confidence_n in_o your_o discretion_n and_o wariness_n not_o to_o be_v delude_v that_o in_o the_o hope_n of_o the_o good_a effect_n towards_o a_o happy_a peace_n which_o you_o seem_v to_o promise_v yourself_o from_o this_o negotiation_n his_o majesty_n be_v please_v to_o descend_v very_o far_o in_o write_v so_o gracious_a a_o letter_n to_o those_o who_o may_v seem_v to_o have_v deserve_v so_o ill_o of_o he_o i_o send_v you_o herewithal_o a_o copy_n of_o the_o letter_n itself_o which_o vary_v only_o in_o stile_n not_o in_o matter_n from_o that_o draught_n which_o be_v send_v down_o hither_o which_o if_o you_o like_v and_o continue_v your_o confidence_n that_o it_o may_v be_v effectual_a to_o so_o bless_a a_o end_n as_o peace_n and_o union_n you_o be_v to_o deliver_v to_o those_o party_n second_v with_o assurance_n of_o his_o majesty_n most_o gracious_a and_o sincere_a inclination_n to_o give_v they_o full_a satisfaction_n in_o all_o their_o reasonable_a desire_n but_o if_o you_o shall_v find_v cause_n to_o lessen_v the_o belief_n of_o a_o powerful_a effect_n by_o this_o letter_n of_o his_o majesty_n it_o be_v then_o recommend_v to_o your_o discretion_n to_o forbear_v the_o delivery_n of_o it_o since_o it_o will_v be_v a_o very_a unfit_a thing_n to_o expose_v so_o great_a a_o grace_n and_o condescend_v of_o his_o majesty_n to_o hazard_n of_o be_v make_v frustrate_a and_o contemn_a god_n send_v you_o happy_a success_n in_o this_o great_a undertake_n i_o profess_v it_o be_v that_o wher_v wih_o my_o belief_n and_o reason_n go_v along_o more_o comfortable_o then_o with_o any_o thing_n i_o have_v know_v in_o projection_n since_o these_o trouble_n but_o it_o be_v not_o fit_a to_o ravell_v further_o into_o the_o business_n this_o hazardous_a way_n and_o therefore_o i_o shall_v add_v no_o more_o but_o i_o be_o oxford_n 29._o decemb_v 1643._o your_o very_a affectionate_a servant_n george_n digby_n gentleman_n if_o there_o have_v be_v no_o comment_n make_v upon_o this_o business_n this_o letter_n will_v have_v be_v enough_o this_o letter_n acknowledge_v the_o draught_n that_o be_v send_v from_o the_o city_n of_o london_n from_o those_o that_o have_v contrive_v it_o here_o and_o that_o it_o be_v pass_v the_o court_n at_o oxford_n without_o any_o material_a alteration_n this_o letter_n likewise_o acknowledge_v so_o much_o wisdom_n so_o much_o caution_n in_o sir_n bazill_n brooke_n that_o know_v lesuited_a papist_n as_o have_v be_v tell_v you_o before_o so_o much_o tenderness_n of_o his_o majesty_n honour_n to_o be_v in_o he_o that_o all_o be_v leave_v to_o his_o discretion_n as_o he_o think_v fit_a of_o if_o he_o find_v the_o temper_n of_o the_o city_n to_o be_v right_a to_o be_v deliver_v it_o be_v leave_v to_o his_o caution_n to_o his_o wariness_n to_o his_o sense_n and_o measure_n of_o his_o majesty_n honour_n to_o do_v in_o it_o as_o he_o please_v there_o be_v likewise_o hold_v forth_o unto_o you_o that_o in_o his_o opinion_n which_o be_v my_o lord_n digby_n opinion_n there_o be_v nothing_o that_o ever_o he_o observe_v of_o any_o projection_n it_o be_v his_o own_o word_n and_o therefore_o you_o may_v the_o better_o observe_v it_o that_o he_o never_o observe_v any_o thing_n in_o projection_n or_o in_o design_n all_o this_o parliament_n tend_v this_o may_v that_o be_v more_o likely_a and_o probable_a to_o bring_v the_o king_n end_n about_o and_o if_o you_o remember_v this_o till_o you_o hear_v another_o letter_n of_o his_o read_n by_o and_o by_o which_o there_o declare_v plain_o