little_a child_n and_o a_o mean_n to_o discourage_v and_o hinder_v they_o if_o they_o will_v be_v hinder_v in_o this_o good_a work_n of_o bring_v their_o child_n to_o christ_n in_o that_o their_o commendable_a practice_n be_v thus_o blame_v and_o condemn_v by_o such_o as_o be_v so_o near_o unto_o christ_n this_o may_v teach_v we_o that_o we_o be_v to_o look_v for_o discouragement_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o other_o in_o good_a duty_n yea_o sometime_o at_o the_o hand_n of_o such_o as_o be_v of_o eminent_a place_n and_o authority_n in_o the_o church_n who_o shall_v rather_o encourage_v and_o further_o we_o in_o such_o duty_n cant._n 5._o 7._o when_o the_o church_n have_v lose_v the_o comfortable_a presence_n of_o christ_n for_o a_o time_n and_o do_v thereupon_o careful_o and_o diligent_o their_o own_o parent_n though_o never_o so_o dear_a unto_o they_o now_o that_o the_o husband_n and_o wife_n may_v thus_o love_v each_o other_o they_o must_v pray_v unto_o god_n daily_o to_o work_v and_o increase_v this_o entire_a love_n between_o they_o and_o to_o unite_v their_o heart_n most_o near_o together_o withal_o they_o must_v often_o meditate_v and_o think_v of_o that_o most_o strait_a bond_n and_o union_n which_o be_v between_o they_o by_o god_n ordinance_n be_v two_o in_o one_o etc._n etc._n they_o must_v also_o inure_v and_o accustom_v themselves_o to_o show_v and_o express_v true_o and_o entire_o affect_v above_o all_o other_o the_o cause_n of_o great_a discontentment_n afterward_o in_o the_o marry_a estate_n yea_o upon_o this_o oftentimes_o follow_v a_o most_o uncomfortable_a and_o hellish_a life_n between_o the_o husband_n and_o wife_n observe_v 3_o observe_v 3._o in_o that_o marry_a person_n be_v to_o forsake_v their_o parent_n in_o comparison_n of_o their_o husband_n and_o wife_n in_o respect_n of_o that_o subjection_n unto_o the_o power_n of_o parents_n whereunto_o they_o be_v tie_v before_o marriage_n hence_o we_o may_v gather_v that_o parent_n ought_v not_o to_o tie_v or_o bind_v their_o child_n after_o marriage_n to_o such_o a_o strait_a kind_n of_o subjection_n obedience_n oâ—_n service_n to_o they_o as_o they_o be_v tie_v unto_o before_o bear_v with_o gross_a sin_n in_o such_o and_o wink_v at_o they_o and_o be_v not_o move_v to_o displeasure_n they_o can_v like_v and_o approve_v of_o the_o fault_n of_o such_o and_o be_v well_o enough_o please_v with_o they_o yea_o they_o can_v commend_v and_o justify_v the_o fault_n of_o such_o as_o if_o they_o be_v virtue_n etc._n etc._n but_o this_o be_v carnal_a love_n which_o hinder_v they_o from_o be_v displease_v at_o the_o sin_n of_o those_o who_o they_o affect_v and_o it_o be_v also_o a_o plain_a argument_n that_o the_o anger_n they_o show_v against_o the_o sin_n of_o other_o who_o person_n they_o affect_v not_o be_v also_o a_o carnal_a and_o sinful_a anger_n and_o nothing_o less_o than_o that_o true_a holy_a zeal_n and_o indignation_n against_o sin_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o they_o for_o if_o it_o be_v a_o holy_a anger_n they_o will_v be_v move_v against_o the_o same_o sin_n in_o their_o friend_n as_o well_o as_o in_o their_o enemy_n observe_v 3_o observe_v 3._o in_o that_o our_o saviour_n be_v not_o only_o displease_v but_o much_o displease_v or_o offend_v at_o his_o disciple_n for_o this_o fault_n and_o sin_n of_o hinder_v the_o little_a child_n from_o