stead_n of_o wholesome_a food_n as_o for_o example_n in_o stead_n of_o the_o pure_a word_n of_o god_n the_o spiritual_a manna_n the_o sincere_a milk_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o sacrament_n institute_v by_o our_o saviour_n christ_n humane_a tradition_n and_o invention_n will-worship_n and_o our_o own_o superstitious_a devotion_n which_o have_v no_o ground_n or_o warrant_v out_o of_o the_o scripture_n nor_o scarce_o any_o resemblance_n of_o that_o holy_a and_o wholesome_a food_n which_o be_v by_o god_n appoint_v for_o our_o nourishment_n of_o which_o meat_n the_o more_o liberal_o we_o feed_v the_o more_o lean_a and_o lank_a we_o wax_v in_o our_o spiritual_a strength_n and_o stature_n the_o more_o feeble_a and_o faint_a we_o grow_v in_o all_o save_a grace_n because_o howsoever_o it_o be_v sweet_a to_o our_o natural_a and_o carnal_a appetite_n yet_o it_o be_v of_o a_o quite_o contrary_a quality_n to_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o grace_n and_o gift_n thereof_o and_o it_o be_v no_o better_a than_o the_o devil_n most_o artificial_a poison_n which_o cause_n they_o that_o taste_n and_o feed_v of_o they_o to_o waste_v and_o wear_v away_o in_o a_o continual_a consumption_n of_o all_o piety_n and_o true_a godliness_n second_o we_o must_v beware_v that_o we_o do_v not_o provide_v for_o this_o spiritual_a warfare_n carnal_a weapon_n and_o munition_n for_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v the_o weapon_n of_o our_o warfare_n 4._o 2_o cor._n 10._o 4._o be_v not_o carnal_a but_o suitable_a unto_o the_o spirit_n itself_o and_o mighty_a through_o god_n to_o the_o pull_v down_o of_o which_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o like_o all_o other_o their_o devotion_n a_o bodily_a exercise_n consist_v in_o their_o superstitious_a abstinence_n from_o certain_a meat_n contrary_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o call_v it_o a_o doctrine_n of_o devil_n and_o teach_v we_o that_o all_o the_o creature_n 1_o 1_o tim._n 4._o 1._o 3._o 1_o of_o god_n be_v clean_o if_o they_o be_v sanctify_v by_o the_o word_n and_o prayer_n and_o allow_v the_o use_n of_o all_o the_o dainty_a fish_n and_o delicate_a wine_n and_o fruit_n which_o pamper_n the_o flesh_n more_o than_o the_o moderate_a use_n of_o ordinary_a diet_n but_o as_o occasion_n serve_v we_o must_v use_v total_a abstinence_n when_o we_o will_v tame_v the_o flesh_n and_o humble_a ourselves_o before_o god_n yet_o not_o like_o they_o rest_v in_o the_o deed_n do_v much_o less_o esteem_v it_o satisfactory_a and_o meritorious_a but_o only_o use_v it_o as_o