that_o the_o king_n end_n in_o his_o counsel_n now_o about_o he_o be_v never_o to_o acknowledge_v this_o to_o be_v a_o parliament_n compare_v that_o with_o this_o here_o and_o then_o you_o may_v understand_v what_o a_o project_n this_o be_v in_o the_o last_o place_n you_o may_v observe_v that_o the_o lord_n digby_n his_o great_a inclination_n as_o well_o as_o sir_n bazill_n brookes_n for_o a_o blesle_v peace_n and_o a_o bless_a union_n in_o this_o kingdom_n when_o you_o know_v very_o well_o there_o have_v not_o be_v a_o more_o unhappy_a instrument_n to_o blow_v up_o jealousy_n and_o misunderstanding_n between_o his_o majesty_n and_o his_o people_n and_o that_o dare_v not_o stand_v the_o justice_n of_o parliament_n but_o be_v fain_o to_o fly_v out_o of_o the_o kingdom_n for_o it_o and_o at_o the_o begin_n of_o these_o unhappy_a distraction_n he_o advise_v his_o majesty_n to_o retire_v into_o some_o strong_a place_n the_o better_a to_o engage_v he_o in_o a_o war_n upon_o his_o subject_n and_o yet_o no_o other_o phrase_n in_o his_o mouth_n but_o a_o happy_a peace_n and_o a_o bless_a union_n to_o cozen_v poor_a people_n to_o lead_v they_o into_o snare_n this_o letter_n on_o the_o outside_n be_v thus_o direct_v to_o our_o trusty_a and_o well-beloved_a our_o lord_n major_a and_o alderman_n of_o our_o city_n of_o london_n and_o all_o other_o our_o well_o affect_a subject_n of_o that_o city_n it_o be_v superscribe_v charles_n rex_fw-la and_o beneath_o by_o his_o majesty_n command_n george_n digbie_n trusty_a and_o well-beloved_a we_o greet_v you_o well_o when_o we_o remember_v the_o many_o act_n of_o grace_n and_o favour_n we_o &_o our_o royal_a predecessor_n have_v confer_v upon_o that_o our_o city_n of_o london_n and_o the_o many_o example_n of_o eminent_a duty_n and_o loyalty_n for_o which_o that_o city_n have_v be_v likewise_o famous_a we_o be_v willing_a to_o believe_v notwithstand-the_a great_a defection_n we_o have_v find_v in_o that_o place_n that_o all_o man_n be_v not_o so_o far_o degenerate_v from_o their_o affection_n to_o we_o and_o to_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o kingdom_n as_o to_o desire_v a_o continuance_n of_o the_o misery_n they_o now_o fall_v and_o therefore_o be_v inform_v that_o there_o be_v a_o desire_n in_o some_o principal_a person_n of_o that_o city_n to_o present_v a_o petition_n to_o we_o which_o may_v tend_v to_o the_o procure_v a_o good_a understanding_n between_o we_o and_o that_o our_o city_n whereby_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o whole_a kingdom_n may_v be_v procure_v we_o have_v think_v fit_a to_o let_v you_o know_v that_o we_o be_v ready_a to_o receive_v any_o such_o petition_n and_o the_o person_n who_o shall_v be_v appoint_v to_o present_v the_o same_o to_o we_o shall_v have_v a_o safe_a conduct_n and_o you_o shall_v assure_v all_o our_o good_a subject_n of_o that_o our_o city_n who_o heart_n be_v touch_v with_o any_o sense_n of_o duty_n to_o we_o or_o of_o love_n to_o the_o religion_n and_o law_n establish_v in_o the_o quiet_a and_o peaceable_a fruition_n whereof_o they_o and_o their_o ancestor_n have_v enjoy_v so_o great_a happiness_n that_o we_o have_v neither_o pass_v any_o act_n nor_o make_v any_o profession_n or_o protestation_n for_o the_o maintenance_n and_o defence_n of_o the_o true_a protestant_a religion_n and_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o subject_a which_o we_o will_v not_o most_o strict_o and_o religious_o observe_v and_o for_o the_o which_o we_o will_v