great_a preacher_n but_o whole_o ignorant_a of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o of_o salvation_n by_o jesus_n christ_n many_o like_o the_o false_a teacher_n of_o old_a cry_v peace_n peace_n when_o there_o be_v no_o peace_n 3._o moreover_o this_o ignorance_n arise_v partly_o from_o satan_n he_o have_v too_o great_a a_o influence_n on_o the_o heart_n and_o dark_a mind_n of_o man_n but_o if_o our_o gospel_n be_v hide_v it_o be_v hide_v to_o they_o that_o be_v lose_v in_o who_o the_o god_n 4._o of_o this_o world_n have_v blind_v the_o eye_n of_o those_o that_o believe_v not_o lest_o the_o light_n of_o the_o glorious_a gospel_n of_o christ_n who_o be_v the_o image_n of_o god_n shall_v shine_v unto_o they_o satan_n have_v a_o mighty_a power_n over_o sinful_a man_n by_o his_o cunning_a device_n to_o keep_v they_o in_o ignorance_n and_o to_o hinder_v they_o from_o study_v know_v and_o believe_v the_o gospel_n and_o by_o this_o mean_v they_o neglect_v this_o salvation_n such_o be_v blind_v by_o satan_n that_o believe_v not_o he_o may_v persuade_v they_o that_o a_o general_a faith_n or_o a_o common_a faith_n be_v true_a faith_n and_o sufficient_a and_o so_o he_o cheat_v they_o with_o a_o counterfeit_n instead_o of_o save_v faith_n or_o satan_n blind_v man_n eye_n by_o move_v they_o to_o seek_v salvation_n in_o some_o other_o way_n than_o by_o christ_n alone_o and_o by_o believe_v in_o he_o rest_v rely_v and_o depend_v on_o he_o like_o a_o evil_a person_n who_o put_v a_o poor_a traveller_n out_o of_o his_o way_n or_o direct_v he_o the_o direct_a contrary_a way_n that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v rob_v and_o murder_v by_o he_o and_o by_o other_o thief_n that_o may_v waylay_v he_o 2._o some_o neglect_n the_o salvation_n of_o the_o gospel_n from_o that_o inordinate_a love_n they_o have_v to_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n thus_o the_o young_a man_n that_o come_v run_v to_o christ_n neglect_v it_o he_o have_v his_o heart_n so_o set_v upon_o his_o great_a possession_n that_o he_o go_v away_o from_o our_o saviour_n sorrowful_a and_o refuse_v the_o salvation_n of_o his_o own_o soul_n he_o can_v not_o part_v with_o the_o world_n for_o a_o part_n in_o christ_n and_o eternal_a life_n so_o they_o that_o be_v invite_v to_o the_o marriage-supper_n out_o of_o a_o inordinate_a love_n to_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n refuse_v to_o come_v the_o it_o be_v through_o that_o love_n many_o have_v to_o their_o sin_n and_o sinful_a practice_n and_o sinful_a companion_n 8._o it_o be_v through_o the_o deceitfulness_n and_o treachery_n of_o their_o own_o evil_a heart_n 9_o through_o slavish_a fear_n or_o pretend_a modesty_n they_o dare_v not_o be_v so_o bold_a to_o venture_v themselves_o on_o christ_n be_v such_o great_a sinner_n and_o have_v that_o so_o many_o person_n neglect_v their_o own_o salvation_n i_o shall_v now_o proceed_v to_o the_o last_o thing_n propose_v to_o be_v speak_v unto_o in_o the_o prosecution_n of_o this_o proposition_n which_o be_v four_o to_o show_v you_o the_o great_a sin_n and_o evil_n of_o such_o who_o do_v neglect_v the_o mean_n of_o the_o salvation_n of_o the_o gospel_n first_o i_o shall_v show_v you_o the_o greatness_n of_o this_o sin_n in_o respect_n of_o god_n or_o show_v what_o a_o dishonour_v it_o be_v to_o he_o second_o demonstrate_v the_o greatness_n of_o the_o evil_a thereof_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o sinner_n himself_o that_o do_v neglect_v it_o three_o consider_v by_o who_o influence_n and_o instigation_n they_o do_v it_o four_o consider_v the_o vanity_n of_o those_o thing_n for_o the_o sake_n of_o which_o this_o salvation_n be_v neglect_v first_o such_o that_o neglect_v this_o salvation_n do_v cast_v great_a contempt_n upon_o god_n 1._o they_o cast_v contempt_n upon_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n that_o find_v it_o out_o and_o on_o that_o glorious_a counsel_n that_o be_v hold_v in_o eternity_n about_o it_o what_o be_v it_o but_o a_o breathe_n forth_o of_o the_o high_a disdain_n on_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n what_o be_v the_o voice_n of_o some_o sinner_n heart_n we_o shall_v be_v save_v though_o we_o go_v on_o in_o our_o own_o way_n god_n be_v good_a merciful_a etc._n etc._n this_o be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o undervalue_v of_o the_o glorious_a and_o no_o less_o gracious_a