abrogate_a and_o to_o prevent_v that_o intemperance_n and_o abuse_n they_o have_v introduce_v it_o general_o prevail_v to_o receive_v this_o sacrament_n fast_v but_o whatever_o fault_n may_v be_v high_a privilege_n as_o to_o be_v admit_v to_o this_o sacrament_n or_o of_o such_o excellent_a benefit_n as_o be_v confer_v upon_o we_o in_o it_o after_o all_o our_o care_n after_o all_o our_o preparation_n to_o make_v ourselves_o fit_a yet_o still_o we_o must_v acknowledge_v ourselves_o unworthy_a but_o to_o pick_v up_o the_o crumb_n that_o fall_v from_o our_o master_n table_n much_o more_o to_o sit_v and_o feast_v at_o it_o if_o we_o be_v not_o to_o receive_v this_o sacrament_n till_o we_o can_v account_v ourselves_o real_o worthy_a the_o best_a of_o man_n the_o more_o holy_a and_o humble_a they_o be_v the_o more_o averse_a will_v they_o be_v from_o this_o duty_n 2._o this_o unworthiness_n be_v no_o bar_n or_o hindrance_n to_o our_o receive_v this_o sacrament_n we_o be_v not_o worthy_a of_o the_o least_o mercy_n either_o spiritual_a or_o temporal_a which_o we_o enjoy_v must_v we_o therefore_o starve_v ourselves_o or_o go_v naked_a because_o we_o deserve_v not_o our_o food_n or_o raiment_n we_o be_v not_o worthy_a so_o much_o as_o to_o cast_v up_o our_o eye_n towards_o heaven_n the_o habitation_n of_o god_n holiness_n but_o what_o then_o shall_v we_o never_o make_v our_o humble_a address_n to_o the_o throne_n of_o god_n grace_n because_o we_o be_v not_o worthy_a to_o ask_v or_o to_o have_v our_o petition_n hear_v and_o grant_v by_o he_o shall_v we_o refuse_v any_o favour_n the_o kindness_n of_o heaven_n offer_v to_o we_o because_o they_o be_v beyond_o our_o merit_n or_o more_o than_o we_o can_v challenge_v or_o expect_v it_o be_v not_o say_v here_o in_o the_o text_n he_o that_o be_v unworthy_a to_o eat_v and_o drink_v of_o this_o sacrament_n if_o he_o do_v it_o eat_v and_o drink_v damnation_n to_o himself_o if_o it_o be_v than_o indeed_o we_o may_v all_o be_v just_o afraid_a of_o come_v to_o this_o royal_a feast_n but_o he_o that_o eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o now_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o difference_n between_o these_o two_o thing_n between_o a_o man_n be_v unworthy_a to_o receive_v this_o sacrament_n and_o his_o receive_n it_o unworthy_o which_o i_o shall_v thus_o illustrate_v he_o for_o example_n who_o have_v gross_o upon_o he_o so_o we_o be_v all_o unworthy_a to_o partake_v of_o this_o holy_a banquet_n but_o be_v invite_v and_o admit_v we_o may_v behave_v ourselves_o as_o become_v we_o in_o such_o a_o presence_n at_o such_o a_o solemnity_n and_o if_o by_o it_o we_o thankful_o commemorate_v the_o death_n of_o our_o lord_n and_o renounce_v all_o our_o sin_n and_o former_a evil_a way_n and_o there_o give_v up_o ourselves_o to_o be_v govern_v by_o he_o and_o vow_v better_a obedience_n and_o be_v affect_v with_o a_o true_a sense_n of_o his_o love_n then_o though_o unworthy_a of_o so_o great_a a_o favour_n favour_n we_o also_o receive_v it_o unworthy_o after_o a_o profane_a disorderly_a manner_n not_o at_o a_o mind_v the_o end_n use_v or_o design_n of_o it_o without_o any_o repentance_n for_o sin_n past_a or_o resolution_n of_o amendment_n for_o the_o future_a and_o without_o any_o grateful_a affection_n of_o love_n towards_o our_o saviour_n die_v for_o we_o we_o do_v by_o this_o mean_n indeed_o they_o the_o joy_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n the_o sense_n or_o hope_n of_o god_n love_n and_o favour_n the_o inward_a satisfaction_n of_o our_o own_o mind_n and_o thought_n these_o thing_n will_v wonderful_o carry_v we_o through_o all_o those_o difficulty_n and_o adversity_n which_o we_o shall_v meet_v with_o in_o the_o world_n and_o be_v able_a to_o uphold_v and_o cheer_v our_o heart_n under_o the_o great_a pressure_n and_o hardship_n but_o when_o a_o man_n mind_n itself_o be_v disturb_v and_o disquiet_v where_o shall_v he_o seek_v for_o where_o can_v he_o find_v any_o ease_n or_o remedy_n this_o seem_v to_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o wiseman_n in_o the_o 18_o of_o the_o proverb_n the_o 14_o verse_n the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n will_v sustain_v his_o infirmity_n but_o a_o will_v not_o be_v able_a to_o free_v we_o from_o the_o disturbance_n and_o anxiety_n of_o a_o evil_a conscience_n or_o to_o quiet_a and_o settle_v our_o mind_n when_o harassed_a and_o torture_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o guilt_n and_o this_o shall_v lead_v i_o to_o the_o second_o thing_n i_o propound_v which_o be_v ii_o to_o consider_v these_o word_n more_o general_o as_o they_o may_v be_v apply_v to_o man_n in_o all_o state_n and_o condition_n and_o then_o they_o propound_v to_o we_o this_o rule_n which_o we_o shall_v always_o live_v by_o namely_o that_o we_o shall_v upon_o no_o consideration_n whatever_o do_v any_o thing_n that_o our_o mind_n or_o conscience_n reprove_v we_o for_o and_o this_o be_v the_o just_a character_n of_o a_o honest_a man_n and_o of_o one_o fit_a to_o reason_n at_o all_o or_o how_o can_v we_o think_v that_o those_o thing_n which_o we_o believe_v but_o without_o any_o sufficient_a convince_a motive_n or_o evidence_n shall_v outweigh_v those_o thing_n which_o we_o be_v more_o certain_a of_o which_o we_o daily_o see_v feel_v and_o experience_n such_o as_o be_v the_o present_a sensible_a pleasure_n and_o the_o visible_a good_a and_o evil_a thing_n of_o this_o life_n this_o therefore_o be_v one_o great_a reason_n of_o the_o inefficacy_n of_o man_n faith_n that_o their_o belief_n of_o these_o great_a truth_n be_v never_o well_o root_v lust_n be_v check_v and_o cross_v by_o the_o hope_n and_o fear_n of_o another_o life_n make_v the_o shrewd_a objection_n against_o the_o principle_n of_o religion_n and_o do_v with_o all_o their_o force_n and_o power_n oppose_v the_o entertainment_n of_o they_o in_o our_o mind_n and_o on_o the_o success_n of_o this_o contest_v do_v especial_o depend_v the_o efficacy_n of_o our_o faith_n thus_o