be_v keep_v or_o withhold_v from_o the_o sacrament_n of_o baptism_n which_o by_o the_o way_n show_v the_o sin_n of_o such_o parent_n as_o do_v neglect_n or_o defer_v it_o too_o long_o and_o especial_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o anabaptist_n utter_o deny_v that_o sacrament_n to_o infant_n etc._n etc._n also_o by_o parent_n neglect_v to_o pray_v for_o their_o child_n and_o to_o train_v they_o up_o although_o our_o saviour_n do_v propound_v the_o question_n to_o they_o obscure_o in_o figurative_a speech_n yet_o they_o perceive_v what_o he_o meanâ—_n do_v answer_v direct_o affirm_v that_o they_o be_v able_a to_o drink_v of_o the_o cup_n of_o the_o cross_n etc._n etc._n in_o which_o answer_n there_o be_v something_o good_a and_o commendable_a and_o something_o that_o be_v evil_a and_o discommendable_a that_o which_o be_v good_a and_o commendable_a be_v their_o readiness_n and_o forwardness_n to_o partake_v with_o he_o in_o suffer_v the_o cross_n which_o readiness_n they_o show_v and_o discover_v by_o this_o that_o when_o he_o ask_v they_o whether_o they_o can_v suffer_v with_o he_o that_o be_v whether_o they_o be_v able_a and_o fit_a to_o suffer_v with_o he_o they_o do_v not_o hereupon_o show_v any_o sign_n of_o unwillingness_n to_o suffer_v with_o he_o but_o on_o the_o contrary_a they_o present_o profess_v their_o ability_n to_o suffer_v with_o he_o whereby_o they_o imply_v also_o their_o willingness_n etc._n etc._n that_o which_o be_v evil_a and_o discommendable_a in_o their_o answer_n be_v that_o they_o discover_v too_o much_o confidence_n in_o themselves_o and_o presumption_n of_o their_o own_o strength_n and_o ability_n to_o suffer_v the_o cross_n as_o if_o they_o can_v by_o their_o own_o power_n or_o of_o themselves_o drink_v of_o that_o bitter_a cup_n when_o it_o be_v nothing_o so_o but_o all_o the_o ability_n they_o have_v be_v from_o god_n and_o from_o his_o spirit_n strengthen_v they_o thereunto_o in_o this_o respect_n therefore_o their_o answer_n be_v rash_a and_o unadvised_a when_o they_o be_v so_o ready_a to_o affirm_v that_o they_o be_v able_a to_o drink_v of_o the_o same_o cup_n with_o he_o etc._n etc._n now_o one_o cause_n as_o be_v probable_a of_o their_o forwardness_n thus_o to_o profess_v both_o their_o ability_n and_o willingness_n to_o suffer_v with_o he_o be_v the_o earnest_a desire_n they_o have_v by_o this_o mean_n if_o it_o may_v be_v to_o obtain_v their_o suit_n and_o petition_n at_o his_o hand_n observe_v 1_o observe_v 1._o from_o that_o which_o be_v commendable_a here_o in_o the_o disciple_n viz._n their_o readiness_n and_o willingness_n to_o suffer_v the_o cross_n with_o christ_n etc._n etc._n this_o teach_v we_o that_o we_o shall_v after_o their_o example_n be_v ready_a willing_a and_o forward_o to_o suffer_v the_o cross_n and_o affliction_n in_o this_o world_n for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n when_o we_o be_v call_v to_o it_o herein_o we_o be_v to_o imitate_v these_o two_o disciple_n of_o christ_n who_o here_o profess_v and_o show_v themselves_o forward_o to_o drink_v of_o the_o cup_n of_o the_o cross_n etc._n etc._n the_o like_a forwardness_n peter_n and_o the_o rest_n show_v also_o afterward_o luke_n 22._o 33._o peter_n profess_v himself_o ready_a to_o go_v with_o he_o both_o into_o prison_n and_o to_o death_n and_o matth._n 26._o 35._o they_o all_o profess_a that_o if_o they_o
