very_a great_a courage_n or_o a_o very_a little_a opposition_n and_o yet_o if_o we_o consider_v far_o how_o that_o self-preservation_n be_v a_o law_n a_o principle_n implant_v in_o they_o and_o that_o there_o be_v a_o violence_n do_v to_o nature_n in_o very_a suffer_v great_a or_o less_o according_a as_o the_o suffer_a be_v we_o can_v but_o conclude_v that_o these_o and_o the_o like_a consideration_n must_v work_v very_o powerful_o upon_o any_o man_n whosoever_o and_o consequent_o which_o be_v the_o thing_n i_o will_v be_v at_o that_o that_o courage_n which_o engage_v and_o baffle_v they_o all_o and_o buoy_n man_n up_o against_o all_o these_o tumult_n and_o disorder_n of_o the_o mind_n must_v be_v as_o true_o great_a as_o it_o be_v victorious_a and_o successful_a and_o now_o this_o be_v the_o courage_n this_o the_o glory_n of_o our_o suffer_a christian_n who_o brave_o prefer_v torment_n and_o death_n itself_o to_o the_o tempt_v vanity_n of_o the_o world_n bold_o of_o their_o salvation_n do_v before_o they_o not_o my_o will_n but_o thou_o be_v do_v now_o that_o this_o courage_n so_o conspicuous_a in_o they_o do_v true_o and_o real_o deserve_v the_o name_n of_o fortitude_n will_v appear_v from_o the_o general_a notion_n and_o usage_n of_o the_o word_n for_o with_o moralist_n the_o nature_n of_o fortitude_n consist_v in_o a_o mediocrity_n between_o rashness_n not_o sacrifice_v they_o to_o a_o passion_n or_o humour_n but_o consider_v before_o hand_n the_o goodness_n of_o the_o cause_n when_o and_o how_o it_o may_v oblige_v they_o to_o suffer_v with_o all_o the_o other_o circumstance_n and_o as_o for_o the_o other_o extreme_a of_o valour_n fear_v they_o be_v as_o far_o from_o that_o as_o from_o a_o inconsiderate_a fool-hardiness_n they_o fear_v god_n indeed_o but_o that_o be_v a_o fear_n that_o have_v no_o torment_n a_o fear_n that_o be_v consistent_a with_o love_n they_o fear_v he_o and_o for_o that_o reason_n be_v uncapable_a of_o fear_v man_n uncapable_a of_o dread_v even_o the_o torture_n of_o the_o rack_n or_o the_o tedious_a loathsomeness_n of_o a_o dungeon_n because_o from_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n arise_v the_o observance_n of_o his_o command_n and_o he_o that_o keep_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n will_v not_o nor_o need_v he_o fear_v though_o the_o earth_n be_v move_v and_o though_o the_o hill_n be_v carry_v into_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o sea_n so_o then_o they_o will_v not_o be_v afraid_a of_o they_o that_o kill_v the_o body_n and_o after_o that_o have_v no_o more_o that_o they_o can_v do_v why_o because_o they_o fear_v remain_v that_o we_o consider_v the_o excellency_n the_o surpass_v nature_n thereof_o now_o the_o gallantry_n of_o passive_a courage_n be_v such_o as_o be_v beyond_o the_o