not_o be_v always_o ready_a to_o give_v they_o any_o security_n can_v be_v desire_v and_o of_o these_o our_o gracious_a letter_n we_o expect_v a_o speedy_a answer_n from_o you_o and_o so_o we_o bid_v you_o farewell_n give_v at_o our_o court_n at_o oxford_n in_o the_o 19_o year_n of_o our_o reign_n 26._o decemb._n 1643._o gentleman_n in_o this_o letter_n also_o you_o may_v observe_v some_o few_o particular_n upon_o the_o read_n of_o it_o over_o first_o the_o good_a information_n his_o majesty_n have_v of_o the_o inclination_n of_o his_o people_n here_o how_o that_o some_o principal_a man_n in_o this_o city_n as_o it_o seem_v be_v inform_v he_o be_v very_o willing_a for_o to_o petition_v he_o to_o peace_n the_o ground_n of_o this_o you_o know_v upon_o what_o have_v be_v offer_v already_o how_o they_o come_v to_o be_v present_v to_o he_o and_o that_o by_o express_v of_o it_o here_o in_o his_o letter_n it_o be_v rather_o to_o win_v your_o affection_n to_o it_o under_o these_o plausible_a pretence_n then_o that_o he_o have_v any_o real_a or_o solid_a ground_n for_o any_o such_o thing_n in_o the_o second_o place_n you_o may_v observe_v thus_o much_o as_o have_v be_v tell_v you_o already_o that_o his_o majesty_n scope_n in_o this_o letter_n and_o the_o design_n of_o the_o counsel_n about_o he_o be_v to_o invite_v you_o of_o this_o city_n to_o be_v his_o interposer_n for_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o whole_a kingdom_n as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o parliament_n sit_v or_o as_o if_o you_o have_v quite_o forget_v the_o trust_n that_o yourselves_o have_v repose_v in_o this_o present_a parliament_n for_o he_o faith_n he_o understand_v that_o you_o have_v a_o mind_n to_o petition_v he_o for_o a_o peace_n that_o by_o that_o mean_v the_o peace_n of_o the_o whole_a kingdom_n may_v be_v effect_v and_o if_o you_o will_v fend_v
i_o shall_v tell_v master_n riley_n he_o have_v move_v he_o that_o be_v most_o concern_v in_o the_o business_n and_o that_o he_o find_v he_o very_o willing_a to_o embrace_v any_o occasion_n to_o have_v these_o difference_n reconcile_v and_o another_o note_n he_o send_v i_o to_o go_v to_o master_n riley_n with_o a_o superscription_n to_o the_o man_n in_o the_o moon_n in_o which_o he_o press_v earnest_o that_o if_o they_o will_v take_v into_o their_o consideration_n the_o groan_n and_o suffering_n of_o they_o they_o see_v not_o and_o keep_v ruin_n from_o themselves_o and_o posterity_n the_o likely_a way_n be_v to_o petition_v his_o majesty_n that_o so_o these_o great_a mischief_n may_v be_v remove_v and_o thing_n bring_v to_o a_o good_a end_n between_o the_o king_n and_o parliament_n which_o note_v i_o deliver_v to_o master_n riley_n within_o a_o week_n after_o there_o be_v a_o paper_n leave_v at_o my_o lodging_n wherein_o be_v about_o ten_o question_n propound_v two_o of_o they_o i_o have_v former_o speak_v of_o to_o colonel_n read_v which_o be_v that_o his_o majesty_n will_v be_v please_v to_o pass_v a_o act_n of_o oblivion_n and_o that_o if_o his_o majesty_n will_v come_v and_o fit_v with_o his_o parliament_n there_o be_v revenue_n enough_o to_o satisfy_v all_o demand_n in_o a_o peaceable_a way_n by_o the_o excise_n both_o for_o the_o king_n and_o parliament_n but_o find_v divers_a other_o question_n in_o the_o paper_n i_o go_v to_o master_n riley_n who_o upon_o perusal_n usall_n of_o the_o paper_n tell_v i_o that_o some_o three_o or_o four_o of_o they_o he_o do_v conceive_v may_v very_o well_o be_v take_v