go_v away_o without_o profit_n the_o lord_n bring_v upon_o we_o some_o great_a afterward_o see_v he_o be_v purpose_v thereby_o most_o assure_o to_o do_v we_o good_a moreover_o by_o this_o we_o know_v that_o whereas_o every_o man_n desire_v that_o which_o be_v best_a for_o he_o and_o yet_o most_o man_n err_v in_o the_o particular_n desire_v that_o which_o be_v most_o pleasant_a profitable_a honourable_a etc._n etc._n in_o this_o world_n that_o in_o deed_n be_v best_a for_o we_o at_o all_o time_n whatsoever_o it_o be_v which_o make_v most_o for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n in_o we_o our_o own_o salvation_n and_o the_o edify_n of_o our_o brethren_n which_o because_o the_o lord_n work_v many_o time_n by_o affliction_n as_o we_o have_v hear_v even_o they_o then_o be_v best_a for_o a_o man_n even_o as_o when_o a_o man_n body_n be_v so_o distemper_a and_o some_o member_n so_o putrify_v than_o it_o be_v best_o for_o he_o to_o have_v his_o blood_n take_v away_o from_o he_o to_o be_v lance_v and_o sear_v yea_o to_o have_v a_o part_n cut_v off_o therefore_o when_o any_o affliction_n or_o calamity_n do_v befall_v we_o let_v we_o not_o be_v discontent_v therewith_o or_o be_v impatient_a but_o submit_v our_o judgement_n &_o will_n to_o the_o judgement_n and_o will_n of_o god_n let_v we_o quiet_o endure_v see_v the_o lord_n give_v we_o that_o not_o which_o we_o fond_o desire_v as_o the_o best_a but_o which_o he_o know_v to_o be_v and_o be_v indeed_o the_o best_a now_o see_v it_o be_v so_o what_o then_o i_o pray_v you_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o not_o only_o the_o wicked_a but_o even_o the_o godly_a which_o ought_v to_o know_v this_o and_o to_o believe_v it_o do_v so_o grievous_o complain_v of_o there_o affliction_n as_o david_n job_n and_o the_o rest_n as_o though_o they_o shall_v be_v hurt_v thereby_o when_o as_o we_o have_v see_v they_o work_v their_o good_a and_o therefore_o be_v best_a for_o they_o true_o it_o can_v not_o be_v deny_v but_o that_o man_n for_o the_o most_o part_n do_v more_o complain_v of_o their_o affliction_n then_o they_o ought_v to_o do_v and_o do_v not_o so_o comfortable_o bear_v they_o as_o they_o shall_v yet_o this_o hinder_v not_o but_o that_o man_n shall_v get_v good_a by_o their_o affliction_n and_o be_v also_o persuade_v thereof_o though_o they_o be_v full_a of_o complaint_n whilst_o they_o be_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o for_o who_o complain_v more_o than_o these_o two_o man_n and_o yet_o who_o have_v more_o profit_n and_o get_v great_a good_a of_o they_o then_o they_o for_o such_o be_v our_o nature_n that_o we_o must_v needs_o have_v the_o feel_n of_o affliction_n unless_o our_o heart_n be_v hard_o like_o iron_n or_o brass_n and_o so_o we_o be_v stock_n and_o no_o man_n but_o see_v it_o be_v otherwise_o that_o our_o heart_n be_v soft_a and_o tender_a it_o can_v not_o be_v but_o that_o every_o thing_n shall_v work_v upon_o we_o and_o we_o be_v move_v according_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o to_o joy_n sorrow_n love_n hatred_n anger_n and_o fear_v and_o therefore_o tribulation_n must_v needs_o trouble_v we_o and_o affliction_n afflict_v and_o the_o cross_n crucify_v and_o yet_o we_o may_v be_v persuade_v that_o it_o be_v for_o our_o good_a and_o look_v for_o it_o from_o thence_o even_o as_o the_o sick_a patient_n can_v not_o as_o he_o be_v man_n but_o feel_v the_o lance_a and_o sear_v of_o his_o flesh_n and_o so_o complain_v of_o it_o with_o great_a grief_n yea_o cry_v out_o for_o the_o extremity_n of_o pain_n though_o he_o know_v it_o to_o be_v best_a for_o he_o then_o and_o therefore_o after_o a_o sort_n do_v most_o willing_o suffer_v it_o but_o many_o other_o be_v so_o full_a of_o complaint_n in_o their_o affliction_n because_o they_o be_v not_o persuade_v at_o that_o time_n that_o the_o very_a thing_n be_v send_v for_o their_o special_a good_a and_o therefore_o such_o be_v to_o meditate_v upon_o that_o which_o we_o have_v already_o speak_v concern_v this_o matter_n in_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o this_o verse_n when_o he_o say_v to_o they_o that_o love_n god_n as_o he_o thereby_o restrain_v this_o general_a promise_n so_o he_o show_v to_o who_o it_o appertain_v