in_o christ_n disciple_n a_o example_n of_o great_a zeal_n and_o forwardness_n in_o holy_a and_o christian_a duty_n in_o that_o they_o be_v so_o earnest_a in_o follow_v christ_n and_o to_o be_v partaker_n of_o his_o doctrine_n miracle_n and_o private_a conference_n and_o be_v in_o their_o mind_n so_o take_v up_o therewith_o that_o they_o forget_v and_o neglect_v their_o ordinary_a food_n they_o forget_v to_o provide_v bread_n sufficient_a for_o they_o before_o they_o take_v ship_n to_o go_v over_o the_o sea_n of_o galilee_n with_o christ_n this_o teach_v we_o our_o duty_n after_o their_o example_n not_o only_o to_o do_v good_a and_o christian_a duty_n which_o god_n require_v of_o we_o but_o also_o to_o be_v zealous_a earnest_a and_o forward_o in_o perform_v they_o tit._n 2._o please_a god_n and_o of_o yield_a obedience_n to_o his_o will._n let_v it_o not_o be_v so_o with_o we_o but_o learn_v by_o the_o example_n of_o our_o saviour_n not_o to_o take_v notice_n of_o our_o best_a friend_n in_o case_n that_o they_o go_v about_o unreasonable_o to_o hinder_v we_o in_o such_o duty_n as_o god_n call_v we_o to_o perform_v when_o peter_n will_v hinder_v and_o dissuade_v our_o saviour_n from_o suffer_a death_n though_o it_o be_v under_o pretence_n of_o love_n yet_o he_o will_v not_o hearken_v to_o he_o but_o count_v he_o his_o enemy_n in_o that_o case_n and_o therefore_o call_v he_o satan_n matth._n 16._o so_o some_o of_o the_o holy_a martyr_n when_o some_o friend_n of_o they_o go_v about_o to_o dissuade_v they_o from_o stand_v out_o and_o suffer_a death_n for_o the_o profession_n of_o the_o truth_n they_o will_v not_o hearken_v to_o they_o nor_o suffer_v themselves_o to_o be_v hinder_v from_o the_o bold_a and_o constant_a confession_n of_o the_o truth_n be_v they_o fear_v the_o power_n and_o majesty_n of_o christ_n which_o shine_v forth_o in_o this_o great_a miracle_n 2._o they_o fear_v also_o the_o loss_n of_o more_o of_o their_o swine_n or_o other_o cattle_n of_o they_o if_o our_o saviour_n shall_v have_v continue_v in_o the_o country_n long_o and_o have_v cast_v our_o more_o devil_n there_o and_o herein_o appear_v the_o gross_a covetousness_n and_o profaneness_n of_o these_o gadarenes_n prefer_v their_o swine_n and_o other_o cattle_n before_o the_o company_n and_o presence_n of_o christ_n who_o come_v to_o do_v good_a among_o they_o yea_o to_o offer_v to_o they_o the_o mean_n of_o salvation_n by_o preach_v to_o they_o and_o by_o confirm_v his_o doctrine_n with_o this_o miracle_n yet_o have_v they_o rather_o part_v with_o christ_n than_o lose_v their_o swine_n or_o other_o cattle_n quest_n quest_n why_o do_v they_o pray_v or_o entreat_v he_o to_o be_v go_v and_o not_o rather_o persecute_v and_o drive_v he_o out_o of_o their_o coast_n see_v they_o be_v much_o offend_v at_o he_o for_o the_o loss_n of_o their_o swine_n answ_n answ_n they_o be_v so_o terrify_v with_o the_o power_n and_o majesty_n of_o christ_n which_o he_o manifest_v by_o this_o miracle_n that_o they_o dare_v not_o deal_v rough_o or_o violent_o with_o he_o but_o rather_o by_o entreaty_n so_o much_o of_o the_o meaning_n of_o these_o verse_n now_o here_o again_o in_o the_o practice_n of_o these_o gadarens_n some_o thing_n be_v commendable_a and_o some_o again_o discommendable_a thing_n commendable_a be_v 1._o that_o they_o come_v out_o to_o see_v what_o be_v do_v and_o come_v to_o christ_n to_o take_v notice_n of_o this_o great_a miracle_n 2._o that_o they_o be_v move_v with_o fear_n at_o the_o sight_n of_o it_o 3._o they_o relate_v it_o one_o to_o another_o verse_n 16._o thing_n discommendable_a be_v 1._o that_o though_o they_o come_v and_o see_v what_o be_v do_v and_o that_o the_o man_n be_v dispossess_v and_o perfect_o cure_v yet_o they_o do_v not_o thereupon_o acknowledge_v christ_n power_n or_o believe_v in_o he_o or_o make_v any_o other_o good_a use_n of_o the_o miracle_n as_o they_o shall_v 2._o that_o they_o be_v so_o far_o from_o believe_v in_o christ_n and_o from_o embrace_v his_o doctrine_n or_o profit_v by_o his_o miracle_n that_o they_o desire_v to_o be_v rid_v of_o his_o company_n pray_v he_o to_o depart_v etc._n etc._n now_o touch_v the_o instruction_n to_o be_v gather_v from_o these_o verse_n some_o of_o they_o have_v be_v before_o speak_v of_o upon_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o 14._o verse_n which_o i_o will_v here_o omit_v and_o only_o insist_v upon_o two_o or_o three_o point_n not_o touch_v before_o observe_v 1_o observe_v 1._o in_o that_o these_o gadarens_n come_v forth_o and_o come_v to_o christ_n to_o see_v what_o miracle_n he_o have_v wrought_v this_o be_v well_o do_v and_o we_o be_v herein_o to_o imitate_v they_o in_o show_v our_o desire_n and_o forwardness_n to_o take_v special_a notice_n of_o the_o great_a and_o miraculous_a work_n of_o god_n else_o we_o be_v worse_o than_o the_o gadarens_n not_o that_o we_o shall_v desire_v to_o see_v miracle_n wrought_v for_o novelty_n sake_n or_o for_o other_o sinister_a respect_n as_o these_o gadarens_n do_v but_o that_o when_o the_o lord_n do_v bring_v to_o pass_v great_a and_o miraculous_a work_n we_o shall_v take_v special_a notice_n of_o they_o in_o many_o of_o those_o which_o see_v the_o miracle_n wrought_v by_o the_o apostle_n and_o yet_o profit_v not_o by_o they_o at_o all_o use_v use_v rest_v not_o in_o the_o bare_a sight_n or_o take_v