into_o consideration_n and_o he_o do_v often_o desire_v before_o i_o that_o some_o course_n may_v be_v take_v that_o his_o majesty_n will_v signify_v to_o the_o parliament_n or_o city_n that_o he_o will_v come_v up_o to_o the_o parliament_n and_o that_o the_o city_n will_v petition_v he_o in_o that_o behalf_n whereupon_o i_o go_v to_o sir_n david_n watkins_n and_o know_v that_o he_o be_v a_o man_n zealous_a for_o the_o parliament_n and_o commonwealth_n i_o tell_v he_o sir_n i_o be_o come_v to_o you_o to_o ask_v your_o advice_n in_o a_o business_n of_o great_a concernment_n and_o if_o i_o do_v think_v there_o be_v any_o danger_n in_o the_o do_n of_o it_o i_o will_v not_o meddle_v with_o it_o and_o therefore_o i_o be_o come_v to_o you_o to_o desire_v your_o opinion_n in_o these_o thing_n i_o present_v to_o you_o and_o what_o you_o advise_v to_o do_v in_o it_o whereupon_o i_o show_v he_o the_o paper_n wherein_o the_o question_n be_v he_o ask_v i_o where_o i_o have_v they_o i_o tell_v he_o i_o do_v conceive_v they_o come_v from_o master_n read_v and_o declare_v to_o he_o most_o of_o the_o foresay_a passage_n but_o some_o of_o they_o i_o tell_v he_o i_o have_v in_o the_o way_n of_o discourse_n speak_v of_o to_o master_n read_v but_o for_o the_o great_a part_n i_o know_v nothing_o of_o it_o sir_n david_n watkins_n tell_v i_o if_o i_o will_v leave_v the_o paper_n with_o he_o he_o will_v ask_v a_o friend_n of_o he_o and_o take_v advice_n the_o next_o day_n i_o bring_v they_o to_o he_o and_o he_o tell_v i_o he_o do_v conceive_v many_o of_o the_o question_n be_v good_a way_n for_o a_o peace_n and_o that_o the_o parliament_n and_o city_n must_v first_o be_v move_v in_o it_o and_o for_o the_o present_a he_o will_v not_o do_v any_o thing_n in_o it_o but_o will_v not_o speak_v of_o it_o to_o any_o one_o but_o wish_v it_o may_v bring_v a_o good_a peace_n and_o say_v the_o excise_n will_v give_v content_a to_o both_o whereupon_o i_o tell_v mr_n riley_n that_o i_o will_v desire_v sir_n basil_n brook_n to_o see_v if_o he_o can_v procure_v his_o majesty_n letter_n to_o the_o parliament_n or_o city_n to_o desire_v a_o accommodation_n and_o thereupon_o sir_n basil_n brooke_n before_o he_o do_v write_v any_o thing_n desire_v to_o speak_v with_o master_n riley_n himself_o to_o know_v what_o he_o do_v esteem_v the_o excise_n to_o be_v worth_a and_o what_o way_n he_o desire_v to_o be_v take_v concern_v the_o debt_n of_o the_o public_a faith_n and_o how_o the_o king_n engagement_n may_v be_v satisfy_v and_o what_o ground_n he_o have_v for_o what_o he_o shall_v speak_v and_o what_o he_o conceive_v the_o excise_n to_o be_v worth_a a_o year_n if_o the_o time_n be_v settle_v whereupon_o master_n riley_n reply_v he_o do_v esteem_v it_o to_o be_v about_o three_o million_o a_o year_n if_o the_o time_n be_v quiet_a which_o will_v quick_o satisfy_v the_o debt_n on_o both_o side_n and_o afterward_o a_o proportion_n of_o what_o shall_v be_v agree_v on_o may_v go_v for_o the_o increase_n of_o his_o majesty_n revenue_n their_o meeting_n be_v at_o the_o three_o crane_n in_o the_o vintrey_n about_o a_o month_n ago_o and_o what_o assurance_n be_v speak_v of_o if_o the_o king_n will_v assent_v to_o come_v to_o his_o parliament_n he_o shall_v have_v sir_n basil_n brook_n tell_v master_n riley_n that_o though_o he_o be_v a_o papist_n he_o suffer_v as_o much_o by_o the_o war_n as_o any_o other_o for_o he_o can_v not_o receive_v his_o rent_n and_o soldier_n be_v billet_v in_o his_o house_n and_o therefore_o it_o