concern_v for_o their_o salvation_n let_v we_o prepare_v ourselves_o and_o come_v to_o this_o sacrament_n as_o often_o as_o we_o can_v if_o we_o have_v any_o true_a love_n to_o the_o lord_n jesus_n our_o best_a friend_n our_o kind_a saviour_n who_o love_v we_o and_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o we_o let_v we_o earnest_o desire_v and_o seek_v the_o purchase_n of_o his_o blood_n and_o seek_v to_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o they_o in_o that_o way_n in_o which_o he_o have_v appoint_v we_o to_o do_v so_o as_o we_o shall_v certain_o do_v if_o we_o real_o and_o sincere_o desire_v they_o i_o must_v not_o insist_v too_o long_o upon_o this_o matter_n if_o what_o i_o have_v say_v can_v persuade_v any_o unwilling_a soul_n to_o prepare_v and_o come_v to_o this_o sacrament_n i_o will_v wish_v that_o i_o can_v but_o obtain_v so_o much_o of_o such_o a_o one_o as_o to_o read_v and_o consider_v a_o short_a discourse_n to_o this_o purpose_n write_v by_o his_o grace_n the_o archbishop_n of_o canterbury_n call_v a_o persuasive_a to_o frequent_v communion_n there_o he_o shall_v see_v the_o most_o subtle_a insinuation_n which_o the_o adversary_n can_v suggest_v to_o withhold_v he_o from_o his_o interest_n and_o duty_n in_o this_o case_n utter_o baffle_v and_o confute_v and_o as_o there_o be_v reason_n to_o believe_v that_o discourse_n have_v prevail_v upon_o many_o so_o there_o be_v reason_n to_o expect_v both_o from_o that_o success_n and_o from_o the_o strength_n of_o it_o that_o none_o can_v consider_v it_o well_o but_o it_o must_v prevail_v with_o he_o sect_n xii_o of_o fitness_n to_o come_v to_o this_o sacrament_n but_o the_o common_a pretence_n and_o excuse_n that_o hinder_v man_n from_o come_v to_o this_o sacrament_n be_v that_o they_o be_v not_o fit_a for_o it_o and_o they_o be_v afraid_a of_o eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o and_o of_o incur_v their_o own_o damnation_n thereby_o it_o be_v therefore_o the_o design_n of_o this_o little_a book_n to_o show_v what_o fitness_n be_v requisite_a for_o a_o worthy_a and_o profitable_a receive_v of_o this_o sacrament_n and_o to_o help_v man_n to_o that_o fitness_n by_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n which_o they_o shall_v not_o fail_v to_o obtain_v of_o he_o by_o earnest_a prayer_n and_o the_o serious_a and_o frequent_a perusal_n of_o what_o be_v here_o present_v and_o since_o in_o celebrate_v this_o sacrament_n of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n we_o be_v to_o renew_v and_o confirm_v this_o covenant_n which_o we_o have_v be_v speak_v of_o between_o god_n and_o we_o this_o will_v abundant_o direct_v we_o what_o preparation_n and_o fitness_n be_v requisite_a that_o we_o may_v be_v meet_a partaker_n of_o it_o to_o our_o profit_n and_o comfort_n and_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o we_o know_v what_o the_o term_n and_o condition_n of_o it_o be_v which_o god_n require_v to_o be_v perform_v on_o our_o part_n and_o what_o it_o offer_v and_o promise_n on_o god_n part_n this_o matter_n therefore_o have_v be_v already_o for_o that_o reason_n distinct_o and_o somewhat_o particular_o represent_v in_o the_o next_o place_n we_o must_v unfeigned_o and_o sincere_o choose_v and_o lay_v hold_v on_o this_o covenant_n it_o must_v be_v the_o hearty_a desire_n the_o sincere_a purpose_n of_o our_o soul_n to_o be_v engage_v in_o it_o to_o be_v bind_v in_o these_o happy_a bond_n which_o set_v our_o soul_n at_o liberty_n from_o the_o bond_n of_o sin_n and_o death_n we_o must_v desire_v the_o blessing_n and_o seek_v the_o favour_n of_o it_o and_o ready_o accept_v and_o submit_v to_o the_o term_n and_o condition_n and_o declare_v that_o we_o will_v expect_v our_o salvation_n upon_o those_o term_n and_o also_o we_o must_v certain_o be_v very_o thankful_a to_o the_o son_n of_o god_n at_o this_o memorial_n of_o his_o death_n since_o he_o become_v the_o mediator_n of_o this_o covenant_n and_o have_v by_o his_o death_n procure_v the_o favour_n of_o new_a term_n of_o salvation_n and_o the_o offer_n of_o peace_n and_o reconcilement_n with_o god_n upon_o so_o gentle_a and_o easy_a term_n and_o he_o who_o have_v that_o knowledge_n of_o this_o covenant_n and_o this_o good_a disposition_n of_o mind_n thereupon_o that_o man_n be_v fit_a for_o this_o sacrament_n and_o if_o he_o come_v he_o shall_v be_v a_o welcome_a guest_n at_o the_o lord_n table_n now_o as_o i_o have_v represent_v the_o knowledge_n necessary_a to_o this_o i_o shall_v go_v on_o to_o represent_v also_o more_o particular_o the_o good_a disposition_n of_o mind_n which_o we_o ought_v to_o come_v with_o and_o i_o shall_v represent_v this_o in_o such_o a_o way_n as_o will_v be_v fit_a to_o form_v it_o in_o man_n where_o it_o be_v not_o or_o to_o excite_v and_o actuate_v it_o and_o set_v it_o into_o exercise_n where_o it_o be_v i_o shall_v represent_v it_o in_o the_o follow_a act_n or_o exercise_n of_o it_o which_o you_o may_v take_v notice_n be_v a_o lively_a description_n of_o a_o very_a meet_a receiver_n of_o this_o sacrament_n so_o that_o he_o who_o will_v become_v fit_a for_o this_o sacrament_n must_v read_v and_o meditate_v on_o those_o thing_n till_o a_o innumerable_a company_n of_o glorious_a creature_n each_o of_o they_o more_o bright_a than_o he._n think_v thou_o see_v they_o all_o in_o joy_n all_o ravish_a and_o transport_v with_o pleasure_n and_o thyself_o among_o they_o partake_v of_o that_o joy_n and_o pleasure_n think_v thou_o be_v now_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o fountain-good_a receive_v immediate_o from_o himself_o the_o we_o who_o be_v altogether_o unprofitable_a to_o he_o who_o happiness_n be_v not_o at_o all_o necessary_a nor_o can_v make_v any_o addition_n to_o he_o he_o have_v be_v eternal_o happy_a if_o all_o we_o have_v be_v for_o ever_o lose_v and_o miserable_a yet_o he_o will_v not_o see_v we_o lose_v he_o afford_v his_o help_n when_o all_o other_o help_v utter_o fail_v we_o and_o we_o must_v have_v at_o least_o sink_v into_o poverty_n and_o contempt_n he_o who_o make_v the_o world_n condescend_v to_o be_v make_v of_o a_o woman_n he_o who_o be_v lord_n of_o life_n and_o glory_n become_v subject_a to_o the_o law_n that_o oblige_v creature_n he_o who_o the_o angel_n account_v it_o their_o honour_n to_o attend_v and_o worship_n make_v himself_o of_o no_o reputation_n take_v upon_o he_o the_o form_n of_o a_o servant_n and_o expose_v himself_o to_o the_o contempt_n and_o scorn_n of_o men._n oh_o son_n of_o god_n how_o can_v thou_o endure_v to_o live_v upon_o this_o earth_n so_o defile_v
