it_o and_o whole_o accomplish_v it_o in_o the_o text_n itself_o we_o have_v a_o further_a description_n of_o christ_n in_o relation_n to_o his_o church_n and_o that_o from_o three_o head_n especial_o first_o from_o his_o affection_n in_o general_n he_o that_o love_v we_o second_o from_o the_o discovery_n of_o this_o affection_n in_o particular_a and_o have_v wash_v we_o from_o our_o sin_n in_o his_o own_o blood_n three_o from_o the_o consequent_a effect_n or_o result_v of_o it_o and_o have_v make_v we_o king_n and_o priest_n unto_o god_n and_o his_o father_n etc._n etc._n we_o begin_v with_o the_o first_o of_o these_o part_n viz._n christ_n affection_n propound_v in_o general_n unto_o he_o that_o love_v we_o where_o there_o be_v a_o double_a emphasis_n considerable_a the_o one_o as_o fasten_v upon_o the_o action_n and_o the_o other_o as_o fasten_v upon_o the_o person_n if_o we_o lay_v it_o in_o the_o action_n so_o the_o point_n will_v be_v this_o that_o christ_n bear_v a_o special_a love_n and_o affection_n to_o his_o people_n if_o we_o lay_v it_o upon_o the_o person_n so_o the_o point_n will_v be_v this_o that_o none_o do_v so_o true_o and_o proper_o love_v the_o comprehend_v with_o all_o saint_n what_o be_v the_o breadth_n and_o length_n and_o height_n and_o depth_n and_o may_v know_v the_o love_n of_o christ_n that_o pass_v knowledge_n ephes_n 3.16_o 17_o etc._n etc._n to_o know_v the_o love_n of_o christ_n that_o be_v sensible_o and_o experimental_o in_o themselves_o by_o the_o power_n and_o virtue_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n shed_v it_o abroad_o in_o their_o heart_n as_o it_o be_v in_o rom._n 5.5_o this_o be_v know_v and_o discern_v by_o such_o note_n aâ—_n be_v most_o proper_a and_o peculiar_a to_o it_o we_o may_v know_v that_o christ_n have_v we_o in_o regard_n of_o our_o natural_a sustenance_n and_o the_o food_n of_o our_o body_n the_o strength_n which_o come_v by_o it_o it_o be_v not_o convey_v present_o but_o by_o leisure_n when_o the_o meat_n be_v digest_v indeed_o there_o be_v delight_n and_o sweetness_n and_o pleasantness_n even_o in_o the_o very_a first_o go_v down_o of_o it_o but_o the_o strength_n of_o it_o that_o come_v after_o it_o even_o so_o be_v it_o likewise_o here_o as_o to_o these_o spiritual_a thing_n the_o sweetness_n of_o the_o ordinance_n that_o be_v in_o the_o very_a partake_n of_o they_o and_o in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o use_v of_o they_o in_o pray_v and_o hear_v and_o communicate_v and_o meditate_v etc._n etc._n a_o gracious_a heart_n it_o do_v taste_v and_o relish_v they_o even_o then_o when_o it_o rest_n who_o have_v large_a experience_n of_o his_o provision_n for_o they_o in_o all_o particular_n in_o blessing_n of_o heaven_n above_o and_o in_o blessing_n of_o the_o earth_n beneath_o who_o he_o do_v daily_o load_v with_o his_o benefit_n as_o the_o psalmist_n express_v it_o psal_n 68.29_o and_o they_o be_v to_o he_o as_o a_o water_v garden_n this_o it_o proceed_v in_o he_o from_o his_o own_o free_a love_n and_o grace_n bounty_n and_o liberality_n it_o need_v no_o other_o motive_n than_o itself_o for_o the_o express_v and_o manifest_v of_o it_o he_o have_v mercy_n upon_o who_o he_o will_v to_o do_v that_o which_o he_o require_v of_o we_o but_o be_v willing_a rather_o to_o do_v it_o ourselves_o as_o he_o be_v here_o for_o we_o while_o the_o nature_n of_o thing_n do_v so_o require_v it_o so_o long_o indeed_o he_o supply_v we_o by_o his_o spirit_n who_o he_o send_v to_o comfort_v we_o in_o his_o stead_n but_o as_o soon_o as_o ever_o he_o can_v with_o any_o convenience_n he_o take_v care_n to_o come_v to_o we_o himself_o and_o thereby_o to_o bring_v we_o to_o heaven_n thou_o shall_v guide_v i_o by_o thy_o counsel_n and_o afterward_o shall_v bring_v i_o to_o glory_n psal_n 73.25_o that_o he_o and_o his_o member_n shall_v be_v inseparable_o join_v together_o and_o continual_o one_o with_o another_o this_o be_v one_o thing_n here_o imply_v and_o it_o be_v agreeable_a to_o other_o it_o that_o it_o can_v endure_v to_o have_v the_o person_n that_o be_v so_o belove_v to_o be_v out_o of_o sight_n but_o must_v have_v he_o always_o near_o unto_o it_o and_o so_o be_v it_o also_o in_o a_o spiritual_a sense_n betwixt_o christ_n and_o his_o disciple_n because_o he_o do_v so_o intensive_o love_v they_o therefore_o he_o desire_v to_o have_v they_o always_o with_o