geve_v the_o setter_n forth_o thereof_o rule_v and_o worldly_a dominion_n the_o example_n of_o the_o pope_n show_v what_o great_a strength_n &_o force_v this_o temptation_n have_v whereas_o he_o esteem_v so_o great_o the_o occasion_n to_o take_v the_o kingdom_n upon_o he_o that_o he_o have_v ever_o since_o behave_v himself_o as_o a_o obedient_a servant_n in_o all_o point_n to_o the_o devil_n room_n for_o the_o devil_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n they_o must_v creep_v up_o to_o this_o kingdom_n by_o the_o pretence_n of_o religion_n and_o this_o be_v the_o very_o worship_v of_o the_o devil_n when_o religion_n be_v pretend_v and_o yet_o all_o be_v do_v and_o apply_v to_o outward_a holiness_n and_o hypocrisy_n devil_n &_o well_o allow_v by_o reason_n and_o in_o so_o do_v they_o perform_v two_o thing_n first_o they_o pay_v the_o devil_n his_o reward_n for_o his_o kingdom_n and_o then_o obtain_v great_a authority_n with_o reason_n for_o the_o beawtiful_a show_n of_o counterfeit_a religion_n and_o this_o be_v the_o subtlety_n of_o the_o devil_n in_o this_o temptation_n he_o set_v forth_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o world_n to_o be_v a_o weighty_a thing_n proffer_v it_o apon_n a_o condition_n that_o he_o may_v be_v worship_v how_o be_v it_o there_o be_v no_o great_a peril_n in_o this_o temptation_n but_o when_o he_o go_v so_o to_o work_v that_o religion_n hereby_o may_v seem_v beautiful_a to_o reason_n and_o worthy_a of_o kingdom_n and_o all_o high_a renoum_n and_o promotion_n either_o that_o through_o religion_n thus_o transform_v great_a patrimony_n of_o kingdom_n and_o other_o thing_n may_v be_v retain_v and_o keep_v now_o be_v this_o a_o devyllishe_a condition_n of_o worship_v wherefore_o it_o be_v necessary_a to_o have_v ready_a before_o our_o tradition_n be_v so_o beautiful_a and_o glister_a to_o sight_n that_o the_o head_n of_o the_o world_n as_o emperor_n and_o king_n be_v in_o love_n with_o they_o &_o high_o reverence_v they_o the_o pope_n by_o such_o service_n invent_v by_o man_n tradition_n rise_v to_o such_o renome_n with_o all_o his_o sect_n so_o that_o it_o may_v better_o be_v call_v a_o trim_a than_o a_o true_a religion_n true_a for_o he_o shall_v never_o have_v rise_v to_o such_o power_n by_o the_o true_a service_n of_o god_n &_o pure_a doctrine_n of_o sincere_a godliness_n but_o this_o make_v man_n look_v up_o upon_o his_o sake_n but_o we_o may_v thank_v our_o unbelefe_n for_o this_o which_o regard_v not_o this_o great_a joy_n but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o set_v his_o pleasure_n in_o worldly_a trifle_n and_o seek_v for_o vain_a dalliance_n thus_o far_o have_v we_o short_o rehearse_v these_o four_o thing_n teach_v who_o be_v the_o gever_n what_o be_v the_o gift_n how_o it_o be_v give_v and_o to_o who_o which_o thing_n be_v all_o so_o great_a that_o no_o man_n can_v express_v they_o sufficiente_o by_o word_n now_o follow_v the_o intent_n wherefore_o god_n give_v this_o gift_n true_o not_o that_o we_o conscience_n be_v restore_v to_o we_o for_o the_o attainment_n of_o everlasting_a life_n and_o salvation_n death_n shall_v be_v abolish_v &_o all_o joy_n shall_v rise_v for_o this_o sure_a faith_n to_o lay_v on_o us._n but_o where_o as_o it_o be_v so_o that_o we_o hear_v this_o doctrine_n and_o yet_o care_v not_o for_o it_o whether_o it_o take_v root_n in_o we_o or_o no_o and_o whether_o it_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n or_o no_o alas_o so_o be_v we_o never_o the_o better_a