in_o all_o those_o thing_n which_o make_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n wherefore_o they_o take_v pleasure_n in_o all_o the_o good_a work_n that_o be_v do_v and_o likewise_o also_o do_v seek_v to_o have_v every_o day_n more_o light_a of_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n but_o it_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v that_o see_v such_o inclination_n be_v altogether_o spiritual_a it_o be_v not_o find_v in_o beauty_n of_o god_n yea_o god_n alone_a be_v he_o who_o be_v in_o truth_n wherefore_o he_o only_o ought_v to_o be_v love_v creature_n have_v not_o any_o true_a be_v but_o shadow_v wherefore_o god_n say_v unto_o moses_n i_o be_o as_o if_o he_o will_v say_v go_v down_o unto_o egypt_n to_o deliver_v my_o people_n without_o fear_n for_o that_o creature_n because_o they_o have_v no_o true_a be_v they_o cannot_a without_o i_o do_v thou_o any_o hurt_n nor_o yet_o help_v thou_o but_o i_o alone_o be_o he_o who_o for_o that_o i_o be_o in_o truth_n can_v do_v thou_o both_o good_a and_o evil_a and_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a see_v that_o in_o love_v we_o he_o first_o begin_v we_o cannot_a say_v that_o he_o have_v not_o show_v we_o his_o love_n with_o effect_n infinite_a see_v that_o he_o have_v give_v we_o his_o son_n upon_o the_o cross_n himself_o in_o he_o with_o all_o his_o divine_a grace_n and_o treasure_n and_o his_o own_o spirit_n wherefore_o whereas_o other_o virtue_n for_o that_o they_o have_v for_o their_o object_n mean_v do_v consist_v in_o a_o certain_a mediocrity_n so_o that_o it_o be_v a_o vice_n not_o only_o the_o fail_n or_o want_n of_o that_o mediocrity_n but_o also_o the_o excess_n thereoff_v charity_n like_v as_o faith_n and_o also_o hope_v for_o that_o they_o have_v god_n our_o last_o end_n for_o their_o object_n and_o therefore_o be_v call_v theological_a virtue_n do_v not_o consist_v in_o that_o mediocrity_n inasmuch_o as_o god_n can_v of_o we_o be_v love_v too_o much_o as_o also_o we_o can_v trust_v in_o he_o overmuch_o nor_o put_v too_o much_o confidence_n in_o he_o yea_o we_o do_v ever_o fail_v in_o love_v he_o beléeve_v in_o he_o and_o put_v our_o trust_n in_o he_o as_o we_o ought_v the_o mean_a to_o love_n god_n be_v to_o love_v he_o without_o measure_n and_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a infinite_o we_o be_v then_o bind_v and_o that_o by_o many_o respect_n not_o only_o to_o esteem_v more_o of_o god_n then_o of_o infinite_a world_n if_o there_o be_v infinite_a and_o to_o spend_v our_o life_n for_o god_n infinite_a time_n if_o infinite_a time_n we_o shall_v arise_v again_o but_o also_o to_o love_v he_o with_o a_o infinite_a love_n thou_o will_v say_v be_v it_o possible_a that_o we_o love_v god_n with_o a_o infinite_a love_n see_v that_o our_o will_n be_v finite_a limit_v &_o bound_v therefore_o we_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o love_v he_o with_o such_o love_n i_o answer_v and_o say_v that_o like_a as_o if_o thou_o have_v lend_v unto_o one_o a_o thousand_o crown_n and_o the_o time_n be_v come_v in_o which_o he_o ought_v will_v say_v that_o if_o this_o our_o bond_n depend_v only_o on_o his_o divine_a will_n he_o may_v dispense_v with_o we_o and_o unbind_v we_o but_o it_o depend_v on_o his_o infinite_a goodness_n wherefore_o like_o as_o god_n cannot_a take_v away_o any_o thing_n from_o his_o infinite_a goodness_n and_o yet_o be_v infinite_o good_a so_o he_o can_v unbind_v we_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v always_o abide_v in_o the_o earth_n now_o to_o this_o i_o answer_v and_o say_v that_o the_o commandment_n of_o divine_a love_n be_v in_o itself_o righteous_a honest_a and_o holy_a and_o if_o we_o be_v unable_a to_o observe_v it_o this_o be_v through_o the_o fault_n of_o man_n which_o sin_v wherefore_o such_o sin_n god_n just_o may_v impute_v unto_o we_o and_o for_o it_o punish_v we_o and_o for_o syfe_n whereof_o it_o grow_v that_o many_o beléeve_v that_o be_v afraid_a of_o the_o difficulty_n dare_v not_o walk_v by_o the_o way_n of_o god_n but_o retire_v back_o from_o it_o and_o i_o say_v that_o although_o the_o path_n be_v straight_o and_o the_o gate_n narrow_a which_o enter_v into_o the_o spiritual_a kingdom_n of_o christ_n and_o this_o because_o into_o it_o no_o man_n can_v enter_v other_o kind_n of_o penance_n so_o that_o they_o be_v do_v through_o force_n of_o love_n not_o only_o they_o be_v not_o sharp_a and_o grievous_a but_o also_o pleasant_a &_o light_a &_o in_o such_o sort_n that_o suffer_v for_o christ_n they_o judge_v themselves_o happy_a thou_o will_v say_v i_o see_v yet_o many_o which_o make_v profession_n that_o they_o be_v willing_a to_o serve_v god_n that_o do_v afflict_v themselves_o with_o fast_v abstinence_n watch_n discipline_n nakedness_n pilgrimage_n and_o with_o do_v and_o suffer_v these_o and_o many_o other_o most_o difficult_a thing_n i_o answer_v and_o say_v that_o to_o go_v unto_o heaven_n there_o be_v no_o ordinary_a need_n that_o we_o walk_v by_o such_o like_a extremity_n if_o we_o be_v not_o thereto_o move_v singular_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n but_o it_o be_v sufficient_a that_o we_o walk_v by_o the_o way_n of_o mediocrity_n in_o which_o true_o consist_v virtue_n with_o order_v all_o our_o life_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n wherefore_o at_o any_o time_n when_o we_o have_v faith_n and_o in_o we_o be_v sobriety_n sparingnesse_n temperance_n and_o other_o virtue_n we_o be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o not_o when_o abide_v barefooted_a and_o naked_a in_o a_o wilderness_n we_o eat_v nothing_o but_o root_n of_o herb_n all_o they_o therefore_o that_o be_v so_o extreme_a in_o their_o life_n as_o they_o which_o be_v out_o of_o the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o be_v not_o draw_v to_o live_v so_o by_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n but_o by_o the_o honour_n of_o the_o world_n &_o by_o other_o their_o proper_a gain_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o pride_n or_o by_o some_o other_o devilish_a and_o unclean_a spirit_n and_o if_o thou_o will_v say_v that_o the_o patriarch_n the_o prophet_n the_o apostle_n the_o martyr_n and_o all_o other_o saint_n have_v suffer_v much_o and_o likewise_o that_o other_o shall_v suffer_v forasmuch_o as_o according_a to_o paul_n judgement_n all_o they_o which_o will_v live_v godly_a in_o christ_n jesu_n must_v suffer_v persecution_n thou_o will_v say_v that_o the_o elect_v while_o that_o they_o be_v in_o this_o present_a life_n do_v not_o abide_v in_o idleness_n nor_o