concern_v he_o to_o look_v after_o peace_n as_o well_o as_o any_o other_o and_o he_o will_v thank_v god_n if_o he_o can_v be_v a_o instrument_n to_o bring_v a_o last_a and_o good_a peace_n about_o master_n riley_n tell_v he_o there_o be_v no_o question_n to_o be_v make_v but_o if_o the_o king_n will_v send_v a_o letter_n to_o the_o militia_n to_o that_o effect_n as_o this_o which_o his_o majesty_n have_v send_v they_o will_v petition_v the_o house_n about_o it_o for_o without_o their_o consent_n they_o can_v not_o meddle_v in_o any_o thing_n which_o sir_n basil_n brook_n tell_v he_o he_o never_o expect_v or_o think_v otherwise_o and_o to_o this_o effect_n be_v their_o discourse_n whereupon_o he_o tell_v master_n riley_n he_o will_v take_v some_o course_n to_o see_v if_o he_o can_v persuade_v the_o king_n by_o such_o friend_n as_o he_o have_v about_o he_o to_o send_v a_o letter_n to_o the_o parliament_n or_o the_o city_n of_o london_n to_o signify_v the_o desire_n he_o have_v for_o peace_n and_o unity_n with_o all_o his_o subject_n thereupon_o they_o part_v and_o the_o next_o morning_n sir_n basil_n brooke_n speak_v to_o i_o that_o he_o will_v write_v to_o my_o lady_n duchess_n of_o buckingham_n to_o be_v a_o mean_n to_o persuade_v the_o queen_n to_o be_v a_o visible_a actor_n to_o procure_v a_o peace_n and_o that_o by_o that_o mean_v she_o will_v procure_v the_o love_n of_o the_o people_n and_o that_o she_o will_v procure_v his_o majesty_n to_o give_v a_o exchange_n for_o i_o and_o that_o if_o i_o can_v have_v his_o majesty_n warrant_n to_o come_v to_o oxford_n which_o when_o he_o tell_v i_o of_o he_o have_v write_v though_o i_o do_v not_o see_v it_o i_o make_v my_o petition_n to_o the_o militia_n my_o lord_n mayor_n and_o alderman_n gibbes_n i_o write_v a_o letter_n and_o desire_a master_n riley_n to_o deliver_v it_o to_o they_o desire_v they_o to_o move_v the_o militia_n that_o i_o may_v have_v liberty_n to_o go_v to_o oxford_n upon_o put_v in_o bail_n to_o pay_v 70._o li._n or_o to_o return_v to_o london_n within_o 20_o day_n which_o be_v not_o grant_v then_o i_o desire_v mr_n riley_n to_o find_v i_o a_o exchange_n which_o he_o do_v and_o i_o be_o now_o again_o return_v with_o the_o king_n pleasure_n in_o that_o business_n concern_v my_o exchange_n there_o be_v a_o letter_n send_v down_o by_o sir_n basil_n brook_n by_o wood_n concern_v what_o be_v desire_v but_o the_o king_n will_v not_o send_v it_o to_o the_o parliament_n but_o write_v the_o letter_n as_o it_o be_v come_v up_o and_o in_o sir_n basil_n brooks_n custody_n with_o a_o power_n in_o he_o only_o from_o my_o l._n digby_n to_o deliver_v it_o if_o he_o think_v it_o will_v work_v the_o effect_n of_o a_o bless_a peace_n and_o upon_o my_o salvation_n never_o any_o thing_n enter_v into_o my_o heart_n but_o to_o do_v all_o thing_n for_o the_o honour_n of_o the_o parliament_n and_o good_a of_o the_o common_a wealth_n to_o my_o my_o l._n digby_n tell_v i_o he_o have_v send_v up_o the_o king_n letter_n by_o one_o wood_n to_o the_o lo._n mayor_n aldermen_z and_o common_a council_n which_o be_v deliver_v to_o sir_n basil_n the_o letter_n of_o the_o lord_n digby_n upon_o another_o occasion_n which_o be_v present_v to_o the_o house_n by_o a_o noble_a lord_n that_o be_v here_o present_a his_o excellency_n my_o lord_n general_n who_o intercept_v it_o go_v beyond_o sea_n you_o shall_v understand_v there_o yet_o more_o clear_o what_o manner_n of_o counsel_n his_o majesty_n be_v now_o upon_o at_o oxford_n which_o letter_n