and_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o that_o the_o damn_a in_o the_o latter_a judgement_n shall_v chief_o be_v confound_v in_o theym selfe_o for_o this_o faultt_fw-mi word_n that_o they_o despise_v this_o preaching_n and_o dydde_v not_o regard_v it_o but_o now_o let_v we_o go_v forth_o and_o see_v what_o be_v the_o way_n all_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o shall_v not_o perish_v but_o have_v everlasting_a life_n this_o be_v a_o evident_a proof_n that_o only_a faith_n that_o be_v the_o trust_n in_o the_o grace_n and_o mercy_n of_o god_n lesson_n be_v the_o very_a hand_n wherewith_o we_o must_v take_v unto_o we_o this_o gift_n for_o even_o as_o god_n geve_v by_o love_n and_o mercy_n so_o we_o do_v take_v and_o receive_v by_o faith_n and_o can_v receve_v not_o otherwise_o as_o for_o thy_o merit_n for_o do_v this_o or_o that_o it_o have_v no_o place_n for_o our_o work_n be_v nothing_o requisite_a to_o the_o obtain_v of_o this_o gift_n only_o be_v it_o necessary_a to_o show_v ourselves_o ready_a through_o faith_n and_o even_o as_o it_o be_v give_v of_o god_n by_o love_n so_o we_o ought_v to_o receive_v it_o by_o faith_n in_o christ._n as_o for_o a_o example_n we_o hear_v here_o that_o god_n be_v merciful_a and_o ready_a to_o forgeve_v and_o that_o he_o do_v declare_v his_o love_n and_o charity_n by_o this_o toward_o we_o when_o he_o send_v his_o only_a beget_v son_n into_o the_o flesh_n and_o lay_v our_o sin_n on_o he_o accord_v to_o this_o sayinge_v of_o john_n behold_v the_o lamb_n of_o god_n â—_o which_o take_v away_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o world_n that_o by_o this_o gift_n and_o love_n our_o heart_n may_v be_v confirm_v against_o sin_n and_o the_o

than_o their_o own_o holiness_n whereas_o they_o think_v when_o they_o have_v say_v mass_n do_v sacrifice_n song_n and_o such_o like_a that_o they_o have_v do_v enough_o and_o that_o they_o need_n not_o to_o do_v a_o inch_n more_o than_o their_o prescripte_n such_o be_v stony_a saint_n yea_o rather_o develishe_a saint_n which_o seem_v to_o count_v god_n for_o their_o dettour_n and_o that_o they_o owe_v nothing_o to_o any_o man_n against_o this_o monstrous_a kind_n of_o saint_n make_v this_o parable_n for_o christ_n in_o this_o place_n be_v move_v by_o the_o example_n of_o a_o proud_a hypocrite_n which_o step_v forth_o to_o declare_v how_o great_a his_o godliness_n be_v and_o thynck_v this_o sure_o with_o himself_o that_o if_o christ_n know_v of_o his_o righteousness_n he_o will_v not_o speak_v a_o word_n of_o such_o matter_n in_o his_o presence_n which_o thing_n he_o mean_v when_o he_o say_v master_n what_o shall_v i_o do_v to_o obtain_v everla_a life_n christ_n will_v not_o live_v by_o this_o be_v the_o lawyer_n confound_v for_o he_o be_v not_o so_o bold_a as_o to_o say_v he_o have_v do_v it_o wherefore_o he_o come_v forth_o with_o a_o other_o question_n &_o say_v who_o how_o child_n honour_v their_o parent_n how_o servant_n obey_v their_o master_n how_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o church_n be_v handle_v then_o shall_v you_o understand_v who_o love_v god_n and_o labour_n and_o service_n but_o where_o be_v any_o such_o in_o household_n yea_o rather_o there_o be_v almost_o no_o great_a disobedience_n negligence_n pride_n then_o amongst_o such_o you_o and_o here_o i_o let_v pass_v the_o pick_n and_o steal_v of_o many_o of_o they_o wherefore_o they_o love_v not_o god_n they_o hate_v god_n and_o care_v not_o for_o his_o word_n or_o else_o they_o will_v show_v