namely_o to_o those_o that_o believe_v in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o be_v sanctify_v by_o his_o spirit_n for_o he_o intreat_v of_o the_o certainty_n of_o the_o salvation_n of_o such_o now_o the_o true_a and_o faithful_a believer_n as_o he_o have_v before_o discern_v they_o from_o other_o by_o this_o fruit_n of_o faith_n namely_o sanctification_n so_o he_o do_v here_o by_o one_o part_n of_o it_o which_o be_v love_n as_o in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o galat._n chap._n 5._o vers_fw-la 6._o so_o that_o under_o one_o kind_n he_o comprehend_v all_o godliness_n but_o he_o take_v this_o thing_n rather_o than_o any_o other_o as_o most_o fit_n for_o his_o purpose_n for_o speak_v of_o affliction_n he_o say_v by_o this_o we_o shall_v try_v our_o faith_n if_o our_o love_n unto_o to_o god_n continue_v even_o then_o for_o whereas_o the_o wicked_a will_v pretend_v to_o love_n god_n in_o prosperity_n but_o in_o adversity_n they_o fall_v unto_o hatred_n yea_o unto_o plain_a curse_v and_o ban_v he_o that_o true_o love_v god_n love_v he_o not_o for_o his_o back_n and_o belly_n alone_o nor_o principal_o but_o because_o he_o be_v goodness_n itself_o and_o therefore_o to_o be_v love_v and_o herein_o the_o one_o bewray_fw-fr their_o servile_a nature_n that_o like_o as_o servant_n love_v not_o their_o master_n if_o they_o once_o begin_v to_o correct_v they_o and_o the_o other_o their_o liberal_a and_o childish_a disposition_n who_o no_o correction_n or_o stripe_n of_o the_o father_n can_v make_v to_o change_v their_o love_n to_o he_o much_o less_o drive_v away_o from_o he_o this_o be_v that_o which_o satan_n know_v general_o to_o be_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n think_v to_o have_v find_v in_o job_n though_o he_o be_v deceive_v when_o he_o say_v do_v job_n love_n or_o fear_n god_n for_o nothing_o have_v not_o thou_o be_v a_o hedge_n round_o about_o he_o but_o touch_v all_o that_o he_o have_v and_o see_v if_o he_o will_v not_o blaspheme_v thou_o to_o thy_o face_n therefore_o if_o in_o affliction_n we_o cease_v not_o to_o love_n god_n and_o in_o love_n to_o serve_v he_o we_o shall_v be_v sure_a that_o he_o will_v fulfil_v this_o promise_n to_o we_o of_o turn_v all_o thing_n to_o our_o good_a moreover_o see_v that_o the_o apostle_n purpose_n be_v to_o entreat_v of_o patience_n in_o affliction_n this_o no_o doubt_n be_v most_o fit_a for_o the_o purpose_n namely_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o love_n which_o we_o ought_v to_o bear_v unto_o god_n for_o if_o that_o in_o worldly_a matter_n we_o will_v bear_v many_o great_a thing_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o they_o who_o we_o love_v as_o the_o child_n at_o the_o mother_n the_o husband_n at_o the_o wife_n and_o one_o friend_n at_o another_o then_o how_o much_o more_o ought_v we_o to_o bear_v all_o thing_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n who_o we_o know_v so_o love_v we_o in_o christ_n and_o therefore_o we_o ought_v so_o to_o love_v he_o again_o and_o no_o doubt_n will_v bear_v if_o there_o be_v that_o love_n in_o we_o unto_o he_o which_o aught_o when_o he_o add_v in_o the_o same_o verse_n which_o be_v call_v of_o his_o purpose_n as_o he_o do_v further_o show_v to_o who_o this_o promise_n do_v appertain_v even_o to_o such_o so_o he_o show_v the_o cause_n of_o it_o which_o be_v not_o any_o worthiness_n of_o they_o or_o right_o be_v have_v themselves_o under_o the_o cross_n as_o thereby_o deserve_v it_o but_o the_o free_a love_n of_o god_n whereby_o he_o before_o the_o beginning_n purpose_v to_o do_v they_o good_a which_o purpose_n of_o he_o nothing_o can_v alter_v but_o he_o make_v all_o thing_n to_o further_o it_o even_o affliction_n so_o that_o thus_o he_o declare_v the_o certainty_n of_o this_o for_o what_o can_v hinder_v the_o purpose_n of_o god_n nothing_o and_o therefore_o affliction_n can_v not_o hinder_v the_o good_a of_o his_o child_n see_v that_o he_o have_v purpose_v to_o do_v they_o good_a which_o purpose_n of_o he_o appear_v by_o their_o effectual_a call_n and_o therefore_o when_o he_o have_v purpose_v to_o save_v they_o he_o call_v they_o in_o time_n to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o it_o and_o from_o thence_o it_o come_v that_o the_o word_n be_v effectual_a to_o they_o when_o it_o be_v unprofitable_a unto_o other_o so_o the_o lord_n continue_v the_o same_o purpose_n of_o he_o