shall_v be_v now_o read_v unto_o you_o for_o my_o very_a worthy_a friend_n sir_n henry_n de_fw-fr vic._n from_o oxford_n the_o 27._o decemb._n 1643._o your_o very_a effectionate_a friend_n and_o servant_n george_n digby_n sir_n my_o indisposition_n the_o last_o week_n fore'_v i_o to_o refer_v you_o to_o my_o secretary_n for_o a_o account_n of_o what_o occurrence_n that_o offord_v this_o week_n have_v be_v so_o little_a productive_a of_o any_o thing_n considerable_a that_o when_o i_o shall_v have_v tell_v you_o of_o take_v of_o beston_n castle_n in_o cheshire_n by_o his_o majesty_n force_n under_o the_o lord_n byron_n a_o place_n of_o huge_a importance_n both_o for_o strength_n and_o command_n of_o all_o those_o country_n of_o cheshier_n lancashire_n and_o some_o part_n of_o stafford_n and_o derbyshire_n i_o shall_v have_v tell_v you_o all_o the_o marquesse_n of_o new_a castle_n have_v attempt_v nothing_o since_o the_o take_n of_o winckfield_n manor_n plymouth_n remain_v still_o in_o its_o former_a condition_n besiege_v and_o there_o have_v be_v nothing_o do_v between_o my_o lord_n hopton_n and_o sir_n walliam_n waller_n since_o the_o unlucky_a beat_n up_o of_o one_o of_o our_o quarter_n at_o alton_n but_o we_o be_v in_o daily_a expectation_n of_o a_o critical_a blow_n between_o they_o the_o lord_n wilmot_n be_v now_o join_v with_o the_o lord_n hopton_n with_o a_o fresh_a strength_n of_o a_o thousand_o horse_n and_o both_o be_v under_o march_n to_o attain_v waller_n who_o have_v possess_v himself_o of_o arundell-town_n we_o have_v a_o strong_a garrison_n in_o the_o castle_n and_o it_o be_v probable_o hope_v he_o can_v avoid_v fight_v with_o he_o upon_o disadvantage_n thus_o much_o for_o the_o military_a part_n the_o prince_n de_fw-fr harcourt_n negotiation_n by_o way_n of_o intermise_n for_o a_o accommodation_n be_v well_o nigh_o at_o a_o end_n as_o i_o believe_v for_o that_o the_o pretend_a parliament_n will_v not_o hearken_v to_o any_o proposition_n from_o he_o in_o any_o other_o way_n then_o of_o a_o avow_a address_n by_o which_o they_o may_v seem_v either_o to_o be_v own_v by_o he_o as_o a_o parliament_n and_o apply_v to_o by_o he_o as_o a_o ambassador_n or_o else_o to_o be_v admit_v by_o the_o king_n for_o somewhat_o more_o considerable_a than_o he_o have_v in_o a_o long_a time_n own_v they_o for_o a_o point_n which_o his_o majesty_n may_v not_o suffer_v they_o to_o gain_v without_o subvert_v the_o ground_n &_o maxim_n of_o all_o his_o late_a proceed_n against_o they_o and_o that_o which_o he_o now_o go_v upon_o by_o the_o advice_n of_o all_o his_o nobility_n here_o as_o you_o will_v perceive_v by_o this_o enclose_a proclamation_n upon_o the_o effect_n thereof_o all_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o kingdom_n be_v now_o fix_v god_n send_v they_o to_o be_v as_o good_a actuate_v as_o they_o be_v in_o speculation_n for_o i_o be_o confident_a that_o in_o reason_n it_o carry_v probability_n of_o the_o sure_a and_o ready_a way_n to_o the_o reestablishment_n of_o his_o majesty_n and_o his_o just_a right_n and_o power_n of_o any_o course_n that_o have_v be_v yet_o attempt_v this_o be_v all_o more_o than_o the_o hearty_a respect_n of_o your_o affectionate_a servant_n george_n digby_n i_o have_v receive_v you_o of_o the_o 19_o and_o will_v by_o the_o next_o give_v you_o a_o account_n of_o that_o particular_a in_o it_o that_o concern_v yourself_o gentleman_n this_o letter_n for_o what_o concern_v the_o military_a part_n of_o it_o i_o believe_v your_o own_o