more_o diligence_n in_o their_o service_n but_o at_o last_o they_o shall_v be_v reward_v for_o their_o ungodliness_n and_o live_v all_o the_o time_n of_o their_o life_n with_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n in_o misery_n and_o beggary_n but_o as_o touching_n the_o pastor_n and_o minister_n of_o the_o church_n it_o be_v no_o need_n in_o this_o place_n to_o make_v long_o rehearsal_n the_o matter_n be_v plain_a how_o they_o be_v handle_v of_o ruler_n husbandman_n and_o of_o their_o neighbour_n craft_n man_n and_o courtier_n so_o that_o almost_o they_o that_o keep_v hog_n be_v more_o set_v by_o but_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n be_v straight_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v count_v worthy_a of_o love_n &_o honour_n and_o that_o nothing_o shall_v be_v deny_v they_o that_o be_v dew_n unto_o they_o as_o it_o appear_v in_o malachi_n â—0_n and_o christ_n himself_o say_v also_o every_o workman_n be_v worthy_a of_o his_o wage_n wherefore_o as_o thou_o may_v not_o deny_v thy_o servant_n thy_o parent_n lord_n &_o officer_n and_o when_o thou_o do_v not_o that_o that_o god_n command_v thou_o for_o this_o be_v his_o commandment_n that_o thou_o shall_v obey_v and_o by_o obedience_n honour_v they_o this_o commandment_n do_v thou_o hate_v for_o thou_o can_v not_o find_v in_o thy_o heart_n to_o do_v it_o and_o thou_o do_v refuse_v to_o hear_v hit_v who_o will_v say_v than_o but_o that_o thou_o hateste_a god_n this_o do_v all_o man_n crake_v that_o they_o love_v god_n but_o where_o as_o they_o hear_v common_o to_o be_v god_n commandment_n that_o they_o shall_v flee_v of_o tribulation_n our_o heart_n can_v hard_o thus_o be_v persuade_v but_o we_o think_v rather_o contrariwise_o that_o god_n hate_v we_o and_o have_v no_o regard_n to_o we_o but_o that_o he_o go_v case_n wherefore_o if_o we_o love_v godliness_n in_o deed_n that_o we_o will_v not_o depart_v from_o the_o golspel_n we_o must_v so_o use_v all_o thing_n that_o we_o may_v say_v in_o the_o name_n of_o father_n if_o you_o believe_v in_o it_o you_o believe_v in_o my_o father_n wherefore_o now_o it_o be_v easy_a to_o judge_v how_o the_o world_n stand_v mahumet_n the_o turk_n the_o pope_n the_o jew_n do_v crake_v much_o of_o god_n they_o pray_v much_o and_o affirm_v themselves_o to_o be_v the_o true_a worshipper_n of_o god._n but_o the_o matter_n be_v plain_a that_o mahumet_n the_o turk_n the_o pope_n the_o jew_n do_v not_o find_v the_o father_n neither_o know_v any_o thing_n of_o he_o for_o they_o have_v not_o the_o word_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v not_o christ_n but_o the_o father_n wherefore_o christ_n by_o these_o word_n geve_v a_o sure_a doctrine_n to_o beware_v by_o as_o though_o he_o shall_v say_v if_o you_o will_v hear_v god_n and_o have_v he_o join_v unto_o you_o you_o must_v turn_v away_o your_o eye_n and_o ear_n in_o no_o case_n from_o he_o but_o hear_v i_o and_o you_o hear_v god_n see_v i_o &_o you_o see_v god_n for_o this_o it_o be_v decree_v either_o must_v you_o hear_v god_n by_o i_o or_o never_o hear_v he_o whereof_o this_o must_v by_o reason_n follow_v that_o christ_n when_o he_o utter_v the_o bountefull_a word_n the_o hole_n godhead_n do_v allow_v it_o so_o that_o neither_o the_o devyll_n nor_o the_o world_n can_v make_v it_o frustrate_v and_o false_a the_o reason_n be_v this_o christ_n word_n be_v not_o he_o but_o the_o father_n as_o he_o say_v the_o word_n that_o you_o hear_v be_v not_o i_o but_o my_o father_n that_o send_v i_o the_o word_n be_v