that_o we_o can_v not_o find_v in_o our_o heart_n to_o forgive_v they_o sure_o even_o this_o because_o we_o do_v only_o look_v upon_o the_o hurt_n do_v unto_o we_o we_o muse_v upon_o that_o we_o make_v much_o ado_n about_o that_o and_o so_o marveilous_o weigh_v what_o loss_n we_o have_v by_o it_o on_o every_o side_n but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n we_o do_v not_o consider_v the_o soul_n of_o he_o that_o do_v we_o the_o injury_n continue_v in_o impenitency_n for_o than_o we_o shall_v be_v drive_v to_o pity_v he_o for_o the_o danger_n before_o god_n and_o not_o hate_v he_o for_o our_o loss_n before_o man_n the_o want_n of_o this_o be_v the_o only_a cause_n then_o why_o we_o be_v so_o hateful_a and_o malicious_a towards_o our_o enemy_n which_o have_v injury_v we_o because_o we_o look_v upon_o our_o own_o harm_n and_o not_o on_o the_o harm_n of_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n before_o god_n but_o we_o must_v do_v it_o certain_o the_o lord_n jesus_n command_v we_o pray_v for_o your_o enemy_n do_v good_a to_o they_o that_o hate_v you_o and_o here_o bid_v we_o love_n as_o he_o love_v we_o even_o enemy_n to_o he_o well_o then_o good_a brethren_n thus_o you_o have_v hear_v how_o by_o the_o love_n that_o christ_n love_v we_o we_o be_v teach_v to_o frame_v our_o love_n one_o towards_o another_o even_o towards_o our_o enemy_n in_o pity_v they_o pray_v for_o they_o that_o they_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o amendment_n not_o for_o the_o hurt_n do_v unto_o we_o but_o for_o the_o avoid_v of_o the_o hurt_n of_o their_o soul_n i_o have_v be_v somewhat_o more_o long_o in_o this_o matter_n of_o love_n towards_o our_o enemy_n because_o i_o know_v it_o be_v so_o hard_a a_o matter_n for_o flesh_n and_o blood_n to_o be_v satisfy_v in_o this_o point_n to_o stay_v from_o revengement_n it_o be_v marvellous_a near_o grow_v into_o the_o corruption_n of_o our_o nature_n and_o therefore_o it_o must_v be_v more_o careful_o take_v heed_n of_o we_o and_o we_o must_v bend_v our_o force_n more_o to_o resist_v it_o and_o so_o shall_v we_o not_o only_o be_v hearer_n of_o this_o lesson_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n but_o also_o follower_n of_o the_o same_o and_o yet_o further_o when_o he_o say_v that_o we_o must_v love_v one_o another_o as_o he_o love_v we_o he_o give_v we_o to_o understand_v that_o our_o love_n must_v be_v sincere_a without_o respect_n of_o gain_n or_o advantage_n such_o love_n then_o as_o be_v common_o among_o we_o norfolk_n man_n will_v not_o serve_v that_o be_v to_o love_v a_o man_n as_o long_o as_o we_o can_v get_v any_o profit_n by_o he_o and_o then_o farewell_n yet_o this_o be_v so_o common_a among_o we_o as_o be_v marvellous_a there_o be_v scarce_o find_v among_o we_o any_o other_o love_n then_o that_o which_o be_v for_o gain_v a_o lamentable_a thing_n if_o we_o have_v money_n enough_o we_o make_v our_o account_n to_o get_v friend_n enough_o and_o without_o money_n or_o hope_n of_o gain_n we_o shall_v hardly_o find_v any_o great_a store_n of_o friend_n be_v this_o the_o love_n good_a brother_n which_o ought_v to_o be_v among_o we_o alas_o no_o such_o love_n may_v be_v find_v among_o the_o very_a devil_n in_o hell_n and_o yet_o we_o will_v be_v christian_n forsooth_o yea_o and_o protestant_n to_o but_o it_o be_v but_o only_o in_o name_n for_o christ_n say_v that_o among_o his_o true_a scholar_n love_n must_v not_o be_v for_o advantage_n but_o as_o he_o love_v us._n moreover_o we_o be_v hereby_o teach_v also_o that_o our_o love_n must_v not_o be_v dissemble_v in_o fair_a countenance_n outward_a &_o within_o nothing_o but_o rancour_n and_o malice_n it_o must_v not_o be_v in_o a_o fair_a flatter_a outward_a show_n but_o it_o must_v be_v as_o he_o love_v we_o even_o in_o very_a deed_n from_o the_o bottom_n of_o our_o heart_n from_o our_o heart_n from_o our_o heart_n from_o our_o heart_n oh_o this_o must_v be_v mark_v good_a brethren_n the_o lord_n jesus_n seem_v to_o pluck_v we_o english_a man_n by_o the_o sleeve_n and_o condemn_v our_o fair_a flatter_a dissemble_a