contrivance_n of_o infinite_a wisdom_n to_o seek_v to_o be_v save_v some_o other_o way_n or_o to_o neglect_v this_o way_n suppose_v a_o prince_n shall_v hold_v a_o council_n in_o order_n to_o make_v a_o company_n of_o rebel_n happy_a for_o ever_o not_o only_o to_o pardon_v they_o but_o whole_o neglect_v the_o free_a acceptation_n thereof_o will_v not_o this_o cast_v a_o slight_a and_o reproach_n upon_o that_o prince_n and_o will_v not_o all_o man_n say_v sure_o they_o be_v mad_a brethren_n all_o ungodly_a man_n who_o neglect_v this_o salvation_n consult_v with_o the_o devil_n take_v counsel_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o of_o their_o own_o wicked_a heart_n to_o frustrate_v if_o it_o be_v possible_a the_o counsel_n of_o god_n he_o have_v ordain_v the_o preach_a of_o the_o gospel_n as_o the_o way_n to_o work_v faith_n in_o they_o and_o so_o to_o give_v they_o a_o interest_n in_o salvation_n but_o they_o slight_a and_o neglect_v attend_v upon_o the_o word_n nay_o believe_v it_o not_o but_o conspire_v against_o god_n and_o set_v themselves_o against_o the_o lord_n and_o against_o his_o christ_n say_v 3._o let_v we_o break_v their_o bond_n asunder_o and_o cast_v their_o cord_n from_o we_o let_v we_o cast_v away_o the_o offer_v and_o promise_v of_o this_o god_n and_o of_o this_o christ_n about_o salvation_n and_o a_o eternal_a kingdom_n and_o those_o threaten_n of_o wrath_n and_o hell_n whereby_o they_o will_v one_o while_n allure_v we_o to_o forsake_v our_o sin_n and_o belove_a lust_n and_o at_o another_o time_n frighten_v we_o into_o faith_n and_o obedience_n and_o to_o submit_v our_o neck_n to_o his_o yoke_n come_v let_v we_o slight_v all_o those_o sovereignty_n by_o choose_v and_o prescribe_v other_o way_n of_o god_n communicate_v of_o himself_o to_o his_o creature_n than_o what_o he_o in_o his_o eternal_a counsel_n fix_v upon_o and_o find_v out_o 2._o if_o it_o be_v neglect_v through_o despair_n they_o cast_v contempt_n upon_o christ_n blood_n as_o if_o there_o be_v not_o a_o sufficiency_n in_o it_o to_o cleanse_v and_o save_v they_o christ_n of_o his_o power_n to_o save_v or_o else_o of_o his_o truth_n and_o faithfulness_n who_o have_v say_v look_v unto_o i_o and_o be_v you_o save_v all_o you_o end_v of_o the_o earth_n and_o again_o he_o that_o come_v unto_o i_o i_o will_v in_o no_o wise_a cast_v out_o a_o convince_a 37._o sinner_n before_o he_o come_v to_o christ_n nay_o and_o sometime_o afterward_o too_o when_o under_o temptation_n be_v apt_a to_o say_v can_v god_n pardon_v my_o sin_n can_v god_n remit_v my_o sin_n that_o be_v so_o great_a pray_v take_v notice_n of_o two_o text_n of_o scripture_n the_o one_o honour_n o_o how_o many_o love_n worldly_a grandeur_n and_o a_o name_n among_o man_n above_o the_o salvation_n of_o their_o soul_n these_o be_v like_o those_o jew_n who_o be_v say_v to_o believe_v thereof_o but_o the_o curse_n of_o it_o remain_v on_o all_o they_o who_o receive_v not_o jesus_n christ_n it_o have_v its_o full_a blow_n and_o stroke_n on_o all_o gospel_n neglecter_n because_o it_o the_o gild_n and_o punishment_n of_o their_o sin_n their_o sin_n lie_v upon_o they_o they_o be_v charge_v upon_o all_o that_o neglect_n or_o refuse_v the_o salvation_n wrought_v out_o by_o jesus_n judgement_n can_v come_v upon_o the_o land_n thou_o have_v get_v a_o sure_a sanctuary_n god_n be_v thy_o help_n and_o thy_o salvation_n brethren_n there_o be_v many_o sad_a effect_n that_o do_v attend_v those_o that_o neglect_n continual_o neglect_v this_o salvation_n whilst_o they_o be_v in_o this_o world_n as_o manifestation_n of_o god_n displeasure_n as_o 1._o god_n withdraw_v the_o influence_n of_o his_o spirit_n from_o they_o after_o they_o have_v for_o a_o long_a time_n resist_v it_o in_o the_o common_a motion_n thereof_o even_o to_o such_o a_o degree_n that_o it_o shall_v strive_v with_o they_o no_o more_o thus_o god_n deal_v with_o the_o old_a world_n 2._o god_n give_v such_o up_o at_o last_o to_o blindness_n of_o mind_n so_o that_o they_o in_o see_v see_v not_o and_o in_o hear_v hear_v not_o neither_o do_v they_o understand_v 14._o and_o in_o they_o be_v fulfil_v the_o prophecy_n of_o esaias_n by_o hear_v you_o shall_v hear_v and_o shall_v not_o understand_v and_o see_v you_o shall_v see_v and_o not_o perceive_v the_o word_n of_o god_n if_o neglect_v and_o not_o receive_v that_o it_o may_v become_v a_o savour_n of_o life_n unto_o life_n will_v become_v a_o
