christ_n we_o shall_v have_v a_o agony_n too_o for_o we_o shall_v not_o only_o have_v the_o devil_n and_o a_o evil_a and_o bad_a conscience_n to_o combat_v with_o but_o we_o shall_v have_v god_n himself_o to_o fight_v against_o we_o sin_n as_o revel_v 2._o 16._o repent_v or_o else_o i_o will_v come_v against_o thou_o short_o and_o will_v fight_v against_o thou_o with_o the_o sword_n of_o my_o mouth_n so_o that_o if_o man_n do_v not_o repent_v they_o shall_v not_o only_o have_v the_o devil_n and_o a_o evil_a conscience_n to_o combat_v and_o conflict_n with_o but_o god_n himself_o and_o this_o be_v the_o sore_a combat_n that_o can_v be_v to_o have_v he_o to_o fight_v against_o they_o it_o be_v a_o great_a matter_n for_o one_o to_o have_v a_o combat_n with_o the_o devil_n and_o for_o a_o poor_a man_n to_o have_v a_o combat_n with_o a_o great_a power_n but_o a_o far_o great_a matter_n to_o have_v a_o conflict_n with_o god_n we_o see_v that_o a_o christian_a have_v need_v of_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o faith_n wisdom_n and_o patience_n for_o he_o have_v not_o only_o his_o sin_n and_o the_o devil_n to_o conflict_n with_o but_o god_n to_o fight_v against_o he_o therefore_o we_o have_v need_v to_o take_v paul_n counsel_n ephes._n 6._o to_o take_v to_o we_o the_o whole_a armour_n of_o god_n to_o be_v arm_v in_o every_o part_n for_o say_v he_o we_o wrestle_v not_o against_o strong_a must_v be_v our_o endeavour_n to_o resist_v they_o the_o more_o earnest_a our_o prayer_n we_o must_v strengthen_v our_o faith_n and_o renew_v our_o repentance_n that_o so_o we_o may_v stand_v in_o the_o temptation_n simile_n i_o have_v show_v you_o heretofore_o that_o little_a bee_n in_o a_o storm_n or_o tempest_n catch_v up_o little_a stone_n in_o their_o claw_n to_o balance_v themselves_o against_o the_o wind_n and_o storm_n that_o so_o they_o be_v not_o carry_v away_o with_o storm_n or_o tempest_n so_o christian_n must_v do_v when_o there_o be_v a_o tempest_n up_o get_v little_a stone_n as_o it_o be_v in_o our_o claw_n get_v faith_n and_o repentance_n renew_v pray_v the_o more_o earnest_o that_o so_o we_o be_v not_o carry_v away_o with_o the_o temptation_n and_o overcome_v with_o the_o conflict_n many_o a_o christian_a complain_n that_o he_o be_v trouble_v with_o evil_a motion_n that_o he_o can_v rest_v nor_o be_v at_o quiet_a and_o some_o complain_v of_o the_o deadness_n of_o their_o heart_n and_o insensibleness_n of_o they_o now_o in_o this_o case_n what_o must_v be_v do_v the_o sore_a the_o temptation_n be_v the_o great_a must_v be_v the_o endeavour_n to_o resist_v it_o therefore_o we_o shall_v be_v the_o more_o earnest_a with_o god_n in_o prayer_n and_o apply_v ourselves_o to_o the_o use_n of_o good_a mean_n that_o so_o we_o may_v not_o be_v carry_v away_o with_o the_o temptation_n if_o a_o tree_n begin_v to_o die_v at_o the_o top_n simile_n the_o way_n to_o help_v it_o be_v not_o to_o pick_v away_o the_o mould_n from_o the_o root_n for_o this_o be_v the_o way_n to_o kill_v it_o quite_o but_o to_o lay_v fresh_a mould_n to_o the_o root_n so_o if_o a_o christian_a begin_v to_o droop_v the_o way_n to_o recover_v he_o be_v not_o to_o withdraw_v himself_o from_o the_o mean_n but_o to_o apply_v himself_o to_o it_o to_o pray_v read_v meditate_v hear_v the_o word_n preach_v and_o to_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n 29._o say_v the_o lord_n to_o adam_n thou_o shall_v eat_v thy_o bread_n in_o the_o sweat_n of_o thy_o face_n why_o do_v not_o adam_n labour_v before_o this_o yes_o but_o the_o labour_n which_o he_o have_v before_o be_v a_o delightful_a not_o a_o painful_a or_o penal_a labour_n so_o christ_n be_v press_v with_o the_o burden_n of_o our_o snne_n and_o the_o weight_n of_o they_o this_o make_v he_o to_o sweat_v christ_n can_v have_v bear_v the_o heaviness_n of_o the_o earth_n on_o his_o back_n without_o sweat_v but_o our_o sin_n do_v so_o press_v and_o burden_n he_o and_o the_o weight_n thereof_o be_v so_o heavy_a that_o it_o make_v he_o to_o sweat_v it_o be_v a_o wondrous_a thing_n that_o christ_n shall_v thus_o sweat_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o we_o go_v away_o and_o feel_v nothing_o well_o sin_n will_v either_o cost_v sweat_v here_o or_o in_o hell_n better_o it_o be_v to_o sweat_v for_o they_o here_o where_o we_o may_v have_v a_o end_n of_o sweat_v than_o in_o in_o his_o orchard_n if_o there_o be_v but_o a_o little_a life_n leave_v in_o it_o he_o will_v dig_v and_o dung_n it_o about_o and_o lay_v fresh_a mould_n to_o the_o root_n of_o it_o so_o if_o there_o be_v a_o little_a life_n of_o grace_n leave_v in_o we_o we_o shall_v labour_v to_o nourish_v the_o same_o by_o prayer_n simile_n hear_v the_o word_n preach_v and_o by_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n that_o so_o we_o may_v recover_v again_o thus_o the_o disciple_n be_v assemble_v together_o to_o nourish_v that_o spark_n of_o faith_n which_o be_v leave_v in_o they_o second_o 2_o because_o they_o be_v in_o hope_n thereby_o to_o find_v a_o blessing_n upon_o they_o other_o have_v see_v christ_n and_o they_o assemble_v together_o in_o hope_n to_o see_v he_o too_o which_o may_v teach_v we_o that_o