love_n which_o reign_v so_o common_o among_o we_o such_o fair_a look_n sugar_a word_n love_v salutation_n and_o courteous_a embrace_n as_o be_o marvellous_a as_o though_o there_o be_v such_o perfect_a love_n and_o friendship_n among_o we_o as_o can_v possible_o be_v require_v and_o yet_o such_o deep_a dissemble_a hatred_n and_o spite_n in_o the_o bottom_n of_o our_o breast_n as_o we_o will_v if_o we_o can_v even_o pull_v their_o heart_n out_o of_o their_o body_n and_o eat_v they_o with_o garlic_n as_o they_o say_v alas_o good_a brethren_n be_v this_o christian_a like_a be_v this_o as_o christ_n love_v we_o no_o no_o it_o be_v judas-like_o fair_a kiss_n &_o false_a dissemble_a heart_n be_v there_o not_o a_o god_n in_o heaven_n think_v you_o to_o revenge_v it_o yes_o no_o doubt_n and_o i_o warrant_v we_o we_o shall_v feel_v it_o if_o we_o do_v not_o repent_v we_o think_v we_o have_v do_v notable_a fine_o when_o we_o have_v make_v a_o man_n a_o fair_a countenance_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n practice_v his_o death_n if_o we_o can_v we_o go_v sly_o on_o with_o the_o matter_n and_o laugh_v in_o our_o sleeve_n when_o we_o have_v thus_o do_v as_o though_o there_o be_v not_o a_o god_n in_o heaven_n that_o do_v see_v view_n and_o try_v all_o the_o secret_a thought_n of_o our_o deep_a dissemble_a heart_n and_o spy_v out_o all_o our_o crooked_a way_n and_o when_o we_o have_v make_v fair_a with_o all_o the_o earth_n will_v then_o call_v our_o crooked_a practice_n to_o account_v do_v that_o cruel_a wretch_n cain_n any_o thing_n prevail_v when_o dissemble_v his_o cruel_a malice_n towards_o his_o brother_n he_o make_v fair_a word_n with_o he_o till_o he_o gate_n he_o in_o the_o broad_a wild_a field_n alone_o and_o then_o fall_v upon_o he_o and_o kill_v he_o do_v it_o any_o thing_n prevail_v with_o god_n i_o say_v that_o none_o be_v at_o the_o deed_n do_v to_o accuse_v he_o need_v god_n any_o such_o thing_n which_o be_v privy_a to_o his_o wicked_a malicious_a thought_n no_o but_o he_o bring_v in_o the_o very_a blood_n which_o he_o shed_v and_o the_o earth_n which_o receive_v the_o blood_n to_o bring_v evidence_n against_o the_o man_n to_o condemnation_n what_o shall_v we_o say_v then_o will_v our_o fair_a look_n and_o sweet_a word_n one_o to_o another_o prevail_v before_o god_n when_o with_o this_o same_o dissemble_a love_n which_o reign_v so_o among_o we_o this_o judas_n love_n these_o love_n devil_n love_n and_o let_v we_o like_o good_a christian_n here_o in_o norfolk_n once_o at_o the_o length_n begin_v to_o embrace_v christ_n love_n true_a love_n unfeigned_a from_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o sincere_a to_o the_o glory_n of_o our_o god_n and_o comfort_n of_o princess_n name_n without_o some_o warrant_n &_o shall_v we_o be_v so_o bold_a with_o the_o lord_n christ_n to_o abuse_v his_o name_n with_o the_o title_n of_o christian_a man_n when_o we_o be_v nothing_o so_o if_o any_o dare_v be_v so_o bold_a as_o to_o make_v a_o face_n and_o brace_v unto_o the_o poor_a people_n and_o say_v i_o be_o the_o queen_n servant_n and_o under_o that_o title_n exercise_v all_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o queen_n majesty_n service_n and_o yet_o never_o authorize_v into_o service_n nor_o receive_v her_o cognisance_n to_o be_v know_v by_o can_v such_o deal_n can_v not_o be_v his_o disciple_n we_o can_v be_v true_a christian_n unless_o we_o love_v one_o a_o other_o let_v we_o say_v and_o face_n and_o brace_n it_o out_o never_o so_o much_o all_o will_v not_o serve_v for_o he_o say_v he_o that_o can_v not_o lie_v that_o by_o this_o we_o be_v know_v whether_o we_o be_v in_o deed_n christian_n man_n or_o no_o if_o we_o love_v one_o a_o other_o what_o shall_v we_o say_v then_o good_a brethren_n to_o we_o norfolk_n man_n among_o who_o reign_v too_o much_o strife_n &_o contention_n hatred_n malice_n brabble_v brawl_a &_o wrangle_v shall_v we_o say_v we_o be_v christian_a man_n &_o so_o flatter_v ourselves_o in_o our_o sin_n and_o deceive_v our_o own_o soul_n jesus_n christ_n tell_v we_o the_o contrary_a that_o we_o can_v not_o be_v just_o we_o be_v become_v infamous_a thereby_o to_o the_o whole_a world_n when_o there_o be_v find_v more_o wrangle_v in_o this_o same_o little_a