¶ By the King ❧ A Proclamation for the restraint of seruing of Fee Deere FOrasmuch as We take notice from all partes of this Kingdome that this last hard winter hath caused a great destruction of great numbers of Our Deere both of Redde and Fallow in all Our Parkes Forrests and Chaces and that it is to be doubted those which haue escaped the extremitie of the weather are so weakned and surfeyted by the same as they will hardly holde out the next winter Soas if there bee not some course taken how they may be restored againe and preserued Our groundes will not bee supplyed a long time Wee for remedie thereof haue thought fit to make stay of the seruing of all Fee Deere and all Deere by warrants aswell to Our Iustices in Eyre of Our Forrests both on this side and beyond Trent and to all other Our Officers great and small as also Leiutenants Rangers Verdurers and Keepers that either by Custome by pretence of their Offices or by any other warrant whatsoeuer doe claime to haue any Fee Deere either within the suruey of Our Exthequer or of Our Duchie of Lancaster And to the end that Our said Iustices in Eyre and all other Our Officers clayming right of Fee Deere and all Our Leiutenants Rangers Verdurers Keepers and all other Our Officers of any Our Forrests Parkes or Chaces may the more speedily take knowledge of this Our pleasure Wee haue likewise thought good to make the same knowne vnto them by this publique signification Whereby Wee doe straitly charge and command aswell Our Iustices in Eyre beyond and on this side Trent and all Officers and Ministers aswell within the suruey of Our Exchequer as of Our Duchie of Lancaster of what degree soeuer and all Leiutenants Rangers Verdurers Forresters Keepers and Officers in any Our Forrests Chaces or Parkes That they doe forbeare to giue out their Warrants for any Deere Redde or Fallowe claimed by them as Fees incident to their Offices and places And do likewise will and command all Keepers and Vnder-keepers to whom the seruing of such Warrants do appertaine either of Red Deere or Fallowe That they shall not serue this yeere any Fee Deere to any of the Officers before mentioned or to any other demanding Deere by what Warrant soeuer except onely by Warrant vnder Our owne hand or Signet as they will answere to vs vpon perill of our displeasure Giuen at Our Court at Theobalds the second day of May in the two and twentieth yeereof Our Reigne of Great Britaine France and Ireland God saue the King ¶ Imprinted at London by Bonham Norton and Iohn Bill Printers to the Kings most Excellent Maiestie 1624.
