and_o every_o way_n to_o take_v care_n that_o they_o neither_o perish_v or_o be_v make_v miserable_a but_o godly_a parent_n in_o who_o natural_a affection_n be_v sanctify_v and_o improve_v by_o to_o this_o happiness_n and_o the_o spirit_n for_o their_o sanctifier_n to_o fit_v they_o for_o this_o happiness_n so_o they_o that_o love_v their_o child_n with_o this_o holy_a love_n will_v desire_v and_o endeavour_v that_o they_o be_v partaker_n with_o they_o of_o the_o same_o happiness_n 2._o i_o proceed_v to_o give_v you_o three_o character_n of_o ungodly_a child_n 1._o they_o be_v such_o child_n as_o will_v not_o be_v subject_a to_o the_o authority_n of_o their_o parent_n the_o reverence_n of_o child_n to_o their_o parent_n be_v so_o incorporate_v into_o the_o whole_a body_n of_o never_o have_v comfort_n in_o your_o child_n till_o they_o cry_v to_o god_n abba_n father_n teach_v they_o to_o know_v and_o prize_n and_o long_o for_o the_o lords-supper_n and_o therein_o to_o take_v christ_n and_o all_o salvation_n in_o a_o little_a bread_n and_o wine_n teach_v they_o to_o honour_n and_o delight_n in_o the_o lordsday_n as_o the_o diamond_n in_o the_o ring_n of_o time_n those_o child_n be_v always_o the_o honour_n and_o joy_n of_o their_o godly_a parent_n who_o make_v conscience_n to_o keep_v holy_a the_o lordsday_n 6._o make_v they_o sensible_a that_o time_n be_v short_a and_o precious_a that_o a_o eternity_n of_o glory_n and_o misery_n be_v at_o hand_n and_o that_o death_n and_o judgement_n and_o heaven_n or_o hell_n be_v at_o the_o door_n of_o young_a child_n i_o shall_v further_o add_v five_o direction_n to_o godly_a parent_n to_o prevent_v this_o sad_a calamity_n 1._o labour_v to_o save_v your_o child_n from_o those_o sin_n which_o provoke_v god_n and_o will_v destroy_v they_o as_o well_o as_o from_o those_o sin_n which_o will_v also_o bring_v loss_n and_o reproach_n upon_o you_o some_o be_v sad_o affect_v to_o see_v their_o child_n give_v to_o drunkenness_n or_o whoredom_n or_o the_o like_a sin_n but_o be_v not_o so_o much_o concern_v for_o their_o unbelief_n and_o impenitency_n and_o want_v of_o love_n to_o god_n and_o for_o their_o covetousness_n which_o show_v such_o parent_n to_o have_v too_o much_o of_o the_o love_n of_o the_o world_n and_o too_o little_a love_n to_o god_n and_o their_o child_n soul_n but_o we_o must_v take_v our_o measure_n of_o the_o evil_a and_o danger_n of_o sin_n from_o the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o tell_v we_o 1_o cor._n 6.9_o 10._o that_o the_o covetous_a as_o well_o as_o drunkard_n and_o whoremonger_n shall_v not_o inherit_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o this_o will_v teach_v parent_n not_o only_o to_o mourn_v over_o a_o debauch_a child_n but_o also_o over_o a_o covetous_a though_o he_o be_v a_o wealthy_a child_n 2._o
that_o death_n be_v near_o whatever_o you_o think_v of_o your_o life_n they_o will_v be_v but_o as_o a_o vapour_n or_o shadow_n or_o smoke_n as_o god_n speak_v they_o to_o be_v and_o though_o you_o put_v death_n far_o from_o you_o yet_o it_o will_v be_v within_o a_o hands-breadth_n of_o you_o one_o day_n or_o hour_n may_v put_v a_o end_n to_o your_o space_n of_o repentance_n and_o conclude_v your_o day_n of_o grace_n and_o salvation_n and_o dispatch_v you_o into_o that_o world_n where_o no_o new_a creature_n be_v make_v you_o now_o defy_v death_n as_o if_o you_o be_v a_o fit_a match_n for_o the_o king_n of_o terror_n you_o scorn_v the_o grave_n and_o scoff_n at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n and_o deride_v everlasting_a burn_n but_o when_o god_n shall_v pour_v upon_o you_o your_o own_o wickedness_n jer._n 14.16_o than_o you_o will_v too_o late_o condemn_v yourselves_o for_o fool_n when_o you_o come_v to_o reap_v the_o fruit_n of_o your_o own_o folly_n second_o i_o come_v to_o receive_v you_o in_o love_n and_o joy_n but_o it_o will_v short_o be_v too_o late_o to_o repent_v though_o it_o can_v never_o be_v too_o soon_o dear_a child_n you_o must_v either_o persuade_v yourselves_o that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v a_o lie_n and_o so_o think_v you_o be_v secure_a from_o hell_n because_o you_o deny_v the_o bible_n that_o threaten_v it_o or_o you_o must_v presume_v that_o you_o be_v not_o ungodly_a child_n as_o indeed_o you_o be_v or_o else_o you_o must_v conclude_v that_o your_o present_a state_n be_v not_o safe_a and_o good_a and_o that_o therefore_o you_o must_v either_o repent_v or_o be_v damn_v and_o perhaps_o the_o devil_n himself_o do_v not_o tempt_v you_o to_o resolve_v that_o you_o will_v never_o repent_v but_o to_o think_v that_o it_o be_v yet_o time_n enough_o and_o that_o therefore_o you_o will_v repent_v hereafter_o i_o have_v sometime_o dread_v to_o hear_v debauch_a child_n confident_o say_v that_o they_o do_v not_o question_v but_o be_v as_o brier_n and_o thorn_n and_o weed_n in_o the_o family_n they_o be_v the_o crown_n and_o joy_n and_o you_o the_o calamity_n of_o your_o parent_n all_o that_o see_v they_o may_v look_v upon_o they_o as_o a_o seed_n who_o the_o lord_n have_v bless_v but_o all_o that_o see_v you_o have_v reason_n to_o judge_v you_o to_o be_v a_o curse_a generation_n poor_a child_n be_v it_o better_a to_o