part_n then_o be_v in_o xx_o part_n of_o the_o land_n only_o like_o grammar_n scholar_n have_v it_o by_o heart_n but_o like_o christ_n scholar_n have_v the_o feel_n and_o love_n of_o it_o in_o our_o heart_n not_o only_o by_o rote_n like_o child_n say_v it_o with_o our_o mouth_n but_o like_o god_n child_n practise_v it_o in_o our_o deed_n and_o herein_o good_a lord_n how_o small_o have_v we_o profit_v this_o xv_o year_n learn_v the_o practice_n of_o this_o lesson_n in_o christ_n school_n or_o if_o we_o have_v learn_v it_o how_o soon_o have_v we_o forget_v it_o or_o if_o we_o have_v both_o know_v it_o and_o thought_n upon_o it_o in_o what_o case_n be_v we_o that_o so_o general_o have_v use_v continual_o against_o our_o own_o conscience_n &_o knowledge_n to_o do_v contrary_a unto_o it_o well_o for_o that_o which_o be_v pass_v let_v we_o repent_v further_o than_o this_o if_o we_o consider_v the_o circumstance_n of_o the_o time_n when_o these_o word_n be_v speak_v it_o will_v make_v we_o yet_o a_o little_a more_o careful_a to_o think_v upon_o of_o love_v one_o another_o be_v a_o new_a commandment_n it_o may_v seem_v strange_a that_o he_o call_v it_o new_a and_o yet_o be_v give_v so_o long_o ago_o by_o the_o lord_n god_n himself_o in_o his_o commandment_n 18._o and_o be_v the_o very_a sum_n of_o the_o whole_a second_o table_n as_o it_o do_v appear_v by_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n his_o own_o interpretation_n 39_o that_o we_o love_v our_o neighbour_n as_o ourself_o this_o then_o seem_v not_o to_o be_v new_a which_o be_v deliver_v to_o moses_n a_o thousand_o year_n before_o &_o more_o true_a it_o be_v our_o saviour_n christ_n do_v not_o here_o call_v it_o new_a as_o though_o it_o have_v never_o be_v utter_v before_o but_o because_o he_o will_v call_v a_o new_a to_o the_o mind_n that_o which_o they_o have_v hear_v have_v it_o stick_v continual_o in_o their_o mind_n as_o a_o thing_n new_a tell_v fresh_a in_o our_o mind_n for_o we_o know_v thing_n that_o be_v old_a do_v or_o speak_v be_v not_o so_o ripe_a in_o our_o head_n as_o that_o that_o be_v new_o do_v or_o speak_v that_o it_o may_v be_v therefore_o unto_o we_o continual_o new_a and_o fresh_a in_o our_o mind_n he_o call_v it_o new_a not_o old_a and_o raw_a but_o fresh_a and_o new_a we_o have_v therefore_o well_o to_o consider_v of_o it_o and_o every_o one_o of_o we_o to_o enter_v deep_a into_o ourselves_o and_o try_v our_o heart_n whether_o this_o commandment_n be_v new_a fresh_a and_o green_a in_o our_o mind_n or_o no_o or_o rather_o whether_o it_o be_v so_o old_a unto_o we_o that_o we_o have_v clean_o forget_v it_o i_o be_o afraid_a if_o we_o well_o try_v and_o examine_v ourselves_o we_o shall_v find_v it_o fresh_a and_o new_a among_o a_o very_a few_o or_o none_o of_o we_o but_o so_o old_a that_o it_o be_v even_o at_o the_o last_o cast_v with_o a_o great_a number_n of_o we_o and_o a_o new_a commandment_n come_v in_o the_o room_n of_o it_o not_o from_o jesus_n christ_n but_o satan_n and_o the_o devil_n a_o new_a commandment_n that_o we_o love_v not_o one_o a_o other_o but_o every_o man_n himself_o this_o same_o new_a commandment_n of_o satan_n of_o love_v ourselves_o oh_o it_o be_v marvellous_a rife_a fresh_a and_o new_a among_o we_o but_o the_o new_a commandment_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n of_o love_v one_o a_o other_o it_o be_v so_o stale_a and_o wear_v out_o of_o use_n among_o we_o new-fangled_a englishman_n and_o especial_o among_o we_o norfolk_n man_n if_o jesus_n christ_n have_v give_v we_o this_o commandment_n to_o love_v ourselves_o how_o notable_o can_v we_o have_v practise_v it_o and_o what_o a_o number_n of_o follower_n thereof_o shall_v we_o have_v find_v among_o we_o at_o this_o day_n all_o england_n all_o norfolk_n shall_v have_v be_v find_v very_o perfect_a in_o it_o but_o alas_o good_a brethren_n it_o be_v clean_o contrary_a that_o commandment_n which_o he_o will_v have_v new_a among_o we_o be_v not_o to_o love_v ourselves_o but_o to_o love_v one_o a_o other_o this_o be_v that_o which_o be_v very_o rare_a in_o our_o day_n and_o must_v be_v new_a fresh_a and_o rife_o among_o we_o there_o be_v no_o remedy_n or_o sure_o the_o lord_n will_v begin_v a_o new_a work_n among_o we_o he_o can_v