C R HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE DIEV ET MON DROIT ❧ By the King WHereas sithence the late assembly in Parliament We did for the raising of necessary Summes of Money to bee imployed in the defence of the Realme direct Our seuerall Letters and also sent sundry Priuie Seales into diuers parts of this Kingdome of which Wee had cause to expect a better Returne then hath followed which notwith standing We impute not to any disaffection in Our people but to some miscarriage in that businesse the auersenesse of some not so well affected And now for that Our intention is not to trouble Our Subiects many wayes at once whatsoeuer the present necessitie of the common defence requireth Our will and pleasure therfore is We do by this Our Royal Proclamation signifie and declare that such Our Letters which required the free gift of Our Subiects and also the Printe Seales issued sithence the last Parliament shall be from hence forth remitted and discharged without any further demaund or payment to be had or made thereupon And for such Our louing Subiects who haue already giuen any money vpon the said Letters or lent Vs Money vpon the sayd Priuie Seales issued since the last Parliament Wee haue giuen order how the same shall bee repayed vnto them without delay Giuen at Our Honour of Hampton Court the 22 day of September in the second yeere of Our Reigne of Great Britaine France and Ireland God saue the King ¶ Imprinted at London by Bonham Norton and Iohn Bill Printers to the Kings Most Exellent Maiestie M.DC.XXVI
