we_o and_o in_o like_a sort_n when_o we_o do_v to_o man_n as_o we_o desire_v they_o shall_v do_v unto_o we_o because_o this_o be_v a_o duty_n acceptable_a to_o god_n and_o proceed_v from_o the_o love_n we_o bear_v to_o he_o we_o do_v not_o only_o perform_v our_o duty_n towards_o man_n but_o also_o our_o duty_n towards_o god_n so_o that_o this_o rule_n right_o practise_v be_v the_o whole_a law_n and_o the_o prophet_n and_o in_o effect_n equivalent_a to_o those_o two_o commandment_n love_n god_n above_o all_o and_o thy_o neighbour_n as_o thyself_o as_o appear_v out_o of_o the_o former_a collection_n but_o be_v more_o evident_a if_o we_o observe_v the_o former_a extent_n or_o exposition_n of_o it_o which_o be_v thus_o whatsoever_o you_o will_v shall_v be_v do_v unto_o you_o either_o by_o god_n or_o man_n that_o do_v to_o all_o man_n as_o they_o be_v your_o fellow_n creature_n for_o your_o creator_n sake_n or_o if_o we_o will_v further_o search_v out_o the_o exact_a temper_n and_o constitution_n of_o mind_n whereat_o this_o precept_n aim_v it_o consist_v as_o i_o may_v so_o speak_v in_o aequilibrio_fw-la in_o the_o aequipoise_n of_o our_o desire_n of_o do_v and_o receive_v good_a whether_o the_o good_a be_v to_o be_v direct_v immediate_o unto_o god_n or_o to_o our_o neighbour_n for_o his_o sake_n that_o be_v we_o shall_v be_v as_o ready_a to_o glorify_v god_n name_n both_o secret_o with_o our_o heart_n and_o by_o outward_a profession_n and_o practice_n of_o good_a deed_n as_o we_o be_v desirous_a to_o receive_v any_o blessing_n or_o benefit_n from_o he_o and_o thus_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o the_o exact_a performance_n of_o this_o precept_n will_v be_v the_o exact_a fulfil_n of_o the_o law_n and_o prophet_n that_o the_o performance_n of_o every_o part_n of_o this_o duty_n sincere_o in_o some_o though_o not_o in_o perfect_a measure_n be_v in_o like_a sort_n the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o law_n quoad_fw-la perfectionem_fw-la vel_fw-la integritatem_fw-la comment_n partium_fw-la as_o the_o school_n say_v though_o not_o quoad_fw-la perfectionem_fw-la graduum_fw-la that_o be_v observe_v this_o rule_n as_o it_o have_v be_v expound_v we_o shall_v observe_v every_o commandment_n or_o part_n of_o the_o law_n though_o none_o of_o they_o in_o that_o perfect_a and_o exact_a measure_n which_o we_o shall_v but_o perform_v the_o former_a the_o blood_n of_o christ_n jesus_n shall_v cleanse_v we_o from_o all_o our_o guilt_n of_o sin_n whereto_o we_o be_v liable_a if_o god_n shall_v enter_v into_o judgement_n with_o we_o for_o not_o perform_v of_o the_o late_a thus_o you_o have_v see_v how_o this_o precept_n do_v direct_o concern_v both_o the_o first_o and_o second_o table_n 4._o yet_o further_o that_o even_o that_o love_n and_o duty_n which_o we_o owe_v unto_o our_o neighbour_n do_v collateral_o likewise_o respect_v every_o preceept_v of_o the_o first_o table_n for_o we_o be_v bind_v by_o this_o love_n we_o owe_v one_o to_o another_o every_o one_o according_a to_o his_o call_n opportunity_n and_o ability_n to_o instruct_v another_o in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o every_o precept_n whether_o of_o the_o first_o or_o second_o table_n or_o any_o other_o part_n of_o the_o law_n and_o to_o incite_v one_o another_o to_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o same_o and_o to_o dehort_v from_o their_o breach_n or_o transgression_n so_o say_v the_o lord_n levit._n 19_o v_o 17._o thou_o shall_v not_o hate_v thy_o brother_n in_o thy_o heart_n but_o thou_o shall_v plain_o rebuke_v thy_o neighbour_n and_o suffer_v he_o not_o to_o sin_v not_o to_o transgress_v any_o of_o god_n commandment_n whatsoever_o the_o sum_n of_o all_o be_v this_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o the_o law_n of_o god_n teach_v every_o man_n to_o know_v what_o be_v good_a for_o himself_o and_o thereupon_o to_o fix_v his_o desire_n and_o this_o rule_n of_o nature_n who_o practice_n be_v here_o enjoin_v by_o our_o saviour_n bind_v every_o man_n to_o be_v as_o willing_a to_o further_o his_o neighbour_n or_o fellow-creature_n in_o pursuit_n of_o any_o lawful_a good_a as_o he_o be_v desirous_a of_o the_o same_o himself_o whether_o these_o desire_n be_v of_o thing_n pertain_v to_o this_o life_n or_o to_o the_o hope_n and_o mean_n of_o obtain_v the_o life_n to_o come_v expound_v yet_o against_o this_o precept_n it_o may_v be_v object_v that_o it_o may_v seem_v to_o establish_v the_o pythagorean_n retaliation_n which_o be_v such_o a_o error_n in_o philosophy_n as_o the_o present_a error_n of_o the_o anabaptist_n be_v in_o religion_n both_o of_o they_o tend_v to_o a_o equality_n of_o all_o sort_n of_o man_n so_o may_v this_o rule_n seem_v at_o first_o sight_n to_o make_v all_o man_n equal_a for_o if_o every_o man_n must_v do_v to_o other_o as_o he_o will_v be_v do_v unto_o then_o most_o the_o master_n perform_v the_o like_a duty_n to_o the_o servant_n as_o he_o expect_v from_o he_o so_o must_v the_o prince_n unto_o his_o subject_n the_o magistrate_n to_o such_o as_o be_v under_o he_o the_o father_n to_o the_o son_n etc._n etc._n there_o be_v some_o common_a ground_n which_o will_v serve_v to_o answer_v other_o objection_n which_o may_v be_v make_v as_o first_o whatever_o you_o will_v &c._n &c._n must_v be_v understand_v of_o a_o regulate_v will_n a_o will_v not_o taint_v with_o any_o inordinate_a self-love_n or_o sinful_a desire_n second_o it_o must_v be_v interpret_v with_o a_o salvo_n to_o all_o god_n other_o commandment_n they_o must_v stand_v as_o god_n have_v set_v they_o reconcile_v to_o one_o another_o and_o not_o be_v set_v at_o variance_n by_o our_o exorbitant_a will_n or_o affection_n three_o it_o must_v not_o be_v extend_v to_o the_o dissolve_v of_o order_n and_o disparagement_n of_o dignity_n or_o power_n ordain_v by_o god_n but_o this_o objection_n may_v have_v its_o proper_a solution_n two_o way_n first_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o precept_n be_v not_o that_o we_o shall_v do_v the_o self_n same_o to_o every_o man_n in_o every_o estate_n which_o we_o expect_v he_o shall_v do_v to_o we_o live_v in_o that_o objection_n estate_n wherein_o we_o be_v for_o see_v there_o be_v a_o inequality_n of_o estate_n there_o must_v be_v also_o