abide_v to_o hear_v his_o commandment_n so_o contemptuous_o and_o despiteful_o tread_v under_o our_o foot_n therefore_o let_v we_o be_v careful_a in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n to_o amend_v that_o which_o be_v amiss_o in_o we_o and_o now_o begin_v to_o embrace_v this_o new_a commandment_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n of_o love_v one_o a_o other_o and_o utter_o forsake_v and_o remove_v that_o old_a satan_n commandment_n of_o love_v of_o ourselves_o that_o we_o may_v be_v right_a disciple_n and_o scholar_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o we_o say_v we_o be_v christian_n and_o hold_v of_o christ_n well_o thus_o you_o see_v what_o weighty_a charge_n be_v give_v of_o our_o saviour_n to_o love_v one_o a_o other_o it_o be_v no_o small_a matter_n and_o therefore_o not_o hasty_o to_o be_v put_v up_o because_o it_o be_v both_o a_o commandment_n and_o proceed_v also_o from_o he_o that_o have_v authority_n over_o all_o thing_n to_o command_v which_o have_v his_o judgement_n for_o we_o in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v if_o we_o will_v not_o be_v teach_v by_o fair_a mean_n here_o in_o this_o life_n now_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o text_n even_o as_o i_o have_v love_v you_o this_o sentence_n serve_v both_o for_o a_o reason_n more_o vehement_o to_o persuade_v we_o to_o love_v one_o a_o other_o by_o his_o own_o example_n that_o so_o tender_o love_v we_o &_o also_o it_o serve_v for_o a_o pattern_n to_o try_v our_o love_n by_o whether_o it_o be_v sincere_a or_o feign_a the_o reason_n whereby_o he_o exhort_v we_o to_o love_v one_o a_o other_o stand_v thus_o i_o so_o tender_o vain_a love_n all_o corrupt_a love_n gainful_a love_n tongue-love_n false_a love_n and_o such_o like_a and_o bid_v look_v as_o his_o love_n be_v towards_o we_o so_o let_v our_o love_n be_v one_o towards_o a_o other_o his_o love_n be_v not_o towards_o we_o when_o we_o be_v his_o friend_n but_o even_o then_o he_o love_v we_o when_o we_o be_v his_o enemy_n and_o give_v his_o life_n for_o we_o as_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n we_o rage_n like_o cruel_a beast_n against_o those_o which_o have_v but_o a_o little_a touch_v we_o with_o harm_n and_o injury_n and_o we_o think_v we_o may_v do_v it_o lawful_o it_o be_v so_o general_a a_o thing_n and_o touch_v the_o corruption_n of_o our_o nature_n so_o near_o that_o if_o he_o do_v or_o speak_v but_o any_o ill_n by_o we_o we_o think_v we_o may_v very_o just_o be_v incense_v against_o he_o 8._o yea_o but_o be_v the_o love_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n so_o in_o that_o manner_n nay_o he_o love_v we_o even_o when_o we_o be_v his_o enemy_n and_o life_n of_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n to_o be_v tender_v be_v in_o danger_n while_o thy_o enemy_n rage_v against_o thou_o with_o all_o despite_n and_o villainy_n his_o poor_a soul_n be_v in_o peril_n to_o be_v drown_v in_o the_o gulf_n of_o hell_n ought_v not_o thou_o to_o pity_v his_o estate_n and_o reach_v out_o thy_o hand_n to_o help_v he_o out_o and_o not_o like_o a_o unmerciful_a man_n to_o shall_v happen_v to_o see_v the_o poor_a beast_n after_o that_o in_o peril_n of_o drown_v be_v there_o any_o so_o cruel_a that_o he_o may_v be_v revenge_v of_o the_o harm_n do_v unto_o he_o will_v and_o first_o of_o all_o we_o shall_v find_v it_o to_o be_v a_o special_a mean_a to_o draw_v we_o from_o the_o too_o much_o love_n of_o this_o world_n that_o we_o may_v use_v it_o as_o though_o we_o do_v not_o use_v it_o for_o when_o we_o have_v all_o thing_n at_o our_o will_n we_o be_v wed_v unto_o this_o world_n and_o think_v it_o best_o for_o we_o always_o to_o abide_v here_o and_o though_o heaven_n be_v a_o thousand_o time_n heavenly_a yet_o we_o desire_v it_o not_o so_o earnest_o as_o we_o ought_v but_o be_v still_o grovel_v upon_o the_o earth_n but_o when_o by_o affliction_n we_o find_v that_o there_o be_v no_o contentment_n in_o any_o thing_n here_o below_o it_o may_v move_v we_o to_o despise_v they_o and_o with_o more_o fervent_a desire_n to_o aspire_v at_o heaven_n where_o be_v the_o fullness_n of_o joy_n and_o pleasure_n for_o evermore_o for_o this_o cause_n the_o patriarch_n suffer_v so_o many_o