knowledge_n be_v able_a to_o give_v yourselves_o the_o best_a judgement_n how_o that_o that_o critical_a blow_n that_o he_o there_o sperk_v of_o be_v now_o fall_v in_o great_a part_n upon_o their_o own_o head_n and_o that_o thanks_o be_v to_o god_n sir_n william_n waller_n be_v now_o in_o the_o castle_n of_o arundel_n have_v take_v above_o 1000_o or_o 1200._o prisoner_n and_o some_o 100_o and_o odd_a officer_n with_o all_o other_o thing_n deliver_v to_o he_o we_o see_v which_o way_n the_o critical_a blow_n be_v fall_v for_o which_o we_o have_v all_o cause_n to_o acknowledge_v the_o goodness_n of_o almighty_a god_n the_o second_o part_n declare_v to_o your_o consideration_n that_o boldness_n and_o confidence_n which_o break_v forth_o in_o the_o lord_n digbye_n pen_n that_o it_o seem_v he_o have_v forget_v he_o have_v be_v a_o parliament_n man_n he_o call_v that_o parliament_n which_o be_v settle_v by_o act_n of_o parliament_n the_o very_a name_n whereof_o ought_v to_o be_v sacred_a to_o the_o ear_n of_o all_o true_a english_a man_n and_o lover_n of_o their_o country_n he_o call_v a_o pretend_a parliament_n that_o which_o dare_v never_o be_v call_v say_v or_o write_v at_o any_o time_n heretofore_o in_o england_n by_o any_o whatsoever_o the_o second_o thing_n you_o may_v observe_v be_v this_o that_o that_o council_n of_o nobility_n which_o you_o will_v hear_v of_o by_o and_o by_o in_o a_o proclamation_n must_v now_o not_o only_o be_v of_o a_o council_n of_o nobility_n there_o but_o of_o all_o those_o that_o have_v be_v likewise_o expel_v out_o of_o the_o house_n of_o commons_o or_o house_n of_o peer_n or_o withdraw_v themselves_o from_o their_o duty_n and_o the_o trust_v put_v in_o they_o by_o their_o country_n all_o these_o now_o must_v assemble_v together_o and_o what_o to_o do_v to_o settle_v his_o majesty_n just_a right_n and_o power_n and_o this_o just_a right_n and_o power_n be_v to_o make_v this_o parliament_n though_o settle_v by_o a_o act_n of_o parliament_n a_o pretend_a parliament_n or_o in_o a_o word_n to_o give_v our_o law_n liberty_n or_o right_n a_o be_v or_o not_o a_o be_v sole_o in_o his_o majesty_n pleasure_n how_o just_a that_o be_v you_o yourselves_o may_v easy_o discern_v and_o how_o destructive_a it_o will_v be_v to_o you_o a_o three_o thing_n considerable_a in_o this_o letter_n be_v that_o though_o his_o majesty_n shall_v have_v any_o inclination_n to_o do_v his_o parliament_n right_a to_o acknowledge_v they_o a_o parliament_n yet_o my_o lord_n digby_n say_v it_o be_v a_o point_n that_o must_v not_o be_v suffer_v it_o be_v a_o point_n which_o his_o majesty_n must_v not_o permit_v to_o be_v gain_v though_o it_o be_v but_o to_o do_v the_o parliament_n that_o right_o as_o to_o acknowledge_v what_o they_o be_v by_o act_n of_o parliament_n his_o faithful_a and_o supreme_a council_n but_o in_o stead_n of_o this_o as_o you_o will_v hear_v by_o a_o proclamation_n of_o the_o 22._o of_o december_n all_o the_o member_n of_o both_o house_n that_o have_v forsake_v their_o country_n desert_v the_o cause_n contribute_v to_o undermine_v the_o state_n and_o kingdom_n and_o expose_v they_o to_o the_o prey_n of_o the_o irish_a rebel_n this_o must_v be_v the_o wholesome_a advice_n about_o his_o majesty_n and_o this_o wholesome_a advice_n must_v behold_v up_o though_o with_o the_o unnatural_a ruin_n of_o this_o parliament_n which_o must_v not_o be_v acknowledge_v but_o another_o thing_n set_v up_o in_o form_n of_o a_o parliament_n somewhat_o like_o a_o parliament_n
