â§_o by_o the_o king_n ¶_o a_o proclamation_n against_o the_o utter_n of_o light_a spanish_a silver_n coin_n whereas_o the_o spanish_a silver_n money_n which_o heretofore_o be_v good_a and_o of_o full_a weight_n and_o go_v in_o payment_n by_o toleration_n without_o prejudice_n or_o rather_o to_o the_o benefit_n of_o trade_n within_o this_o realm_n be_v now_o of_o late_a in_o a_o manner_n general_o so_o clip_v and_o impair_v that_o in_o the_o payment_n thereof_o the_o loss_n be_v most_o common_o to_o the_o receiver_n no_o less_o than_o a_o full_a three_o part_n and_o whereas_o there_o be_v daily_o bring_v from_o foreign_a country_n into_o diverse_a part_n of_o this_o kingdom_n a_o exceed_a great_a quantity_n of_o the_o say_v light_a spanish_a money_n by_o reason_n that_o the_o gain_n thereupon_o be_v so_o excessive_a which_o money_n be_v here_o mix_v among_o his_o majesty_n proper_a coin_n be_v pass_v away_o at_o the_o very_a full_a value_n that_o they_o be_v to_o bear_v if_o they_o be_v not_o defective_a as_o aforesaid_a which_o abuse_n do_v so_o far_o impoverish_v the_o receiver_n be_v for_o the_o most_o part_n of_o the_o poor_a sort_n and_o do_v breed_v such_o a_o general_a contention_n and_o disturbance_n betwixt_o the_o buyer_n and_o seller_n and_o the_o creditor_n and_o debtor_n as_o if_o the_o same_o shall_v be_v long_o endure_v it_o will_v breed_v a_o intolerable_a inconvenience_n his_o majesty_n therefore_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o least_o grievance_n of_o his_o love_a subject_n much_o more_o of_o a_o case_n so_o much_o concern_v their_o good_a and_o his_o own_o honour_n do_v by_o these_o present_v strait_o forbid_v and_o prohibit_v that_o any_o spanish_a money_n of_o silver_n that_o be_v clip_v or_o otherwise_o abate_v of_o their_o true_a and_o original_n value_v shall_v be_v utter_v and_o pay_v or_o accept_v and_o receive_v by_o way_n of_o payment_n within_o any_o his_o majesty_n dominion_n upon_o pain_n of_o fine_a and_o imprisonment_n to_o be_v inflict_v and_o adjudge_v by_o his_o highness_n court_n of_o star-chamber_n or_o otherwise_o course_n of_o law_n and_o do_v further_a command_n that_o such_o defective_a spanish_a money_n be_v with_o all_o convenient_a expedition_n bring_v into_o his_o highness_n mint_n in_o the_o low_a of_o london_n to_o be_v coin_a of_o new_a into_o currant_n money_n of_o this_o realm_n where_o the_o owner_n shall_v receive_v present_a payment_n for_o same_o according_a to_o their_o true_a weight_n and_o value_n in_o bullion_n give_v at_o our_o palace_n of_o westminster_n the_o twenty_o day_n of_o may_n in_o the_o eleven_o year_n of_o our_o reign_n of_o great_a britain_n france_n and_o ireland_n god_n save_o the_o king_n â§_o imprint_v at_o london_n by_o robert_n barker_n printer_n to_o the_o king_n most_o excellent_a majesty_n anno_fw-la 1613._o