affliction_n to_o who_o so_o many_o earthly_a thing_n be_v promise_v that_o they_o may_v not_o stay_v in_o they_o but_o from_o they_o ascend_v up_o into_o heaven_n which_o they_o be_v especial_o to_o look_v for_o as_o the_o apostle_n faith_n heb._n 11._o 9_o 10._o the_o dross_n of_o it_o unto_o a_o file_n that_o skour_v oft_o the_o rust_n unto_o a_o purgation_n that_o expel_v corrupt_a humour_n from_o the_o body_n therefore_o even_o as_o the_o fire_n do_v not_o hurt_v the_o gold_n in_o consume_v the_o dross_n and_o the_o file_n in_o take_v away_o the_o rust_n and_o the_o purgation_n in_o expel_v ill_a humour_n so_o affliction_n cause_v we_o to_o abhor_v and_o leave_v some_o sin_n or_o other_o which_o if_o we_o continue_v in_o will_v destroy_v we_o may_v true_o be_v say_v to_o work_v our_o good_a in_o the_o three_o place_n it_o preserve_v we_o from_o many_o sin_n which_o otherwise_o we_o shall_v fall_v into_o but_o that_o be_v under_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n we_o be_v keep_v in_o more_o awe_n and_o as_o physic_n serve_v not_o only_o to_o cure_v fall_v into_o it_o and_o prevent_v many_o that_o otherwise_o may_v creep_v upon_o we_o so_o that_o as_o some_o sickly_a body_n be_v drive_v to_o diet_n themselves_o and_o be_v in_o continual_a physic_n to_o prevent_v that_o which_o their_o corrupt_a estate_n will_v otherwise_o necessary_o pull_v upon_o they_o so_o some_o be_v always_o or_o the_o great_a part_n of_o there_o live_v in_o the_o diet_n of_o affliction_n not_o so_o much_o to_o bring_v they_o from_o gross_a and_o grievous_a sin_n which_o they_o be_v not_o yet_o fall_v into_o as_o to_o keep_v they_o from_o fall_v which_o the_o lord_n know_v they_o be_v ready_a to_o do_v in_o respect_n of_o their_o age_n calling_n and_o place_n that_o they_o live_v in_o so_o that_o if_o the_o lord_n deal_v with_o we_o as_o with_o untamed_a heifer_n which_o be_v keep_v from_o stray_v out_o of_o there_o pasture_n with_o hedge_n and_o ditch_n so_o he_o put_v thorn_n and_o brier_n in_o our_o way_n as_o hoseah_n say_v 2._o 6._o that_o be_v dead_a even_o so_o in_o like_a manner_n will_v these_o word_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n speak_v at_o his_o death_n pierce_v the_o heart_n of_o any_o of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n unless_o they_o be_v bastard_n and_o no_o son_n we_o can_v not_o if_o we_o love_v the_o lord_n jesus_n but_o remember_v this_o his_o last_o lesson_n which_o he_o give_v we_o for_o his_o farewell_n and_o i_o be_o sure_a unto_o the_o child_n of_o god_n it_o pierce_v a_o thousand_o time_n more_o their_o tender_a heart_n to_o hear_v they_o so_o love_o teach_v of_o their_o love_a lord_n than_o any_o other_o rough_a manner_n of_o deal_v because_o they_o be_v child_n and_o not_o slave_n and_o therefore_o serve_v of_o love_n and_o not_o of_o slavish_a fear_n although_o it_o be_v sometime_o needful_a for_o the_o best_a of_o they_o to_o feel_v of_o the_o love_a correction_n of_o their_o love_a father_n for_o the_o tame_n of_o their_o wild_a flesh_n but_o because_o in_o the_o house_n of_o god_n all_o be_v not_o child_n which_o have_v the_o outward_a countenance_n of_o child_n but_o there_o be_v a_o great_a company_n of_o dissemble_a hypocrite_n which_o take_v the_o liberty_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n &_o do_v nothing_o but_o only_o make_v a_o mock_n of_o all_o love_a kind_n of_o deal_v &_o laugh_v in_o their_o sleeve_n when_o they_o hear_v any_o such_o exhortation_n because_o they_o will_v not_o be_v teach_v by_o fair_a mean_n and_o as_o you_o will_v say_v by_o manner_n of_o entreaty_n therefore_o the_o lord_n jesus_n for_o their_o cause_n especial_o deal_v after_o a_o other_o sort_n here_o in_o this_o sentence_n and_o call_v this_o same_o his_o admonition_n to_o love_v not_o only_o a_o friendly_a exhortation_n as_o by_o way_n of_o request_n but_o also_o a_o commandment_n not_o only_o a_o matter_n of_o entreaty_n forsooth_o to_o do_v or_o not_o to_o do_v as_o best_o like_v we_o but_o a_o special_a commandment_n to_o be_v do_v whether_o we_o will_v or_o no_o whether_o we_o like_v it_o or_o not_o like_o it_o unless_o we_o will_v abide_v the_o penalty_n of_o disobedience_n and_o herein_o then_o he_o deal_v with_o we_o not_o