of_o learning_n and_o knowledge_n but_o as_o for_o the_o generality_n of_o mankind_n it_o must_v be_v own_a that_o they_o be_v fond_a of_o it_o to_o a_o strange_a degree_n and_o be_v more_o concern_v to_o be_v account_v wise_a and_o learned_a than_o real_o to_o be_v so_o otherwise_o i_o question_v whether_o our_o library_n will_v be_v so_o full_a as_o they_o be_v x._o but_o now_o though_o the_o generality_n of_o man_n be_v so_o passionate_o and_o keen_o set_v upon_o the_o fame_n of_o be_v learned_a and_o know_v yet_o so_o little_o have_v nature_n design_v to_o gratify_v this_o ambitious_a humour_n there_o be_v but_o a_o very_a few_o that_o have_v either_o a_o genius_n and_o inclination_n for_o learning_n itself_o or_o a_o capacity_n of_o attain_v to_o it_o not_o a_o inclination_n because_o there_o be_v a_o great_a variety_n in_o the_o speculative_a as_o well_o as_o moral_a inclination_n of_o man_n one_o be_v natural_o dispose_v to_o this_o sort_n of_o study_n and_o another_o to_o that_o whereas_o true_a knowledge_n whatever_o it_o be_v which_o shall_v be_v consider_v in_o its_o due_a place_n be_v of_o one_o determinate_a kind_n or_o nature_n in_o general_n and_o consequent_o must_v require_v a_o certain_a peculiar_a frame_n and_o disposition_n of_o mind_n not_o a_o capacity_n because_o the_o generality_n of_o man_n be_v know_v to_o have_v but_o indifferent_a intellectual_n suit_v to_o the_o exigency_n of_o common_a life_n when_o as_o true_a knowledge_n what_o ever_o it_o be_v must_v be_v suppose_v to_o be_v a_o thing_n of_o uncommon_a difficulty_n and_o the_o study_n of_o it_o a_o work_n fit_a only_o for_o sublime_a wit_n the_o more_o elevate_v and_o awaken_v part_n of_o mankind_n xi_o now_o put_v these_o two_o thing_n together_o that_o almost_o all_o man_n will_v fain_o be_v think_v learned_a and_o know_v and_o that_o there_o be_v but_o here_o and_o there_o one_o that_o be_v natural_o make_v and_o fit_v for_o true_a knowledge_n and_o then_o consider_v what_o be_v like_a to_o be_v the_o result_n of_o this_o complication_n why_o the_o latter_a few_o may_v succeed_v well_o in_o the_o search_n of_o what_o they_o be_v natural_o qualify_v for_o and_o have_v attain_v to_o a_o competency_n of_o true_a knowledge_n such_o as_o be_v perfective_a of_o the_o understanding_n they_o find_v themselves_o under_o no_o temptation_n to_o place_v it_o in_o any_o thing_n else_o or_o to_o bring_v into_o credit_n any_o other_o sort_n of_o knowledge_n because_o have_v arrive_v so_o far_o they_o be_v either_o wise_a enough_o to_o undervalue_v the_o fame_n of_o be_v learned_a or_o else_o despair_v not_o of_o attain_v it_o by_o their_o proficiency_n in_o true_a knowledge_n here_o therefore_o they_o take_v up_o their_o rest_n xii_o but_o now_o what_o shall_v we_o do_v with_o the_o other_o be_v they_o to_o be_v persuade_v that_o they_o be_v not_o of_o a_o make_n for_o the_o study_n and_o attainment_n of_o learning_n you_o will_v find_v it_o tough_a work_n to_o convince_v they_o of_o that_o but_o suppose_v it_o possible_a that_o they_o can_v be_v make_v sensible_a that_o they_o be_v not_o like_a to_o commence_v very_o learned_a and_o know_v yet_o all_o the_o world_n shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o persuade_v they_o to_o lay_v aside_o that_o natural_a itch_n of_o be_v so_o account_v but_o you_o will_v say_v though_o this_o inclination_n be_v too_o natural_a and_o inbred_a to_o be_v quite_o lay_v aside_o yet_o there_o be_v hope_n it_o may_v be_v govern_v no_o nor_o that_o neither_o they_o must_v put_v in_o for_o the_o
