the_o death_n of_o their_o worthy_a king_n josiah_n who_o yet_o die_v unwilling_o &_o not_o without_o any_o intent_n to_o benefit_n they_o thereby_o how_o much_o more_o bitter_o shall_v we_o lament_v the_o death_n of_o our_o bless_a redeemer_n who_o be_v a_o far_o great_a and_o excellent_a king_n than_o josiah_n be_v and_o yet_o willing_o and_o free_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o our_o sake_n that_o he_o may_v free_v we_o from_o eternal_a death_n and_o destruction_n both_o of_o our_o body_n and_o soul_n questionless_a if_o we_o have_v any_o spiritual_a life_n and_o sense_n in_o we_o this_o will_v make_v we_o loathe_v our_o sin_n that_o bring_v our_o dear_a saviour_n so_o much_o woe_n and_o misery_n and_o cause_v we_o hearty_o to_o mourn_v for_o the_o same_o even_o as_o a_o man_n will_v do_v at_o the_o sight_n of_o a_o knife_n or_o sword_n or_o some_o such_o like_a instrument_n whereby_o at_o unaware_o he_o have_v slay_v his_o child_n or_o wife_n or_o any_o that_o be_v near_o and_o dear_a unto_o he_o especial_o if_o we_o consider_v that_o god_n out_o of_o his_o mere_a love_n give_v his_o only_a son_n unto_o we_o when_o 14._o joh._n 3._o 14._o we_o deserve_v nothing_o at_o his_o hand_n but_o his_o heavy_a curse_n and_o vengeance_n to_o be_v execute_v upon_o we_o and_o that_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v content_a from_o the_o abundance_n of_o his_o love_n to_o be_v so_o abase_v and_o vilify_v so_o afflict_v and_o torment_v for_o our_o offence_n this_o must_v needs_o work_v upon_o our_o soul_n if_o we_o have_v but_o the_o least_o drop_n of_o goodness_n in_o us._n object_n but_o here_o some_o man_n may_v object_v and_o say_v indeed_o if_o all_o this_o have_v be_v do_v for_o i_o alone_o you_o say_v well_o if_o my_o heart_n be_v not_o altogether_o flinty_a and_o utter_o harden_v i_o can_v not_o but_o relent_v at_o the_o consideration_n hereof_o but_o all_o god_n elect_v be_v the_o cause_n hereof_o as_o well_o as_o i._o ans_fw-fr this_o do_v nothing_o diminish_v the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o of_o christ_n towards_o you_o and_o therefore_o it_o shall_v no_o whit_n lessen_v your_o good_a affection_n towards_o he_o for_o your_o saviour_n suffer_v as_o much_o for_o your_o iniquity_n as_o if_o he_o have_v suffer_v for_o no_o man_n else_o for_o your_o sin_n alone_o require_v a_o infinite_a satisfaction_n object_n again_o it_o may_v be_v ask_v how_o the_o consideration_n of_o christ_n his_o death_n can_v make_v we_o mourn_v since_o it_o be_v the_o happy_a thing_n that_o ever_o fall_v out_o since_o the_o foundation_n of_o the_o world_n be_v lay_v and_o therefore_o may_v seem_v to_o bring_v with_o it_o great_a matter_n of_o joy_n then_o of_o sorrow_n ans_fw-fr the_o answer_n hereunto_o be_v easy_a because_o joy_n and_o sorrow_n may_v very_o well_o stand_v together_o as_o may_v plain_o appear_v in_o this_o similitude_n if_o any_o of_o we_o have_v commit_v some_o notable_a offence_n and_o be_v thereupon_o apprehend_v and_o condemn_v and_o now_o go_v to_o the_o place_n of_o execution_n there_o to_o endure_v whatsoever_o torture_n the_o wit_n or_o malice_n of_o man_n can_v inflict_v upon_o we_o and_o at_o this_o instant_n some_o dear_a friend_n of_o we_o in_o singular_a compassion_n towards_o we_o shall_v entreat_v that_o the_o execution_n may_v be_v stay_v that_o we_o may_v be_v set_v at_o liberty_n and_o he_o come_v in_o our_o steed_n to_o suffer_v whatsoever_o our_o ill_a deed_n have_v deserve_v we_o can_v not_o but_o be_v glad_a that_o we_o speed_n so_o well_o in_o be_v free_v from_o so_o much_o misery_n and_o yet_o withal_o if_o we_o have_v but_o natural_a kindness_n and_o common_a humanity_n in_o we_o it_o can_v not_o but_o grieve_v our_o soul_n that_o so_o good_a a_o friend_n of_o we_o shall_v be_v put_v to_o such_o exquisite_a torment_n for_o our_o sake_n or_o if_o a_o surety_n shall_v be_v content_a to_o sell_v his_o land_n and_o good_n for_o the_o discharge_n of_o our_o debt_n we_o have_v just_a cause_n to_o rejoice_v thereat_o and_o yet_o reason_n require_v that_o we_o shall_v be_v touch_v with_o inward_a grief_n for_o that_o we_o have_v be_v such_o bankrupt_n and_o provide_v so_o ill_o for_o the_o estate_n of_o our_o surety_n even_o so_o the_o case_n stand_v betwixt_o christ_n and_o we_o he_o do_v undergo_v those_o punishment_n which_o be_v to_o be_v inflict_v upon_o we_o and_o discharge_v those_o debt_n which_o otherwise_o shall_v have_v be_v charge_v upon_o we_o in_o regard_n of_o our_o freedom_n we_o ought_v to_o take_v comfort_n and_o in_o regard_n of_o that_o which_o our_o saviour_n do_v and_o suffer_v for_o we_o we_o must_v be_v humble_v and_o grieve_a use_v 1_o which_o serve_v for_o the_o great_a terror_n of_o sundry_a graceless_a person_n who_o be_v rebuke_v for_o their_o sin_n will_v confess_v that_o indeed_o they_o have_v their_o fault_n and_o infirmity_n but_o do_v not_o the_o son_n of_o god_n die_v say_v they_o to_o redeem_v we_o from_o the_o same_o he_o do_v so_o indeed_o if_o you_o belong_v unto_o he_o and_o will_v you_o crucify_v he_o again_o by_o your_o wretched_a and_o sinful_a behaviour_n do_v christ_n weep_v and_o cry_v and_o sweat_v drop_n of_o blood_n for_o sin_n and_o will_v you_o make_v no_o better_o use_v thereof_o then_o to_o turn_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n into_o wantonness_n and_o to_o take_v your_o swinge_n in_o sin_v because_o christ_n have_v make_v himself_o a_o offering_n for_o the_o same_o you_o proclaim_v unto_o all_o the_o world_n that_o you_o be_v not_o lead_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n and_o that_o you_o have_v not_o a_o lively_a faith_n in_o the_o merit_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n for_o if_o you_o be_v a_o true_a believer_n you_o will_v be_v so_o far_o from_o continue_v in_o sin_n because_o christ_n have_v redeem_v you_o by_o his_o blood_n that_o you_o will_v therefore_o abhor_v it_o and_o eschew_v it_o because_o it_o cost_v he_o so_o dear_a even_o as_o one_o that_o have_v any_o sparkle_n of_o civility_n in_o he_o if_o his_o friend_n have_v endure_v great_a torture_n to_o free_v he_o from_o the_o imputation_n of_o