only_o as_o a_o love_a friend_n to_o exhort_v but_o also_o as_o a_o prince_n of_o authority_n to_o command_v that_o if_o we_o shall_v violent_o cast_v off_o from_o we_o all_o kind_n of_o friendly_a admonition_n here_o and_o think_v we_o have_v escape_v well_o because_o we_o have_v break_v in_o sunder_o all_o the_o fast_a bond_n of_o love_a exhortation_n we_o shall_v yet_o understand_v he_o be_v our_o prince_n that_o have_v his_o judgement_n seat_n to_o arrayne_a we_o there_o to_o answer_v the_o breach_n of_o his_o bless_a commandment_n and_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o think_v or_o say_v oh_o i_o will_v indeed_o love_v my_o brethren_n but_o it_o be_v at_o leisure_n when_o i_o see_v my_o time_n and_o when_o i_o think_v best_a but_o rather_o think_v because_o it_o be_v command_v we_o we_o must_v do_v it_o whether_o we_o will_v or_o no_o not_o at_o our_o pleasure_n but_o at_o the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o commander_n unless_o we_o be_v guilty_a of_o his_o curse_n in_o his_o judgement_n seat_n so_o than_o you_o see_v what_o we_o have_v to_o mark_v in_o this_o where_o the_o lord_n jesus_n do_v not_o only_o exhort_v but_o command_v we_o to_o love_v one_o a_o other_o that_o be_v that_o we_o not_o only_o have_v a_o cold_a affection_n thereunto_o but_o that_o we_o be_v lively_o touch_v with_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o commander_n set_v before_o our_o eye_n his_o princely_a judgement_n seat_n where_o he_o will_v bring_v in_o trial_n all_o stubborn_a breach_n of_o his_o bless_a commandment_n although_o they_o be_v never_o so_o smooth_o pass_v over_o in_o this_o life_n you_o see_v then_o this_o have_v or_o at_o least_o wise_a aught_o to_o have_v a_o wonderful_a weighty_a force_n with_o it_o where_o the_o lord_n jesus_n fall_v a_o command_a and_o therefore_o ought_v of_o we_o deep_o to_o be_v consider_v and_o not_o cold_o for_o fashion_v embrace_v because_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n jesus_n that_o not_o only_o will_v but_o command_v it_o but_o alas_o it_o be_v a_o wonderful_a thing_n to_o see_v the_o authority_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n so_o small_o regard_v among_o we_o if_o once_o the_o will_n of_o a_o prince_n be_v but_o know_v it_o be_v a_o wonder_n to_o see_v how_o ready_o we_o be_v to_o frame_v ourselves_o thereunto_o but_o if_o he_o fall_v a_o command_a who_o do_v not_o then_o tremble_v at_o his_o displeasure_n but_o the_o lord_n jesus_n may_v entreat_v pray_v and_o beseech_v nay_o straight_o charge_n and_o command_v and_o for_o all_o that_o not_o regard_v of_o a_o straw_n it_o declare_v certain_o good_a brethren_n that_o there_o be_v no_o fear_n of_o god_n among_o we_o but_o only_o a_o certain_a worldly_a fear_n of_o man_n and_o yet_o the_o one_o kill_v the_o body_n alone_o 28._o the_o other_o throw_v both_o soul_n and_o body_n into_o hell_n fire_n eternal_a oh_o good_a brethren_n let_v we_o not_o deceive_v ourselves_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n jesus_n that_o command_v we_o let_v we_o obey_v he_o charge_v we_o to_o love_v one_o a_o other_o let_v it_o be_v do_v not_o only_o say_v but_o do_v do_v do_v let_v we_o earnest_o repent_v that_o we_o have_v be_v so_o slack_a in_o do_v this_o commandment_n for_o our_o saviour_n hitherto_o that_o we_o have_v do_v nothing_o but_o only_o make_v a_o mock_n of_o it_o oh_o it_o be_v his_o mercy_n that_o have_v save_v we_o hitherto_o and_o have_v not_o throw_v we_o down_o to_o hell_n as_o we_o have_v deserve_v but_o in_o mercy_n have_v keep_v we_o till_o this_o day_n let_v we_o now_o from_o henceforth_o think_v earnest_o upon_o this_o commandment_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o now_o begin_v to_o practice_v it_o that_o there_o may_v be_v love_n among_o we_o and_o not_o such_o brabble_a brawl_a and_o contention_n as_o we_o see_v daily_o and_o be_v too_o lamentable_a but_o like_a to_o good_a scholar_n in_o the_o school_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n let_v we_o have_v love_n and_o peace_n among_o we_o and_o sure_o than_o he_o will_v dwell_v among_o we_o and_o protect_v we_o for_o ever_o now_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o text_n that_o this_o commandment_n
