_a master_n one_o that_o will_v have_v a_o care_n of_o thy_o household_n soul_n as_o well_o as_o their_o body_n etc._n etc._n therefore_o luk._n 3._o when_o john_n hearer_n come_v to_o know_v what_o be_v those_o fruit_n of_o repentance_n he_o will_v have_v they_o to_o bring_v forth_o every_o one_o have_v the_o work_n of_o their_o special_a calling_n enjoin_v they_o the_o publican_n give_v to_o oppression_n and_o extortion_n to_o ask_v no_o more_o than_o their_o due_n the_o soldier_n give_v to_o rapine_n and_o violence_n to_o do_v no_o man_n wrong_v to_o be_v content_a with_o their_o wage_n etc._n etc._n the_o second_o person_n to_o who_o onesimus_fw-la be_v profitable_a be_v paul_n himself_o and_o to_o i_o here_o than_o we_o see_v that_o the_o profitablenesse_n of_o onesimus_fw-la be_v now_o convert_v do_v exceed_v his_o former_a unprofitablenesse_n that_o he_o may_v evil_a they_o do_v before_o if_o they_o have_v hurt_v any_o they_o do_v very_o abundant_o make_v up_o that_o harm_n not_o only_o be_v profitable_a to_o those_o who_o they_o have_v hurt_v but_o also_o to_o other_o who_o they_o never_o harm_v as_o here_o onesimus_fw-la by_o his_o theft_n special_o hurt_v philemon_z but_o be_v now_o convert_v he_o be_v not_o only_o profitable_a to_o his_o master_n wherefore_o the_o strong_a and_o tall_a christian_n must_v not_o contemptuous_o cast_v off_o the_o weak_a and_o little_a one_o the_o head_n to_o the_o foot_n can_v say_v i_o have_v no_o need_n of_o thou_o thou_o can_v do_v i_o no_o good_a paul_n the_o chief_a of_o the_o apostle_n here_o affirm_v onesimus_fw-la of_o the_o base_a sort_n of_o servant_n to_o be_v profitable_a unto_o he_o wherein_o we_o have_v further_o in_o paul_n a_o example_n of_o doct._n true_a humility_n so_o ingenuous_o acknowledge_v that_o profit_n which_o he_o reap_v by_o so_o mean_v a_o person_n but_o now_o we_o may_v find_v many_o onesimuss_n that_o will_v scarce_o acknowledge_v that_o profit_n which_o they_o have_v receive_v from_o paul_n but_o it_o be_v the_o part_n of_o a_o good_a nature_n to_o acknowledge_v those_o who_o god_n have_v use_v as_o mean_n and_o instrument_n of_o any_o good_a unto_o we_o though_o they_o be_v never_o so_o mean_a in_o this_o world_n otherwise_o we_o be_v ungrateful_a and_o injurious_a not_o only_o to_o the_o instrument_n but_o to_o god_n himself_o last_o observe_v that_o unto_o true_a conversion_n it_o be_v doct._n not_o enough_o that_o we_o abstain_v from_o evil_a but_o also_o that_o we_o do_v the_o contrary_a good_a for_o paul_n here_o show_v the_o fruit_n of_o onesimus_fw-la his_o conversion_n do_v not_o only_o deny_v that_o he_o be_v unprofitable_a now_o as_o before_o but_o affirm_v the_o contrary_a and_o say_v that_o he_o be_v become_v profitable_a see_v then_o in_o onesimus_fw-la the_o practice_n of_o the_o apostle_n precept_n ephes_n 4._o let_v
