suffer_v for_o thou_o consider_v well_o the_o quantity_n and_o quality_n thereof_o with_o other_o circumstance_n which_o do_v increase_v the_o sorrow_n and_o passion_n and_o therefore_o the_o more_o stir_v thy_o heart_n to_o pity_n and_o compassion_n the_o three_o manner_n be_v to_o meditate_v by_o way_n of_o compunction_n or_o contrition_n which_o be_v to_o that_o end_n that_o thou_o may_v be_v prick_v with_o remorse_n of_o conscience_n and_o sorrow_n for_o thy_o sin_n which_o be_v with_o such_o rigour_n and_o cruelty_n punish_v in_o thy_o redeemer_n for_o that_o he_o be_v offer_v up_o as_o a_o ransom_n and_o price_n for_o they_o so_o to_o make_v satisfaction_n before_o the_o justice_n of_o his_o eternal_a father_n and_o this_o shall_v cause_v thou_o to_o hate_v they_o the_o more_o and_o to_o keep_v thyself_o the_o more_o wary_o hereafter_o from_o commit_v the_o like_a offence_n again_o when_o thou_o shall_v consider_v how_o much_o they_o offend_v god_n that_o he_o will_v punish_v the_o same_o with_o so_o great_a severity_n the_o four_o manner_n and_o sort_n of_o meditation_n be_v by_o way_n of_o imitation_n or_o follow_v that_o be_v to_o the_o end_n to_o follow_v the_o marvelous_a virtue_n and_o rare_a example_n that_o christ_n our_o redeemer_n show_v and_o set_v forth_o in_o his_o passion_n as_o well_o in_o the_o word_n which_o he_o speak_v as_o in_o the_o work_n which_o he_o do_v and_o in_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o suffering_n all_o which_o to_o consider_v be_v a_o certain_a lively_a example_n and_o pattern_n of_o perfection_n for_o thou_o to_o use_v as_o a_o glass_n to_o behold_v what_o virtue_n want_v in_o thou_o and_o so_o to_o use_v thyself_o that_o thou_o may_v obtain_v it_o the_o five_o manner_n and_o sort_n of_o meditation_n be_v by_o way_n of_o thanks_o give_v that_o be_v in_o render_v of_o thanks_n and_o praise_n to_o god_n for_o his_o bountiful_a goodness_n call_v to_o remembrance_n the_o innumerable_a gift_n and_o great_a benefit_n which_o be_v give_v thou_o by_o mean_n of_o this_o holy_a passion_n the_o which_o be_v so_o great_a that_o no_o understanding_n of_o man_n be_v able_a to_o comprise_v they_o yet_o notwithstanding_o those_o which_o by_o this_o discourse_n thou_o be_v able_a to_o understande_v may_v suffice_v to_o stir_v thou_o to_o give_v thanks_n and_o praise_n to_o thy_o lord_n god_n which_o have_v do_v so_o much_o for_o thou_o the_o sixth_o manner_n be_v by_o way_n of_o admiration_n for_o have_v well_o consider_v in_o thy_o mind_n the_o unspeakable_a charity_n and_o love_n of_o christ_n in_o that_o he_o have_v offer_v himself_o to_o suffer_v so_o bitter_a and_o shameful_a death_n and_o likewise_o the_o infinite_a wisdom_n and_o justice_n of_o god_n declare_v in_o the_o bitter_a passion_n of_o his_o dear_a son_n thou_o shall_v become_v as_o a_o man_n ravish_v out_o of_o himself_o be_v amaze_v of_o so_o high_a and_o wonderful_a thing_n the_o seven_o manner_n be_v by_o way_n of_o joy_n and_o hope_n for_o if_o thou_o consider_v that_o all_o which_o christ_n have_v suffer_v and_o that_o death_n which_o he_o have_v sustain_v be_v only_o for_o thy_o remedy_n and_o behoove_v and_o that_o by_o such_o mean_v he_o will_v make_v satisfaction_n for_o thy_o sin_n and_o leave_v to_o thou_o the_o treasure_n of_o his_o redemption_n and_o mercy_n if_o thou_o be_v willing_a to_o help_v thyself_o therewith_o call_v i_o say_v these_o and_o the_o like_a thing_n to_o thy_o remembrance_n they_o may_v cause_v thou_o to_o rejoice_v and_o be_v glad_a in_o hope_n that_o by_o this_o help_n thou_o may_v again_o recover_v that_o infinite_a treasure_n which_o thou_o have_v lose_v and_o he_o by_o this_o mean_n have_v purchase_v for_o thou_o the_o eight_o and_o last_o manner_n of_o meditation_n upon_o this_o bless_a passion_n be_v by_o way_n of_o love_n for_o because_o the_o principal_a fruit_n which_o thou_o may_v seem_v to_o gather_v of_o that_o thou_o have_v meditate_v upon_o be_v a_o certain_a exceed_a tender_a love_n of_o our_o lord_n himself_o which_o so_o vouchsafe_v to_o suffer_v and_o die_v for_o thou_o and_o now_o that_o thou_o may_v in_o all_o these_o manner_n and_o way_n of_o meditation_n know_v the_o better_a how_o to_o proceed_v these_o instruction_n and_o declaration_n follow_v may_v serve_v thy_o turn_n declaration_n of_o the_o say_a sort_n and_o manner_n of_o meditation_n upon_o the_o bless_a passion_n and_o first_o concern_v the_o first_o kind_n call_v historical_a or_o literal_a the_o first_o manner_n how_o to_o be_v occupy_v in_o meditation_n upon_o the_o most_o bless_a passion_n of_o our_o redeemer_n we_o have_v say_v it_o may_v be_v term_v historical_a or_o literal_a because_o in_o it_o we_o presuppose_v chief_o that_o the_o history_n of_o thing_n which_o happen_v and_o come_v to_o pass_v be_v therein_o contain_v upon_o the_o which_o foundation_n all_o the_o other_o sort_n of_o meditation_n be_v ground_v which_o we_o have_v before_o specify_v and_o therefore_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o this_o kind_n and_o sort_n go_v before_o the_o other_o beside_o that_o this_o remembrance_n what_o thing_n christ_n suffer_v be_v of_o itself_o laudable_a enough_o and_o commend_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n as_o it_o appear_v in_o that_o which_o the_o prophet_n jeremie_n in_o person_n of_o our_o lord_n