he_o because_o he_o do_v so_o passionate_o affect_v they_o therefore_o he_o can_v endure_v to_o think_v of_o they_o to_o be_v out_o of_o his_o sight_n where_o he_o be_v he_o will_v have_v they_o to_o be_v also_o out_o his_o spirit_n but_o when_o they_o shall_v come_v to_o he_o and_o be_v with_o he_o and_o behold_v he_o and_o see_v he_o face_n to_o face_n it_o will_v then_o be_v otherwise_o and_o better_a with_o they_o and_o he_o desire_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v so_o for_o this_o reason_n he_o desire_v that_o they_o may_v be_v where_o he_o be_v that_o so_o they_o may_v see_v that_o which_o he_o see_v and_o apostle_n themselves_o in_o the_o primitive_a time_n of_o the_o church_n but_o even_o likewise_o those_o more_o ordinary_a and_o common_a gift_n which_o man_n receive_v even_o now_o in_o these_o day_n they_o be_v such_o as_o do_v much_o adorn_v and_o advance_v and_o set_v a_o lustre_n upon_o those_o which_o have_v they_o and_o be_v partaker_n of_o they_o three_o and_o especial_o for_o their_o use_n and_o improvement_n and_o those_o gracious_a end_n which_o they_o lead_v unto_o and_o that_o be_v as_o the_o apostle_n himself_o do_v express_v it_o to_o we_o in_o so_o many_o word_n for_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n for_o the_o perfect_a of_o the_o saint_n for_o the_o edify_n of_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n these_o gift_n they_o reach_v to_o these_o end_n ephes_n 4.11_o 12._o every_o thing_n be_v so_o far_o forth_o desirable_a as_o it_o serve_v to_o better_a purpose_n and_o design_n now_o this_o be_v the_o advantage_n of_o spiritual_a gift_n especial_o there_o where_o they_o be_v draw_v out_o into_o their_o full_a extent_n that_o they_o do_v at_o least_o for_o a_o very_a great_a part_n of_o they_o serve_v to_o build_v up_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v give_v to_o every_o one_o to_o profit_v withal_o 1_o cor._n 12.7_o but_o of_o this_o we_o shall_v speak_v more_o anon_o so_o much_o therefore_o now_o for_o that_o viz._n the_o first_o particular_a considerable_a in_o this_o first_o general_n and_o that_o be_v the_o object_n propound_v gift_n the_o second_o be_v the_o qualification_n of_o this_o object_n by_o way_n of_o comparison_n or_o distinction_n and_o that_o be_v the_o best_a or_o better_a gift_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d where_o we_o may_v observe_v two_o thing_n more_o first_o that_o which_o be_v imply_v and_o second_o that_o which_o be_v express_v that_o which_o be_v imply_v be_v this_o that_o there_o be_v some_o gift_n better_o than_o other_o that_o which_o be_v express_v be_v this_o that_o if_o there_o be_v any_o gift_n better_o than_o other_o those_o be_v they_o which_o we_o for_o our_o particular_n of_o all_o other_o be_v to_o apply_v ourselves_o to_o first_o for_o that_o which_o be_v imply_v there_o be_v some_o gift_n which_o be_v better_a than_o other_o this_o be_v here_o suppose_a and_o take_v for_o grant_v while_o the_o apostle_n propound_v the_o better_a gift_n to_o be_v covet_v after_o he_o do_v thereby_o imply_v that_o there_o be_v a_o distinction_n of_o gift_n and_o that_o there_o be_v some_o of_o they_o which_o be_v better_a than_o the_o rest_n and_o so_o there_o be_v though_o all_o in_o their_o kind_n very_o good_a as_o proceed_v each_o of_o they_o from_o one_o and_o the_o selfsame_a spirit_n yet_o there_o be_v a_o difference_n and_o a_o distinction_n among_o they_o according_a to_o that_o which_o we_o have_v in_o the_o four_o verse_n of_o this_o present_a chapter_n distinctiones_fw-la sunt_fw-la donorum_fw-la sed_fw-la idem_fw-la spiritus_fw-la there_o be_v diversity_n or_o distinction_n of_o gift_n so_o some_o render_v the_o word_n but_o the_o same_o spirit_n for_o the_o better_a open_n of_o this_o present_a point_n it_o will_v not_o be_v amiss_o for_o we_o to_o consider_v wherein_o this_o distinction_n do_v consist_v namely_o in_o what_o respect_n some_o gift_n be_v say_v to_o be_v better_a than_o other_o and_o do_v partake_v of_o this_o better_a denomination_n first_o gift_n sometime_o be_v count_v better_o as_o they_o be_v any_o thing_n more_o rare_a and_o unusual_a those_o which_o can_v do_v somewhat_o which_o few_o else_o can_v do_v beside_o they_o do_v from_o hence_o for_o the_o most_o part_n esteem_v themselves_o to_o be_v better_o qualify_v and_o think_v that_o therefore_o