so_o simple_a and_o plain_a that_o nothing_o can_v be_v more_o simple_a and_o plain_a wherefore_o when_o the_o man_n that_o be_v worldly_a wise_n chance_v upon_o these_o word_n they_o think_v that_o they_o be_v but_o word_n coldlye_o &_o slender_o speak_v &_o that_o in_o great_a and_o weighty_a matter_n he_o will_v have_v use_v more_o earnest_a and_o pythye_a word_n understanding_n howbeit_o what_o great_a matter_n there_o be_v include_v in_o these_o word_n that_o be_v so_o base_v and_o slender_a that_o do_v then_o appear_v when_o great_a peril_n and_o fear_n be_v at_o hand_n wherefore_o christ_n here_o make_v a_o end_n of_o his_o sermon_n and_o say_v these_o thing_n have_v i_o speak_v to_o you_o when_o i_o be_v bide_v with_o you_o but_o the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o conforter_n who_o my_o father_n will_v send_v in_o my_o name_n he_o shall_v teach_v you_o all_o thing_n little_a ought_v to_o take_v diligent_a heed_n and_o to_o beware_v that_o they_o receive_v no_o other_o doctrine_n or_o word_n but_o that_o that_o come_v forth_o of_o this_o mouth_n for_o then_o sure_o be_v there_o a_o perfect_a way_n to_o seek_v out_o god_n that_o can_v not_o deceive_v where_o as_o otherwise_o god_n can_v not_o be_v seek_v and_o find_v out_o by_o any_o mean_n but_o it_o chance_v now_o a_o day_n as_o it_o chance_v amongst_o the_o jew_n they_o have_v their_o mercy_n seat_n and_o their_o tabernacle_n where_o they_o do_v pray_v and_o trust_v certain_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v hear_v there_o and_o no_o where_o else_o but_o what_o do_v they_o they_o refuse_v the_o place_n that_o god_n appoint_v theym_a and_o choose_v themselves_o certain_a place_n as_o they_o think_v good_a in_o their_o own_o eye_n so_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v even_o now_o christ_n say_v if_o you_o purpose_v to_o serche_n out_o god_n and_o be_v desirous_a to_o make_v he_o to_o love_v you_o first_o come_v unto_o i_o love_v i_o and_o receive_v my_o word_n but_o what_o do_v the_o pope_n what_o do_v the_o anabaptiste_n the_o jew_n the_o turk_n and_o such_o like_a they_o lie_v aside_o christ_n and_o his_o word_n and_o apply_v their_o mind_n to_o man_n tradition_n the_o pope_n trust_v in_o mass_n vow_n and_o absteyn_v from_o marriage_n the_o anabaptiste_n in_o their_o straight_a kind_n of_o lyve_n in_o their_o homely_a apparel_n and_o undefenced_a travail_n the_o jew_n and_o turk_n have_v their_o order_n also_o these_o thing_n must_v we_o diligente_o eschew_v christ_n and_o his_o word_n be_v only_o to_o be_v embrace_v for_o this_o be_v god_n commandment_n hear_v he_o and_o christ_n say_v here_o the_o word_n that_o i_o speak_v be_v not_o i_o but_o my_o father_n wherefore_o it_o be_v unpossible_a 17._o that_o he_o that_o do_v not_o love_n christ_n and_o harken_v to_o he_o only_o shall_v hear_v god_n and_o come_v unto_o he_o now_o the_o mercyful_a father_n grant_v we_o his_o grace_n that_o we_o they_o may_v learn_v also_o the_o text_n by_o heart_n and_o rehearse_v it_o daye_o with_o theym selue_o that_o they_o may_v come_v to_o the_o use_n and_o the_o true_a knowledge_n thereof_o for_o the_o word_n be_v such_o that_o they_o can_v ease_v a_o mind_n that_o be_v trouble_v and_o restore_v to_o life_n again_o the_o soul_n that_o be_v dead_a if_o so_o be_v that_o they_o believe_v they_o we_o that_o be_v more_o magnificent_a and_o excellent_a than_o god_n almighty_a here_o god_n which_o be_v infinite_a and_o unspeakable_a geve_v after_o such_o a_o sort_n liberalite_n as_o pass_v
